We went here after bowling on Monday June 15 around 12:30 or so. It was half full as it's not a really big restaurant. I would guess about 7 tables maybe. The tables can move to accommodate more people in your party. We usually have five people in ours. It's a good place for pizza and sub sandwiches. It's nice and comfortable. Our server was Mai. She always takes care of us. Yeah we have been here before. It's about time i wrote a review. They have good parking here in the back of the restaurant. I ordered my usual which is the mini combo 8"pizza. It comes with pepperoni, Italian sausage, olives and bell pepper. I always order anchovies with it. Not too many places offer anchovies like Pizza Hut for example. The crust i guess would be thin crust but it's not super thin like Pizza Hut where it gets burnt. It's actually a good crust where you can taste all the toppings. Mai is a really friendly, happy and helpful waitress. She remembers what our usual is and is quick to refill our water glass. My only wish would be is to have beer served here. I like pizza paired with beer. Oh by the way, it is BYOB.I just never get around to pickling up a six pack. read more

I've had my eye on La Pizza Rina for a while, but the situation didn't come up for a visit until my Auntie Sue agreed to go with me... she's game for anything - except All You Can Eat because she's a petite person. Metered street parking after 6pm or so is free and we found a space right in front of the restaurant! We walked into a cozy, comfy place... It had an old school vibe. This was my first time to this spot..... I have mixed reviews on the experience. Plus: We went with a group of 8 people, and they take reservations which was a very good thing. The spot is very small and a bit cramped, and we may have had to wait a while to get a table otherwise. The waitress was helpful and attentive but wish she was a bit more friendly and welcoming. I enjoyed the pizza because the bottom of the crust was very crunchy and the top a soft doughy texture, but the taste was not very flavorful. The salad was decent, but a bit on the pricey side for the quality. The subs were light on the meat and heavy on the veggies, and the taste mild (wasn't dressed with any sauce and only mayo and mustard were provided in packets). I do appreciate that the spot is byob. Overall, the spot and the food are very homely and chill. However, I would have enjoyed the food more if there were more Italian flavors and spices added. Tip: recommend making reservations for parties bigger than 4 people. If byob, bring your own cups for wine or non-single serve bottle liquor. Parking is located behind the building but can be limited because it shares the lot with multiple other businesses. read more

Heading back to town from Kaneohe, I was getting hungry. I just wanted something simple and easy, with easy parking because that can be such a drag. Let me go to one of my favorites! There were three families inside when I walked in. I grabbed a table by the kitchen. Prices sure have increased since I first came here. But I was craving spaghetti and meatballs. I was looking forward to curry next door but failed to notice they're closed on Tuesdays so I had to pivot for La Pizza Rina. The lovely family that runs this place is kind, down to earth and quick to service. They may have been rushing me that afternoon since I noticed they closed at 2 or 3pm to prep for dinner. Salad and pizza came out ok. Both were edible and pizza was a bit undercooked but still doable. I ate as fast as I could to be respectful of time. The place is dainty and dark. Great place to cool down from the heat. After walking almost 2 miles from Ala Moana I probably should've stayed there to get something to eat. Lesson learned. However, if you're in a pinch this place will nudge the spot and give you energy for the rest of the day. read more

We came here as a thank you for helping a really good friend and mentor and although we all helped because we wanted to and not to get anything from doing so, it was his way of personally thanking us and we are glad we went for him and to associate with the other friends as the food was really good. Parking can be found right in front the restaurant on King St or in the back of the building there is a parking lot for the building which is free. We had reservations for around 20 of us and there was still room for other tables so the place is pretty spacious however, it can get pretty loud when the place is full of people. We simply love the food here. It's a hole in the wall kind of place with big flavors. Homemade vinaigrette dressing for their salads which tastes really good. Personally I prefer their antipasto salad over their Italian salad just because I like the meat in the antipasto salad. Their pasta dishes are so good. You have to love pasta that is cooked perfectly and their sauces from the spaghetti and meatballs to their Mushroom Ravioli is very tasty. Not a big fan of the Garlic Cheese Bread but rather have their garlic bread with some butter on the side to add to the artery clogging and diabetes in my life. Just recently I had the chance to have a meatball & cheese sandwhich and it was yummy. The bread was nicely toasted and the meatballs was nicely seasoned and not too big and not too small but just right so I didn't have to unhinge my jaw to eat it. Another reason to love this place besides their awesome service and food is that it is BYOB! Yes bring your favorite bottle of wine, beer or other adult beverages. We (the four of us) had the supreme pizza and the antipasto salad. We all agreed that it was the best pizza we have had in years. Probably the best on the island. The salad was excellent, as well. Got the la pizza rina combo pizza, pastrami submarine sandwich, and garlic cheesy bread. The pizza definitely tastes fresh and savory. It's different from fast food pizzas like pizza hut and papa John's as it has less of an oily and greasy feeling after eating it. The toppings of the pizza definitely stand out as u eat it and the bread and crust is a perfect combination of crispy and chewy. The pastrami sub is definitely worth a try. The vinegar sauce with the mayo adds immense flavor to the sandwich. The bread is nice and crispy and the inside of the sandwich is perfectly salted and balances well with the lettuce and tomato. I will say though that I was disappointed with their garlic bread. Did not taste the garlic. It literally tasted like average melted cheese on a whole lot of bread. Probs wont be getting that again but the other two I'll definitely be going back for seconds! Parking is in a lot in the back of the building with a 1 way in from king street and an exit on keamoku street. There's about 6-8 tables inside with a fridge of drinks that u can buy. I had my first Henry Weinhard's root beer and vanilla root beer at this place and have grown a liking to it ever since. It goes good with the pizza too ;) Service was soo friendly and thoughtful. I've been to La Pizza Rina multiple times now, and it's easily one of my go-to spots in Hawaii. Every visit has been solid, but on my most recent trip, I got the La Pizza Rina Super Sub Sandwich and also made a pizza! The super sub is so authentic...flavorful, super fresh, and honestly one of the best subs I've had. The price is more than fair for how much you get. Id say go for the sub (or better yet, do both and split!) Friendly staff, fast service, and a chill, atmosphere. Can't recommend this place enough. read more

I used to love this place when I would frequent it alot more years back. Located on king street right before first hawaiian bank on the right side. There is street parking as well as parking behind building. I havent been back till now. The inside of the restaurant is aircondituoned with wooden tables and chairs (comfortable) The staff is still mostly all chinese. Nothing has really changed all I know is their roast beef sandwhich I used to crave and love is not so anymore. Their footlong is really expensive (almost $18) It has alot less meat (even less than subway) and garlic sauce that put it over the top is gone!! They now have a tasteless italian sauce Meh!! So now for little less than $18 you get a tastless sparse sandwich (foodland farms for around $11.00 you get alot more sandwich). Anyways I dont think I will be back anytime soon. I don't know about their pizza I only used to go for their sandwiches I get my pizza fix elsewhere. So anyways as far value goes...price? Nope expensive!! Portions? nope not worth it!! Taste? We stop by very infrequently because 20 some years ago, this used to be a favorite place of my wife who used to come here while working near town. We always check to see business hours and all indicators was that they were open until 2:30pm. We get there at about 1:40pm and placed our order. Food came relatively quickly however at 2pm we get a warning from the waitress that they were closing soon. We were aware of the time and were halfway done but we did feel a bit rushed. At 2:10pm we're the last customers in there and the waitress shuts off the lights on us. We pay our bill and hurried to get out. The next day I was wondering if I misheard my wife the day before when she said they were open until 2:30pm and thought maybe I misheard her and maybe they closed at 2pm. No I didn't misheard everywhere said they were open until 2:30. We been to places that were closing and we would get a nicer warning with a disclaimer like "don't worry, take your time" but the waitress wasn't mincing any words here. Nevertheless we tipped her but still, never been treated so rude where we felt as though we were kicked out. It's sad because my wife has good memories of this place but suffice to say we won't be going back again. read more

We were looking for dinner after the movies and decided on La Pizza Rina. We have been going here for a while and always love the service and food. When we got there is was super crowded, there were only 2 open tables. There is only one server and although she was busy, she greeted us with water and utensils. We ordered baked spaghetti and antipasto salad. The salad and garlic bread came out fast and was super fresh and delicious. Absolutely love the cheese and ham rolls sliced in the salad!! Our spaghettis came out steaming hot and cheesy - delicious! The restaurant is small and homey feeling and although it was crowded it was not as loud as I expected. There is lots of free parking in the lot behind the restaurant and it is well lit. By the time we left we were the last ones and everyone waved to us, including the kitchen staff. Kind of a let down. I last ate here 15 years ago and remember it being pretty decent. Got the large combo pizza tonight and the antipasto Salad tonight. Total with tax was $52. The combo pizza looks big but it's a bit lacking in toppings. It's not a heavy pizza. Leaving the restaurant with my takeout I remember thinking "I paid $52 for this?" The pizza was ok. But sadly I can make better pizza at home myself. Two of us ate all but two slices and the entire salad. We weren't stuffed. So it's not a lot of food for the $. The salad was ok. Nothing really that special. It was missing roasted veggies, high quality manoa lettuce or something that would have made it unique. Probably won't be back. read more

Firstly, it's been awhile since I've been to La Pizza Rina. Secondly, i vaguely recall their pizza, which I had once. Lastly, they provide vegetarian options ( only a few ) other than a cheese pizza. I dined in once several years ago - small dining area with around 10 tables - but have had takeout the last 3-4 times I have patronized this local small business. On our MLK holiday my wife and I decided to check out La Pizza Rina . This place was always on my radar but just haven't stop to check it out . Since today was a holiday I decided to go . I ordered their personal size combination pizza it's about 8inch and the dough (crust) wasn't cooked all the way it wasn't crispy a little soft and raw . It came with Green pepper, sweet onion, black olives, sausage, Pepperoni. My wife ordered their Pastrami and cheese sub 6 inch. She said before it came with a dipping sauce and more pastrami. Of course every place is cutting back I understand but you have to give more portions so customers will come back . Parking is very tricky in front of the restaurant there metered parking . I don't know what has happened to this restaurant in the last year but I picked up four of the worst subs sandwiches a food establishment could possibly charge a customer for. I will never darken their door again. The sandwiches were considerably smaller than previous orders, somewhat understandable given shrinkflation is everywhere these day. The bread was dense, like it wasn't risen properly, or the yeast was expired or their starter died...dense as in a hockey puck. Lack of meat and cheese added to the epic fail. The roll was toasted and that was the only port that even resembled what we loved on our previous visits. I believe in supporting local but I won't bother driving from Halawa ever again. read more

Craving some lasagna and though this would be the perfect place! Really not feeling the food court vibe thought this would be a nice place to chill and enjoy my plate, and a thing cute place right on South King Street in a two story building sharing with many other business parking can be a challenge with evening rush hour is not available until then the parking in the back is convenient it's not free. Before 5pm it's free after it's credit card only at $1 for each hour and not really thrilled about that. Feeling rushed with the parking situation it's a good thing I already know what I wanted which is Lasagna apparently all their pasta specials are served with meat sauce, meatballs or sausage...hmm okay just meat sauce for me. I was then asked about adding a salad to my meal and why not it's an additional $6.50 and it was a good size though considering the same small appetizer salad is $7 this doesn't seem like a deal to me. Their salad had lettuce, celery, carrots, black olives, tomatoes, onions and cucumber all tossed in a yummy Italian vinaigrette though in general it was okay. They served garlic bread...not my favorite it was dry and lacked something which was so sad considering. Well here's my lasagna looking amazing all saucy and cheesy and yes it was good, would I have it again...no. It was good it just didn't wow me and I'm sorry because I really wanted to like it the portion size is good I think it was the sauce as it didn't bring it together. Staff is very sweet and delightful and I just love the ambiance of the place with the brick and some cheesy decor with lots of seating, maybe I'll just try the pizza for lunch next time.
