Nice little pizza place about 1/3 mile from Waikiki. I picked up a small fresh spinach and garlic (#3) to go. It took 7 minutes (they were not busy). The pizza is good, but not spectacular. Cheese was good and the toppings were fresh, but the crust was just ok. Next time, I will try the French bread pizza. Little containers of crushed red pepper and Parmesan in the box were a nice surprise. Service was great. Location is convenient and it's much better than Domino's, a Little Caesars', etc. Will return. read more

Parking was a bit of a challenge since Kalakaua Avenue is a busy area. I did takeout since I wasn't able to find street parking. Inside, I was surprised to see such an extensive menu. I would like to return to this clean, pleasant, cozy eatery someday, and get a pasta dish! This time, I just ordered a Combination Pizza from the efficient, friendly cashier. I can't believe that it was my first time here. The food was absolutely delicious. I pass by all the time. We actually wanted to go to Machete next door, but they were closed, so we dined at Amina Pizzeria. We ordered the #16 cheese calzone $9.95 and #53 garlic bread with marinara sauce $6.95. They both were fantastic and both came with marinara sauce. It's the sauce that made all the difference. It wasn't too tart and I could taste all the seasonings. The garlic bread was garlicky and the calzone was loaded with gooey cheese. It was filling. The meat sauce lasagna caught my eye. I will have to definitely try that next time. read more

Amina pizzeria is one of my fave, go-to pasta places on the island. Love their spaghetti and meatballs, and their Alfredo pizza, so good. There's a little bit of seating indoors so I usually always do takeout. Their prices are really affordable, and the owner hasn't changed even after I first tried them over a decade ago, and they've been consistent on taste and quality! Just a little neighborhood pizza shop! I had always passed this spot and wondered. Boy did I miss out! I have gotten take out here about 4 times now and have been pleasantly surprised every time. Another experience that doesn't match the above average rating. Another experience where I was the one expectation out of 4-5 above average experiences. Though, some reviews are more generous than it should be, but that's fine. Here we are at Amina Pizzeria at the corner of Kalakaua Ave and Fern St--next to Machete's Mean Sandwiches and Moped Garage. There's a small parking lot in the back of the building along Fern St. It shares the lot with Pho Bistro 2 and other businesses. Inside is small--definitely hole in the wall size--with a few tables. But atleast is bright and clean. Besides pizza, this place offers calzones, spaghetti, French bread pizza, lasagna, baked penne, salads, and sandwiches. Pizzas come in three sizes, 10-, 12-, and 14-inch. I went with the Amina Combination Pizza (pepperoni, mushrooms, olives, Italian meatball, red onion, and bell peppers. I have to agree with the lower rated reviews regarding the dough and toppings. The dough/pizza crust really tasted like the frozen pizzas from the store. That was my immediate thought after the first bite. The crust was just thin, dense, and cardboard-like. The lack of sauce and taste was obvious. The toppings, albeit fresh, were too raw and undercooked for a pizza. Sure, I can taste the sweetness of the bell peppers and onions, but the crunchy texture didn't feel right. The oils from the pepperoni and meatball did not come out. Everything just ate bland and dry. Overall, it's disappointing the pizza is under seasoned, under cooked, and under sauced. I liked the fresh ingredients and the generous portions, but eating the cardboard-like, generic, frozen pizza crust killed the mood. These are really simple fixes. Use better pizza crust, lower the heat, so you can cook the vegetables and meats without burning the cheese, and USE MORE SAUCE and seasoning. Service was good. The lady was friendly and patient. The ingredients are there, and it wasn't awful. Just missed the marked on cooking time. Can't be bad twice right? I'd probably come back to try again. Maybe... We used to have an Amina Pizzeria in Kailua decades ago where Fat Boys is now. I used to come here for simple pasta, although they do have pizza and sandwiches too. Now they are on Kalākaua Ave and Fern Street. They have been here for years. The same lady works here which is probably one of owners. Most of the pasta are quick like the baked spaghetti with meat balls and even the spaghetti with meat sauce! Love coming here although sometimes finding parking during the busy lunch hours in their shared parking lot can be challenging with other businesses and Pho Bistro 2. The most recent times I was lucky or I just find parking before ordering from my car. Pasta was usually quick. What is so different here is the taste in their marinara sauce. You can smell the marinara sauce and it's taste good too! She said they make their own sauce! Believe me it's yummy! It was hard to describe and she said it's a sweet but tangy taste! I'm not sure if it's a one woman show either, but she was very pleasant and seemed really happy that I had such a large order. I spent about $60 and got the following: Amina calzone Sausage and bell pepper French bread pizza 10" Amina pizza Spaghetti and meatballs. Portions was huge, but I only really got a taste of the French bread pizza which was my favorite. I also got to try the calzone but it was a little too much cheese for my liking. My mom took the rest of the foods since it was her bday anyway. I definitely want to try other things again. I heard a lot of good things about this restaurant from co-workers. I've always driven past it but never stopped for a bite until recently. I wanted to eat some Italian food but wasn't sure what I wanted and remembered Amina's offered a selection of pizza, pastas, sandwiches and salads. They are located one block mauka of Kapiolani Boulevard at the corner of Kalakaua Avenue and Fern Street. Parking wasn't a problem as there is a lot on the back of the building or on the street. The restaurant itself is small with limited tables to dine in. After checking the menu, I decided on the lasagna. My order was ready in 10 minutes. The portion was just right. The ricotta and marinara sauce complimented the noodles and ground beef nicely. I also ordered a slice of cheesecake which was also good. I picked up some pizzas for my students from Amina. The lady who answered the phone to take my order was really friendly. She sounded so sweet on the phone. When I arrived, she was very nice and told me it would be a few more minutes. I'm not really sure where to park, but I parked in a lot. I think it may be street parking only. There are a few tables inside, but it's a little hot. I'd suggest ordering to go. The friendly lady even gave me a huge stack of napkins without me asking. There are 3 sizes of pizza to choose from. They also offer French bread pizzas, calzones and pasta! I'll have to come back and try some of the other things they offer. I got the combination pizza and a pepperoni pizza. I really wanted to like this place. The other reviews sounded great and it's really close to where we live, but the pizza was underwhelming and quite small for what was considered a large pizza. The crust seemed almost store bought. There was no rise to the crust, no crunch, and while it held up to the sauce and toppings it offered no taste and was much too chewy. As for the sauce, it was there, but again lacked any depth of flavor. While the toppings were quite generous, for some reason the sausage tasted gamey. The staff is lovely though and while I probably won't return next time I am in need of pizza, I guess if you can't find anywhere else to go, this will do. read more

We drive by this street all the time and never noticed this little pizza spot! We were kindly guided to a parking stall by the talkative security guard then walked in to get our phone order. The spinach and garlic calzone was a delicious slap of garlic and dough. Balanced with the milder flavor of ricotta and the fluffy dough in the calzone, they both held together the garlic bomb of a calzone. I'm pretty sure I still smelled like garlic 2 days later. It gets even better when you dip it in the meaty marinara sauce! The mushroom and pepperoni french bread pizza was okay, nothing special. It was a little dry on the sauce side but that could have been because of the wait time to eat after driving home.
