I've been a longtime fan of the pizza at J. Dolan's. So long, that I remember when it used to be JJ Dolan's, but I had not visited the Kahala location until last month. I am happy to report the thin crust pizzas are still delicious as ever. We walked in on a Sunday afternoon and were seated right away. J. Dolan's is all you want in a pub - cozy atmosphere, friendly service, and good food and drinks. It's great for a casual lunch while you watch your favorite sports game. You can order pizza by the slice or by the whole pie. If you are not in the mood for pizza, other menu options offered are fish and chips, fries, onion rings, calamari, chicken wings, and salads. I didn't see a dessert menu, but we walked over to Kahala MKT next door to satisfy my sweet tooth. J. Dolan's is open daily from 11am and is available for group reservations and private parties. read more

My daughter wanted pizza for her 4th birthday and unfortunately our first choice is closed on Mondays. Decided to give this J Dolan's a shot as we had only ever been to the downtown location before. Parking in the lot is TIGHT. But we managed to snag a spot and head in. Once inside we were...well...not really greeted, but met with a hostess in what looked to be some sort of half assed clown make up. She didnt say hi just asked how many and if we wanted inside or outside. I asked my daughter and she said she wanted to sit outside. The hostess then sat us at the only table outside that was in direct, harsh, sunset sunlight (there is a total of about 6 or 7 tables in the outside section and only one other one had people at it when we arrived) and walked away. Not sure if she was having a bad day or what, but its pretty unacceptable to be a hostess and not greet people properly in my book. I mean, not greeting a little girl who's clearly celebrating her birthday (she was wearing an inflatable birthday headband thing)? come on. Not wanting to be confrontational as it was my daughter's birthday we ignored it and just played some musical chairs with the sun as the sun went down. It was then that we realized that as the hostess seated more families at the other tables near us she gave the other kids coloring sheets and crayons. None of this was ever offered to my kids...not sure why, but ok. Thankfully our waiter, i forget his name, but he had a pretty epic mustache was absolutely phenomenal. Not only was he super attentive (and patient with the kids) he made suggestions and told us what his go tos were. Ended up ordering a basket of fries, an order of calamari, a cheese pie and a Giocomo pie. All the food came out hot and fresh. The calamari was good, but a too little for the $17 price tag, imo. Pizza was really good, crust is a little too thin for my liking as it got pretty floppy as we ate. But it was better than i remembered J Dolan's pizza being which is a plus. Definitely not NY pizza as some have claimed here. After we finished eating out waiter offered that since they don't have dessert we could get a cake or pie for my daughter at foodland just a few stores down and bring it back to eat at the table, which we did. He even brought out extra paper plates and forks as well a comically oversized kitchen knife to cut the pie that my daughter had chosen. This would have easily been a 4 star experience had it not been for the hostess clown makeup lady being such a grump. read more

I've been a big fan of the original J Dolan's in Chinatown for many years. The classy and cozy bar has great pizza and fun drinks, perfect for a stop in before or after a show across the street. It was great to hear a few years ago, they'd be opening a second location at the new mall across from Kahala. It was on a recent night out I tried this place with a friend and really enjoyed it. They have plenty of dedicated parking right outside. The interior has high ceilings and lots of fun kitsch mostly related to beer and Ireland. They have a big bar with stools, mostly tables around the rest of the area, and a nice umbrella table outside. The host and server were both welcoming and friendly, always attentive to get what we needed. We ordered a make your own pizza with peppers, olives, and pepperoni, a fun combination. Pizzas are the same quality as in Chinatown, great for enjoying fresh and hot. They have a nice selection of beers, wines, and hard drinks from the bar. Stopped by J. Dolan's and had their pepperoni pizza, and it definitely hit the spot. The crust had that perfect balance--crispy on the outside but still chewy inside--and the pepperoni had great flavor with just the right amount of grease that makes a slice so good. I have been a fan since the days of JJ Dolans... despite shortening the name to J Dolans, they didnt shorten the quality of the staffs professionalism or the food quality . Admittedly, I do frequent the DT HNL location more, due to it being close to work, but the Kahala location is bigger, so if you have a group you can easily get away having Dolans play host to your gathering. I was here to watch the start of the NFL season opener, Cowboys vs. Eagles. They have two TVs behind the bar and one located on the opposite side of the bar. They have an open kitchen, so you can see that everything is clean. People ordered tons of take out pizza while we were there. It was my first time here and the food that we got was fantastic. We ordered fries (shoestring) $9, chicken wings $16, calamari $15 and a pizza. We got the half jersey white pie and half molto formaggio $23. The jersey white has shredded mozzarella, chopped garlic and New York style ricotta. The molto formaggio has six cheeses: havarti, brie, gouda, fontina, shredded mozzarella and parmesan. I also got a Coke $4. All the appetizers were good, but the calamari was my fave. The batter was crispy. The calamari was soft and tender, not hard to chew like some other places. I couldn't decide which side of the pizza I liked more. I liked the jersey white, because the ricotta was really pronounced. I liked the molto formaggio, because the brie stood out. One of our go to pizza places. We love the food and atmosphere at this J Dolan location. It is not too busy and we normally do not have to wait. There were only two of us so we are glad that they have frings (fries and onion rings) combo. We normally go with the shrimp scampi and giacomo pizza. I love their wings and great with a drink. I wasn't sure if this was the offspring of the J Dolan's in Chinatown. For some reason I thought the name of the place in Chinatown on Bethel Street was called JJ Dolan's. Oops, there goes my astigmatism again. Need stronger reading glasses. First off, the parking - did not like. Not the restaurant's fault though. I do know that parking lots and spaces in Hawaii are ATROCIOUS with ALL CAPS. SIMPLY HORRIBLE. Small, cramped spaces, limited stalls. Get lucky if someone is leaving, or else circle around and around like a buzzard or vulture. See someone leaving? Hurry! Put on your blinker!! Back up a few feet!! Hope the guy backing up doesn't smash into me! Hope I don't smash the car behind me! I don't dare back up into the stall, unless I want death threats, plus, I am not a backer-kind-of-person. I hate ppl who back up repeatedly while a chain of cars builds up due to incompetent car-handling skills. It's worse at work when you are running late and the person is backing up, pulling out, backing up, pulling out...makes you want to scream - I usually just glare at them, throwing daggers from my eyes. Don't be that person, please. My mission here to educate one horrible backer-upper at a time. Just think, if you dive nose-first into the stall, you saved yourself maybe a few minutes, and over a few years, that will equal thousands of minutes, and hours and weeks and years of your life! Stop backing unless you absolutely have to!!! Do you want to waste your life backing up? SERVICE: Really nice. The place was empty when we got there on a Friday afternoon, a little before lunch but started to semi-fill up when we were done. It wasn't as greasy and tasty as the downtown location, but it was good and piping hot. Lovely dollops of sweet ricotta on my spinach and garlic pizza that was easy on the garlic but still yummy. I enjoyed a casual dinner at the Kahala J. Dolans. So much free parking as compared to the downtown location. Got seated quickly. Not a big pizza eater but enjoyed the Caprese salad that was wonderful. Some people ordered the pepperoni pizza. I had to try at least one slice so I ordered a cheese pizza slice. First visit to the J. Dolan's on Waialae Avenue, in the Kuono Marketplace. A pib that specializes in pizza...they offer slices of their cheese pizza...and that is what I had while watching Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Excellent. I believe it was a Brooklyn style pie. Also, requested a basket of both chicken wings and fries. The wings were salty but still good. Fries were shoestring cut - not my fave - but alright. Got one Corona...kept it to one because I am a lightweight and driving. I've been to the Chinatown location...too busy and parking is too much of a hassle, so this is a good alternative. A bit overpriced - except for their pizzas - basket of wings was $16. Lots of mall parking stalls. After an 0-2 start... I am a longtime Oilers fan...left after the 1sr period. My friends and I were going to a concert at Hawaii Theatre and needed to eat dinner first so we decided on pizza because it's yummy and filling! When we walked in, we didn't know what to do so we just stood by the entrance and a server came by and told us it was self seating - oops! We picked a table to fit the 3 of us and the server came by with menus. The atmosphere was dim and slightly loud because they had sports games showing on tvs and the place seemed to be about 60% ish filled and this was 5:15pm on a Tuesday! We ordered and shared the spinach and garlic pizza, salad, and chicken wings. I didn't try the chicken wings since I had a lingering cough from my cold (not suppose to eat fried), but my friends devoured them! The pizza was so so good!!! It was a thin crust, garlicky spinach and had a dollop of ricotta cheese on each slice. The salad was nice to balance everything out, but I love salads! It was nice being seated right away at J Dolan's Kahala. Didn't expect that. The place is always buzzing and isn't the best spot to have an actual conversation, but the food is good. Our server was great also - very peppy, easy to understand, gave us a good rec, and checked on us frequently. We waited awhile for the pies, though - I guess it was busy and they were inundated by takeout orders? But, I would say they should take care of the in-person customers first? I think it must've been either an assembly line issue or an oven space issue because the frings came out very fast, but the pizzas took maybe 40 minutes. Its O'ahu time, and I wanted to share some of the places I hit during my trip to da 'aina. My cuz & I dropped by JD's Waialae late night for pupus and drinks. We also caught the tail end of the Stanford vs UH Men's VBall game. Too bad the Bows lost a tight match in 4 sets. We shared wangz and calamari, and also had a couple of beers. I couldn't remember the individual prices, but the total b4 tax was reasonable at ~ $60. First of all, the wangz were spicy and meaty. They were battered nicely, and the batter had all the spices and heat. Secondarily, the calamari was a big portion, and it was GBD. The batter was light, and the calamari was tender. Regarding the ambiance, its spacious in here. We sat at the bar, and we could see lots of tables for four, as well as larger tables for bigger groups. The bartenders wore black vests, if I am not mistaken. Odd story: I go #1 in the urinal, and did not lock the door bc there is a urinal and toilet. Some DB comes in after me, and says the toilet doesn't have any privacy bc there is a pony wall vs a lockable stall. I ignored him and proceeded to wash my hands. Then this mthrfukr says, he wants me to leave. I told him to fuk off. I was there first. If you had a problem w/ someone being in the bathroom the same time as you, you should have waited outside. Mind you, this is coming from a guy who has prolly pissed on a golf course, on a wall, or in a parking lot of a bar when he was drunk: So fukn lame! They should have a lockable stall for the toilet, so I don't have to deal w/ bitches like this. On the other hand, the bartenders were cool, and got us everything we needed. The only downside was we asked for tartar sauce, and they charged us $1.50: Palm to face. I'd come back to JD's for the food and the service. I hope they put a real stall for the toilet, so guys can be efficient about using the restroom, and accommodate assholes like the one I encountered. read more

Saturday August 30, 2025 first time, coming here for dinner after Planet Fitness Kahala. Amazing had plenty parking for once at 4:30pm. We was seated right away by the hostess. We ordered onion rings for an appetizer. Then we ordered 2 Giacomo "Jock O Mo" pizzas for dinner. The food was good and we loved that the pizzas was a thin crust. Service was friendly and fast. This was my second visit at J. Dolan's. We went for lunch at 11:00 on a weekday. It was quiet for the first 30 minutes until the lunch crowd arrived. We got onion rings, salad and a pizza to share. My Spinach, Garlic, Chicken was delicious. My lunch date loved her side as well. Our server was very patient with us as we had so much to catch up on we took awhile to order our food. Thank you so much. We saw a female worker painting the outside tables. Later we found out that she was a manager and she was put a fresh coat of varnish on the tables. Bathroom was clean too. Update 6-16-25. Saw on their menu they have fish and chips. So hubby said we go for lunch. I said ok. Got There and sure enough they had it on the menu. We ordered that plus caprise salad and onion rings. The salad had local greens, slice tomatoes and slice of fresh mozzarella drizzle with balsamic vinegar. The food was good and filling. The fish and chips cooked just right, onion rings too. After awhile it got a little noisey. I guess it's a bar as well. Lol.. Will be back again. This time only 1 dish to share and not 3. Went to J Dolans this past weekend. It was so good. The food did take a lot longer than expected. They quoted me 30-35 mins but when I got there we waited another 20 mins for food. Other than that the food was good even after we took it home. The pizza was cold but I am guessing their deep fryer was backed up and so my pizza was waiting on the line. The toppings I chose were ricotta cheese, meatballs, jalapeños, and pepperoni. The fish and chips were surprisingly really good!! We will definitely be ordering this again. Great pizza! Can always count on J Dolans to satisfy my pizza cravings. Casual, dim lit bar/restaurant. Servers are fast & know the menu and drink menu well. My husband and I love going here and the one in downtown because of the ambiance and vibes. They even gave my daughter a little coloring paper with crayons. We ordered half spinach and garlic & half of their special they were doing with pepperoni, salami and mushroom. We always love the spinach & garlic because of the ricotta dollops and it is so garlicky. The special was good as well! We loved the mushrooms on it. Crust is thin and crispy. The pie is on the smaller side since me & my husband can polish off the whole thing without getting too full. We always order the onion rings and chicken wings to go along with it. The chicken wings are so moist and battered to be really crispy! They don't serve ranch so we usually order it with a side of honey mustard. Pairs really well surprisingly! If you're in the mood for pizza, you need to try this place! It's in the newer shopping center in Kahala with ample parking (compared to the downtown location). My boyfriend and I ordered a full pizza as well as fries and onion rings. He decided to get a beer since there were so many options to choose from. The interior is really nice and with lots of TVs to watch football and baseball games. I will say that the service was slow but maybe it was because it was a Saturday night. I'm a chicken wings fan and I always heard J Dolans had pretty good ones. Went around 100pm ... no problem getting a table but this on a week day . We ordered some chicken wings and a pizza . Only two of us so that's all we could handle. Our waiter was really nice and pleasant . Well ....They did not disappoint! It was really delicious and one of the best wings I've had . I overlooked that it was a little salty. Of course .. they want you to drink more ..right ?? We just ordered cokes and our waiter constantly checked on us for refills. The pizza was also very good and because we couldn't decide which to order .. our waiter was nice enough to suggest we could do half and half on a pizza . Good idea! Located in the Kahala center across of Kahala Mall with lots of New Restaurants and Shops and also Foodland Farms. It was pretty busy, but the service was fast and got a table within 3 mins. The Hostess was very nice and also the server. We decided to order half Spinach and Garlic and half Jersey white pie which is similar except for the spinach. I really like the spinach and garlic the flavor of the garlic was noticeable and the spinach gave it body and it was very tasty and the crust was very crispy. The Jersey White pie was okay it, but didn't have the body, and the cheeses were more creamy in texture and the flavor wasn't as noticeable, the crust was good and crispy. Went to J Dolan's in Kahala. Love the location better than downtown because there's plenty of free parking and inside has a true pizza + bar vibe with plenty of seating. Got the spinach garlic pizza, Boardwalk and Giacamo pizza. If u love garlic and spinach, it's a solid pizza to try. If you're a meat lover person than the Giacamo is well suited for ya. And if u like a little bit of meet but love onion and bell pepper flavors to evenly complement the meat, than Boardwalk would be my choice. If it wasnt for the price, I'd say they're all solid pizzas with different flavors enough to satisfy the palate. Staff was nice and friendly and had the pizza out around the estimated time they gave when we ordered. The only reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is the price. If it was $20 for each whole pizza instead of $23-$25 I'd give it 5 stars! read more
