I felt like having Italian so I chose Giuseppe's. This visit was a bit different. When I walked into an almost empty dining room, the server, Alexandria, tried to direct me to a high-top table. I'm 74 years old and I just wanted a booth. She kept pushing the high-top. After I was seated in a booth, I ordered water & iced tea. The server was very pleasant except every question I asked and anyone else asked was answered with "I gotcha!" Very odd. A couple came in later, I heard her ask if they had reservations, which was weird, because there were two tables taken and everything was empty. She mentioned the high tops, the half booths, the tables should all work; they chose a table next to me. There again, "I gotcha" was every response. That response got to be very annoying. She was pleasant enough, but needed to use more professional language. I always enjoyed the Chicken Marsala, so I ordered it. I have had this dish at least 6 times, but this time is wasn't nearly as good. It seemed like the pasta hadn't been salted while boiling and the chicken lacked seasoning as well. I had to keep adding more salt & pepper. The bread they serve is always yummy. I took a portion of my dish home but ended up throwing it away. I was never really interested in eating the rest (which is not my norm). The portion size is generous but for $25 it better be. Chicken, some mushrooms & spinach and noodles. Total before tip was $31. The entire experience turned me off a bit and I think it will be awhile before I return. read more

I stopped in here to try something new since I was in the area. It wasn't bad my any means, but it wasn't fantastic either. I ordered the burratta and tomatoes appetizer and they were out. Chicken picatta for dinner was good. Fork tender and generous portion, it was very very garlic forward though. They serve bread for the table when u arrive and that was good. My one complaint is that my server never checked on me once I got my food. He didnt come back until I was done eating. I really wanted to try the lemoncello lemon drop martini but he never came back until I was ready to go. They did box my food up for me which was a nice touch. The food was good so I would go back. Just a little disappointed in the service. The dining room is simple and cute. Open kitchen and they play music that makes you feel like you are in an Italian joint which I also enjoyed. read more

The east side Giuseppe's has been our go to Itallian restaurant for guests and out-of-town visitors. The menu offers something for all tastes, and food preparation and service are consistently good. I especially like the pasta dishes but many of our guests have commented on how much they enjoyed Giuseppe's pizzas. My favorite starter is their large bowl of mussels. The sauce is delicious! Also exceptional is their bread. We often request extra servings. This is definitely a good value neighborhood family restaurant. read more

I was really hoping for a solid Italian spot in my neighborhood. We also had a gift card to use so we were looking forward to a nice night out. However, the food here is just not good. The garlic bread they bring to the table when you are seated is perhaps the best part of the meal. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer. I've never been served stuffed mushrooms that were not actually stuffed. It was a strange ball of something sitting on top of a mushroom. We also ordered the meatball ricotta pasta and the pork carbonara. The pork was very thin and very dry and the carbonara wasn't even close to tasting like carbonara. My husband also did not enjoy the meatball pasta. I will say that the service was very fast and you don't have to wait long for the food. The staff was very kind and knew their job and menu very well. The restaurant decor is also nice and welcoming. read more

Wandered in here because our Chinese restaurant was closed. We were pleasantly surprised for a 3.4 star-rated restaurant! Our waiter, Roman, was very friendly and helpful. We were immediately greeted and sealed. We were brought iced cold waters and fresh garlic bread with buttet. Bread was served hot and flavorful! We ordered their fried calamari and it was a large helping and served with a delicious spicy sauce! Calamari was delivered hot and crunchy! I ordered their sausage penne and it was good and satisfying. Perfect amount of spice. Hubby ordered their pesto penne pasta and I had a taste! It was creamy and flavorful! He loved it! I went to Giuseppe's last night for dinner. It was my second time there. We were able to get seated right away and the server got us drinks quickly. He made recommendations for appetizers and we had the Bruschetta Plate and it was so delicious. For entres I had their Cesar Salad with fresh grilled chicken and the other guest had Shrimp Alfredo. Both very good and full of flavor. They have a full bar and tons of wine but we did not have any alcolic drinks. The restaurant is well lit, there are a few tv's in case you want to watch TV and the place was super clean. 5/5 will be back soon! read more

It was my very first time there with my girlfriend and her grandma. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the waiters. I loved the food and draft beers were very solid. This isn't a typical lunch venue. This is more high end Italian food. When my brother and I arrived, there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. Our waitress came over immediately and offered beverages and water. They have a full service bar with several draught beers on tap. The restaurant itself appears to be closer to fine dining with their very nice tablecloths and place settings. We ordered the Neopolitan pizza which was a combination of mushrooms, olives, sausage, cheese and red sauce touched by some basil leaves on top. It was delicious and really hit the spot. The 2 of us finished the entire pie. After that, no room for dessert. I recommend for lunch as well as dinner. read more

It always seems that the "meal" aspect is fine - good taste, nice thick sauce. But the accompanying pasta? The sauce is more water than anything else. Literally see-through. All I can figure is that they keep the pasta in water, then when the meal is served, they plop the pasta on the plate and then add some sauce. Think I'll try somewhere else next time. read more

Restaurant is reasonably priced. Complimentary bread served with meal. Large portion sizes. The chicken in the chicken Alfredo was quite thin and chewy (overcooked) but the pasta and sauce was great. Service was pretty slow. They gave us water, then ordered drinks, the asked for appetizer orders, and then came back to take meal orders. I prefer to order soon and not wait 3 passes before ordering the meal. It just took a really long time. With than said, we would return for a second try. read more

It took 40 minutes between leaving the restaurant and delivery even though the restaurant is 6 minutes away (the driver had multiple stops). Cold food is not acceptable. If you have multiple stops then at least find a way to keep the food warm. After we reheated the food: The pizza didn't have enough sauce but was fairly good. The house salad consisted of a bunch of mixed greens, some croutons, 5 onion slivers, and 2 cherry tomatoes. The fettuccine needed salt but had lots of chicken. read more

While visiting Tucson I stopped in here for a bite before leaving town. I walked in on a sunday night and the place was pretty busy. I took a seat at the bar and ordered a plate of spicy rigatoni and a glass of their house red wine. I was given complimentary bread which the bartender said was not as good as it used to be :-( I still thought it was great so it must have been amazing before. A middle of the week outing is such a treat! The hub and I joined two friends for an early 5:00 dinner at Giuseppe's on Tuesday evening. Situated in a busy shopping center at 22nd and Harrison, there was plenty of close parking and a very short walk in the restaurant. Our friends were already seated, so we joined them. Happy Hour is between 3:00 and 6:00, with drink specials and $8.00 appetizers. It was our first visit but our friends had been many times. They decided to share a couple appies and a dinner. Their shrimp scampi smelled divine and, someone, I won't mention names, spooned up the garlic butter sauce after the shrimp were just a memory. They also enjoyed a cheese garlic bread that I tasted and definitely approved. For dinner, they ordered the chicken piccata. Two half breasts, nestled in pasta and wine sauce, made a substantial entree, certainly large enough to split. The hub and I didn't order appetizers but munched on the complementary bread while we waited for our food. The bread is divine: warm and crusty outside, soft inside. Both butter and olive oil are served for the bread. The hub ordered the meatballs in a house-made ricotta sauce with farfalle. The meatballs were tender but rather bland, he said. He did approve the pasta and sauce. I chose the eggplant parm because it is something I don't make at home, and it was terrific. Eggplant likes to soak up oil, which can make it greasy and heavy, but this eggplant was crispy and light and tasty. They were out of linguine, so it was served with angel-hair pasta and red sauce. I found the sauce, or gravy, lacking in flavor. I tend to cook and season assertively, and think it would have benefitted from some salt, pepper, garlic, and maybe onion. Service was impeccable. Our waiter was helpful and efficient. Water was kept topped off; he even came by with his trusty cheese and grater a second time. He offered and brought to-go boxes (the food was generously sized) and we looked forward to leftovers for dinner tomorrow. read more

So bummed. Walked in tonight at 7:40 to have a drink and order to go from the bartender. Walked in to an empty restaurant sans one table and thought "cool, I'll be in and out and have a drink while I wait." The crew was obviously cleaning up to close for the night (9:00) and made it a point to make me feel unwelcome and like a complete nuisance. Walked to the bar and the bartender said "that's a hostess thing." I mentioned that I wanted a drink and she replied, "she can ring it in." When I asked where I could sit she indicated anywhere after I ordered. Hostess was very sweet and probably unaware of the previous interaction and said asked what I wanted to order - I hadn't been given a menu so at that point decided my business wasn't wanted and dipped out. I really love this restaurant so I am sad that the staff wasn't interested in one more "table." read more

Went here today with a friend. He and spouse had been here previously so was excited to see if I like it as much as they did. We arrived for lunch and were the first ones there. The waitress provided us menus and explained about the lunch menu but said the entire menu was available. I decided on the regular menu item Rigatoni Bolognese. It was very tasty. I had more than enough and took some home for later. My friend had a Margherita Pizza and took some home too. He seemed to really enjoy it. It was a relaxed atmosphere. We didn't feel pushed to hurry and get out. There was a baseball game playing but the sound was down so we didn't have difficulty caring on a conversation. I paid with mine with a gift card I received for my birthday. The card did not allow a tip to be paid out of it, so I just left a cash tip. The bread was actually very good. My husband loved his salad and chicken parm sandwich. The fries were not the best. My Alfredo was in desperate need of some salt and cheese. It was saucy but it tasted more like heavy cream and needed more Parmesan. There was only one person serving at lunch time and he was having to run around like a chicken without its head. Was having a mental craving for some mussels, so I looked up mussels on yelp and Giuseppe got my eye, I recall eating their previously. Made the call, my baby girl went to go pick up my order. Oh boy when she brought the food, it looked like it had 4 servings (^^) my fur baby and I could only eat half with that nice savory broth. Had my lil babe take the mussels to put them away, hopefully I'll see them tomorrow. Walked in on a Saturday afternoon and was seated within a few minutes. We were greeted quickly and served beverages and garlic bread. The oil & balsamic vinegar on the table were an amazing addition to the soft freshly baked bread. We ordered the bruschetta for an appetizer and YOU NEED TO TRY IT. The flavors excite your palate. We used Michael's knowledge of the menu to order and I wanted to add chicken to the penne alla vodka, but he said the shrimp is better & it was a great suggestion. I basically licked my plate clean. The group I was with loved all their dishes as well. We finished with the tiramisu & the subtle espresso flavor with the softness of the lady fingers.... Incredible. We will be back!! read more

Overall a pleasant experience. Upon entering you see the opening Floorplan and it feels like a restaurant in Italy with the Italian opera playing to set the mood. Service wasn't great as it seemed the 2 servers had better things to do and the bartender who came to deliver my drink didn't acknowledge me or my guest. Now the star of the visit was good and it did leave something to be desired. The Bruchetta we had needed a small amount of seasoning as it was fine but wasn't amazing. I was saddened to hear that the Pork Carbonara wasn't available and the Chicken Picatta was slightly overly salty with the combination of capers but it didn't ruin the dish. My partners Rigatoni was good as well but also needed seasoning. At the end the service was more attentive and personable. Would I come back here? While it wouldn't be my first choice it would still be on my top 5 for Italian restaurants. read more

This is my first visit to Giuseppes. The service was quick, and the staff were friendly. The food was not that impressive. The only thing that tasted decent was the pepperoni pizza. The stuffed mushrooms consisted of stuffing on top of a sliced mushroom. It did not look edible, and it tasted plain. The pesto penne was also plain and didn't have much flavor.
