I stopped by this place on my drive back from Phoenix. It was one of the last breweries I hadn't visited yet in Tucson and only because they do not allow dogs inside or on the patio. That means I can only stop by in cooler weather. Yesterday was such a day, with temperatures only in the 50s. I parked under the shade of a palo verde. It was 3:30pm and there were a good ten people on the patio. I've had their wheat beer before and it is quite good, but I wanted to sample other varieties now that I was at the taphouse. I picked the fruity strawberry wheat and sat outside on the patio. Even in the sun, it was chilly, and there were no heaters on the patio. The owners have a passion for beer and their enthusiasm shows. They answered all my questions as I looked around, but I could tell that they also take this covid pandemic and the restrictions very seriously. Only 25% occupancy is allowed inside. Only one person at a time can go inside and order, then take the beer on the patio. I was chilled and would have preferred being inside, but since the dogs were in the car I sat outside. I was not very comfortable in the chill. The inside is very cozy, too. I'm not so sure why the owners are so anti dog. This really forces me to take a star away. Not having heaters on the patio is also not good. read more

Button is on the Northwest side of town just around the corner from Catalina Brewing if you're interested in a double-header. Button has indoor seating, as well as a patio covered with a canopy. Food trucks set up across from the patio. Performers typically are on the patio. While trains on the nearby tracks may be heard on the patio, there's not a trace of them indoors. On to the beer! The Tucson Traveler (year-round) is a light, smooth blonde ale. I personally like this one with the Sea Salt Caramel [Popped] Artisan Popcorn that's available for purchase. Next is the Button Amber (year-round), a fuller yet still smooth ale. This pairs nicely with the Rosemary [Popped], a slice of pizza, or another savory of your choice. Finally, the Chiltepin Red (year-round) brings heat and ale together. It smells like hot pepper, and sipping will warm the back of your throat. I was very happy to discover this brewery during a Yelp event for a food truck in their lot. The inside is comfortable enough for a few dozen people and they have large space for outdoor seating with shade and heaters. I tried the Button IPA and really liked the crisp, hoppy flavor. It looks like they also have cool events through the week, including trivia, drag queen bingo, and live music. If there aren't any food trucks, you can also order pizza from nearby Monsoon through the bar staff. Will definitely be coming back to try their other beer selections. read more

My friend and I stopped in here after kitty yoga at Catalina brewing company. I called ahead to make sure I could bring in outside food, which you can. They have food trucks on some days too. We arrived around 1 on a Saturday and it was very quiet. My friend got a flight and I tried their IPA and Pilsner. The IPA wasn't inspiring but the Pilsner was delicious. Todd was very accommodating in answering our questions and being attentive. None of the beers in her flight left an impression on me. Not to say they're bad, just not memorable in a sea of breweries in Tucson. I do like their camaraderies with other local breweries like the fun run to Catalina or bike ride to 1912. They seem to always be thinking of fun events to do. I didn't like their unfriendliness towards dogs. Dogs are not allowed, not even on the patio. They said it was because of the dander and cross contamination for the beer (which is in another room) and the fees and hoops needed to have a dog friendly patio. Tucson is an extremely dog friendly place and to have a perfect patio not be dog friendly was a bummer. Overall not a bad experience! Just a bit underwhelmed. read more

You walk in to a table blocking the entrance to seating, and people sitting at the bar look like royalty as you stand behind the table like a pauper, or maybe a leper, waiting to be recognized. And there can't be five people inside the door so you get asked to wait outside. Meanwhile, the place around the corner has all kinds of people inside and a band cranking out the music. Everyone behind the bar is really knowledgeable and there are always fun events happening every week. Their beers are all brewed in the traditional styles. You'll find a great Pilsner, German-inspired brews like Berliner Weisses, a Scotch Ale and various styles of IPAs, among many others. This place is no frills. They won't make a blueberry pie beer or put fried chicken or other weird stuff in what they brew. You're going to find something here you like if you're a beer drinker and even their lightest beers have a ton more flavor than any macrobrew you see in commercials. The owners are really nice, cool people and they run a family business in every sense of the term. Cozy microbrewery and one of the few that take take the time to create a respectable lager. Lagers take longer to brew but so worth the wait. Most microbrews don't make the effort and care to turn out a larger. Volstad Pilsner and Brother's Joy are so tasty and rival some favorite commercial ones in taste/ quality. Seems the launch a new beer every 2-4 weeks. Haven't had a beer yet that I didn't like. Comfortable indoor seating (bar top and tables) was well as a semi covered outdoor seating area. They have a rotating food truck schedule so it's not always the same eats each time. Great overall atmosphere, great beers, fun and friendly staff and patrons. This was my first time at Button Brew House. This is a different experience than a lot of other places in town. It's not a restaurant, but they don't mind if you bring in your own food. They don't do cocktails. They really do one thing, they make great beer. I was able to talk to Christa about the different brrrs on tap. The Button's have quite the brewery here! If it's your first time here, make sure you do the full 12 tasting flight because each beer is meticulously crafted and needs to be tried. My top pics are the Marzen, NE IPA, and the Berliner Weisse with raspberry syrup (just try it, trust me). There's a nice little bar and tables inside as well as covered seating outside. They have snacks, non-alcoholic drinks, and even root beer on tap for those not partaking. I highly recommend this brewery that obviously has a truly passionate beer lover behind it! read more

Such an amazing local brewery! The beers are all top notch- I have yet to try anything I didnt enjoy. They cycle out their taps and feature guest breweries from time to time. Although seeming to be a red headed step child of the Catalina Brewery, we were told it is separate and distinct and the offerings show it. More body and fuller flavor to the brews.
