I walk past the Blaisdell farmers market every so often, and this pasta vendor always has a long line. I needed to see what the hype was about. I didn't know what his name was because he doesn't have any signage on his tent or vehicle. He works very slowly. Like I mean really slowly. He's physically moving quickly, but each individual pasta is very complex and takes a long time to make. I waited over an hour for three plates. The pasta was amazing and I'm glad I got to try it once, but would I wait an hour again? Probably not. It may have tasted better because I was so hungry from waiting so long. Chef Alfredo has no help though and is doing all the cooking. You write your order on a piece of paper and hand it to him. You also place your money into a box (honor system I guess). But that also means no change. My cousin got the carbonara ($20), and my sister and I shared the salsiccia ($22) and capellini al ortolana ($22). Everything was really good and made fresh. Each pasta had a lot of flavor. It came with a side of bread that tasted homemade. The portions were also extremely generous and probably could have lasted me at least 2-3 meals. Overall the food was good at a rather high price point. I'd come back again if I was super hungry and there was no line.

This guy runs the whole operation all by himself, cooking sometimes 9 orders at once. Not only is he a sight to see, he's good too. The noodles are chewy, and the flavors are good. The orders are BIG. Two of us split a carbonara and ate every last bit, soaking up all the sauce with the bread.

    Very bland carbonora

I ordered the Carbonara pasta after seeing a lot of hype about the Pasta Guy on social media, but unfortunately, it didn't live up to my expectations. I watched as the chef started cooking the carbonora sauce in a skillet and he saw another order of carbonora so he added more boiled noodles to the same pan to prepare multiple orders at once--without adding more sauce or ingredients. The result was disappointing. I hate to admit it but Olive Garden was better. As you can see from the picture, the pasta lacked flavor and looked hastily prepared. To make matters worse, the dish used regular boxed noodles from the grocery store, which felt overpriced given the quality. Overall, it wasn't worth the price or the hype

Alfredo's menu. The top 3 entrees stay the same, but he will periodically change up the bottom three family recipes.

Alfredo single-handedly serves the best pasta on Oahu. My husband and I first met him two days after we moved to the island when we visited the KCC Farmers' Market. We stopped in our tracks because a) the food smelled so good and b) there were so many people crowding around him and taking videos. We quickly realized that it was because he was serving beautiful and delicious-looking food, and he was doing it all totally by himself. He was taking orders, doing prep, cooking, and serving. Next time you go to a farmers' market, look around--each booth with cooking involved likely has at least two or three people manning it. What Alfredo does is exceedingly difficult and special; it's a spectacle enough to consistently draw a crowd. After our first bite of his pasta, (we ordered the salsiccie) we were hooked. Having just moved to Oahu, we were not expecting to find a great place for pasta right off the bat. But Alfredo's pasta literally took my husband and I back to Italy. In 2022 we spent almost 3 weeks in Italy and enjoyed pasta from all different regions of the country, and we hadn't had anything comparable on the mainland since until we had Alfredo's. I couldn't believe it. Even the bread is so good. After becoming a little too obsessed, we've been going to Alfredo's consistently ever since--even after trying so many new restaurants in the four months we've lived here so far. Even when my husband and I took my parents to Alfredo's booth when they were visiting for two weeks, we ended up going twice more during their trip at their request. After they left, my dad has since been trying to recreate Alfredo's Putanesca and is regularly updating me on his attempts. Every time we visited Alfredo, it became more and more apparent how hard of a worker he is. His true priority is the customer and the experience they have enjoying his food. He has said before that he will only make a dish if he can make it the right way. He puts so much attention to detail into his work and never misses a beat, even though he is literally cooking nonstop for hours. He brings his supplies, sets up his tent and kitchen, cooks delicious food for at least three hours straight, cleans up, and takes down his setup, all by himself, with no help. If cooking at home is a lot of work, I can't even imagine doing what he does, and certainly not at the same caliber. I have seen customers be rude to him, I have seen people place multiple orders only to not return to pick them up or pay after he spent time cooking and preparing them, I have seen marketgoers take his utensils and napkins even when they haven't ordered food from him, and yet he still does it all with the patience of a saint. If you get pasta from Alfredo, not only are you getting the best and most freshly-made pasta on the island, you get to enjoy watching him make it right in front of you, and you get to support a local business that is so deserving. This business is truly an integral part of my husband and I's farmers' market experiences here on the island, and there's absolutely nothing better to us than sitting on a bench and watching people enjoy the market while eating the best pasta around! His hours: HFBF Honolulu Farmers' Market (Blaisdell): Wed 4-7 PM Kailua Farmers' Market: Thurs 4-7 PM KCC Farmers' Market: Sat 7:30-11 AM When you're ordering with Alfredo, here's what to do: 1) Write your name at the top of the paper on the front table using the marker he provides, along what dishes you would like to order and the quantity of each dish. If he is cooking, wait for him to take your paper. He will tell you the wait is about 20 minutes. Please be sure to speak loudly, as he is hard of hearing. 2) Walk around and enjoy the market, or hang around and watch him cook! 3) Wait until your name is called. Once he calls your name, you can place the exact cash for your order and tip in the black cash box provided on the left before collecting your food. Cash only! Utensils and napkins are available nearby as well. If you're visiting Oahu, don't miss out! Give Alfredo a visit!

Best (authentic) Italian food on island, period. Linguine noodles made by hand, aromatic sauces made from scratch before your eyes, and ingredients primarily source from Italy (from what I've seen). And the portion sizes are massive. One order from Chef Alfredo on Wednesday evenings also provides lunch on Thursday and Friday (if I can restrain myself from gorging). All served by an incredibly down to earth, generous Italian chef who could be working at a fine dining restaurant. But instead he chooses to serve us hungry folks once a week at the Blaisdell market.

    Pasta con gamberetti al pomodoro

This man makes amazing pasta. We tried the carbonara and the pasta con gamberetti al pomodoro and both were delicious. I've been to many Italian restaurants high end and mom and pop shops, and this man's pasta is now my favorite. ** It has such good bite, perfectly al dente, and the sauces were not too heavy, absolutely lovely** One plate can feed a family of 4 with the pasta portion including all the shrimp, tomatoes, whole roasted garlic cloves and the ciabatta roll on the side. For all that seafood, fresh pasta, and homemade sauce it's worth the wait and it was only $25. The service was fairly quick compared to how long I've heard it's taken my friends, but it is only this one man by himself. So honestly, mad respect to him. Next time I'm at the market I'll be getting more pasta from him for sure.

I went to the farmers market with some other food items in mind for dinner but then passed by the Pasta Guy! There was a crowd of people watching him prepare his pasta. He boils, sautés/pan and prepares everything there. The wait can be long because he only makes about 8-9 plates at a time but well worth it I learned he is hearing impaired so it's not that he is ignoring you, he can't hear well. My tips for ordering for a smooth experience 1) fill out the piece of paper w the item menu you want and how many. Put your name on the paper, very important if you want your order in the order you ordered it, otherwise it can get chaotic as to whose order it is. 2) being exact cash. You pay in a box when your order is ready. Pasta guy has gloves on and doesn't stop to give change so make sure you have cash and change on you. It's honor system and you just drop your money in the box when your order is ready. 3) order before 5 pm before the max rush! My wait was only 25 min ordering before 5 pm but right after I ordered, a lot of people came and I anticipate those folks having to wait well over an hour. My pasta was so good, I don't think I've ever had a freshly made pasta before other than udon at Japanese places. Fresh pasta is amazing! The cream sauce was yummy and the mushrooms and fried pork belly was so ono!!! Every dish comes with two slices of bread. It's a large portion, I couldn't eat all of it! I can't wait to try other pasta dishes.

We have been coming to Chef Alfredo for YEARS. His pasta is worth the drive coming from the west side. We always order the carbonara and it's such a pleasure watching him make all the dishes from scratch. Every time we go to Kailua farmers market, he's our first stop as a lot of people are patiently waiting in line for his pasta. He does everything himself and it's definitely worth the wait. Trust!!

I actually wanted to love this place so have tried it 4 times in 2 months. I know it's a one man show but 1.5 hours wait?! I get that things can get backed up but unless you stand there to make sure your order is placed in the queue you can get screwed! This happened my last and final try at this place. It's windy and the receipts are getting blown around and I'm patiently waiting outside and beyond Alfredo view when he's preparing i spot my order coming up in his last 6 order queue (1 hr wait). But when he's done, my order as blown down and he gives my order to someone else. Now i ask...what's up? He finds the order underneath the boxes on the table and says he'll make it up quickly...I think he takes his time as it's another 30 minutes!!! Now the pasta is good and a good portion but only pasta with 2slices of bread. Have had their porcini, gamba, Italian sausage and carbaneria. Good fresh flavors but worth the wait? NO!!! I've tried coming early at 4pm, coming later after 5pm but no go. Quickest was 30 minutes so sorry but will be passing this little gem at the farmers market.

    Chef's special tonight Puttanesca :)

Bonafide pastaholic happy place is what Chef Alfredo has created every Wednesday evening at the Honolulu Farmers Market. Tonight I had to try his special Puttanesca (Yum!) It's fresh made fettuccine pasta tossed in tomato sauce with capers, olives, anchovies and garlic. I loved the sauce so flavorful but not too rich with the olives and capers add that kick of flavor in each bite and sweet bits of onions is just bliss!! Always a generous yummy portion for the price this delightful pasta guy and his pup Donato is a delightful pair you should visit his one man show preparing it all is just spectacular!! Thank you Chef Alfredo!!

Another photo of Pasta Guy so you can spot his tent. This was before covid, which is why he doesn't have a mask on.

To do so you must make reservations and it's online by e-mail only and it was a process for me as it's their primary way of communication along with presetting your order as well especially for braised items that requires 48hrs in advance notice. We didn't select those items but have decided to preorder our starters which is their Insalata di Casa which is a lovely simple salad with Italian vinaigrette and some fresh tomatoes and Bruchetta which is also another simple item but until you've tried them it was very crafted and delicious that was wonderful start to our meal. The desert Carrot Cake was a huge disappointment. Maybe its just not for me? We left a good half of it behind... The service was very good. Maybe not the most attentive but when it came around it was great and friendly, and very professional. I would go again if someone wanted to go, but I don't think ill return on my own accord

There's a few tables inside and more seating outside. I got the calzone with pepperoni and the blackened ahi Caesar salad. The calzones here are definitely a must! I love the different cheeses they use as they complement each other really well. The calzone was crispy and not super doughy which I liked. I would probably pass on the Caesar salad next time though. The dressing was watery and the fish was dry. The service here was exceptional. My friend brought her dog, and the workers brought out a water bowl and kept checking up on us. Overall, pretty decent spot for dinner and the ambiance is nice. I would come back just for their calzone.

We dined on a Friday night, so many of the other restaurants were busy and loud. This was exactly what we were looking for after a busy work week. The food quality is very good. Our food was tasty, timely, and hot. Our server correctly recommended the vodka sauce chicken pasta and the grandma pizza, which were both amazing. Although the pizza was a bit pricey, $31, it can easily feed a family due to its large size. For the pasta, the noodles were cooked to a perfect Al dente and the sauce was out of this world. The grandma pizza, similar to Boston's spinach and garlic pizza, was AMAZING! Easily tops Boston's version because of the Alfredo sauce that they use as the base. The service was impeccable, efficient, and friendly. The staff were very polite and attentive throughout our visit. If you're looking for a better alternative for exceptional Italian cuisine in Hawaii Kai, Repetti's is your place. Removed from the hustle and bustle, and always welcoming and good.

Whoa! Amazing date night here on a Friday night!!!…read more Very romantic and intimate restaurant with outstanding service. Chisum was our server and he was just excellent. All of the server staff was super attentive. My husband and I both chose the prix fixe menu. It's $125. Every dish was excellent!! You have to get the squid ink pasta, truffle pasta and the lamb chops. My filet was also cooked perfectly. I can't wait to come back and try the rest of their menu.

The restaurant validates parking, $8 for 4 hours, tip not included. For my son's 18th birthday he wanted to eat pasta. After looking at many Yelp reviews, we ended up making reservations at Taormina. Unfamiliar with the menu we decided to do the five tasting course. As of 4/22/26 the base price is $125 and depending on what you choose, there are some add ons. For example the carbonara was +$25 and the Ricci di mare was +$18. Food: the Focaccia bread was free and comes with free refills. The salmon with caviar was really good. It had the perfect balance but very small, about 1.5". The next dish was the baked abalone. That was also very delicious but two bites and it's over. At this point, we were starting to think we would leave hungry. The next dish was the pasta. We tried both the carbonara and the Ricci di mare. Both were very good. The carbonara came with freshly slices truffles and thick crispy pieces of bacon. Highly recommend for truffle lovers. I'm not a huge uni fan but surprisingly the Ricci di mare was also really good. Of note, the pasta in the five course tasting is half the size of the regular order. Even at half the size, I felt the serving portion was good. I felt satisfied but not full. The next dish was the main course so filet mignon and monchong. The filet mignon was cooked perfectly but I personally didn't like the sweet sour balsamic vinegar taste that was drizzled over. I would have preferred it to be more savory. The monchong was okay but a little overcooked for my liking. The portion size of the main course was good. Lastly was our desert but to our surprise, they brought out a nicely written happy birthday platter with half a lava flow desert and a small scoop of ice cream. My son really enjoyed it. The creme caramel was also good and reminded me of flan. Service: the waitress did her job but I personally felt we had better service entering the restaurant and being seated. She had no smile, did not offer any recommendations, and no small talk which is fine but noticeable. Our bill came out to $463.87 tip not included. Though we really enjoyed the salmon and abolone I'm not sure it's worth the price and the extra three bites. Next time I would just stick with the pasta. If we had just ordered the full order of pasta our bill would've been $195.

My father and brother are both military veterans and enjoyed the fact that this venue was situated at a golf course they patronized before. We all ordered drinks--I ordered a bottle of wine, taking advantage of the Half-off Wine Wednesdays; some tried the alcohol specials and others simply elected to have soda. I ordered a few appetizers for the table and those went quickly: calamari, bruschetta, and artichoke dip. Yum! Main entrees followed and everyone seemed to enjoy their selections. We ordered dessert and were disappointed that they ran out of creme brulee...my father ordered the cheesecake and thoroughly enjoyed it. My only reason for not giving five stars has to do with the outdoor seating. I wish the chairs were more comfortable, as we sat there for awhile, waiting for our server to take our large group order along with waiting for food to come out. There is adequate parking and the restrooms are clean and accessible. An elevator is located in the lobby for those who are not able to easily climb the flight of stairs to the venue. I wish the signage was better, as my 74 year old father took the outside steps, as he thought that was the entrance, per signage downstairs.

Like she was welcoming family and friends to dine here. We got a seat on the outdoor lanai, honestly, such beautiful sunset views! Once seated, our server Erin really sealed the deal on this location. She truly reminded me of the best server I ever knew (my mom, a lifelong waitress, now enjoying retirement). Erin knew this was our first time here, and she made it her mission to make sure it was not our last. She was friendly, real down-to-earth, and efficient. She offered suggestions, refilled drinks and brought bread, all without us even asking. I will definitely return, and if Im able to, request Erin as our server. This was my hubby and mine first date night in years... so mahalo for the memorable meal, Erin!
