The last two times we've gone here there's been a sign at the door that said "Please seat yourself". So we did. Both times. And then we waited. And waited. And waited. On both occasions we have the team 15 minutes to come by and at least say hello. We'd be fine with a "we'll be right with you". Anything at all. Both times haven't been particularly busy and there's plenty of staff wandering around but no acknowledgment. None. This last time we even flagged down a passing server and said hello, she said hi and then went to the front desk to wipe down menus or something. We said good bye on the way out. All the while there were four or five servers wandering around the bar side of the dining room. The food here is decent but service has always been iffy. It's disappointing because as a guy who's been to the original Anchor Bar back when I lived there, it could be so much better. These two times we left aren't our first issues with the service; it's been somewhat dicey every time. I do not like leaving low star reviews. This bar/restaurant stems from The original Anchor Restaurant in Buffalo. It's a typical pub style with some interesting paraphernalia on the wall such as signed photos. The service was great. I was with five friends and we shared an order of wings which was pretty yummy. A few of us had the beef on weck which they raved about. Two of us shared the huge pizza which they said was delicious and had ordered it before. I had the spinach salad which was much better than anticipated. Our first visit here we weren't overly impressed, but we went back today for International Chicken Wing Day. They had some specials with $.50 wings. They have redeemed themselves in our eyes and get 5 stars for this visit. We got 20 wings with three sauces. They let us do 10 garlic parmesan, 5 mild, and 5 honey bbq. We also got a container of blue cheese and one of ranch for dipping. The wings were hot, meaty, and cooked just right with lots of sauce. The mild ones didn't have as much flavor, but they were still cooked well. We also got a side salad and some onion rings. Not sure the salad was worth the cost, but the onion rings were plentiful. We sat in the bar area this time and our server was present and attentive. Again, lots of tv's for sports watching and high top tables, regular tables, and the bar area to sit in. The service was quick and friendly. It was a bit cold from the weather outside even in main restaurant. I got the wings combo 10 wings and tater tots. I got a medium sauce, not too hot. Came to Anchor Bar for the National Wing Day deal with a large group and overall had a good experience. They were running low on bone-in wings, but our waitress was very friendly and was able to honor the deal for boneless wings instead, which we really appreciated. I got to check this place out recently with some friends for lunch on a weekend mid afternoon. We sat on the dining side that has booths and tables but I did hear there's a bar section with TV's and such as well as an enclosed patio outside. Service was good, and i enjoyed the sunset colada she recommended. We ordered the house special large cup n' char pepperoni pizza and boneless wings , one guy got a salad. To say i had fun is a understatement and Its not even baseball season yet. Im going to start this off with a holy Fn cow . I had to tell my server hurry and give me a damn box so i can stop eating! I picked up some wings to take home and try as I needed to try the folks who created the Buffalo wing now Ty's they were in Tucson. I used their app to order and took them home with me. The staff help me out quickly. The wings were a great size and had a great crunch. The sauces missed the mark a bit for me. We were very excited to try this new wing bar that opened because it's a Buffalo, NY staple in the AZ! Anyone who knows wings knows they're OG from Buffalo! The service was friendly and attentive. The restaurant is wonderfully designed with sports lovers in mind! Big screen TVs from every seat! There's even a large covered outdoor patio with plenty of seating & big screens adorning every spot! Saw that they were open and heard some really good things about them so I wanted to come and try them out. So glad I stopped. The staff was very friendly and welcoming upon walking into the establishment. Our waiter was knowledgeable of the menu and made some great recommendations So we opted to try their pizza, their wings, as well as the shrimp and a salad. They offer a full service bar for which we ordered drinks. We got a mule and a piña colada. Both were amazing. The food came out quickly, hot and fresh. The wings were fried to perfection crunchy on the outside, but the meat was still nice and juicy and tender. With a variety of flavors to choose from whether you like wet wings or a dry rub For an appetizer, we got their cheese dip. It reminded me of a buffalo chicken dip because it did have pieces of chicken in it. The salad was nice and fresh. We also had french fries and onion rings in those two were delicious. Ok so decided to try this place out today for lunch. It's a fairly large place with plenty of seating and numerous TV's throughout the space. The restaurant was pretty empty, but the bar was almost full, and it's where I parked my carcass. The BT was pleasant and took my drink order relatively quickly, and I had my beer in just a few minutes. I went with the lunch special, which has several options, I chose the personal pizza and 5 wings combo. The food took about 20 minutes or so to come out, but it came out nice and hot. I added cup and char pepperoni to the pizza as well. The pizza though hot and fresh was just not very good. It was way too doughy, it was undercooked and that sauce is just way too sweet. The wings were hot, juicy, and the original sauce is quite good, my only complaint would be sauce distribution which was very erratic. Overall the place is nice, for sports lovers it's a game day haven. The lunch specials are very reasonable price wise as were the beers. It's worth a stop in for the wings, but I can't recommend that pizza. Next time I'll go well done with no sauce. read more

I have been wanting to try this since it opened and finally had the opportunity to go. When you first enter you will immediately see dozens, I mean dozens of large TV's on almost every wall in the restaurant and on the large outdoor patio area. If you're looking for a sports bar, this is the place. The walls are also filled with the history behind the anchor bar, including the story behind the original owners inventing the buffalo wing. The service was top notch from when we entered till we left. Super friendly staff. After being seated our server grabbed our drink order and had our drinks out within a minute and got our appetizer order in. We went with the bacon wrapped jalapeño poppers which you really don't see very often on many menus. The poppers came out and I was impressed with the visual presentation. They came out with ranch and a honey sauce, which was unbelievable. The flavor hit just right there was just enough heat, but not too much. A solid go to for sure. We ordered the wing combo with fries and went with the buffalo medium original sauce. Again, when the plate was delivered to our table, the presentation was spot on. The wings were extremely crispy, but the chicken still retained its juice. The flavor was definitely good, but I would recommend going with a higher heat level as I would call these more of a mild heat in my opinion. The fries were crispy, but yet had a soft potato center. All in all the first experience, there was really good and I am definitely looking forward to returning and trying some of the hotter sauces and some of the other things on their menu. read more

This place was kind of a let down. It was hyped up by my Buffalo buddies, but didn't really hit the mark for me. The service was slow. We got there early on a Saturday (trying to beat the dinner rush) and the place was nearly empty. So how did it take a 1/2 hour to seat us? When we are seated, we order drinks and appetizers. The pretzel bites were good, although the honey mustard and cheese sauces slid right off their oily surfaces. The mozzarella sticks were $11 for five of them. I ordered them thinking they would have something spectacular to make them worth that much money. Nope! Five little fried mozzarella sticks with marinara sauce. Not sure what I was expecting for this price, but not this. Appetizers are gone, plates are cleared, orders are taken about 15 minutes later. Food took another 1/2 hour to come out, while many guests that arrived after us are getting their food before us. By this point the restaurant was getting packed though. I'm sorry, but the food was not great. Wings were fried to perfection, but lacking in any sauce coatings. They were basically crispy bland wings. The tots and fries didn't fair much better. The prices for the wings seemed fair, if they actually would have been good. The restaurant was clean, employees were kind, and the sports on the TV's were a welcomed addition to the long waits. These guys are probably still working out a lot of kinks, being so new and all. Maybe they need a second visit after they have been open for a while. For now, I'm definitely going to go elsewhere for wings. read more

We went there tonight & I was disappointed. They were busy (a UofA party on the patio). It took 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged that that we were sitting when a waitress (Stella) said oh let me see who's got your table (she had the tables on either side of us). We finally ordered after sitting for @20 minutes. My husband ordered a Philly asking for only meat & cheese. When he bit into it it was full of slimy mushrooms. I ordered a side salad asking for only cucumbers. The waitress said it had a mix of spring greens & romaine. It had no romaine & a ton of tomatoes. We've been to this restaurant before & was very happy with the food & the service. Unfortunately this was not true this time. read more

Sports bar extraordinaire! Great service, amazing wings and more TVs than I've ever seen in a single location. When we walked in the front door, the place looked mediocre with a smallish room of tables with diners enjoying some food but walk in and turn left to the next room and it's HUGE! Open seating in that room and I felt like we got lucky to find two seats at the bar since we were there during the AFC championship game. The place was packed. We were immediately greeted and placed drink orders. We tried the 20 wing plate and selected 3 flavors - 2 dry rubs: lemon pepper (my favorite) and Buffalo ranch (a little bland) as well as the sauced up original Buffalo. The wings are big, juicy and crispy. The lemon pepper is really the only wing I eat and I loved them. My guy said the original were some of the best wings he's had. We also had an order of jalapeno poppers. So many places serve breaded, deep-fried poppers that are not good in my opinion. These poppers are like what we make at home - fresh jalapenos filled with cream cheese and wrapped in bacon and grilled/roasted and so, so good! Anchor Bar is a great place to watch a game and enjoy some great wings....the pizza looked amazing too. Do yourself a favor and check them out! read more

We had wanting to try the wings here for a while and we finally did. They were clean. They had a lot of television's to watch different games. Our waiter was friendly and helpful. I too was a bit let down considering I have been to the one in Buffalo. My wife was amped up about the fact that one opened here in Tucson tgen found out they had 9 more opened in other states. Yes Doug is a nice guy but my eating experience was not so. My wife's wings were under cooked and sent back for recooking and mine were a bit dry, overcooked. For the price I expected better. Also, they could back off a bit on the BBQ sauce. My wings were swimming in it. I know there are going to be some growing pains and I will entertain going back, just not in a hurry! read more

We decided to try the Anchor Bar because we had gone to the one in Austin, Texas a few times. This has recently opened and they are still working out the kinks. My hubby loves Mac & Cheese so he ordered it. It was not tasty at all, had kind of a weird texture and color. We told our server, Alex and he took it off the bill. The manager came by and asked us about the dish, so that he could rectify the recipe. I had the wings & shrimp combo with a side salad. I had wanted to try the wings and they were delicious with a bourbon BBQ sauce. The shrimp was battered as well and were pretty tasty. The salad was fresh. Our server tried very hard to please us and we appreciated his good service. The dining room and bar are very nice and appealing. There are TV's everywhere. They also have a patio area. Overall a decent experience and we will be back, we will just wait a couple of months for things to smooth out. read more

This was my first time at Anchor Bar with my sons. We were greeted and seated quickly, and found the space clean, roomy, and perfect for groups, with good views of sports on the TVs. Our waiter Aaron was prompt, attentive, and provided excellent service throughout our meal. The food portions were generous, tasty, and suited four adults. Decided to give this new establishment a try, knowing they would probably be busy on a Friday night. Greeted by a sign upon entering the restaurant (not sure which entry door was the entrance; changed from the old entrance for the previous BBQ restaurant), guests were asked to be "patient... since they just opened" - not a good sign... we gave our name and number in our party after a brief wait at the reception desk, and were told it was a 10 to 15 minute wait time, and we were sent an email with a link to see the progress on our phone for the wait update. We sat for over 35 minutes before the "one" party ahead of us was called for their table, then we were seat a couple of minutes later. We counted over 6 vacant tables in the dining room, plus more empty tables in the bar area and outside covered patio, with several tables still needing to be cleared. Management needs to be on top of what is happening, hire bussers to quickly clear and turn tables, and obviously get more servers on a busy night. After getting seated next to the party (basically at the same time) that was next to us in the waiting room entry, we waited another 15 minutes until the server approached us (she was busy taking the order from the people seated next to us, and trying to help the people who were already finishing their dinner). Although the server was friendly, personable, apologetic, and trying to accommodate all her customer, plus clear her own tables, she was overwhelmed. No need to have 3 receptionists at the front door, talking, wiping down menus, straightening out screwed up pick-up carryout orders (watched the customer stand at the counter for over 20 minutes while the order was corrected/missing items). Food is good, but overpriced, Side salad needs more lettuce (vegetables), and far less croutons. Minimum of 10 traditional wings too much for one person, especially when you can not have 2 flavors (anywhere else give diners the option to have/try 2 flavors). Also need to serve wings with celery slices AND carrot sticks. Fried haddock fish was just okay, parts of fillet had more breading than fish, skimpy with the tartar sauce - had to ask server for the side of tartar sauce that was missing (no malt vinegar available), and for the price the fish dinner should include a small side of Cole slaw or other option. Server did not know you had any non-alcoholic beer (your QR Code for beer menu did not work). Our order did come out of the kitchen fairly quickly after our long wait to get served. Last issue, the Men's washroom door (without any partition) allows for diners to see guests standing at the urinal whenever the door to the room opens... no an appetizing view! read more

So sad but once of the worst meals I have had , I am petite eater so I frequently order from kids menu to take home cuz restaurants won't allow it. So I asked for three traditional mango habanero with Cesar's salad, side of onion rings and meal came with small drink, well after work tired and hungry stop for my meal that preordered, took my bag and left , when got to my car they gave me garden salad with no dressing, no drink and no utensils, and no ranch so here I go again for my missing items , well it took another ten minutes to give the Cesar salad, the ranch and the drink. And I guess they thought I was from from the caverns as they didn't provide utensils it napkins. Onion rings were soggy and extra greasy no flavor, the worst salad I ever had because they used the green part that you are not supposed to eat because it's sour and the wings soggy, disgusting, no flavor dry , they were supposed to be mango habanero oh well I never tasted it, so bad meal I didn't know I ordered from MC where they never give the right order. Service was outstanding, I think we went during the soft opening November 8th. Ordered the pizza logs and the Buffalo classic combo, a weck, five wings and side. OMG, the pizza logs were amazing, felt like I was back home and 10 again!! Being from Buffalo the weck was perfect, horseradish exactly what it should be with a side au jus. The wings were large, exactly what I would expect from a Buffalo wing establishment, however, we asked for extra crispy and they were so far from that. The wings were very soft and not crispy at all.
