The texture of the crust and the various toppings, especially the ricotta paired well together. I also got the yogurt and honey gelato. It wasn't too sweet because of the yogurt, which I loved! The gelato was a good creamy and smooth texture. It's a small place with a couple of tables inside, but there's ample seating around Manoa Marketplace if the inside is full. There was also lots of parking on a Tuesday night. It does take them some time to bake the pizzas, but that's what makes the crust so good! Service was friendly and helpful.

We both decided to get pastas with the tiramisu. I got the lasagna and the hubby got the linguine meatballs. The pasta portions were huge. I also got a slice of the daily special pizza $7. The pizza consisted of sausage, tomatoes, mushrooms, spinach and ricotta. It was so delicious. The piece was so huge that they cut it into two pieces. They also warmed in up for me. The pastas were good, but the pizzas are most definitely the star. I love their pizza. It's thin crust, crispy on the edges and a little chewy. I'm usually not crazy over pizza, but I couldn't stop eating it. The tiramisu was also spectacular. The espresso, mascarpone cheese, cocoa powder and liquor were nicely balanced. The spongy ladyfingers and mascarpone just melted in my mouth. The best thing was that it wasn't overly sweet and just creamy. Two thumbs up for the tiramisu.

After looking over the menu options, we stood waiting for quite a while before anyone acknowledged us or took our order. The manager seemed rude and unwelcoming, which immediately set a negative tone for the visit. Looking back we should have trusted our first impression, but we decided to give it a chance and see what the hype was about. We each ordered a slice of pizza and took it outside to eat. After eating , we walked past the glass wall of the cafe and I noticed the manager handling and mixing flour with his bare hands, with the flour mixture covering his hands and forearms. I didn't expect to see food prep without disposable gloves and it made me uncomfortable. The pizza itself didn't make up for the experience. At around $22 per slice, I was expecting something exceptional or life-changing, instead, it was pretty underwhelming. The flavor, texture, and overall quality just didn't justify the premium price. Between the unfriendly service, concerns about food handling, and the disappointing pizza, I don't feel the experience was worth the cost of overpriced slices of pizza and I will not be returning nor will I recommend Little G Cafe to others. There are plenty of other pizza spots in Honolulu, including Boston's Pizza, that offer better value and a much more welcoming atmosphere.

They have some creative other slices like vodka sauce with pesto etc which are tasty but if you're a pizza purist and lover you can't go wrong with two cheese slices. There aren't much frills so you can have water or soda from their mini fridge. Almost like going to a corner pizza place in the city. Sandwiches available sometimes. We go early for lunch on Sundays and grab a seat outside. The proprietor was especially kind and friendly to my FIL and I appreciated that. Overall this is the second best NY style pizza place after black shamrock by a small margin - the Jersey pie at shamrock with its awesome sauce and perfect crust is hard to beat but don't think you can order it by the slice. So very very close.

No menu offered, no water. . .it was like we didn't exist. I looked up the menu online. Eventually, someone stopped to ask us if we had ordered. What threw me off was that the party sitting to the side of us was treated completely differently by the other bartender. They were greeted immediately when they sat down and automatically given water and asked repeatedly if they needed anything. My party was pretty much ignored once we placed our order. No water, no checking in. . .we went back to being invisible. I would have just assumed that was standard service except for the disparity in treatment. And it's not like I behaved badly or was rude to warrant this treatment, so I find myself perplexed at being ignored so comprehensively. First time experiencing something like this. Posting in case others have same experience and it wasn't a fluke.

Aroma Italia - Monserrat | Waikiki-Kapahulu-Diamond Head area - Island of Oahu…read more Onolicious! Lately I've been dining on soups like pho and ramen, lamb curry stews, and snacking on real fruit smoothies, and I felt like I needed a change of pace. However, I didn't realize I had this burning desire until I saw the foodie pics here on Yelp. It was then that I seriously wondered how I could inject a little more variety into my foodie repertoire. I saw this restaurant listed on Yelp and immediately thought, Ooh, what about Italian??? :D Myself replied: Mmm, that sounds tantalizing, Jules Y.! :D After perusing the menu to make sure I wasn't gonna miss out on a thing, it only took a few seconds for me to hone in on the two items I ultimately ordered: * 16" Florentine pizza (gigante) * Gnocchi Gorgonzola with added mushrooms I added mushrooms to the gnocchi dish, which was a fantastic decision I would not want to go without on future dines of this dish. The pizza was a thin crust topped with luscious mozzarella, rough-chopped garlic, spinach, and ricotta cheese. The gnocchi contained chicken chunks, potato gnocchi, luscious cream sauce, and the mushrooms I added. The Florentine immediately caught my eye. I'm particular about not eating sausage, pepperoni, and other typical pizza meats, so this cheese-and-spinach combination was exactly what I was looking for. I expected something around a medium-sized pizza, but what arrived was this unexpectedly large pie sitting inside a huge, flat pizza box. It seemed enormous! The crust was thin with a nicely fire-charred edge, while the center was packed with luscious cheesy goodness. Random dollops of ricotta, spinach leaves, and these entirely unexpected little chunks of fresh, soft, juicy garlic created little flavor explosions throughout every bite. It made eating the pizza fun because each slice was a little different. Although I thought I was hungry enough to eat a lion, I naturally stopped after only a couple of slices. That turned out to be a bonus because I had delicious leftovers for lunches and dinners over the next couple of days. The Gnocchi Gorgonzola was a different experience altogether. Tender potato gnocchi were coated in a thick, luscious cream sauce with chunks of chicken scattered throughout. The mushrooms I added were thinly sliced and blended in perfectly with the gnocchi, chicken, and creamy sauce. My only criticism is that the dish was saltier than I would have preferred. I think using about half as much salt would have allowed the flavors of the gnocchi and sauce to shine through even more. Aside from that, every bite was pleasantly chewy, rich, creamy, and satisfying. The sauce was everywhere--and that is definitely a good thing. Yum! These two dishes complemented each other perfectly because they offered completely different flavors and textures. The rich, cheesy Florentine pizza paired wonderfully with the creamy Gnocchi Gorgonzola. If I eat here again, I'll probably order these exact same dishes. If you enjoy Italian food as much as I do, I suspect you'll enjoy Aroma Italia's menu.

I think I would probably order it again but with the marinara sauce. The garlic bread with mozzarella cheese was good but I would order the regular garlic bread since it's less rich and would pair better with the entree. I think the garlic bread with mozzarella cheese would be great as an appetizer though. The ingredients on both the pasta and pizza were very generous. If I were to take friends out for Italian food I would bring them here.

I dine out far less frequently these days, and when I do I've become more of a take out, or low key hole in the wall, byob kinda girl. Maybe I got burnt out from my own work in restaurant, but food started to feel fussy and pretentious without purpose. A girl just wants to get fed. But then, there's Brickfire. Smack dab in the center of Kaimuki. Offering pizza that tastes and looks like it came from Italy. It hits the sweet spot of upscale casual, blending refinement and taste, with neighborhood comfort. I admit I may be biased, as I used to work nearby and saw this place come to life from the beginning, often seeing the owner and staff around. The owner, Matt, is passionate about his craft and just an overall great human. Because of this, his staff is also top-notch; every experience I've had there, the service has been just like the ambiance--polished and refined, yet comfortable and welcoming. I can devour a pizza by myself with no problem (no misses, each one a hit), share a bunch of apps, pizzas, and pasta with a group, or simply sit at the bar and drink a glass of wine or a cocktail or two. The bartenders here are also true craftsmen. It's my favorite Italian spot, a top 10 dine-in spot, and the perfect bar for a solo session when you feel like one. Nestled between all my other favorite spots in my favorite neighborhood, I love keeping it Kaimuki.

We started with a couple of cocktails that were beautifully crafted and well-balanced. The salad was fresh and crisp, and the meatballs were incredibly tender, served in a rich, flavorful tomato sauce alongside warm focaccia bread that was perfect for soaking up every last bit of sauce. The standout of the evening was the specialty pizza topped with creamy mozzarella, pancetta, and pea purée. The wood-fired crust had the perfect balance of crispy and chewy, and the flavors came together beautifully. The squeeze of lemon added a bright, unexpected touch that elevated the entire pizza. We also shared the mushroom rigatoni, which was rich, creamy, and packed with savory mushroom flavor. It was comforting without being overly heavy and paired perfectly with the rest of the meal. For dessert, we enjoyed ice cream topped with Nutella, olive oil, and sea salt. It may sound simple, but the combination was incredible. The creamy ice cream, rich chocolate-hazelnut spread, subtle saltiness, and fruity olive oil created the perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors. From the cocktails to dessert, every dish was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. Combined with friendly service and a welcoming atmosphere, Brick Fire Tavern continues to be one of our favorite spots. We'll definitely be back.
