We had an outstanding birthday celebration for our party of six. They have two hours of complimentary parking. QR code for parking as soon as you enter restaurant and the host explains what you need to do. Our server even double checked if we parked in lot as we needed to register car. We ordered a little bit of everything. All was delicious but the fried calamari stood out for all which is served with hot honey. We will definitely be back again. We all left full happy and satisfied. Thank you Brick Fire you guys are doing a fabulous job! You have a great team there!
First time and they did NOT disappoint! We ordered a few different pizzas and took advantage of their lunch prefixe that they offered. Prefixe is choice of soup or salad, a selection of various pizzas, and an option to add on a dessert. I ordered the Caesar and Quattro formaggi. They warned me about the spice that comes along with the hot honey and it was very minor and absolutely delicious. The Caesar was huge, definitely shareable, and very refreshing. Two others in our party kept it simple with prefixe pepperoni which they demolished so I'm guessing it was good! My 13 year old son ordered the double pepp and almost ate his entire 12" pizza by himself. (He is not a big eater so this was impressive). We also enjoyed the prosciutto and burrata along with porcini rigatoni as sides which were also delicious. Just a very enjoyable meal. Staff was so pleasant, attentive and knowledgeable. I felt bad since open table allowed me to make a 2:00 res and they normally close at 2. They were still so kind and didn't rush us at all. Absolute best customer service. Can't wait to come back to try the rest of the menu. Since we already tried a lot of it I'm sure you won't be disappointed with whatever you order.
Brick Fire Tavern delivered another memorable dining experience from start to finish. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a relaxing dinner. We started with a couple of cocktails that were beautifully crafted and well-balanced. The salad was fresh and crisp, and the meatballs were incredibly tender, served in a rich, flavorful tomato sauce alongside warm focaccia bread that was perfect for soaking up every last bit of sauce. The standout of the evening was the specialty pizza topped with creamy mozzarella, pancetta, and pea purée. The wood-fired crust had the perfect balance of crispy and chewy, and the flavors came together beautifully. The squeeze of lemon added a bright, unexpected touch that elevated the entire pizza. We also shared the mushroom rigatoni, which was rich, creamy, and packed with savory mushroom flavor. It was comforting without being overly heavy and paired perfectly with the rest of the meal. For dessert, we enjoyed ice cream topped with Nutella, olive oil, and sea salt. It may sound simple, but the combination was incredible. The creamy ice cream, rich chocolate-hazelnut spread, subtle saltiness, and fruity olive oil created the perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors. From the cocktails to dessert, every dish was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. Combined with friendly service and a welcoming atmosphere, Brick Fire Tavern continues to be one of our favorite spots. We'll definitely be back.
Located in Kaimuki on Waialae, Brick Fire is a medium-ish sized restaurant. Pretty casual as we went during the day but seemed popular. We were seated inside, and it was a nice setting! We did not have reservations but most people seemed to have reservations. The service was quick and the people working were nice! We ordered pizza and spicy vodka pasta. We don't remember the name of the pizza, but it was very tasty. It felt more on the thin side and was not too saucy, but flavorful. The pasta was also yummy and we didn't think it was overly spicy. We ate everything quickly and were out of there in under an hour. Very efficient! We plan to be back sometime and try some of their other pizza, pasta, and more offerings.
Not the review I had hoped to write about this place. I brought my boyfriend here for his birthday, but we were sorely disappointed by our entire experience. I visited years ago and had a great meal, so I wonder if ownership or kitchen staff has changed, because the quality has noticeably dropped. Service-wise, our appetizer and pasta arrived in a timely manner. However, our pizza took a long time to come out. We noticed a table seated and ordered after us received their pizza first, which was confusing, though we figured they might have a specific order system in place. As for the food, almost every dish was wildly under-seasoned. I tend to use very little salt myself, but dish after dish was simply bland. We even overheard the table next to us--who ordered completely different menu items--complaining about the exact same issue. Beyond the lack of seasoning: Beets: Far too pungent from an overpowering vinegar taste. Pizza: A typical thin, floppy Neapolitan style, but the crust tasted like burnt ash. Pasta: A total bust with virtually no flavor. We regret not speaking up to management to give them a chance to fix it, but the experience was a letdown. While the restaurant has great ambiance, the lack of flavor means we likely won't be back. Rating: 2.5 / 5
In the month of April Brick Fire Tavern was promoting their garlic tide pizza for the Kona low victims. The pizza included shrimp, garlic, and spicy red peppers. We decided to get a supporting pizza as part of our lunch order for the office. The order was ready just at 12 the pick up time I asked for the day before. The pizzas were nice and hot with the salads fresh. I just wish they would toss the Caesar salad in the dressing because it is so thick it's hard to divy up as a group. The arugula fennel salad was nice but I could probably make it at home. I got a cannoli order which includes two. The cannolis were still nice and crunch when I brought them home 4 hours later. The flavor, banana chocolate peanut butter seemed like it would be too much but it actually was very nice. But I'm still holding out for a traditional flavors.
First time having dinner here as they were recommended by a friend of a friend. We decided to go around 3pm and we found front door parking! Lucky us! We had the fresh beets for an appetizer and it was good! We tried the Bolognese with neopolatin sauce and a Margherita Pizza and our drinks were Henry Weinhardt Roor Beer. All great! Our server was on point and very knowledgeable with the menu. Definitely recommending this place.
We sat at the bar and the bartender was super sweet and truly amazing at her job! I don't drink (allergic) but you can tell she not only loves her job but she is really really good at it! I did try a few sips of my boyfriend's Gondola drink which is their most popular drink, and it was delicious and so smooth! I really love citrus! We tried the Caesar salad first and i was really impressed how much flavor there was. Sooo good. Then my boyfriend and I shared the New Yorker pizza and spicy vodka pasta and loved both, especially the spicy vodka pasta! My dad got the meatballs and loved them, I thought they were pretty good too but by the time I tried them I was pretty full! The bar is beautiful and loved the ambiance, watching them make all the drinks and also the brick oven was within view it was all just really nice!
This place has become a staple pizza joint for me and my friends. The quality of their pizzas has been consistently great, and I enjoy them every time. My favorite is definitely the pepperoni pizza! I usually ask for less cheese due to my lactose intolerance, and they always accommodate me so graciously, which I really appreciate. The service here is also excellent--everyone on the staff is attentive. I honestly lost count of how many times they refilled my water glass. What was once a sleepy town, Kaimukī has become a vibrant yet family-friendly and charming neighborhood, and places like this are a big part of why.
I visited Brick Fire tavern for the first time today on St. Patrick's day and was so happy with the choice and disappointed in myself for not visiting earlier! We started the night by ordering the Caesar's Salad that I just couldn't seem to get enough of because of the bread crumble and the sensei cherry farm tomato. We also ordered the Prosciutto and Burrata and the Heirloom Tomato that was very unique. I wish there were more slices of bread that was served with the Heirloom Tomato because it was a hit for me with the tomato being the center of the dish complimented by the whipped, creamy chive ricotta. The service was nothing short of spectacular. We were treated with such class and attentiveness that I felt like we were the only people in the room. I hope to come back to Brick Fire tavern soon!
This is my favorite pizza place on island if I'm looking for some brick oven pizza and a nice cocktail (a very close second would be floralia). I always stick to the traditional Margherita pizza and if I'm feeling hungry, I'll add on the funghi. I haven't had any of the meat topped options since I'm usually dining with a vegetarian but I'm not complaining. The pizzas come out fast and deliciously consistent every time. I'd recommend making a reservation if you know you want to go but I've had excellent luck walking in during the earlier part of dinner time. The space is clean and open so you can see the pizza masters at work and the bartenders crafting their specials of the month. Parking can be a bit tricky with the small lot or street stalls fyi so give yourself some time if you made a reservation. Cheers
Parking: street parking around Kaimuki, they also have a small lot behind the restaurant Service: table service Ambiance: date night, intimate Food: went for Valentine's Day and would rec for a nice dinner. A stand out dish was the pate appetizer. Pastas and pizzas are solid with rotating specials.
One of the few places serving up true Neapolitan pizza in Oahu. And it slaps. Brick oven, classy space, that perfect chewy dough you crave. 10/10!

One of the best pizza I've had on Oahu. Tried a few items: Calamari Ceasar salad Fungi pizza Zucchini special pizza Bolognese Peanut butter chocolate canoli Pistachio cheese cake Food 5/5. No complaints about any of them. Surprised about how good the Bolognese is. Ceasar is pretty good as well. Service 5/5. Ambiance 5/5. Nice neighborhood spot with Italian flare. Yea we'll be back! read more
Really glad I discovered this pizza gem! They offer an impressive variety of pizzas and other dishes, and everything we ordered exceeded expectations. The calamari was outstanding--fried, yet remarkably tender and flavorful, with a delicious sauce that elevated it to another level. The pizza crust was another highlight: fluffy, soft, and exactly the style I enjoy. And don't skip dessert! Our server's recommendation (see photos) was spectacular. It was my first time trying it, and I'm officially hooked. Definitely save room for it! Parking tip: the restaurant offers two hours of parking behind the restaurant. I didn't know this and ended up circling the adjacent streets several times looking for a spot. Knowing this beforehand would have saved me considerable time. Overall, a very enjoyable experience with excellent food and attentive service. Definitely worth a visit, and I'll be back! read more

If you're expecting a classic, foldable, crispy-bottom pizza, this Neapolitan-style probably isn't for you. The Mama Mia pizza was tasty, but not especially memorable given the price point. If I were to return, it would be for the pastas. The bolognese was the standout. Perfectly al dente noodles and super saucy with a generous amount of meat. The mushroom rigatoni was also very tasty, though the portion felt too small for the cost. The pistachio cheesecake was lame. The pistachio flavor was barely noticeable and I expected it to be creamy and dense but this was airy. The whipped cream on the side was also grainy and slightly watery. For the price, I'd likely explore other options before coming back. read more

It was yesterday, Saturday, our first time here. We found them right across the street from The Local General Store in Kaimuki. It was a rainy morning, but that didn't deter us. We arrived just before their 11 am opening time. The woman inside opened the doors and showed us to our seats. There were more tables than we had envisioned. We ordered the European lager (Peroni), Orchard Salad, and the Prosciutto e Rucola pizza. The salad was interesting. Along with butter lettuce, it came with pear, gorgonzola, candied pecans, and honey balsamic. I liked the sweetness of the pecans. The pizza arrived as we were finishing our salad. We especially looked forward to trying their wood-fired pizza. The Prosciutto e Rucola came with mozzarella, Prosciutto di Parma, arugula, parmesan, and olive oil, to which I added extra mushrooms and cherry tomatoes. We accepted the server's offer to bring chili oil to the table. The pizza was pretty good, with a nice firm crust along the edges and the toppings over a soft center, covered with arugula. Ashley (sp?), our server, was very good and attentive. She even brought an extra spoon for my wife, in case she wanted to try the ice cream I ordered for dessert. read more
I just enjoyed a great dinner, treated by my daughter and SIL, as a belated birthday get together. I chose Brick Fire over Merriman's because I felt it would be more "family- style" dining, with my granddaughter in tow. The parking can be an issue, since the lot behind the bldg is relatively small (maybe 15 spaces) for the number of restaurants there, but fortunately, we found a metered spot right across the street. Traffic was terrible on Friday night, and we got there about 15 minutes late (we called to let them know). They had a high chair for my GD, which we made sure to reserve over the phone, and were seated right away. Our server greeted us promptly and gave us a highlight on the specials. We ordered some cocktails and then decided to get the Prosciutto and Burrata app, a couple of pizzas and a pasta entrée. The pizzas are 12" in size with a thin crust, but still can fill you up. The dough is made fresh and has a nice "chew" to it. The pasta is also fresh, procured from Onda Pasta, located next door. Everything tasted great, and they also provided me with a comp scoop of their brown sugar vanilla ice cream for my birthday, while we all also shared the Nutella calzone. Thank you to my daughter and SIL for a great dinner, and this is a definite must try spot. read more

Brick Fire Tavern has been around for a while but recently moved to a new home in Kaimuki. It's next to its sister business Onda Pasta; they share fresh homemade pizza dough and pasta. If you're dining in, Brick Fire Tavern is a cozy yet modern restaurant with open bar, brick pizza oven open for view, and many sizes and styles of tables from small high tops to large family style. In the back is an older style pizzeria room that takes me back to childhood. We decided to try it for pizza and salad and had a great experience. We came shortly after opening and had no wait getting a table; during meal times reservations are recommended. Our server was very friendly and attentive for the entire evening. All the other staff was welcoming with a smile, you can watch them prepare pies to order. We opted for the margarita but added anchovies and burrata cheese. The pizza itself is small and pricy, but it was so rich and delicious we were full regardless. The cheese made the ultra thing crust a little soggy that probably would have been a both if getting it to go. Honestly, the salad was the highlight - fresh pears, rich cheese, and sweet pecans. I could've eaten more of that and been happy. If you're a fan of Italian food, especially pizza, this is a great one to check out. read more
Having not come here for several years I've ventured back with friends hoping for a better outcome. And I was pleasantly surprised. We came on a Wednesday at 12 PM and miraculously found parking in front. We had amazing, attentive service, and the food was exceptional. We all chose the lunch special which came with a pizza and salad or soup. We all chose salad. The pizza is large cut into fours and I didn't think I would finish mine but I did. I did sacrifice one to a friend. lol. The pizza is thin and not super doughy which makes it easy to finish it all with the salad. With such a good experience, I am sure to visit again. The place was busy for lunch but not too busy. The restaurant is clean, bright, and full of positive vibes. read more
We were able to get squeezed into a 7:45 reservation. We were seated in the back in what appeared to be like someone's kitchen. Very warm and homey, just like the hospitality. A plate of freshly baked pizza dough was placed before us to snack on with a balsamic vinaigrette to dip. Wow. Amazing, chewing pizza dough crust. We browsed the menu and we immediately knew what we wanted. New Yorker. Chopped Salad. Pappardelle pasta. The pizza, was love at 1st bite. The sauce hit me first right in the taste buds. A smoothness unlike your typical pizza sauce. Not too overly acidic like there was a nice balance of flavors. Then the ingredients. The cheese, the pepperoni all melded together. I love NY style pizza but this pizza here at BFT takes pizza to another level like it makes me believe I love Italian pizza Period. Then the crust. I could gnaw on this crust all day...and I don't particularly like pizza crust.but this crust. Yes! I used it to wipe the plate of the pasta we devoured. The pasta was nice and al dente. Great texture of the oodles of noodles with the bolo sauce. The creaminess. The balance of flavors. Definitely a comfort food I would choose over and over again. I wished my stomach was bigger so I could order another one. Then the dessert. The pistachio cheesecake caught my attention with the oreo crust. But the cannoli. I recently ate a plate of them in Little Italy from the king but the cherry sauce drizzled and mini chocolate chips took my whole cannoli experience to new heights. The crust. What is it about the way this place makes crusts? They have it down to a science that I so appreciate. I love black forest cake and the flavors of this cannoli make me think of it. Yes, yes, yes! Loved my entire meal here. Why have we forgotten about this gem in HNL? Need to come back more often I can't believe I never sent this review below from...2021? Terrific pizza in Kaimuki! We had a tasty family dinner here last month when we were visiting my brother who lives nearby. He'd never heard of Brick Fire before our visit, but he became an immediate fan after he tasted their pizza. Brick Fire Tavern is the only pizzeria on Oahu with the Vera Pizza Napoletana (VPN) certification, meaning they make True Neopolitan Pizza. If you're not familiar with this type of pizza, they're cooked for just 90 seconds in a wood-burning oven (handmade in Naples!). Napoletana pizzas have a soft center with a chewy crust and are wonderful! Our party of five shared three pizzas between us: the OG Funghi, the Prosciutto e Rucola, and the New Yorker. All three were delicious and we left no crumbs. My favorite of the three was the Prosciutto e Rucola because I just love prosciutto di Parma on a pizza. The Napoletana pizza crust is so good, too, with a great chew. Service was terrific throughout our meal. This spot is on the smaller side and it was packed when we were there. Reservations are highly recommended; I actually don't know if they even take walk-ins. Mangia! read more

Had high hopes and this place looked promising with the brick oven on display, crowds and always a wait. I love Neapolitan pizza, but I ended up disappointed and would rather have their pasta, which was amazing by the way. The service was very friendly and attentive. The hostess and the server were both very warm. The place was quite spacious so even with the crowd, it didn't feel cramped. There's a room at the back with high tables that could fit another 5-6 parties. About the food, I think the ingredients were great but the execution was not there. Check out my picture. My pizza slice was so soggy that it just draped over like Niagara Falls, and I had to roll it up to eat it. It's kinda gross to eat pizza that didn't taste like pizza, or is this deconstructed pizza a new thing in town? They probably rolled the dough too thin or put too much oil/sauce on there? I don't make pizza so I don't know what exactly went wrong. I deliberately saved my pizza to take home hoping my air fryer would make the bottom crispy again. Couldn't make it work. On top of that, the charred part of the crust was so bitter, tasted like ash. I couldn't eat the whole slice. I got the mushroom but there's barely any garlic flavor. I had to add some minced garlic at home myself when I ate my leftovers. I still have 2 slices in the fridge. I'm debating whether I should even finish it. And you ask me, $30 after tax and tip for this? Hell no. I'm glad I got the pasta as well otherwise my whole meal would just be unpleasant. The pasta was bomb!!! I got the spicy vodka and the pasta was chewy and perfectly al dente. The sauce was delicious with an actual kick to it, unlike a lot of other Italian spots where "spicy" isn't a real thing. I found out their pasta could be purchased next door in a small shop, but too bad they closed when we're done dining. Next time I'll just get the pasta and sauce in the shop and not have to spend $29 on a plate of pasta with only a few pieces of sausage in it. Terrible value. Delicious pasta, fun atmosphere, great service, but for the price and the quality, (I can't get over with the super soggy pizza), I don't think I wanna come back. read more

I've been wanting to go here for a while just never got around to it for some years. Finally end up going for my birthday with my girlfriend and was underwhelmed. The ambience and service were great. The food wasn't worth the price though. A couple who ordered after us got their food before us. The water was almost room temperature barely cold at all. The couple who got their food before us actually complained to a server stuff they had was chewy, undercooked, and had no flavor. The Golden Beets were lacking flavor and strongly vinegar flavored. Our Porcini Rigatoni came next and wasn't hot at all and felt like it had been sitting for a while. It also had no flavor and the noodles were really chewy too. Finally, the pizza came out we got the New Yorker and same thing, no flavor and felt like it had been sitting for a while. We waited pretty long for our food so I was confused why it wasn't hot. Everything passed the eye test it all LOOKED good. The only good things being the ambience and service wouldn't be enough for me to come back. Especially for the price I couldn't do it, no way. Just all my opinion though. Maybe other items are better and honestly, envy the people who had good experiences. I was really looking forward to coming here. read more

I love this restaurant and continue to recommend it to everyone I know. The service provided here is always prompt, friendly, and the servers and knowledgeable about the menu. The food is incredible. Everything I have had here is flavorful and delicious. The portions are generous, the prices and reasonable. The ambiance is elevated but not pretentious. Their wine and cocktail list is diverse. The Chianti Classico is my personal favorite. I got the Sal's Bolognese Pappardelle which was flavorful and well balanced. I also got the Vesuvius Bee Sting which was cooked to perfection with the pizza crust soft and pillowy and the sauce, cheese, and toppings mixing perfectly. I will absolutely be back. read more

Went here for our 4yr Wedding anniversary dinner and it was AMAZING! Food was great, I had the soup of the day (minestrone) and bolognese pasta my husband got a pizza! Our server was kind and knowledgeable of the menu. Ambiance was 10/10 as well! Pretty affordable, all that food plus a beer and cocktail was $100. We will be back! Only shitty part was parking but they can't control that. Just make sure to get there 15-20 mins before to look for parking on the street! read more

I usually eat pizzas and pasta dishes here. I always come here with my parents, and we share everything so we all have a taste of each dish. Food: 5/5. I don't recall ever having bad food. Service: 5/5. Service is pretty good. No one irritated me. Ha! That's a great compliment from me because I'm usually easily irritated. Environment: 5/5. It's clean and spacious. Only once did a kid act up but I didn't docket the restaurant. I just blamed the parents. read more

Where do we park?
There's a small parking area behind the restaurant shared amongst several businesses. Otherwise, it's street parking.
I see "dogs allowed" is listed, but greyed out in the features section. Just to confirm, is this a dog-friendly establishment? Thank you in advance!
If there is happy hour what kind of specials?
Do you have outdoor dining?
No, but tables well spaced apart, and, of course, proof of COVID vaccine required.
Alcohol serves here ? Can we smoke cigars here?
Yes they do serve alcohol but you can’t smoke in any restaurant in hawaii
Who does delivery? We love the food, but aren't going out these days.
We were there just a few weeks ago, at the time no delivery option so we took the drive to Kaimuki to pickup (they are on Waialae between 9th/10th, before and across from Tamura's). The place was so nice and vibe really laid back, we went back to…
Anyone know if this place is open for business? Called and no answer and there online ordering is not available anymore.
I checked their IG and I think they may be temporarily closed because they were moving to a new location.
