    Crispy Chewy Crust

It ain't New York but it's damn good pizza. Crispy crust, no oily cheese, just enough tomato sauce. Fresh and searingly hot out of the oven, folded in half for speed eating, it is delicious. Super clean tables, floors, and condiment bottles. Really really terrific counter staff. Take the kids, take the soccer team, there's a claw machine!

This place is really good as they make a proper NY pizza. The slices are huge and really stay true to the NY style. They have awesome daily lunch specials. The staff there are really nice and it's just great to have a local Tucson spot that serves good pizza. Def recommend this place especially for individual pizza slices that's affordable and tastes good.

Perfect as usual. Grab a family size tonight. Half pepperoni. Well done. Perfect crust sauce is delicious. Cheese ratio on point. Get in there abd get some! The service is great! The interior has been redone and looks awesome! Giant tvs! Games and more!

    2-topping slice with a soda, $8.39. December 2024.

It's been around for 49 years, but I just recently heard of it. It's your basic old school pizza shop that has a certain charm to it. The lobby has video games and pinball and the space is wide open. Unfortunately, the pizza only gets 3 stars but I'd give it 4 stars for everything else. First, the good. It's not a fancy place by any means, but it's clean, lots of seating, easy parking, and really friendly staff. I got a slice with 2 toppings and a soda for $8.39 which is reasonable. Unfortunately, the pizza is hit and miss. The cheese and sauce are uninspiring. The cheese didn't have any kind of pull to it and kind of separates on itself. I got sausage and pepperoni and the sausage is little crumbles which I love. The toppings really helped make the slice better. I found when I got to the edges/crust you could really taste the difference without toppings, tho. Would I go there again? If I were in the area and wanted a cheap lunch I think I would. Would I drive out of my way to go there? Probably not.

Delicious pepperoni pizza and a nice Amberbock in a frosty mug. Does it get any better?

Some of the very best pizza in town. Great service, friendly staff, quick turnaround for that tasty pizza.

Grease underneath and undercooked shite, half CANNED MUSHROOMS!!!

Well, well, well, I guess I had the spoiled urban palette for proper N.Y. Style pizza, maybe having come from San Diego after almost 30 years, to this Tucson food desert. Up the hill from me was Bronx Pizza, established 1997. Back when they used to use actual NYC tap water for their dough... Fast forward to month six of living on the East Side of Tucson. I had tired of the crappy, soulless chain, doughy drivel of the likes of MOD Pizza, Serial Grillers, Papa Murphy's, Pizza (H)Butt, etc. That is sadly all that I can get within a 15 minute drive out here on the perimeters. So, I found this spot on some Reddit forum, for good New York style pizza in Tucson and more or less east. The majority of members had voted for Empire Pizza, Upper Crust, Time Market, et al. But this odd east side spot for "NY Pizza" came up in a couple mentions. So my mom and I tried it out today. This was by far the WORST PIZZA I have tasted or experienced since I was in Fresno for work training in the summer of 2008. I found that place also on the internets, and in a desert too, but it was also in California, and they used freakin' CANNED MUSHROOMS on my pizza! I cried and I thought of growing up poor in Michigan with canned mushrooms. And I thought of school lunch pizzas in grade school, and how that pizza was not much better. So, who the hell stoops to a cost-cutting/taste killing low of putting CANNED MUSHROOMS ON A PIZZA??? (Inquiring minds and taste buds want to know..) We got a half pepperoni pizza and other half "mushrooms" and pepperoni. We were served a greasy, soggy, undercooked piece of shite, complete with what tasted like processed pre-grated cheese and a super bland (most likely from a can) red sauce, and add the horror of CANNED MUSHROOMS!!! I wanted to throw the goddamned thing out the car window on the way home. To add, even cooking it another five minutes under the broiler, while sopping up the grease with several paper towels, and picking off the slimy, nasty CANNED MUSHROOMS (!!!) - even then, We, I, and the the pizza gods up in the sky, could not resurrect this sad sad thing called a New York Pizza. Bronx Pizza, where are you my love??? :'(

    Double Lunch Special

Went in for the lunch special and left full and happy! Amazing staff and food! Even grabbed a 22" pizza for the kiddos at home! For sure will be returning! I also like the set up and am so excited to see when they finish the improvements!

Though this pizza joint has been here longer than I've been in Tucson (since the '70's), I only learned about it a few weeks ago from my son. I've been to New York City a few times, and, while I am no NY expert, this pizza joint closely resembles some of the places I have visited. Not a fancy restaurant by any stretch, but great service and great pizza. That's all you really need. Lots of toppings to choose from, great salads, and a nice beer selection.

Had lunch today. Meatball sub and a slice with 2 beers 23$. Guys are all so nice. Food is great sauce has a great taste. Clean environment. It's cool cause people been coming here for year. I've been coming 30+ years. New owners made some changes and I think it's great. $5.50 slice and soda everyday.

The salad portion for the prise was nice, but the pizza itself didn't tasted more special than frozen pizza. The staff were very polite while playing my order on phone and when picking it up. The ambience was okay, nothing special about it.

    Small Cheese Pizza (takeout)
    Jerry H.

Service was friendly fast and efficient. Parking was a breeze but odd. A random fence separates the adjacent parking lot and stores. While the name and setup screams NY the pizza doesn't reflect authenticity. The crust is where it gets lost. Too thick and lacks flavor. Sauce and cheese were just ok. I've only had plain cheese pizza perhaps there's some better stuff in the menu. I get a sense this place is pretty good for groups.

Busy on a Weds 330PM shortly after doors open, after 2 days off, but understand it fills up even own the patio and after tasting you'll know why :) Fine dusted parm topped a zesty house dressed $13 Caesar that was pre-split for sharing. House croutons need more of a blast in that wooded oven to crisp up as they were limp and doughy but still polished off the greens. 4/5* Love me some Mortadella and hard to find on menus even in an Italian Grinder here, so my focus lasered in on Tony Balona $18 with Burrata, smoked mozz (didn't taste any smoke) and pistachio dust (very minimal at center, wah), thick swirls of pistachio pesto and switched red sauce for garlic oil, a thin simple sauce. Pistachio not really noticeable in pesto or dust, I really enjoyed my pie, though its not as complex tasting as you might believe. Dough with it's black blisters definitely shines. 5/5* Hub's Classic Pepperoni $17 was flooded in lil' crispy cups; devoured! We were seated right away since it wasn't busy, and things started off simple enough with bread and oil. We asked for parmesan to go with it, and our server seemed unsure how to respond, eventually bringing out packet parm even though fresh was clearly available. Not a huge deal, but we found it odd. A little later, we asked for more bread. The server told us they were out but, "that they could probably make more". . He relayed it to the woman handling bread, who then made more for another table and skipped us entirely. He mentioned it again to her when he saw us looking in their direction. she looked over, and still nothing. It was awkward, since the restaurant is the size of a closet. Once the pizza came, we got up ourselves to ask for more oil and parmesan, since our waiter hadn't come to check back. We got the oil instantly since we brought us the bowl, but no parmesan. At one point my son asked for bread, again, finally it came and the server literally tossed it on the table without a word. We said thank you and he completely ignored all of us. It didn't get any better from there. The bill was dropped on the table without a word either. My husband and I kept looking at each other with confused looks. We turned the bill in with our CC, and once the server returned it, same thing, not a single interaction. We also watched the same server make another table feel like an inconvenience over something as simple as asking for a bottle of Coke instead of a can. The customer ended up backing down just to avoid the hassle. The server then told the guest, "it's fine, I can get it for you!" On top of that, staff were wearing gloves while handling food, but also touching chairs, phones, and other surfaces; kind of defeats the purpose I think? My boys also had a weird interaction with a staff near the bathrooms who was very rude to them and accused them of cutting the line, despite no one waiting. It was very strange. Bottom line: the food is incredible, no question. But the service was so bad it's hard to ignore. Best advice, get it to go and skip the experience inside.

I enjoyed trying it here but will probably not get it more than once at that price per serving size. They serve it with cheese typically but I asked for no cheese to make it vegan. The guy that took my order at the window seemed very confused/ weirded out when I asked if they charge a fee to pay with credit card. He generally wasn't very helpful or communicative and seemed generally bothered by questions. He also didn't think to mention they don't have disposable silverware for to go order (my pannisa was drenched in sauce- delicious but I definitely ended up going inside to eat it with a fork). Another staff member seemed more pleasant though and more willing to answer basic questions politely. On another earlier visit I tried their focaccia. It is a sourdough focaccia with roasted red pepper jam, rosemary and garlic. Typically it has ricotta too which I asked to remove. I loved the dough and garlic. The jam was good too, maybe a tad sweet for me though. It reminded me a tad of sweet and sour sauce. They have a margarita pizza without cheese available on the menu too.
