Much better than outposts we tried of the two big national chains and seemingly the only place on the far east side of town. Feels very non-corporate inside, like a neighborhood place. Staff friendly, helpful. Great deal on dark meat - thighs and legs. Fried as you wait, not off a warming table. Very good crispy coating, still had some crisp the following day on room temp chicken. Fries good. Livers pretty good but not as good as livers prepared with a reduction of aged balsamic. Gizzards just not my thing, keep them for soup. We'll be back. read more

We went here, because this place was nostalgic for my friend who went to the University of Arizona. We shared the four-piece steak fingers junior dinner. The fries were delicious (crispy and fresh), but the steak fingers were tough and tasted like they may not contain any cow (if you know what I mean...). Decided to stop by with my buddy when the big sign caught our eye. Fun spot with solid food. You're getting what you ask for. Chicken. Standard chicken. However the fries took the show with this one being the perfect amount of crisp. On the downside, their "signature sauce" is literally cocktail sauce, shitty cocktail sauce. I haven't eaten Lucky wishbone in years and I am so glad I decided to stop for a quick lunch. I got their shrimp combo that comes with shrimp toast, french fries and they're amazing cocktail sauce. I think I could just go and purchase the cocktail sauce. I love it. I did my french fries in it as well as my shrimp. The food is made to order so it's always hot fresh and delicious. I don't know what you guys did to your gizzards but they taste horrible the one on Old Nogales Highway and I went to the one on Campbell and Grant and the gizzards taste either gave me or like burnt plastic they are not the same you guys need to stop changing things around cuz you're going to lose a lot of customers they were disgusting I usually order mine well done so I don't taste so much of the gizzard but it was horrible go back to the original gizzards I'm going to have to find another place to get my gizzards well done totally disappointed read more

A Tucson classic with great fried chicken. The combo meals are a must;, fried chicken, greasy fries and toast with lots of garlic butter. You have to get the wishbone sauce, for 50 cents and pour it all over the chicken. So good. They also have steak and chicken fingers, liver and gizzards, hamburgers and wings. read more

Sadly, yesterday was so disappointing, not so much the food as the service. They had missed my coleslaw, which can happen. However, when I called instead of offering a refund, the young man told me to return. Not likely given the distance. Then he said he could give me a store credit against a future visit. Again, not very acceptable. Also, instead of swapping out sauces, he had charged me extra for two. To be fair, however, today the manager called me to apologize and gave me a full refund (except the two sauces, which had been rung up separately). I hold Lucky Wishbone close to my heart; My mother and step father use to go to Tucson and would bring home Steak-fingers, french fries, garlic bread and cole slaw. The dipping sauce is very vivid and stuck in my mind for over 40 years. We live in Phoenix and don't get to Tucson often. This past week we flew out of Tucson and came home on the Amtrak. We ate lunch at Lucky Wishbone then brought home a huge order to have for dinner that night. It was everything i remembered it to be and more. The heat up worked out perfect at 250 degrees for 20 min then added the toast just to warm it up and crispy. The wait was not very long, meal come in a box no napkins and no sauce which I think including something that simple would elevate customer satisfaction. The fries was fresh off the fryer and toast with butter was delicious; the chicken wings not so much. The breading was bland; I detected no spices at all. The breading was also clumps. I know inflation is rough these days but I was really underwhelmed by two skinny fish filets along with fried and toast for almost $10. Ah Lucky Wishbone, the food is old school good! It's greasy, it's unhealthy and it knows it! They're chicken breasts are out of this world succulent! They're as good cold as they are when they're fresh out of the friar! What's more their steak fingers taste like the finger of God! In other words they're divine! Their french fries are pretty stale but they reheat well because they're so greasy to start. The onion rings are too crunchy for me but a dip in the red sauce softens them up nicely! The only thing I'd warn you about, other than the fact that you cholesterol will go up eating there is that every time I get a meal there I end up with explosive diarrhea afterwards! Please note, it's not the restaurants fault. I have irritable bowel syndrome and the heavy grease in the food sets off a huge case of the green apple splatters! Again, not blaming the restaurant, I don't want them to make the good more healthy and less greasy, I'm just letting people with problematic stomachs understand the risks of eating there. Best fried chicken in Southern Arizona!! I stopped by today for lunch. The store was clean, the staff very friendly and helpful. The chicken was fresh and delicious! Perfectly golden fried with very light coating, not greasy. I had a fried wings meal, it came with fries and their signature Texas toast. Oh, the fries were the best l have had in years. Haddock was very disappointing. Very small portions for a big price. Don't bother. Also tried to set an alternate time for my pick-up and it didn't work. So my order sat there for several hours before I picked it up. When I complained they told me to talk to manager. Manager wasn't there. Said manager would call me. That never happened. Lucky Wishbone is such a sleeper hit. I lived in Tucson for 5 years and never visited it, because let's be honest, it looks questionable at best from the outside. True of all locations. But boy, was I wrong. But on a recent jaunt down to the Dirty T, my life was changed. The fella decided to try going vegan for a bit, and like the supportive gal I am, I said "Oh, okay. I'm gonna go get fried chicken." We took a quick drive over the the ole EllDubs, where I ordered the Mom Fried Chicken Box to go. It came with a hefty amount of fries, a slice of garlic toast, and three pieces of fried chicken--two dark meat, one white. The fries were excellent. So much better than I expected them to be, and to be frank, I'm a french fry snob. I consume them frequently and I know what I like; these, I adored. They were perfectly crisp, but still potatoey. Extra surprising that they stayed fresh and crispy on the fifteen-ish minute drive before I could dig in. The garlic toast, I could take or leave, which surprised me because I normally go bananas for garlic bread. But it definitely wasn't bad. The fried chicken... oooooh, Mama! The breading was spiced so perfectly, flavorful with every bite, but not overly salted. The meat was juicy, scrumptious and mouth-melty like fried chicken should be; other places often over-fry and ya end up with a dry as hell drumstick, aka one of the greatest sins man can commit (probably). Also, of my three piece meal, the two dark meat pieces were very reasonably sized, pretty much exactly what I expected from them. The white meat bb, holy mammajamma. It was basically a whole quarter chicken, and you can bet your bottom dollar that I inhaled every single centimeter of chicken offa dat carcass. Today was the day I was like "fuck it, I want Lucky Wishbone!" I come by at least once or twice a year. Little history here: This place was Tucson's first fast food restaurant- and that's way before McDonalds. Yep. This place is so iconic and has so much character since the 1960s: The menu's order sizes, "Mom, Pop, and JR's; the order numbers on poker chips; the 1960s green mint-colored veneer tiles on the walls. Unbelievably amazing greasy food. It's the crispy greasy kind- not the soggy greasy. Fries are soft but crunchy. Steak fingers dipped in its special sauce- the taste will linger in your mouth for a long while before wanting to go back! Oh and try those fried shrimp too! They're fresh as they can be. This is a nostalgic place for those who have moved away from Tucson. For new locals, stop by! Check it out! Order something greasy! This place is as famous as Dick's in Seattle, Milwaukee's Mr. Kopp's, etc. Be prepared to work the calories off in the next few days. read more

I was told I had to try this place in a Tucson because it's famous. Even so I won't be going back. I got the 7 piece sampler. 3 fried shrimp, 2 steak fingers, 2 chicken fingers. Fried shrimp were typical. Greasy. Went well with the cocktail sauce. As it should. Steak fingers were basically just deep fried batter fingers as the steak was barely there. You couldn't taste it. Chicken fingers were so small I thought it was a joke. They were literally as skinny as my pinky finger. The fries were okay. I have no idea why cocktail sauce is what they would serve with fries, steak and chicken fingers though. You'd think they'd have other sauce. The people were nice at least. read more
