We've been in this area for a few months but finally made it here. The ambiance is very bar and grill but in the best possible way. It made me sorely miss my family's horses more than I already do. I got the patty melt with two patties, onions and cheese on rye. It was freaking amazing. My wife got the Friday fish fry which she loved. We did a pretzel and the beer cheese dip. Wish the pretzels were bigger like BJ's Tacern as we had to get a second delicious pretzel to kill off the AMAZING beer cheese dip. Pretzel size not withstanding I'd totally get that again as it's the beer cheese was possibly if not definitely the best I've EVER had. They also had a damned decent beer selection. I've seen much better but my wife and I found options we liked. Considering how picky we are with beer that says something. The service was amazing. Attentive, fun and professional. Jennifer was our server and she was amazing. She checked in at every opportunity and when she was busy others checked in with us which was great. All in all I'd totally recommend this place. We walked in not knowing if we should grab a table or wait for service to be seated. Nothing happened so we grabbed a table. Our waitress was friendly, but the food took forever to arrive. And the dining room was only half full. The salad showed up with onions, despite the request and confirmation that there wouldn't be any onions in it. Surprised it took over 20 minutes for a side salad to be delivered. And it was all iceberg lettuce. The club sandwich arrived 20 minutes after that, and it was boring and flavorless. Zero out of two for the food that I was served. Again, the wait staff was good, but I have no reason to ever come back here for the food. The owner was also in the restaurant and you could tell he was not interested in being friendly or even smiling. You can skip this grill. read more

This is a casual place with indoor and outdoor seating. The menu items are diverse and include many comfort items as well as a variety of steaks. There is bar and table seating and TVs to watch sports events. They also have live music around 5 Pm. While service was good for drinks and offers to take our order, the kitchen was slow getting things out. I had the pulled pork sandwich with Caesar salad (sides include salad, French fries, onion rings). The sandwiches they offer include patty melt, a variety of cheeseburgers, and more. Beer was great, service was excellent, food not so much! I ordered a Reuben Sandwich. It was prepared as if the chef could care less about what he/she was serving. The bread was lightly toasted (probably in a toaster) on one side, soft, lukewarm & a little soggy on the other. I was expecting griddle toasted bread (in butter and oil). The portion of meat was meager at best. The pastrami, cheese, sauce and sauerkraut were passable. Good ingredients combined with caring preparation can take you a long way to serving pleasing dishes. Step it up folks. The last incarnations in that location parished, but at least they could prepare a descent Reuben! read more

The first couple times we ate at The Ranch, we were impressed; hence my five-star rating. But the last time we ate there, neither the food nor the service was worth shouting about. The mashed potatoes were gummy and flavorless; the steak was not cooked well. The last time we were there, we left without ordering. The live music, which is now nightly, was so obnoxiously loud that we couldn't even hear the waitress. It would have been impossible to converse and our request to lower the volume a couple decibels was fruitless. In addition, the physical display of the owners' politics and religious decor make me uncomfortable. All people should feel welcome in a place of business regardless of the phobias of the owners. This place has absolutely horrible acoustics. The same location has switched ownership several times. In the recent update, the size and decor of the bar was completely updated. The new updated interior looks nice, but has horrendous acoustics. We saw a band that used to play at the old venue that was a great crowd pleaser in the old location. In the new location, his music was inaudible and ignored by most of the patrons. If Billy Joel himself were playing at this place, he would be ignored and rejected by the patrons. Even when the music isn't playing, the ambient noise is unbearable. The food is very mediocre. The owners need to do something about the acoustic issues. We gobbled our food down and got out of there as fast as we could because the noise was unbearable. Never again! read more

Staying nearby, we thought we'd try this place. Walking in at 5:30 and it was super busy, good sign! It took a while before a server came by to take our order. We ordered an appetizer, and dinner. All arrived at once. Okay... The calamari was delicious, and both Caesar and harvest salads were great. Avoid the crab cakes, they were tasteless and room temperature. The overwhelming takeaway from the evening was the overwhelmingly loud music. The singer was ok, but the volume was way too loud. We wouldn't return if the food was free. A wonderful local restaurant that serves great food. The interior is huge and open and welcoming, and the outdoor patio offers great views. The service is prompt and kind. The breakfast offered includes a huge burrito and pancake spaghetti (yes, you read that right). The biscuits and gravy are delicious!!! Then we have the lunch and dinner menus. The chicken fried steak is something to write home about. There is live country music on some nights, which is great for those who like that genre. As shown in my previous review, the Ranch started out great. But the food and service have continued to deteriorate. The atmosphere too- music so loud it's painful, and the staff is com unapologetic about it. And the last time we went, there was a large table of obnoxious drunk people; the establishment was fine with them yelling and ruining everyone else's time. I've since learned that the owners/staff unfortunately are prejudiced against many minorities. As a minority and ally of other vulnerable groups, I will not patronize such an establishment. read more

I visited the restaurant twice within a month. Once for takeout out and the steak was phenomenal. The other time with my daughter (inside dining). We had a new server, and she did really well. The live music is nice. However, this particular night, the kitchen manager and/or runner process was a bit off as our main entree was fairly warm, but the sides had definitely cooled off while waiting to be served. This will not hinder me from returning as the food, staff, and atmosphere are inviting. read more

We have enjoyed the food, the service and ambiance of this restaurant since it first opened. The staff is super friendly and helpful, and we like the expansion of the facility since the first time my wife and I visited. The general ambiance of the place and the addition of the big screens was a nice touch. My go to has been the flat iron steak although most recently I tried the Roast beef au jus sandwich which was very tasty as well. The only minus I have to this recent experience is that my wife ordered the Pork Chop tomahawk and was disappointed in the half size she received this time. My wife and I stopped by the Ranch Bar and Grill after we were done golfing. Boy, after 18 holes we were thirsty and hungry. We started off with an order of onion rings. I have had better onion rings but they rate a 3.5 out of 5. We both ordered the Ranch and Smash Burger. They were adorned with lettuce, tomato, onion, ranch sauce on a bun. A little sloppy eating was but very good. We sat at the bar. Initially service was a bit slow but it went well after our order was taken. Nice bar. Many types of beer on tap. Ranch Bar and Grille offer many items including full entrees like pasta, ribs, chicken steak, New York strip to name some. We paid cash. There is an extra 3% charge for credit cards. Food was great. My smash burger tasted great. Husband got the pulled pork and says it's his favorite in Tucson. I tasted it and it was flavorful and not too wet. The inside is decorated with western stuff and there is a stage for live music. Nice bar inside as well. Our server was new and she was terrific and attentive. We saw this on our way to drive up mt lemon. So glad we stopped. We will be back for steak next time. read more

We went in, expecting some music and maybe a steak. First we're told the music isn't happening. OK, well, the food should still be good. Order a drink, wait a bit. Another server comes over and asks if we're ready to place a food order. I ask for the pulled pork sandwich "we're out". I decide to switch to a small steak. Been wanting to try The Ranch for some time now and we finally did last night. The place was very busy when we arrived sometime after 5pm. Every indoor table and spot at the bar was filled with the exception of two reserved tables waiting for guests. One of the servers offered to clear the small table nearest the kitchen that they were using for cutlery, napkins and other things so we took it! Super nice to do that for us. We loved the atmosphere...very Western but also comfortable and a bit classier than expected. There are some beautiful touches like the antler chandeliers and the gorgeous cut crystal decanter on the top shelf of the bar. Just nice touches. Sadly we didn't have the best dining experience. My guy ordered the blue crab cakes as an appetizer and he thought they were good. They were drizzled with an aioli, too heavily for me (I don't care for mayo type sauces) so it was a little difficult for me to find a bite without it. He ordered the chicken fried steak dinner that comes with mashed potatoes. The meat was tender and he said it was good however he expected more flavor. The potatoes had small chunks of potatoes throughout which we normally appreciate however they were definitely undercooked. I ordered a patty melt that came with grilled onions and Swiss cheese. I love a good patty melt but this was underwhelming. The onions were barely grilled with no caramelization and the patties were underseasoned. I have never had to add salt or pepper to any meat at any restaurant but had to open this sandwich up to do just that. I ordered sweet potato fries as my side and unfortunately they were also underseasoned. Not sure what was going on last night as I'm not typically someone who needs to add salt and pepper to my food. We each had 2 cocktails, him a standard Captain & Coke and I had the Dirty Cowgirl which is basically a dirty martini, my favorite cocktail. I enjoyed it. The live music last night was amazing. Feel good country music like George Strait, Glen Campbell and Garth Brooks sung and played expertly by last night's duo. The music was a little loud but the place was bustling with people talking and enjoying themselves so i didn't feel it was too loud. I quite enjoyed the music and went up to to the guys to tip them and told them they were probably the thing we enjoyed the most about our experience. Service was attentive and quick but also completely overwhelming and a bit intrusive. It seems the wait staff don't have assigned tables but instead try to make sure everyone is taken care of. Nice concept but we were asked constantly if we'd ordered, if we needed another drink, if our food was good, etc. I was almost afraid to make eye contact for fear of having another person stop at our table while we tried to eat. I noticed this taking place at multiple tables and like I said nice concept but so intrusive. We probably should have ordered steak or prime rib to get the real Ranch meal they must be known for but I can't say it would have been any better just more expensive. I do wish this establishment well and love that they are so busy. I'm glad we had a chance to try it out but can't see returning. read more

We went here as a group as there was live music this night. We were seated outside, which I was concerned about cause, ya know...its hot! Thankfully they had misters out on the patio--made it very enjoyable! The restaurant was packed! The servers were on point which checking in on everyone. They serve up everything from typical bar food to a little bit "fancier" if you will. The manager Jen and our waitress Katie were so very nice. We would for sure try this place again. read more

Nice little spot to go get a quick bite and drink. Bloody Mary is worth trying if you are a Bloody Mary lover. Unfortunately doesn't come with a chaser but I think that's a Tucson thing. I haven't found a place here that does. Service is fast and friendly. Club sandwich is one of the best I've had, with a generous side of fries. Walked away full and happy Only complaint- I wish they had drink specials during football games/ Saturday and Sundays. Would definitely make it a habit to go more often if they did. read more

We went early for dinner, as friends who live here have said when the music begins it's almost impossible to talk, but it was still very loud...My wife ordered the half-chicken and I went with the flat iron steak, and our friends had the pork chops. I wasn't sure about the flat iron as that cut can be tough if not cooked right. Mine was very good. Here's where it went downhill quickly, my order and our friend's dinners came out sans my wife's chicken. Our waitress told us it would be just a minute...then another minute...then, well you get the idea. They were mostly done when her chicken came out. I asked the waitress who brought out her order what happened? She replied, "Well roasting the chicken takes extra time." Nice, would have been good to have known that before hand, she said she would have ordered something else. Now, if the chicken was great, the wait would have been worth it, but it was truly...ordinary to be honest. Our friend's chops were good and they enjoyed them. Had an early dinner at the ranch this evening. First off. EVERY employee we encountered was friendly and welcoming. We do not eat out often as we think most meals are overpriced and subpar to what we can cook at home. The New York steak and filet were both cooked perfectly and well seasoned. Another in our party had the fried mushrooms and calamari and thought both were delicious and well prepared. Others have complained about the noise. We stayed while a gentleman played guitar and sang well and it was great live music. While the music is at a good volume, it is what I would expect with great live music. Everything was done well. Food was surprisingly good for a grill. Not just bar food. Calamari is not easy to avoid it being chewy. It was excellent. Went here prior to them expanding and had a pretty good experience but this Saturday night, it was just bad all around...we were a group of 8 and I had gotten a reservation with confirmation and everything but there wasn't an actual table that was "reserved" for us...we opted to sit outside as the band inside was really quite loud. However, while waiting to order one of the heating lamps outside started spouting smoke outside and we had to flag them and they decided shut the windows for the benefit of the people inside and then they started turning on the fans outside which spread the smoke all over, it was a big deal, a safety hazard and it just seemed like they didn't have any plans on mitigating the situation...if I had not asked if we could be seated elsewhere they would've just been fine leaving us outside to suffer smoke inhalation which is completely unsafe especially with one of the people in our group being pregnant. So they said any table inside will do when I asked, and there wasn't an actual staff member who seemed concerned about what just happened. We were sitting there for 10-minutes or so in addition to all the waiting in the smoke outside and there still wasn't a point person "taking care" of us. I had to go stand next to the server from outside while she was by the bar and had to tap her arm and ask when we would be able to order. She said "I'll give you menus" when really we just needed to order. Once inside, the band was so loud we couldn't hear ourselves. After having ordered the ribeye, rare, my husband's steak came cold inside and out, and white on the outside without any sear as if it wasn't cooked at all. The server tried to make an excuse stating, when you order "rare" it's warm on the outside and cold on the inside--which is inaccurate. Rare steaks are still cooked, and browned on the outside with bright red in the center. The other food we had especially the NY steaks were cooked in the right temp but had lot of gristle. For everything that has happened that night, it just seemed like there weren't anyone in the restaurant admin that cared that it is a safety hazard(smoke inhalation) and how it was handled was just poor. No one apologized for anything. I don't expect them to comp any food or give us any discounts but at the least, take ownership that you put our whole group's health in danger. I think The Ranch grew and expanded too quickly, there's no clear leadership or direction for appropriate treatment or care for the customers. It would make sense for them to have a host or at least have an idea what to do when things like this arise. I was excited when they first opened and have had good experiences before but I can't recommend anyone coming here after what we went through this weekend and don't recommend this restaurant until they make some changes, as I've said it was just bad all around. read more

This place is everything we needed! Great food, with a menu that has everything from the basic bar food- wings, burgers, onion rings and fried pickles but the best is yet to come. They also have upscale choices like the most perfectly prepared ribeye steaks, BBQ ribs that fall off the bone but not sloppy, the sides of roasted potatoes and green beans mixed with onion and bacon were both perfection in every way. To add to this winning meal- we had a slice of cheesecake with just the right amount of hot apples and bananas on top and OMG it was decedent! They have an excellent selection of craft cocktails and decent wine options. Our tastebuds were happy. I hear from the owners they will be expanding in July. So expect even more depth to their menu. Can I just say thank you again for coming down the street from us. We needed you and I know you're here to stay. They have invested into amazing food, a chef that clearly knows what they are doing, a super friendly and attentive staff, beautiful decor and ambiance that can be a great date night in the future or just an everyday good meal close to home on a weekday. We generally do not like leaving bad reviews however this place deserves it. Came in over the last weekend in the morning for some food and drinks. The service was awful from start to finish; inattentive, indifferent and plain old couldn't give a fig about customers. At one point while waiting to try to order a second drink we realized it has been over twenty minutes of waiting. To be clear the bar area had about six people seated at it in total. The place itself has decent bones and plenty of screens for all your sports viewing however when service is as bad as this no amount of ambience or setting is going to make it worthwhile. If ever we decide to swing by again we will check if it's the same server before sitting down. She was absolutely awful from start to finish. read more
