Chicken Breast Plate with Garlic Butter, Fries and Cole Slaw.
    Jeremy B.

I enjoyed a very reasonably priced dinner at this restaurant. I ordered the Chicken Breast Plate with Garlic Butter Sauce, Fries and Cole Slaw. A strawberry soda to drink. The food was fresh and tasty and hit the spot. You order at the front and pick up your food and seat yourself. The gentleman that took my order was friendly and very efficient. The vibe is relaxed and the restaurant is clean and laid out well. It was my first visit, but I would definitely return.

Kalbi plate perfectly cooked and flavored with fries n slaw - sister loved it

Today is double shrimp burrito day. Every bite so good. Same great service with a smile.

The girl at the front was friendly and there are probably around 20-25 seats available for dine in. There is a bathroom available for patrons, but you have to be lucky with parking sometimes. Food was good and the portions were adequate for the price. They have stars next to their popular dishes so that helps when you're undecided on what to eat. I would definitely come back to try other items.

We stopped by for dinner on a Friday night with my friends from out of town. The street parking was super easy after 7pm surprisingly even on a Friday. I ordered the ono with pesto mac nut sauce on top. The food was great! I would come back! Even though there were a lot of people coming in for takeout, we were the only ones eating there, so it felt nice and laid-back. Just know that dining in here is pretty much self-serve. You grab your own utensils, water, and pick up your food at the counter so it's very casual. Take out is also an option if you want to hang out with your dog!

SSG mix, kalbi, bbq chix, tuna mac, and fish taco

Went for fish tacos, but got the SSG mixed instead. Service 10/10. Fish Tacos always 10/10. Kalbi 8/10 good flavor little bit tough. BBQ chix 8/10. Tuna mac 7/10, something new to me, maybe I'm not used to it. Hapa rice, I prefer white rice but it's ok. Overall, I love this place. If there is an open stall out front I'll stop. Support local.

We went here for dinner after a long day travel. Not too busy at the time when we arrived but we have a hard time finding parking spots nearby and circled a few times. Finally got one to park. The cashier was very friendly and gave us time to check out what we wanted. My hubby ordered the tow taco plates and I got the boneless kal-bi steak burrito. The tacos came with rice, slaw, Mac salad, it was huge! The burrito itself is very big with steak, slaw and all. But they are both very tasty and we were very full after for sure! The place has aplenty for sitting and it is well decorated with surfing stuff.

Great tacos! I love their fish tacos and could probably eat them every week because of the coleslaw. Tacos are large and refreshing. 2 tacos are the perfect amount and may even be too much at times. Amazing food but takes pretty long to get a couple of tacos.

    Carrot cake, chocolate cake

First time coming here in a looooong time and it was awesome! Prices are a bit high but the food was made fresh to order and flavor was really good. We got the cajun shrimp plate (more like garlic shrimp, really garlicky and not too cajun but very delicious. Tuna mac salad didn't taste any tuna but was still decent, love the hapa rice), pastrami sandwich (family loved this, I'm not a huge pastrami fan), suicide aka poutine fries (no cheese curds, but shredded cheddar and gravy, this was just ok), and onion rings (good size portion for about $5). What really impressed me were the desserts. I really enjoyed the carrot cake (super moist, good flavor), chocolate cake (pretty good, bottom layer a bit dry but still good), peanut butter temptation (heard someone in line talk about it, peanut butter cookie with reese's inside, amazing). Chocolate chip cookie was just ok, mac nuts tasted a bit stale. Lots of seating in the back with ac, free water cups. Parking is a struggle, need to find street parking. Would def come back for the carrot cake, peanut butter cookie, and shrimp plate.

    Mixed plate. Huge portion.

A little walk, but worth every step. Family owned business with really large, quality portions and extremely reasonable prices. Their tacos are huge, and stuffed full. The tuna Mac salad, coleslaw, and rice that comes with each meal is delicious and enough for 2 people. I'm a big eater and a 2 taco plate is huge. Don't miss out on their Cajun fries either, super good. I'm ok paying the prices of Waikīkī if the food is good, but too often it's mediocre. South Shore grill is AMAZING!!! Take the walk up the hill, you won't be disappointed

    Cajun Sautéed Cajun Garlic Shrimp

My bf and I came a bit before noon so they weren't too busy yet but they had plenty of seating in the back area. I got their cajun shrimp plate and I think the coleslaw, mac salad and the shrimp (it was very garlicky) were very good. However, I think the rice was a bit too dry and hard. The worker who took our order was very nice and gave helpful suggestions to my bf who was deciding between the different sauce options. We parked on the street and walked over and didn't have too much trouble finding parking.

SSG Mix Plate, was amazing - a lot of food, personally could not finish the mac salad
    Nicholas D.

Food was amazing - especially for the price. The fish taco was my favorite part of this combo

Suicide Fries! A must have for me here.
    Christine G.

I used to live a few blocks from South Shore Grill and could walk here to get my fix! After moving a bit father away, that luxury sadly disappeared. Today hubby and I were craving it and so decided on SSG for lunch. Parking is street parking, which can be limited, but there are lots of places to park if you circle the block and don't mind a short walk. The food is fresh and cooked to order. Both the burritos and tacos are dressed with their crispy cole slaw and aioli. Large portion sizes abound here, and while we usually split a burrito and the fries, today our eyes were bigger than our stomachs and we ordered a two taco plate and a fish burrito. Service is simple you order at the small counter, and while there was a line today, it took no time to get through. The place looks tiny inside, but despite the crowd we were able to find a seat. They call your name at the window when your order is ready and then it's time to enjoy! My one must have here is the Suicide Fries. It's poutine style with gravy and melted cheese. The fries are crisp and holds up well to the toppings. It's oh so good! I tried it once with tots, I mean who doesn't love tots, but it wasn't sturdy enough for the toppings. So, I recommend sticking with the fries. Get ready for a sea of deliciousness.

Does the grilled chicken sandwich have garlic or onion? Can't eat either.?

Both. To go without either it get pretty plain. Would have to go all dry, and no slaw, no topping. Honestly would be just chicken, salt pepper, lettuce tomato. Sorry

Chat gpt recommended this place and I have to say the AI was right! The place is really fun. You can park downstairs and they valet Park you and they will stamp you for free parking. The atmosphere is a fun vibe. They had live music. It's a indoor outdoor place. One thing to note, they don't serve their lunch menu after 4:00 so we went there expecting burgers and they don't serve them. So we kind of stayed reluctantly. I ended up ordering the guava ribs and my wife got them too. Those had to be the best ribs I think I have ever had! They literally fall off the bone as you're trying to pick up the meat. One of the reasons we wanted to go here was we wanted the options of seafood but one of our adults doesn't like seafood and they said that they had all kinds of stuff, which they do. Our server Maka, was incredible. He brings us out a free appetizer and said that was from the chef. I don't know if it was the chef or him but I was impressed and it was good. It was some kind of little fried dumpling. It was awesome! One of the people in our party had thought he was not going to order something and I gave him one of my ribs and after he tasted it, suddenly he wanted some too. I grabbed Maka and asked him If he could get those ribs fast because the rest of us were already halfway through our meals. He got right on it and had that order in. The ribs came out just in time and everybody was happy. It ended up being one of the nicest meals that we had the whole week. We were here and it was a great way to end our vacation here in Hawaii.

All this to say, Tiki's is a must if you're walking down Waikiki! There's also FREE 3-hour parking downstairs when you visit. Tom told us of the daily happy hour from 2-5 and late night, and occasionally live music! Original visit (2021): We left the beach in search of a cool place to grab a bite and enjoy some beers! Tiki was the perfect spot! Our wait was short and our food came out quick! Our bartenders Marteen (sp?) and Kama not only provided excellent service, but were a pleasure to talk to! We had the Ahi Poke, the French Dip Sandwich and the Kalua Pig BBQ Sandwich. The BBQ sandwich came out on a taro bun and smothered in guava BBQ! It was our favorite! Forgot to snap a pic before devouring our food, but if you find yourself in the area it's a must stop!

The Caesar salad wasn't like anything I had ever tried before, and the fish paired with the mushroom rice and charred bok choy stole the show! Even the dessert was delectable. The restaurant is off the beaten path east of Waikiki with beautiful views of Diamond Head. The dining room and bar are upscale and lovely. Interesting local art fills the walls. We arrived without reservations and were promptly greeted and seated. Chris, our server, as super friendly and offered menu suggestions. He kept good tabs on us during our visit. I started with the Return of the Mac cocktail, at Chris' recommendation. The drink was a complex daiquiri with herbal flavors of lemongrass, jalapeño and basil oil. I liked that the drink was non sweet, but delicious. We started Happy Hour with the Hamachi Kama Tempura (yellow fin tuna). The massive piece of tuna is perfectly fried in a tempura batter and served with tender lettuce greens to make wraps. The fish was delicate and delicious and the batter is wonderfully crispy. This is at the top of my list of favorite dishes in Hawaii. The restaurant only makes a limited number each day, so you have to get there early to get one. We easily shared among three people. We also enjoyed a plate of the Blistered Shishito Peppers which was also delicious. The peppers come with a tofu dip that complements the slight heat of the peppers. We loved these peppers and would order again. My daughter and I shared a plate of the Steak Frites. The sirloin steak was perfectly cooked to a medium for us, tender and the peppercorn sauce was fabulous. The steak fries were good and the portion was generous. Finally, we tried the Tomato Salad (at Chris' recommendation) and we were blown away by the flavor. My son in law said, "why is this the best tomato that I've ever tasted?" And it was true. The tomato was bursting with flavor from the Li-Hung Mui vinaigrette. The creamy burrata was a great compliment to the tomatoes. We loved this salad and would order again. They have a kid's menu and my granddaughter ordered the Buttered Noodles, which were creamy and delicious. The food is wonderfully complex and the portions are generous. The prices are inline with the quality and deliciousness of the meal. I love Arden's and will be returning. Easily 5 stars.

The staff was super nice about it and was able to accommodate us, with only a small request that we be out by 8pm since there was another big party with a reservation coming in. Absolutely reasonable. They sat us right away at three large tables, which gave us plenty of space for food and didn't force us to sit super close together. Menus, waters, plates, napkins, and forks were all brought out immediately, and our waiter was quick to take our order. We started with the prix fixe menu for 8-10 guests and were going to add other items à la carte, but a handful of our group accidentally went to the other Side Street location (make sure your group is all on the same page), so what we ordered ended up being more than enough. We left stuffed and with 5 boxes of food still. Edamame was nice and steamy, and large enough to easily pop the beans out with your mouth. Wish there was a bit more salt though. The farmer's salad had everything going on from citrusy to salty to crispy. Avocado had a little bit of oxidation but the capers, dressing and potato curls provided plenty of reasons to overlook it. The fried rice came in a hefty portion, with sizable pieces of bacon and sausage. The chicken I didn't realize was boneless based on the shape of the deep fry, but it was nice to freely bite into it without worrying about hitting anything with my teeth. Probably a bit too much on fried bits but still good. Pork chops had a better meat to crisp ratio in my opinion, as well as juiciness. They even came with ketchup on the side, which I love as a pairing but don't see much of at restaurants. My favorite meat item was definitely the sizzling boneless kalbi. The presentation on the sizzling plate with a side of kimchi was spectacular, and the meat was full of flavor. We also ordered yakisoba, which wasn't part of the prix fixe. Tasted good but nothing past standard expectations. We let the waiter know we had a 30th birthday at the table, and they brought a couple scoops of vanilla ice cream with a candle, and did a decent job getting the whole room to participate in the singing. It could also be the type of crowd this place attracts, since it seemed that everyone was so friendly and approachable. Thanks to the quick and consistent service, we were out in a little over an hour with no complaints.
