Great selection of beers on tap and the bartenders usually know where each and every can or bottle of beer is in the coolers. Food trucks every night of the week so you'll never be hungry.

More than a food truck, these guys are culinary experts!

Let me just start by saying I heart this place. Like really really really love it! It's our hang out, it's my people and absolutely love the variety of beers that they carry! So much and ever changing. At times, I step back and wonder what my choice will be, and thankfully Jack, the best beer slinger ever (also has an angelic voice ) will make a suggestion. 99 % of the time he hits it right on the nose! He makes me go out of my comfort zone with the stuff I get. Go, they are awesome beer peeps!

IF you like Arizona beers this is the place for you. We didn't stick around because we are not into IPA's.

That whole St. Philip's area always has a great energy, and UPH is a big part of that. There's usually a crowd, live music or sports on, and it feels like one of those places where you can bring friends from out of town and know it'll be a fun time. Food is consistently solid. The grilled chicken sandwich is my go-to and it's good every time. We both usually get one, and a lot of the time we'll add buffalo wings, which are some of our favorites in Tucson. Good flavor, good texture, and always reliable. If anything, the wings could always use a little more sauce, but they're still one of the better orders on the menu. The only real issue, and it happens pretty often, is the service speed. Everyone there is friendly, but the place always feels understaffed, especially when it's busy. We've had multiple times sitting outside in the Arizona heat where it takes 15-20 minutes just to get water to the table, and you start wondering if you should go up to the bar yourself to get things moving. Once service gets going everything is fine, but getting that first round of attention can take longer than it should for how often this place fills up. Even with that, we keep coming back. The food is consistent, the atmosphere is great, and the plaza has a real sense of community that makes it easy to hang out there for a while. It's one of our go-to spots in Tucson, and it's still somewhere we bring friends when they're visiting. Food 7.5 Ambience 8 Service 7 Price 7 7.4 overall C Great place to spend time, just don't expect everything to happen quickly when it's busy.

And if you've made dinner plans, or just want to have some bar food while watching sports, Union does that too! What I love: Ice-cold, bubbly bottomless mimosas on a pleasant Sunday morning. Burgers (they make a good burger) with basketball on at Sunset. This is a great hangout spot at any time of day, and service has been consistently outstanding. What I also enjoy: The breakfast food sticks to the basics, but is done well. They make surprisingly decent pizzas, if you're in the mood for that. As with everything else in the surrounding plaza, it gets busy and there's often some sort of event out front, usually a market or live music. You should drop by while the weather is still perfect!

It feels like there is ALWAYS something going on here. On my first visit, my girlfriend took me on a date here to catch a burlesque show. It was absolutely packed and everyone had a great time! And every Friday and Saturday night, there is some reiteration of a goth dance night ($5 cover). I also appreciate the slightly older crowd full of my fellow thirtysomethings, and the upstairs patio cannot be missed when the weather is nice. The cocktail menu isn't anything especially fancy, but there's still something for everyone to enjoy. My favorite is always the Prickly Heat--think a prickly pear margarita that's absolutely loaded with fresh jalapenos. It's not for the weak! There's also food, and while it's not mind-blowing or anything you'll appreciate that you can have a nice snack at midnight on a weekend. Surly Wench is a local cultural institution, and we're lucky to have it.

Now it's a busted old bar where everyone from the waitstaff to the uptight Unbelievably stuck up KJ takes themselves way too seriously. Especially on a Thursday night. These jobs are a skill, talent and a privilege, one that is terribly lacking at the Surly wench. They have taken the wordmark and instilled it into their personalities. Maybe, sadly it's time for the once mighty and always fun wench to move on and embrace the brave new world. Seriously a bummer!

We needed a little more time to choose the right beer. My partner wanted a pilsner, but unfortunately they didn't have one available at the time, so we went with their famous Barrio Blonde. I've had Barrio Blonde on many occasions at other places, but this one tasted unusually bitter and a bit flat. It seemed like the beer may have gotten warm at some point and was later cooled again, affecting the flavor. We were hungry, so we ordered the patty melt. The burger was good, with a flavorful patty and perfectly toasted bread. The bathrooms were also very clean, which is always appreciated. Overall, service was friendly and attentive, but the beer quality this visit was disappointing.
