Came here again after many years. Dragoon IPA is still one of my favorite IPAs, and this coming from someone who doesn't really like IPAs. I came here with my husband and son on a Friday night. Not too busy and they don't serve food but have a rotating food truck out in their parking lot. You'll see the sign for the taproom from the road and turn in. Continue all the way down past the shipping docks and you'll see the sign once you make a left. Decent amount of parking available. They sell more beers than what you see of theirs in the stores. They also have rotating guest beers. Pours are offered in 4oz and 10oz, which is nice if you don't want to drink too much or are trying to pace yourself/taste different beers. They also sell various merchandise, likes hats, shirts, etc. One thing I'm starting to add in my reviews is if there is a changing table now that I have a baby. They have a changing table in the large stall in the women's bathroom; not sure about men's bathroom and they do not have a family restroom. read more

What a spacious and beautiful brewery! We stopped by on a Friday night for a record sale, and I was genuinely impressed by both the service and the quality of their beers. I asked the beertender if I could sample a couple of their wheat beers, and they were more than happy to help. I ended up going with their American Wheat (super refreshing, crisp, and easy to drink). My friend opted for the Pilsner, which was just as solid and well-balanced. The only downside is that they don't serve the beer in proper glassware (everything comes in plastic cups), which takes away a bit from the overall experience. That said, the atmosphere is great, the staff is friendly, and the beer is delicious. Definitely a spot worth checking out read more

Guy pouring beer was very friendly & polite, & immediately offered to refill my water bottle from his h2o tap--very thoughtful! We tried a sampler of our choice, which we enjoyed. Spacious interior, but dark. It has a warehouse type feel. My husband enjoyed the beer. It's a shame because they don't have any options other than beer: No wine, no cider, no soda. One of my administrative assistants was celebrating a milestone birthday and invited her peeps to join her for a Friday happy hour. It turns out her nephew is one of the co-owners! It's a bit hard to find -- there is a long 100 meter driveway that takes you to the (large) recessed warehouse/taproom behind the businesses (Ace & Arby's) that line W. Grant Rd (see pics). Inside, the taproom is cozily lit, with wood and iron tables and chandeliers and tall ceilings (to accommodate the gigantic fermentation towers on the other side of the taproom which can be seen via strategically placed windows). The co-owner, Tristan, was all too happy to give a few of us a private tour of the brewery, a tour that ended up lasting almost an hour and filled with fascinating details about the origins of the brewery and the entire mechanics and science of craft brewing. Dragoon sells kegs and cases to many of the major local establishments - from Club Congress to Costco. I lean towards hefeweizen and sours and while they currently don't have either on tap, the "Farmhouse" (blue corn and agave) was delicious. Their tap menu typically offers 10-12 beers (see pic), all brewed on premises in their fermenting tanks that range from 30 - 90 barrels each (see pic). Prices are super reasonable too, with 16 oz pours around $6-7 and 10 oz pours averaging $4. They offer flights as well. If you're a westsider you surely know about this place and now I do too! Parking is easy in their large private lot and swag - from t-shirts to mugs - is some of the coolest I've seen (I forgot to photograph)! read more

I had the Amber beer. I'm new to beer in general so I can't rate it professionally but I enjoyed it! I also tried blood orange wheat and that was sooo good! I also went on a line dancing night and it was so much fun!! I wish the dance area was bigger and the music was a little louder but other than that the place has good lighting and nice vibes. I also want to shout out the bartender Stout! He was so friendly!! He was so patient while we figured out what we wanted and he was very welcoming the whole time!! With a name that was born to be in the beer industry, he made the visit a 25/10 rated visit. Very knowledgeable, very personable, and 1006% a reason why I would come back next time. Hire more Stouts. Beers were good according to my husband and the brewery was very spacious. My husband was complaining the whole time which is very rare(myself and our kids were in our hotel room while he kind of kept me in the loop about his visit. We literally have well over 70+ brewery shirts/sweater/jackets from all the diff breweries we have been to and visited. This was in our bottom 3 as far as the vibe. My husband is BEYOND social and said that when he tried to make conversation with the guy working he absolutely wouldn't engage and said it was just very weird. Because he saw the guy talking to people that looked like regular. So def doesn't make us really eager to make a return anytime soon. Esp when our state has so many other options. read more

Brewery is situated off Grant road in an industrial complex but once inside it's all about the beer. The offerings to go are right near the front with a descriptive sign letting you know what is available & at what price. At the other end is a very large chalkboard with all of their brews listed in detail. Food trucks are often parked outside as the brewery serves no food inside. One of the employees named Stout has handled my orders almost every time & he's easily engaging & informed about their products. They rotate seasonal brews through the taps & often revive limited editions from time to time (Palomino IPA). Of the many craft brewers in Tucson this one is certainly on my fave's list. read more

Located on west Grant, this taproom is nice and dark inside, and serves as a welcome respite from the sun and heat. Well, it would, if they carried cola! I realize it's a taproom, but someone's gotta drive, and the only non alcoholic beverage on hand was a craft root beer. Being allergic to sasparilla, I passed. I got a tiny taste of a stout that was delicious, and my dad got two IPAs or at least, he ordered two IPAs. His second beer....wasn't. He said it was tasty, though. They have merchandise up front, including socks! I actually got my dad one of their t shirts for Christmas so he can represent, so keep them in mind for gifts. They offer off sales of their beers, including ones that are unavailable in stores. I highly recommend the location, and the product sold in stores. read more

First off, fan of Dragoon. But became a bigger fan after a recent experience. Here's the TLDR version. 1. Bought a keg of Refraction. 2. Realized the original kegging date was close to 60 days prior. 3. Called Dragoon. They offered to refund the purchase. I accepted. 4. Drank refunded beer. 5. Drove back to Tucson to return keg shell. 6. Stout, Dragoon's manager, heard my story and offered to buy me a beer. I declined, so he comped me a special 4-pack of Palomino IPA Now that the sequence of above events portrays me as someone who just accepts free beer (guilty!), the least I can do is write a deserving 5-star review for Dragoon's beer, service, and outstanding staff. I'm a huge fan! My husband and I were here last weekend while I was in town for business (we came here after my work day was done, of course). Seating was a little lacking, and there was only one bartender working during happy hour but otherwise this place is on the good list. Best. Beer. Ever. Wait I'm supposed to say more right? Ok let's dig in. Dragoon is my favorite Tucson brew hands down. I say Dragoon as in all the beers because you can literally not go wrong here. The IPA is definitely their most popular but I really love their more indie batches too. Some all time bests in literally no order because you cannot make me choose the favorite of my beer-children: 1. Canadian Tuxedo think a really dressy PBR with more flavor 2. Jack Porter, aka the most perfect porter I have ever had the opportunity to sample and 3. Saison Blue, crisp and delicious on a summer night 4. The OCHO, Russian Imperial Stout, creamy finish and perfect end to your meal or your dranks 5. Stronghold Session, just that perfect go to beer that pairs well with everything. Now let's talk about the brewery as an entity. They feature a food truck Wednesdays-Saturdays so you can get a little nosh while you drink. This brewery is also so cool in that they do Bootcamps, Yoga, and even Bike Ride events. I recently partook in the Transit Cycles to Dragoon this past week and was so impressed with how nice everyone was and how cool the event was in general. Even for an amateur cyclist such as myself. Most of these events get you a discount on a beer or include a beer in the cost of the event. I cannot even believe that! Finally got to see the brewery after drinking so much of their IPA around town. It's a little tough to find the exact location because the entrance to the taproom is in the back not facing the street, but just look for the big silver silo out front and you're in the right place. Very industrial, open, spacious inside. Very packed at 5p but plenty of seating. If you're not familiar with the beers, a sample flight is the way to go. I was pleasantly surprised that it's $6.50 for 4 generous pours. You can drink in house and order 4-packs to go (growlers and kegs, too). The bartenders are friendly and helpful. They have Geeks Who Drink trivia night. Would like to do a tour someday. But if you're a fan of beer and supporting local businesses, this is a place to check out. read more

The place itself is large, surprised it wasnt more crowded when i went at 130pm on a saturday. But a group of 15 cyclists did just leave, sooo.... Anyway, the beer. I tried two diff ones, driving, womp. BA biere del bac, and the stronghold session. The BA del bac was rum heavy and decent, medium body and smooth. The steonghold tasted much like a brown and not like an american mild as they classify it. Label it a brown ale and this is pretty damn good for a brown ale. Pricing: amazing. My wife andI were on vacation in Tucson and decided to try out Dragoon. I tried out their Dragoon IPA, solid IPA and the place is kind of industrial looking. Lots of dark colors and the brewing area is pretty large in the back. They have a ton of beers on the chalkboard for you to try, with lots of barrel aged beers. I liked that their prices were reasonable too, and you can get samples if you want. A totally fun spot. It would really be a great place for a groom's dinner. Tucked away in an industrial space, you'll probably need your Google Maps lady to properly direct you to this hidden brewery in the dark of night. They offer no food - only tasty brews, so grab something from the food truck that's hopefully chilling outside. Dragoon is a well lit, high ceiling'd open warehouse with a good amount of seating. You can see on their larger-than-life chalkboard what beers they have to offer you on the day you finally decide to grace them with your presence. I tasted a couple beers and enjoyed most of them. This is a good brewery in Tucson, AZ. I was visiting my parents in the area and wandered in. My first impression is mostly that the place is impossible to find! It's in the back of an industrial complex that you have to drive down a dark, unlit service road to get to. I'm used to craft breweries in some obscure places, but some better signage would be much appreciated next time! Or maybe even just some lights on the road? But, as for the actual beer- I got a barleywine and their seasonal lager, both of which were excellent beers. They both had a rich, nutty flavor that I enjoyed. I generally prefer sour beers, lagers, and wheat ales, and their menu had more IPAs than anything, but they did have some options for everyone. And I adore barleywines when their available, so props for having that! The brewery has a good vibe to it, definitely tapping into the industrial complex feel. Was a pretty quiet night when I was there, but I'm curious to see how it is on a busier night! Service was a little poor. There were 2 bartenders, both seemed a little distant. They had some regulars visit who they were quite social with, but seemed otherwise distant/formal towards everyone else. Overall a good, solid brewery. I don't think I've even awarded five stars to my favorite breweries back home in Albuquerque, so this is pretty huge, but well-deserved. First off, the Dragoon IPA is as good as the reviews on Beer Advocate led me to believe, which is to say their a close second to La Cumbre's Elevated IPA for best IPA in the southwest. Second, every other beer in here was either outstanding or so adventurous as to be deserving of praise. The Imperial Stout here was superb, rich, malty, a great complex profile and was not dominated by alcohol like many ISes. The double IPA was, interestingly enough, a shadow of the IPA but still good. The Berlinerweiss was intensely tart, yet light and refreshing. The dark session beer had great roasted malt nose and flavor and did great justice to the name session. Oh, and they had the IPA on cask when I arrived and it was mind-blowing. Add to this a cool staff that are laid-back and not the least bit pretentious, plus very reasonable prices of $5-6 a beer and $7 for a flight and this place would easily be my go-to brewery if I lived in Tucson. The only drawback is that it is a bit of a journey to get to and if the place every really gets popular they do not have the space to accommodate folks, but I'm sure they'll cross that bridge when they get to it. read more
