    Pasta: chefs special or carbonara
    Gaylynn N.

We tried this place for the first time and it was very interesting. It's not a restaurant. They're actually operating out of the back of a chocolate shop. There's no parking so the only options are delivery or curbside pickup. However this is not traditional curbside pick up. We called when we arrived on Queen Street and were we told to come in and get our food. That's not what we were expecting. We tried the Chefs special and carbonara pasta. They both tasted okay, but honestly we never could tell which was which. They both tasted exactly the same. We liked the free tiramisu if you order $40 or more. Honestly the pasta feels like we could have made it at home.

Over the weekend I ordered takeout from Bambino's using their curbside pickup option. You order online and call when you are outside on Queen Street. Someone will quickly bring your food right outside to your car. Very convenient! For the food I had the Creamy Alla Vodka pasta with added chicken. The pasta was flavorful and satisfying, though without the chicken, it might have been a bit pasta-its-prime. A side of garlic bread or breadsticks would have really buttered me up and taken the meal to the next level. I also ordered the Prosciutto & Brie Panini with added sun-dried tomatoes. It had a nice balance of flavors, though it could have used a little extra dressing or sauce to really take it to the next level. Overall, Bambino's served up a good experience, and I'll definitely be back to explore more of their Italian offerings.

Bambino's is one of the best fresh pasta and sauce you can buy at farmers market in Honolulu, Hawaii. The staff here is super friendly and they usually sell out of their pasta and the sauce. Is it good? It is what it is. Fresh pasta and fresh sauce. Its not like crazy amazing but its just a good pasta to make at home. Better than some restaurants if you are just comparing the texture and the feel of the pasta noodles. But again, its nothing special but just a good fresh pasta and decent sauce from the farmers market. I will definitely buy some more of the pasta and sauce from the Bambino's.

what a fun find! i've always wanted to try bambinos and i finally made it over! the only downside is that they're only open from 3pm so they're best for dinner options if you're hungry. You simply order your items online through their website and note your pickup time and your car details for curbside pickup. Once there, you pull over to the front of their door and they'll bring it out to you (after you give them a call to let them know of course). I DM'd them prior to ask them which items they recommended, and they suggested the chefs pick, bolognese, and the vodka pasta. all of the pasta dishes were about $19 each as long as you don't add extra's to it. I thought overall it was very good! the bolognese pasta was a little mushy tho - but it had really good flavors for all the pastas. I also liked that it was light in taste so it didn't get tiring to eat.

They share space with a bunch of other stores located right across the street from Aloha Beer. I highly suggest ordering ahead, I used Clover when I did. I think the door is usually locked, there is a ring door bell to the left of the door so the chef will come out and get you your food or take your order. When he opened the door, it smelled so good and fresh in there. ordered the chef special which had multiple cheeses and bacon. It was good, you can tell the pasta was hand made. The other dish we got was a pesto, that too was really good and flavorful. Got the tiramisu, it was just okay. The lady fingers were a little hard and parts of it were slightly watery.

Beauty and grace, get this pasta in my face. A friendly and quick pick up spot located in the Lonohana Chocolate tasting shop. Ordered three pasta dishes to share between three of us and there was plenty to go around and some leftovers! Ordered the Bolognese, Creamy alla Vodka, and Pasta with Meatballs - all delicious!! The pasta itself was made and cooked perfectly and the flavors were exactly what you'd hope they'd be for these classic pasta dishes. Excited for my leftovers and looking forward to going back to try out some other items.

Went to Bambino's for the first time and was blown away with how tasty and flavorful the pasta was! We ordered the alla vodka which was our favorite, the arabiata, pesto and alfredo. All of which were cooked perfectly! We also tried their panini sandwich which was also made to perfection! Will definitely be going back!

Pasta is my absolute weakness -- I genuinely feel like I could eat it everyday if my wallet allowed it. While driving around Kakaako, I noticed a giant sign that said "BAMBINOS" and I'm like ??? So I googled it and it turned out to be a takeout pasta place! I bookmarked it and finally got a chance to try it out. Simple system: You order online, choose a pick-up or delivery time, and pau. When you pick-up, you call the number from your email confirmation and they'll come out with your order. The portions are a decent size; it's a good medium of satisfaction. I tried the Carbonara and the Creamy alla Vodka. The Carbonara was definitely on the lighter side that there wasn't as much flavor that I was used to but I wondered, "Is this what authentic Carbonara should be like?" so I didn't want to discriminate against it. I did enjoy it but I think I would go for the Creamy alla Vodka next time! It was also light but I'm a sucker for pink sauce. Toppings are additional but to save some money, you can easily cook up your own protein and veggies which is what we did; it made for a lot fuller meal

Most authentic pasta on island. Delicious, I've had it a few times. Also very good tiramisu. Met the owner and he's from Italy. That's the Italian food I like to have.

Brand new location. It's take out only. They share the space with a chocolate factory which despite living and working within a couple block, I had no idea was there. The owner, an Italian from Venice, was kind enough to show us the inside where the chocolate is made, and also his kitchen area. He just got in a brand new pasta machine. I asked when he will start using it and he said "maybe tomorrow". So this review is based off the dried pasta which was good, but its not the same as home made. When it comes to pasta I kind of base all reviews of La Cuccina, which is located a block away at Imperial Plaza. La Cuccina is the gold standard of pasta in Honolulu in my opinion. Its so difficult for any other restaurant to score high against it because despite having all homemade pasta, La Cuccina is actually really reasonable, with multiple dishes costing less than $20. We tried the 4-cheese and pesto sauces which cost $35 for both. The 4-cheese was really good. It was rich, creamy, and had a good taste. The pesto was good, but didn't quite have the super fresh basil/garlic taste I expected nor the vibrant green color that would indicate it was freshly made. It wasn't that much different than the Costco pesto sauce I buy. I also think it needed a bit more sauce on the actual pasta. What was missing is some kind of protein option, or a vegetable option. Some grilled chicken on the 4-cheese, and some sautéed vegetables on the pesto would have been really good. I happened to have smoked salmon and added it to the dishes. I will be excited to try again when they are doing fresh pasta. I thought it was a tad expensive using my La Cuccina comparison, and wonder how much the price would change if you were able to add protein. If the dishes are $17.50 now, you're starting to get into the low to mid $20 range perhaps. There is a similar place (not a full service restaurant) that does have fresh pasta, protein and vegetable options, and a place to sit down. That place is Mio's Pastalogy on McCully. $17.50 will get you fresh pasta, home made sauce, protein and vegetables. Its Japanese style Italian though but is pretty good. I myself will give Bambinos another try, and I really wish them the best. Because I want Italian options in this neighborhood. I know how hard it is to start a business so if the owner reads this please take this all as constructive suggestions and know I will be back to support you.

3rd time ordering here and every time it hits the spot! The dishes are quality and put together very nicely. Great for the price! I've gotten the 4 cheese, truffle & romana pasta dishes. I've also tried the chocolate mousse (life changer) & melon with prosciutto (my fav new duo).

The pasta was fresh, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Great ambiance and friendly service made it even better. Definitely coming back!

We both heard so many great reviews of their homemade pasta. We were greeted at the door by the friendly hostess and she said to have a seat anywhere. We sat at a table for 4. We loved the spaciousness. We really appreciated that they have such convenient portable bag rests that they place on the floor next to the table to hold your purse or packages. This was the first time I saw that in a restaurant and was immediately impressed. We put in our orders and we were served a spinach salad that came with our lunch order. We also looked at their dinner menu and ordered the Garlic Bread. I ordered the Carbonara and my friend ordered the Garlic Shrimp Tomato Cream. You can immediately taste the difference with fresh pasta; it's tender, slightly chewy, and perfectly holds onto the sauce. The carbonara sauce was silky and glossy, coating every strand without feeling heavy. The guanciale was flavorful, adding just the right amount of saltiness, and the Pecorino gave it that sharp, savory kick. The black pepper tied everything together beautifully. It was rich but balanced and comforting. You can tell care went into every step of the dish. I ate the entire plate. It was fun breaking the yolk into my pasta. My friend enjoyed her Garlic Shrimp Tomato Cream Tomato Pasta and she said it was so good. The homemade pasta was tender and fresh, and the sauce was creamy, garlicky, and perfectly balanced with a touch of tomato brightness. The shrimp were juicy and flavorful. She also ate the whole thing. The garlic bread was nice and warm and paired well with our pasta dishes. We really enjoyed the homemade pasta. The fresh pasta was tender, soft, and slightly chewy. Unlike dried pasta, it had a delicate bite and it absorbed our sauces beautifully. If you want to experience real homemade pasta with their flavorful sauces, Cucina Moon is the restaurant to experience. We will definitely be back. I will try the Squid Ink Pasta next.

We ordered our food to go, which was a little frustrating as all items weren't on the online menu. A few things, like bread and salad, I had to order at the host stand, which added to our wait time as the pasta dishes were ready. The staff was super helpful and welcoming however, offering water and seats while I waited. I tried the spaghetti bolognese and loved it; it was a garlic bomb with great flavor and noticeable portion of meat. The salad was delicious, fresh and bright and simple dressing. The garlic bread was soft and great for dipping. Overall, this is a fun place to come. You may have a better experience dining in; and must love garlic!

Although the pizza was a bit pricey, $31, it can easily feed a family due to its large size. For the pasta, the noodles were cooked to a perfect Al dente and the sauce was out of this world. The grandma pizza, similar to Boston's spinach and garlic pizza, was AMAZING! Easily tops Boston's version because of the Alfredo sauce that they use as the base. This spot is very small and cozy so you must wait outside to be called to your table which they set up for you before you're seated and parking is validated in the building though I did find street parking which is free as well after 6pm but the vibe here is very calm though many do come here as groups and it can get quite loud at moments though the staff did very well to course our starters and entree which is nice as the table is small and won't find much at the same time. I do appreciated the time it takes to prepare the reservations though must admit it was quite different to make it all work and see that it's all done in ways that you have very little wait for your table and your food as well and just loved how it's all crafted to make it a balance of harmony for us all. Thank you!

I remember it used to be a Genki Sushi restaurant a long time ago. I was pleasantly surprised how stunning the interior was! Bright, tall ceilings, large booth seating enough for 6 of us comfortably in front of large picture windows! Please check out pictures of waiting room, bar, and amazing second floor display of wines galore! Nice cozy area for intimate dining. Remember to see Toto bathroom! The service is implacable! Prompt and attentive especially allowing us to have separate checks! ( which not all restaurants let you)!! Now for the food: Make sure you check the Monthly Lunch Specials beside the extensive menu! 3 of us had the Clam & Bourguignon Butter Spaghetti: 5 small manila clams, white wine, clam stock, garlic, minimal cherry tomatoes, bourguinon butter, and a few sea asparagus tossed with handmade spaghetti! Very delicious and not too rich! It came with a side crunchy kale salad with a few thin slices of prosciutto. Portions are small and a bit pricey with no complimentary table bread to accompany the pasta. I definitely was still hungry for the $30 lunch! We were celebrating 2 birthdays with only 1 person ordering a dessert that came with a candle. The other birthday person received a lonely candle on a small dish!! It was cute and funny at first but now that I think about it, it was rude and tasteless!! Definitely will celebrate birthdays elsewhere! 3% service charge too!

Bocconcino is the perfect place to indulge in all the Italian delicacies I've missed, from meats and cheeses to pizza, sandwiches, beer, and wine. The pizza is spectacular, especially the Margherita. And I was surprised by the wine prices. I picked up a bottle of Pinot Grigio from Friuli for $15, and they provided glasses and a bucket of ice with no corkage fee. I can't wait to try more things here, especially the pizza al taglio, which has always been my favorite snack in Italy. The atmosphere is fun and casual. Seating is limited, but the communal tables make it easy to sit with others and maybe make a few new friends. Service is very friendly and professional. Ci tornerò presto!

My brother said the ordering process was ok in the shop but you have to go outside to wait for them to call your name. The Il Bolognese panini had a slight crunch to the crust. The bread was of good quality and the fillings were good though I couldn't really taste the pistachio which is my only complaint. The fungi pizza used the same bread as the panini and it was good also with clumps of melted cheese, sausage, and mushrooms. I would like to try their Neapolitan pizza next time but this was a filling slice. I can see why people have been raving about this place to get good Italian food and I'll be back, this time in person!

We ordered the Scallop Carpaccio, the Nairagi Crudo (striped marlin), the Spaghetti Arrabbiata, the Gnocchi Mapolonese, and the Char Siu Pork. It turned out to be a memorable evening. We can't wait to go back. Highly recommended! The scallops were good because brown butter makes everything good. But the salad was anti climactic. Our main dishes were good but never wowed- and it felt like the menu never gave you a true idea what you were ordering so its kind of a blind order. I did like my take on the Vietnamese noodles though. The drinks were strong but meh. I remember it being enjoyable but its not memorable or recommendable. The desert Carrot Cake was a huge disappointment. Maybe its just not for me? We left a good half of it behind... The service was very good. Maybe not the most attentive but when it came around it was great and friendly, and very professional. I would go again if someone wanted to go, but I don't think ill return on my own accord
