Friends and I went there on the first day of Sonoran Restaurant week and ordered their special menu. We were all disappointed with the food. It could be because it was the first day and they didn't have it all put together but flavors were just off. Their drinks and desserts were AMAZING though!! [[HIGHLIGHT]]And the ambience is nice and romantic.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Who knew downtown had this ambient rich dining experience all tucked away in the Leo Kent Hotel ?[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Perfect with lunch with a friend .[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Guacamole was by far the best I've had ! Great service .

I was staying for one night at the Leo Kent (hotel reviewed separately), and pleased to find that the St. Cruz restaurant right downstairs is very good! [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was there the night after Christmas so it was pretty slow--and also really really dark inside, even with late-afternoon sun technically coming through the windows.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]From what I could tell it looks nice (you can at least see the green seats around the bar, where I sat).[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] But no matter. I soon had a martini from a friendly bartender, and then started with an appetizer of blistered shishitos that was drizzled with a combo of a spicy barbecue (hoisin, I think?) and also a peanut sauce--delicious! I ordered a steak for my main that was cooked to a perfect medium rare, and that came with a side salad (I had the Caesar option). I was able to get a good glass of red wine with it as well. The menu isn't large, as others have noted, but I was happy with what I had and it was definitely more than I'd expected from a corporate-owned hotel restaurant. If you're staying overnight, take advantage of it!

This is the restaurant at the Leo Kent Hotel, [[HIGHLIGHT]]ambiance is fantastic and again the chair at the dinner tables were very comfortable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food was cooked to perfection, I tried the St. Cruz Ahi my first night and was surprised at the pairing of seared ahi with cream, it worked. On the 2nd night I tried the jalapeno relleno which was deep fried to perfection and ended the night with a rib eye steak. The staff were incredibly nice but seemed to be understaffed for the night of the gem show and our food took quite a long time to come out. That hiccup aside I wold return in the future.

Delicious food and we had the kindest server. We had complimentary breakfast with our hotel stay and usually we don't have high expectations with that... but this was SO GOOD. I had the breakfast burrito and immediately our server said I could chose the meat (bacon or sausage) and then it was so tasty. Perfectly mixed up (like each bite had al the ingredients) and flavorful. Such a big portion I left some of it!! My bf had the basic breakfast with egg, bacon and potatoes and the potatoes were perfectly crispy and seasoned. All in all a really delicious and filling breakfast. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The staff were all really nice and the restaurant itself is luxurious.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

This place should be embarrassed re the food. My oysters were served on salt, smelled fishy, and were below room temp. I'm still here eating and I imagine I'll have food poisoning later this evening. The $40 scallops lack any finesse (see pic). My only evening in Tucson and I made the very wrong decision. The service is great.

I came here for drinks last night and thought the hotel restaurant/bar was beautiful. The spinach artichoke dip was good. The bartender was very friendly. The Honeysuckle Highball cocktail had a very strong flavor to it that started to make me feel nauseous. My friend also agreed it didn't taste good. The Betsy cocktail was just ok. It tasted flat.

ROASTED SALMON , COUNTRY POTATOES, BROWN BUTTER CORN, SEASONAL VEGETABLES

This restaurant is located inside the Leo Kent hotel in downtown Tucson, Arizona. I'm going to give this restaurant four stars. The roasted salmon I ordered was OK. I'd give it three stars. It was a little on the cold side, especially the potatoes, and the salmon had a large area that had dryness to it. On the other hand, the items we ordered off the happy hour menu were very good. My daughter said that she would give the southwestern chopped salad with added protein of chicken five stars. She is a harsher critic than I so this is an amazing judgment coming from her. We also ordered the nachos for a starter and they were simple, fresh and delicious. The girls were joking we should order more to-go to take up to our room, for after the concert we were attending. My other daughter ordered the BLT, and requested that a beef patty be subbed in for the bacon and added American cheese. She also asked for some mayonnaise on the side. Her burger looked absolutely delicious with a juicy thick, medium rare cooked patty on toasted sourdough with fresh avocado slices, and all the fixings, she got a side of french fries with this. We all love the ambience of the restaurant. It had a nice golden glow to it with subtle lighting from the walls and the tables. There was not an overhead fluorescent light in sight, thank goodness. Bright overhead lighting directly over me instantly makes me angry lol. This was a casual restaurant and I showed up in flip-flops yet the feel of it was classy with linen napkins and real silverware. There is a full bar area for seating, high chair area, tables, and booths. We were able to walk in and seat ourselves. They recommended making a reservation if you are dining later in the evening. The service was wonderful here. The weight staff continuously filled our water glasses, got our orders right with all of our substitutions, and were very friendly. I have the feeling that if I would've ordered off the happy hour menu, I probably would've given this restaurant five stars. I think most of the crowd here was ordering off of the happy hour menu so the items were coming out hot and fresh. Overall, this was a great dining experience and a wonderful way for me to celebrate my 50th birthday.

This was our breakfast at the Leo Kent St Cruz. Everything here was incredible from the service to the food. There was a bit of a weight, but that's expected with any good place. We will absolutely be back anytime We're in Tucson. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Also, the vibe in here is 10 out of 10 classy and clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We've enjoyed breakfast here each morning the five or six times we've stayed at the Leo Kent hotel. The restaurant is always clean, comfortable, and relaxing; and the staff is great.

It's a fun and also elegant atmosphere with the zebra theme clearly exemplified across the space. I would have to say this is one of the coziest bars I've been to, the furniture and seating is really supportive of a long-term visit. There are other levels, lower and an upper level besides the main space, but be aware that if there are parties, they can typically take up different areas. Our bartender, Sarah was fantastic! The way that she handled all of the guests and the busy field was incredible, so calm and collected, and furthermore making some really incredible drinks. Heads up that the online drink menu is not the current drink menu, I couldn't remember all the names of our drinks and put those in the photo captions, so when I checked on the website, the menu was showing something different other than what I saw at the bar. Out of several places I've been to, I'd say the mixture of flavors and details in the drinks are quite unique. I'll be back for more one day

We'd heard good things about this place and have been trying to support local downtown bars this summer, so we stopped in around 11 on a Friday night before heading home. As we sat down, we watched the bartender be pretty dismissive toward another group at the bar, so we were already a little unsure. We started talking about the decor because we liked the eclectic vibe. We jokingly pointed out that one of the pictures had a joint instead of a cigarette because someone in our group hadn't noticed. One of the bartender's first comments back, completely seriously, was, "I'm from San Diego. Have you never seen art before?" Honestly... what? It was such a weird, unnecessarily condescending response. I brushed it off at first as awkward banter, but it was a really strange first impression. The drinks were decent. The Loverlist was really good, and the Unicorn Fluff and Old Fashioned were fine. The bartender was quick to talk up their whiskey selection, but when we asked for a recommendation, she mostly gave reasons why she couldn't recommend anything and just kept saying they had "over 90 different options." Without a whiskey menu to look through, that wasn't especially helpful. We also asked for a shooter and were offered half of a cocktail instead. That would've been totally fine on its own, but combined with everything else, the service just never felt welcoming. We ended up leaving pretty quickly. I'd give the place another shot because the atmosphere is fun and has a lot of potential, but hopefully with a different bartender behind the bar.

I enjoy some challenging textures and flavors for the sake of experiences. What I tried over 2.5 hours: -Nixtamalized Barrel cactus fruit aged in ash with chiltepin jam and chiltepin leaves preserved in vinegar. I liked it- sweet and smokey. The barrel fruit was a tad fibrous. -Refried tepary beans with wolfberry and a green powder of globe mellow salsa verde. The powder was tart and yummy. The tepary beans tasted fairly simple. The dried cactus was nice- reminded me of kale chips. The tortillas of my friend's omni menu were very soft and pliable. -Yakitori: Barrel cactus fruit with candied Tohono O'odham Ha:l Squash, mesquite tare and marinated cholla buds reduction from last year's cholla, topped with jojoba seeds. This was a fave. -Maitake with corn rib and desert botanical bonchons. I thought the name might have referred to Banchan, the small Korean side plates of kimchi etc since there was kimchi in one of the bites on the plate but it was spelled Bonchon, "my hometown" in Korean. The heirloom corn vegemite bite was umami as expected. The snail shaped amaranth leaves white kimchi bite was tart, bold and delicious. The corn rib bite was topped with pickled yucca bud pieces on top- I loved getting to try that and loved the flavor and texture of it. A sunflower head "brisket" bite was really interesting and I enjoyed the brisket flavoring that was achieved here. The texture felt fitting for it too and it seemed clever. Likely a challenging bite for some with the flower flavors and texture in the end. The amaranth dumpling bite was filled with something else made from amaranth I didn't catch. The last bite of this plate was the Maitake mushroom with palo verde- delish. -Raw Nopal with preserved amaranth pico de gallo with agave pulque -blackened agave frozen granita with pico de gallo and pressed coriander ironwood emulsion. Vinegary and refreshing- Big hit. -Kaiseki: cactus bud, three sisters stew, cowpea and ironwood blossom. We were also given a complimentary Non- Alcoholic beverage with it: a chilled palo verde Pu-erh fermented tea. It had a light fizzy feel. LOVED the drink and it balanced the saltiness of the stew. The broth that the waiter added to the stew at the table was overly salted but the stew was good and was more filling than the other dishes so far. I liked the meaty texture of the ironwood flower. This course came with a tostada topped with refried tepary beans and prickly pear tunas and with young cactus in salt bush emulsion. -Wolfberry sorbet- served beautifully. Very sweet and single note. The waiter said the wolfberries on top were pickled and I wish I tasted pickled flavor because it would have provided balance. I tried my companions roasted Huuñ Ga'i sherbet with kombucha soaked corn and preserved amaranth flowers and enjoyed it more than the wolfberry sorbet. -Wildflowers-Cactus sorbet with frosted amaranth leaves and cactus marmalade. I would have enjoyed it more if it didn't come right after the overly sweet wolfberry sorbet. It was more balanced but I really was sweetened-out. It had some medicinal notes but was interesting. I liked the cactus marmalade pieces. I like the leaves that were super crispy but some were heavily frosted with sugar. I LOVED my companion's Wildflowers dessert. It was a warm miso cake with mesquite, brittlebush curd and cactus marmalade. The mesquite really came through here wonderfully. -Pimachata: Candied squash and aerated squash. Was craving something savory now but luckily this one was less sweet and more balanced. My companion seemed to enjoy her goat cheese ice cream. With the check, came two sticks with mesquite gummies.I love mesquite but this again was a tad too sweet now. The least positive part for me was the service. I was surprised that a place with a focus of introducing people to food of the desert they might not know about would not have the servers engage when someone seems very interested, like me. No written menu/ description was given during the meal and I tried my best to write down notes as the waiter was listing the descriptions extremely quickly in a rehearsed way without engaging with us and without slowing down much when asked. I asked for an extra note card and he gave me a blank receipt. The most confusing part was that they ended up bringing us a printed menu with the dishes listed when we finished the full meal. We were so flabbergasted as to why he wouldn't mention it was coming when I was writing notes or even better provided it at the start. It felt that the servers were very focused on doing a rehearsed part instead of engaging meaningfully. I was very happy with my pay-what- you-wish experience and I experienced all of this like art viewing. So cool getting to try so many local desert plants!

One thing that stood out during that first visit was the hostess. Since the restaurant is located inside a hotel and can be a little difficult to find, I expected a more welcoming introduction or at least some confirmation that we were in the right place. Instead, the interaction felt a bit awkward and impersonal. We returned a few weeks later (07/12/26) and happened to be greeted by the same hostess. Unfortunately, the experience was very similar. She asked how many people were in our party, I said two, and then she simply looked at her computer without saying much else. Another employee eventually came over and escorted us to our table. Throughout both visits, she never came across as particularly friendly or welcoming. As the first person guests interact with, I think a hostess sets the tone for the entire experience, so this was disappointing. On a more positive note, our waitress was very kind and attentive throughout the meal. The service once we were seated was definitely better than the initial impression. As for the food, it wasn't bad, but it also wasn't anything special, especially considering the price. Overall, it felt pretty average for what we paid. The ambiance was fine, but nothing particularly memorable. Overall, the experience was okay, but between the lack of hospitality at the front and the food being average for the price, I'm not sure I would go out of my way to come back.
