Well I have been coming here for about 3 years and enjoy the pizzas and beer. It has been a while since I was last here so maybe I am behind the times but the cost is outrageous. Just over $37 for a pizza to go and a beer while I waited. Granted the pizza I like the taste but the cost too much and the bartender, well she was impersonal and just takes away from the cool little neighborhood bar I had come to like. Again it could be just me but I think I will go to elsewhere.

Decided to stop by after attending a show at Hawaii Theatre. The place was packed but the food actually came out really fast. We ended up ordering a lot of food and it was all good and fresh. We got the white pie and the giacamo (my personal favorite). The caprese salad was really good and so were the jalapeño poppers. I haven't been here in a very long time and glad I decided to stop by.

Fantastic customer service, awesome pizza and an Irish Aloha Attitude that makes you feel at ease with a vibe to please! Five Fabulous Stars for a great atmosphere and pizza with BEER!

Half & Half: Spinach & Garlic and Giacomo pizzas

So happy to report that even with the loss of one J, J. Dolan's is still one of the best bar restaurants around! The vibes are a classic Irish pub/American bar, with the decor and general vibes immediately putting you in the right state of mind. The service is always friendly and expedient. You can tell they're here to get $hit done, and well, but not so rushed that you feel like you're a bother. Love it. Wide range of beers on tap. Cold and refreshing. The fries and onion rings are SO crispy. Amazing. And the star of the show: the pizza. The crust is the perfect combination of lightly fluffy yet thin and crispy to perfection. You can build your own pie, or order from any one of their delicious signature flavors. You can also order half & half! My go-tos are the Spinach & Garlic (generous portion of spinach and freshly chopped garlic with huge dollops of gooey ricotta) and the Giacomo (sausage, pepperoni, salami, and olives). Top-notch food, service, and vibes. You just can't go wrong here. Love it love it love it.

Atmosphere is that of a classic/retro pub and they were open for some late night bites. Got the Margherita pizza and it hit the spot - foldable and crisp, able to share with friends. The smell of pizza wafting was too irresistible and I'm glad me and a friend stopped by - Miguel Morales Photography

Visiting J. Dolan's is something out of 80's tv show like Cheers. It's a good size bar located across from Hawaii Theatre. Public pay parking is right in the front. I couldn't help but notice their wooden tables and chairs, nostalgic arts on the wall and big bar counter. Very clean vintage look that I appreciate as I get older. Yes this is a bar with great pizza and affordable adult drinks. Don't expect extensive menu. It's a pizza joint with simple menu. I always appreciate simple menu items made well. This place used to be called J. J. Dolan's but life happens and name was changed but it's a same place when it was called J. J. Dolan. As for the pizza, it's simple, good, and not greasy at all. I am not sure where else in Hawaii you can get this New York or mainland style pizza aside this place. I also got Irish Red beer for $8.50, dark color beer but light. Service is excellent and efficient. We came around 5:30pm-ish and the dinner crowd started trinkling in. If you don't mind the old area of downtown for good pizza, this place won't disappoint you.

Fish and Chips and Chicken Wings

Okay I have to update my review because I've now gone out of my comfort zone and tried their Fish and Chips and the Fried Chicken Wings, and both are SO GOOD! All of it is fried perfectly and I'm making this review after I've already gone back three times craving the fish... The Bleu Cheese dip for the wings is also really good and I never get bleu cheese lol! Food here is always consistent!

Great spot to grab pizza to go. Pizza was New York style with a thin crust, meaty toppings and you can add extra toppings as well. The dough was perfectly chewy and thin. Sauce was so flavorful! Parking is metered parking out front. Hidden gem downtown.

Margherita and Boardwalk pizza

First walking in, it is on the smaller side compared to the other location in Kahala. However, the vibe was more of a small pub feeling which was nice. Bartender, Pierre was awesome and we received our drinks quickly! We found ourselves a table, which I felt was first come first serve style. I could be wrong, but we grabbed what was an available. Bubbles, our waitress was extremely friendly and attentive! The pizzas are always delicious and we are never disappointed! Our favorites are the magnetite and boardwalk. Boardwalk has a lot of garlic, so if that's not for you, wouldn't recommend. We enjoyed our time and look forward to coming back!

5 cheese pizza with pepperoni. Thin, crispy goodness with lots of cheese! Wing dings are always a win.

Pizza and wing dings were so good. Only had one waitress but she made her rounds quickly. The vibe here is pretty chill and we are definitely coming back for more!

Dropped into J. Dolan's in Downtown Honolulu after a long day, craving NY-style pizza and a cold beer at this Irish pub spot on Bethel St. The thin-crust pepperoni pie came out crisp with decent cheese pull, but the sauce felt a bit flat and the toppings sparse for the price--solid for island pizza, just not mind-blowing.

We loved this place! It was a bar and restaurant with bar theme thoughout. It was not so busy when we arrived. We decided to eat here before going to a show at the Hawaii theater. It is easy to miss between the dilapidated store fronts and the unhoused sleeping on the ground. We ordered pizzas and salad and fries. We thought the fries were too salty but everything else was very tasty. My favorite was the margaritas pizza. The Jersey white pie and boardwalk combo were good too. The restrooms were clean and the service was excellent. We missed dessert, none on the menu. We would consider going again if we are in the area.

Spinach and garlic pie

Incredibly delicious pie! I wanted something different from all the heavy Hawaiian food we were consuming on vacation. As delicious as they were, I just needed variety and J. Dolan answered the call. The fresh spinach and chopped garlic pizza was the perfect choice. The light flavors of the ricotta and spinach went well with the savory garlic and incredible crust. Surprisingly, as much as I wanted to avoid feeling heavy....we finished the pizza. It was impossible not to. After the first slice, we couldn't put down our food and we kept digging for more. At least we didn't order another one because it was definitely considered. So at least I got variety, but my lack of self control continued the trend of feeling heavy...but who cares? We're on vacay!

Are the business hours Monday to Saturday 11am-2am/Sunday 11am-10pm or Monday to Saturday 11am-12am/Sunday? I see these two different business hours on the internet. Which is the true business hours? What is the dress code?

They're open 7 days a week. The dress code is casual

Where can you park?

There is metered parking on their end of street of Bethel. Also on Pauahi by the Hawaii Theater. Mark's Garage is right across the street. There is also a parking lot on the left but not sure what the rates are.

Do they offer a gluten free option?

Sorry, we do not have gluten free options for pizza nor appetizers. Only our salads without the dressing would be gluten free.

Is the Kahala location open?

Not yet! Another month!

Did they change their name from J.J Dolan?

Yes. In 2018, one partner stepped away from the business and it became J. Dolan's

Is this place open for dine in?

Yes, we are!

Are you offering delivery?

We do not, but some of the delivery company's will pick up from us. Try DoorDash or Postmates. Some other might, too! Keep in mind, we don't have contracts with them.

Now I was there from the beginning as my office was in that building, so I was a regular till I moved, I always thought it was JJ Dolans not J Dolans?

it was JJ Dolans until the partners split and then it became J Dolans.

Do they make Calzone or Stromboli & if not, would they be able to?

I'd recommend that you call them at (808) 537-4992 or stop by and inquire. There pizza is very… Read more

We had a friend visiting from Scotland and wanted to give him an authentic pub experience, and Murphy's delivered in every way. Fridays after work are especially great here, the place fills up with energy, and for some reason the Guinness just tastes better. We grabbed seats at the bar, always the right move, and were taken care of by bartenders who were friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. My buddy and I stuck with pints of Guinness while my wife enjoyed a dirty martini. The food did not disappoint. Corned beef and cabbage, a breaded pork chop with mashed potatoes, and a salmon Caesar salad all hit the spot. The back bar is packed with memorabilia and old photos, so much history that you could grab a pint and wander for an hour just taking it all in. The shuffleboard was another highlight and quickly turned into a few competitive games. What really stood out was the crowd, so many regulars stopping in, greeting each other, and chatting with the staff, it truly felt like a Cheers-style place where everybody knows your name. Murphy's works just as well for lunch or dinner, and it is perfect for both locals and visitors. Thanks, Murphy's, for making it such a great night for our Scottish buddy.

Good thing we did because after we were seated and ordered by our favorite server, Pepe, because the place filled up real fast. Brick fire tavern is good but European style and not the staple NY style. Much to my delight I finally tried this place - the hub had told me that it was opened by one of the original owners of JJ Dolan. Well he must've been the one who knew how to make real pizza. This Jersey tomato pie was so friggin delicious I coulda finished the whole thing myself except that I had also eaten some of their excellent and perfectly cooked fish and chips. First the pizza - it was almost like grandma style bc he drizzles more tomato sauce on top of the cheese. Not truly grandma style bc the toppings and cheese don't go all the way to the edges but honestly I'm a crust lover and their crust is super delicious and crisp. The sauce is amazing. It's not a huge slice like a real NY pizza but the flavors are all there. Fish and chips - I'm never big on this dish but these were cooked perfectly. Came out hot and crisp and light not oily. These fries were perfection - crispy, hot, seasoned but not too salty and potatoey on the inside but not too much. The fish was not oily and hot and perfect texture. The ambience is an Irish pub with character not a dive. There's a pay parking lot steps away. And for lunch it's practically empty on the weekday. They confirmed they do takeout and I will definitely be back to get pizzas from here.

We made it in time for their happy hour, which runs every day of the week from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. There's a "sous vide Old Fashioned" on the Happy Hour menu that I ended up ordering two of during my visit. I thought the Old Fashioneds were stiff, spirit forward, and not overly sweet -- just the way a well-made Old Fashioned should be. For only $10, it's hard to beat. I was tempted to order a cocktail off their "pick-me-up" menu, a small set of cocktails that are made with a 72-hour cold brew coffee, but decided against it since I would be taking a red eye later in the evening. We got seated at the bar and the staff we interacted with were nice and attentive during our entire visit. The only thing I didn't really particularly enjoy about Pint + Jigger was the atmosphere. One part of the restaurant looks like a classy upscale whiskey bar, with bottles that stretch from floor to ceiling and a sliding ladder to access the rare bottles located at the top. However, the other side of the restaurant looks like a Dave and Buster's, with a shuffleboard table and multiple large TVs broadcasting sport games. It feels like they're trying to cater to all audiences -- which is fine, because they're located in a hotel and that's how you capture more customers. However, if you're looking for a more relaxing vibe, you might want to look elsewhere, since it's entirely up to chance if you'll have a family with a screaming child halfway across the restaurant.
