My husband and I went here Friday evening around 7PM. We made reservations and were quickly sat at a table that was reserved for us. The restaurant is a good size with indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a small bar and mounted TVs as well. It's also on the UofA campus on University Street, so lots of shops right outside the area! Unfortunately I was not feeling well so we had to cut our time short. However, in the short time we were there, our server, Jade, did a great job attending to us. There was even a point that I accidentally dropped a part appetizer on the floor, and she happily approached us to replace it for us. The food came out looking really yummy. However I felt my main dish could have used a bit more flavor. The spinach I added to it however (at Jade's suggestion) was amazing, and a good pairing with the pasta! We had a reservation for a girls night and our server was pretty awesome. The food did take a bit to come out but it was really delicious. I tried their new shrimp scampi and it hit the spot. My only complaint was the sauce was kinda runny. At the end our server brought us our delicious dessert and wrote out "girls night" in chocolate on the plate. It was such an awesome touch. It was too garlicky, too little chicken for the obscene amount of pasta I got, and very overcooked chicken. It's unappetizing, to say the least. The meatball starter was pretty good, though, and is the only thing I would eat again. However, I recently went back with a friend and we had amazing service and the food was phenomenal. We went for lunch time so it wasn't crowded. But the wait staff was still super attentive and made good suggestions. We ordered a Caesar salad, cheese bread and a pizza to share. All came out and were delicious. The overall experience was alright. We had been waiting for weeks to try this place! We love pasta, pizza and the location is very close to our apartment. We were seated immediately (were only 2 other tables with people) and the waitress was nice. Before we got our food, there was already drama. Apparently something happened with the table behind us and they got into with the manager. The manager was visibly and verbally angry. A lot of raised voices and back and forth. He did apologize to us. The food was sadly kind of bland. I was torn between the carbonara and the Alfred and the waitress told me to get the carbonara. The sauce tasted a little powdery and kind of like chicken top ramen. It was suppose to have pancetta bits but they were very small and almost unnoticeable. My boyfriends pizza crust was really good and it was cheesy but the sausage didn't have a lot of taste. We ended with the caramel gelato which stole the show. This review is strictly based on service with Zyon. Zyon was personable but later turned super duper fake and forgetful. We started off with a ginger beer, an Aperol Spritzer & garlic bread with cheese added. The Aperol Spritzer was a little different than usual because of the vodka. So my friend requested him to take the vodka out and just make it a traditional version. He brought out the Ginger Beer, then stated that he forgot to change the Aperol without the vodka when he put the order in. That's fine, no problem, everyone makes mistakes. My friend then ordered a Italian-Hawaiian pizza added burrata. She and Zyon had an entire convo about burrata. I ordered the vodka pasta with breaded chicken. I too had a convo about the other meats that were offered because the menu only said grilled chicken or shrimp were the options. My friend's pizza came out, no burrata... She was bummed out but was hungry so she didn't say anything.. My pasta came out fine but no silverware. I must've asked him 4 times for silverware and he kept forgetting. My friend didn't really pay as much attention because she already started digging into her pizza. After each time I asked, I saw him chatting with his coworkers. Then he would be off doing something else and not bring the silverware. This was really annoying especially because another coworker of his that started with a table of 3 the same time as us had already served all the dishes & gotten the silverware at the same time. By the time I got the silverware, my pasta was already cold. The other table was already half through their meal. When it came to the bill, we asked if the burrata was added. He acted like the convo never ever happened. 3rd thing he forgets... We split it in half. My friend paid first. Then I was second, I gave him a decent amount of tip. I was super annoyed the entire time especially because I was watching everything happening and my friend had her back turned. 1 minute later he had the audacity to come and confront about it. He said "I don't think you meant to give me that little tip" and with this coming in the most awkward way I said "oh sorry?" He replied with it's okay, "I'll have the manager refund it and you can give me a bigger one." He came back and just had to ring me up again. This is just the dumbest thing he could of done. Tip is to be earned and deserved. Tip is not to be EXPECTED. You have a job because of people who dine at the restaurant, fund the restaurant. You go to work to WORK. Your place of work pays you. Yet majority of things you repeatedly forgot and in your eyes you seem to think you are the best server at this restaurant. Originally, I gave you the amount you deserved. He really thought he got me by embarrassing me in front of my friend. Little does he know, she doesn't dgaf. Hey buddy, this is a wake up call. You're not a great server at all. Other people around you are a lot more alert and quicker than you. This is a reality check that you're less than mediocre. I'll be expecting a refund on my "low tip" check ASAP read more

*UPDATE* guess the place got sold to Gentle Ben's, really unfortunate. Was one of the best places in town, now it's just another overrated, overpriced food place on university. They jacked the prices and got rid of the best menu items, and I haven't seen any of the old staff who were fantastic. Really sucks, another restaurant tragedy. Wish Gentle Ben's didn't get ahold of it but I guess they felt threatened and new it was better than they were. *EVERYTHING BELOW IS FROM THE ORIGINAL REVIEW WHEN THEY HAD THE ORIGINAL OWNER* Been back here around 5 times now, and it has surpassed my expectations! The food is consistently great, the service is consistently friendly, and it's my new go to spot at the university. The Tortellini Alla Vodka has become by far my favorite dish, it rivals any high end Italian place in the state, and it's honestly one of the best dishes I've ever had. My mom has severe food allergies and the owner has been amazingly accommodating and helpful in figuring out what she can have, and he's honestly just a great guy who's clearly passionate about his business. The gelato is also very good, just as good as frost or any of the other places. All the servers I've had are fantastic especially Celina and Zach!. They also have a couple nights a week with live music which is really good too. Bottom line this is a fantastic place that rivals ANY of the big fancy Italian restaurants in town, and has some amazing people for employees, and a genuine great guy for an owner who cares about what he does.
