It was pretty good overall. We came here specifically for pasta, and this quaint little restaurant is located just a short distance from Waikiki. They also have a private parking lot, which is always a plus. Service was good, and they offer pizzas in addition to their pasta dishes. I ordered the Linguini Pink Scampi, which was quite tasty. The pasta was generously coated in a rich, creamy pink sauce, with several large shrimp nestled throughout. The dish was hearty and satisfying, although my only complaint was that the shrimp still had their tails attached, which made them a little inconvenient to eat. My spouse ordered the lasagna, which arrived covered in a generous layer of melted cheese and Parmesan. It looked rich and hearty, but he found it a bit too gooey, with what he felt was too much red sauce and cheese. The lasagna noodles were also overcooked, taking away from the overall texture. For dessert, I had the Affogato. The creamy vanilla gelato slowly melting beneath a shot of espresso made for a simple but enjoyable finish to the meal. The contrast between the rich coffee and sweet, cold gelato was quite nice. Overall, it was a good experience. Lately I've been dining on soups like pho and ramen, lamb curry stews, and snacking on real fruit smoothies, and I felt like I needed a change of pace. However, I didn't realize I had this burning desire until I saw the foodie pics here on Yelp. It was then that I seriously wondered how I could inject a little more variety into my foodie repertoire. I saw this restaurant listed on Yelp and immediately thought, Ooh, what about Italian??? :D Myself replied: Mmm, that sounds tantalizing, Jules Y.! :D After perusing the menu to make sure I wasn't gonna miss out on a thing, it only took a few seconds for me to hone in on the two items I ultimately ordered: * 16" Florentine pizza (gigante) * Gnocchi Gorgonzola with added mushrooms I added mushrooms to the gnocchi dish, which was a fantastic decision I would not want to go without on future dines of this dish. The pizza was a thin crust topped with luscious mozzarella, rough-chopped garlic, spinach, and ricotta cheese. The gnocchi contained chicken chunks, potato gnocchi, luscious cream sauce, and the mushrooms I added. The Florentine immediately caught my eye. I'm particular about not eating sausage, pepperoni, and other typical pizza meats, so this cheese-and-spinach combination was exactly what I was looking for. I expected something around a medium-sized pizza, but what arrived was this unexpectedly large pie sitting inside a huge, flat pizza box. It seemed enormous! The crust was thin with a nicely fire-charred edge, while the center was packed with luscious cheesy goodness. Random dollops of ricotta, spinach leaves, and these entirely unexpected little chunks of fresh, soft, juicy garlic created little flavor explosions throughout every bite. It made eating the pizza fun because each slice was a little different. Although I thought I was hungry enough to eat a lion, I naturally stopped after only a couple of slices. That turned out to be a bonus because I had delicious leftovers for lunches and dinners over the next couple of days. The Gnocchi Gorgonzola was a different experience altogether. Tender potato gnocchi were coated in a thick, luscious cream sauce with chunks of chicken scattered throughout. The mushrooms I added were thinly sliced and blended in perfectly with the gnocchi, chicken, and creamy sauce. My only criticism is that the dish was saltier than I would have preferred. I think using about half as much salt would have allowed the flavors of the gnocchi and sauce to shine through even more. Aside from that, every bite was pleasantly chewy, rich, creamy, and satisfying. The sauce was everywhere--and that is definitely a good thing. Yum! These two dishes complemented each other perfectly because they offered completely different flavors and textures. The rich, cheesy Florentine pizza paired wonderfully with the creamy Gnocchi Gorgonzola. If I eat here again, I'll probably order these exact same dishes. If you enjoy Italian food as much as I do, I suspect you'll enjoy Aroma Italia's menu. read more

My son and I stopped by Aroma Italia for lunch a couple of weeks ago, and we left so impressed! We decided to share an order of Alfredo pasta with chicken (well... I ate the chicken because my son refuses to eat protein ). The Alfredo sauce was absolutely delicious. It tasted homemade and fresh, like someone actually made it from scratch instead of opening a jar. It was creamy without being overly heavy and had such a rich, authentic flavor. What really made our visit stand out, though, was the service. I wish I could remember our cashier's/server's name because she deserves a shoutout. My son and I both have food allergies, so before ordering we needed to make sure everything was safe for us to eat. She was incredibly patient, knowledgeable, and happy to answer all of our questions. She also helped me figure out which pasta would be the best choice for my picky 7-year-old and even arranged for the grilled chicken to be served on the side instead of mixed into the pasta. That small accommodation made all the difference since my son wouldn't have touched it otherwise. The portion size was perfect for sharing between the two of us, and we both left happy (which is saying a lot when dining with a picky eater!). Between the fresh, flavorful food and the exceptional customer service, this was a wonderful experience. It's always refreshing to find a place that not only serves great food but also takes the time to make families with dietary restrictions feel comfortable and cared for. Only $24 for spaghetti and tiramisu? What a value! We were served pepper flakes and Parmesan shakers on the side to garnish our plate with however much we desired which was appreciated. Service was fast and friendly with a smile. I almost got the meatball appetizer which would've been 10 meatballs and garlic bread for $16 but when I saw the deal where you get a tiramisu with it, I couldn't pass it up! The pasta came with 5 anyways and I ate 4 before I got full. Being out and about in Honolulu is a hit or miss with finding restrooms so thankfully they had one. Located on Monsarrat Ave, with other businesses, they have a small shared parking lot or you can try finding street parking. We ordered the Clams & Mussels dish which came with 4 slices of garlic French bread, which was very delicious and tasty and the tomatoes sauce did not over power the dish. We also ordered 2 different types of pizza the large and both was also very good and the toppings was fresh and the sauce and crispy crust was delicious. Only drawback is the service is very slow and we had to go and ask for water, utensils to serve the clams ' mussels and go up to ask for the bill and take out box, it is a small restaurant and you would think it is noticeable if a customer needed something or is finished with there meal. Inside she goes to a different table while they are eating and try to remove the husband plate while he went to the restroom, and the wife had to stop her to say I don't think he is done! While we are on the next table finished with napkins on our plates and she walks by instead of stopping by and picking up our dishes. The restroom is clean one for men and women, lock doesn't work so you need to slide the lock bar on the top to closed the restroom door. Lovely restaurant in Diamond head that has Italian food. We got the pizza, meatballs, and gnocchi to share. Our waiter recommended the meatballs as they are the most popular and I enjoyed them with the garlic bread. I really like the pizza la bomba with all the toppings but I do with the crust was a bit more crispy as it's hard to hold. I loved the gnocchi as well, it was really rich and flavorful. We also had to get their special dessert of the day which was strawberry bread pudding. So good!! I would definitely come back! We like to order food delivery from here because it can be quite painful to find parking in the area. I have found their pasta dishes to be quite good, even the veggie pasta primavera which can be sometimes bland. They add a lot of veggies so you feel full from eating it. This is a small place that appears to be a spot for the locals. It is clean and staff are friendly . We ordered a pepperoni pizza and the orchiette pasta with meat balls, and garlic bread. The bread came first and it was slightly greasy and some burnt marks on the bottom of the bread. The portion was small. The pasta came barely warm and the ricotta swirls were ice cold. The meat balls were not homemade but tasty. Although the dish was cold, the marinara sauce was the star of the show. That was definitely homemade. The portion was a nice size. The pizza that my husband ordered was mediocre. He said the flavor was lacking. We were there around 6pm and it was busy. No one came by to see how the food was and they had initially delivered the garlic bread to another table. Service was a bit slow. However, I would say give this place a try. Even our picky eater children enjoyed everything we ordered, which says a lot! While there was nothing bad, for the prices, I didn't find anything special about any of the dishes and nothing stood out. I got the bruschetta, and asked for the arugula on the side. While it didn't taste bad, it just sat heavy and didn't feel fresh. In my opinion the dishes looked better than they tasted. Same with the meatballs and the linguini bomba with mushrooms. Aroma Italia first timer! Diamond Head is a bit out of the way for me, but it was well worth the drive out. I would recommend making a reservation in advance. My friends and I went to Aroma Italia on a Sunday night - we didn't have a reservation and the restaurant was pretty busy with two large groups. They were still able to squeeze us in by putting two outdoor tables together, and we were eventually able to move inside once the restaurant cleared out. Overall, my impression of this place was really good. The servers were friendly and attentive, and most importantly the food was impressive. My bf and I shared garlic bread, a large pizza and pasta. We had a few slices of leftover pizza because the portions are really generous (especially for the large size pizza). I couldn't choose whether I liked the pizza or pasta more, they were both equally good! Only criticism is the parking is always difficult on Monserrat. Hope to get lucky like we did in the small lot in front or street parking. read more

We politely asked for more salad dressing and they brought the completely wrong dressing not once but two times..the salad was sad- it needed not only more dressing but flavor.
