    Apple Crisp A La Mode

I'm not sure what happened to Murphy's, but my recent visit was disappointing. Customer service was alright and the quality of food has dropped. Recession indicator? It pains me to write this review because Murphy's could do no wrong, by my eyes, prior to today. I wish I got a picture of today's French dip. Not sure what changes but the sandwich was bland, the au jus was weak and the temperature of everything was off. The fries were crispy and delightful, but everything else was tasteless. My boyfriend's shepherd's pie had more liquid than substance. The mashed potatoes were piled on higher than usual, but the inside toppings were fewer. Salad was yummy. The server seemed inexperienced or bothered? She was not rude, but did not tend to our table. I ran out of water midway and she never noticed. I drank my boyfriend's glass. When our potato skins came out, we were not given any share plates. The server never asked if we needed anything and was hard to find. The only time she really acknowledged us was when we asked for the check ... The restaurant is as beautiful and well kept as ever. Charming and clean. The original staff is hardworking, and the pies are brilliant whenever I can get a hold of one. Today's visit has deterred me from going anytime soon, but I'm open to giving Murphy's another try.

Bread pudding $10 St Patrick's day special

After seeing Murphys on the news on St Patty's day I decided to order take out to celebrate since their sit down dinner reservations were all taken. I called in my order and drove down Nuuanu Ave they had a tent set up and I parked in front, paid by debit card and picked up my Lamb shank, corned beef and bread pudding. The process was organized efficient despite it being St Patty's day. My only disappointment was the food itself. The corned beef ($28.50) wasn't seasoned and the veggies and potato was not seasoned at all so was a little bland. The lamb shank ($32.50) was tender and was definitely more flavorful. I would still like to come in sometime to try other dishes. I think because of the large quantity of takeout orders they were just rushing to accommodate the orders since its their busiest day. I love supporting local and appreciate their efficiency during that busy day.

    Trunk full of takeouts

Murphy's Bar and Grill is Oahu's premiere Irish Pub. Located at the corner of Nuuanu and Mercant Streets in downtown Honolulu. Today being St. Patrick's Day, my wife and I decided to do a take out lunch for St Patrick's Day. She ordered ahead and when we got there she was told that they were taking cash only at the drive by pickup. Even though she did give her credit card # over the phone. We had to wait a few minutes because they were alot of takeouts. The lady in the car in front of me filled her back seat and trunk with takeout meals. My wife had the Sweet chili Salmon Ceasars salad and I had the Lamb Shank. I tasted her salmon and thought it was grilled to perfection. It had a great grilled taste and it was tender and juicy. My Lamb shanks was tender and fell off the bone. The tomato sauce that it was braised in was a little flat. Happy St. Patrick's Day. Enjoy

Pork chop with veggies and mashed potatoes

The food was delicious. All four of us loved our meals. The service was very good and the ambiance is just great for an Irish pub bar and grill. Parking is cheap on Smith St. cheaper than the open parking across from Murphy's open air parking lot. We saved $3 compared to our friends who parked there, granted we had to walk 100 yards more but after a great meal, the walk does one good. Their pies are always great but we missed out as Mrs. Murphy's home made pies sell out usually before 7 pm. We had a terrific bread pudding that was rich in flavor and not overly sweet. We enjoyed our evening and will continue to support this place in the future. The pork chops, corned beef and cabbage as well as the lamb chops and fish and chips are excellent choices. You should visit sooner than later! I'm sure you'll be satisfied.

Greeted upon arrival and seated immediately. Restaurant just opened so they were not that busy. The place had a comfortable relaxed feeling. I really wanted to eat a shepherds pie and that is why my husband chose this place. We ordered the Shepards pie and the Irish dip. Both dishes were so onolicious! So happy I went there! We will be going back to try their fresh corned beef and cabbage dish.

Came with some friends after work on a Friday and stayed for hours. When you enter, there's both a bar side and a restaurant side that you can sit at; my friends and I sat on the restaurant side. We made a reservation beforehand to be safe but reservations are totally optional! The vibes are super casual here. Food was yummy! I ordered the fish and chips; they were both fried well and tasted good. My friends also ordered the shepherd's pie, corned beef with cabbage, and blackened chicken. Didn't get photos of these but we all were happy with our food! We ordered a slice of each of the pies on special to share for dessert. The pies were delicious and I would totally order all of them again, especially the key lime! What we were really here for was the Irish Coffee. Who knew that coffee, Irish whiskey, brown sugar, and fresh cream would produce such a great drink?? I've only had Irish Coffees in San Francisco but knowing that I now have a spot in Honolulu to go to is dangerous! Service was great! The servers here are very pleasant, the food came out promptly, and the drinks were refilled quickly; how could I complain? Location is great, it's on the corner of Nuuanu and Merchant. If you can't luck out with street parking, there's a municipal lot located right across the street.

10.25.24 I'm excited to dine at Murphy's for the first time

Friendly atmosphere, Delicious food [Honolulu HI] OMG! I just had the best pork chops here at Murphy's. My co-workers in our Honolulu office took me here for lunch (less than 5-min walk from our building in Downtown Honolulu). Reservations recommended. We placed our orders for the following: Open Face Turkey Sandwich Fish N' Chips Garlic Crusted Pork Chop Apple Pie Blueberry Pie Funny because my co-workers placed orders for the pies first. They told me it's because they run out especially on Fridays where they have more flavor selection. The Garlic Crusted Pork Chop had a combination of sweet, savory, and spicy flavors... seasoned just perfectly for my taste. Soft, juicy, pan-seared pork chop smothered with their seasoning herbs... and garlic. It was love at first bite. The apple pie was yummy too like our apple pies in Apple Hill. The pies were served warm and complemented with vanilla ice cream. I'm so glad we had lunch there on a Friday because they are normally closed on Saturdays and Sundays. I love the vintage ambiance. Customer Service was great! Review #3580

Love love love this place. John is the friendliest server outside of Ireland. My husband asked Deschitrd the Abuss-they are aging a stash here. Lovely wine and a proper Guinness. Food and menu looked great.

    Chicken Wings

Best chicken wings I ever had!!! Ask for extra ranch sauce lol. The sheappards pie was featured on the tv show, "diners drive ins and dives". The lamb chops tasted like it was from a five star steakhouse that serves $50 dishes. The caesar salad was a solid appetizer that was fresh and pretty much get what you ask for. And the salmon was meh but Murphy's is more of a meat place anyways lol. Definitely recommend their food!!! This place is a must try if you havent been here The biggest pleasant surprise though were their desserts. I'm usually the type not to order dessert when I go to restaurants, but man, their desserts are insanely good, with big portions at a reasonable cost. I recommend any sort of pie and their bread pudding (both ala mode of course!) 5 stars!!! (I would give it 10 stars if I could) Parking is a bit tricky though as youd have to find street parking. There's also different buildings and lots u can park in that's walking distance but I'm not too familiar with those. It's definitely worth it for the food though.

    Shepherd's pie
    Moana T.

I came in for lunch and made it in time to get pie. There were 8 different flavors and only a few flavors have more than one pie made. The lunch rush seems to be made up of regulars and from where I sat I could see a lot of food coming out but quite a few pie orders as well, so I made sure to get my order in early. It is pricy for a lunch but I think it's worth it for special occasions. Some people just came in to get their pie orders. P.S - They only sell by the slice. I will definitely be back!

Shepherd's Pie (Featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives) with a side salad.

A few days after my birthday, it was kind of sudden to perhaps have my family come with me to Murphy's. Another place that was once featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives with Guy Fieri? Sign me up...because this is the 3rd place I checked into that was on Triple D, alongside with The Alley in Aiea and Hank's Haute Dogs in SALT at our Ka'kaako. There was a comforting vibe about the area that I really liked. It felt like the kind of place that would be a casual 'enjoy the ambiance' type of feel to it. The food was great there. I ordered the Shepherd's Pie, one of the dishes that Triple D highlighted. It took the first few bites to maybe perhaps get an idea of how tasty it was. It delivered on all facets. I could see myself in an Irish pub, ordering this on a cold day. There was just something comforting about it that I enjoyed. I can tell it looked very homey, very straightforward, but well done in a traditional sense. To finish my meal there, I ordered the Apple Crisp a la Mode. Super delicious and a very fitting end to my meal. Thanks a lot, Murphy's. You made me a happy customer there. Would I recommend this place? If you have a knack in craving some tasty Irish pub food, go for it. On my next visit, I should think about coming back there to try the Irish Dip.

Irish Burger with bleu cheese and fries! Definitely delicious and I ate it all!

Great place for a work lunch! My fantastic office manager brought us here for Administrative Professionals Day. We had a party of 10 and called in a pre-order. When we arrived we had our reserved seats available - you definitely want to make a reservation here if you think of coming for lunch. It's a busy busy place. Our drink orders were taken and shortly after drinks came our food was dropped off at the table. Everything came out hot and fresh and just what I needed to make my tummy happy. I got the Irish burger with bleu cheese and fries. (Basically it was a burger with bleu cheese) but it was so yummy. I can't believe I ate the entire thing and all my fries and still had space to share a dessert! I got the Chocolate Pot De Creme with a scoop of Kona coffee gelato to share with one of my co-workers. The dessert was so ono and yes, the recommendation from our other co-worker to get Kona Coffee gelato with it was spot on! I'm looking forward to coming back said so far after 3 times I haven't been disappointed.

Review/update. It just can't be said enough in my opinion, Murphy's bar and grill is like going home for lunch or dinner. The food is absolutely amazing, the family feel and welcoming staff are exceptional, and the mixologists know exactly what they are doing. Whether it's corned beef and cabbage, a burger, or the specials, the food is always delicious, well prepared, and presented in an amazingly timely manner. If you have never been, you're missing out on the eighth wonder of the world, if you have been, you know what I'm saying. Don't forget, Fridays are pie day, fresh home baked pies and slices to die for. First come, first serve, so you better beat me there.

Really closed Saturdays and Sundays? I hope not...

According to the website it says closed Sat/Sun until further notice... so yeah, they're just open M-F for now.

Where do we park after hours (5:30)?

Municipal building across from the open parking lot. Very cheap parking. Cash only. Then walk 2-3 mins to Murphys.

I've seen people say that they serve one of the best New York-style pizzas in Oahu. After today, they certainly delivered on that promise. So...as far as what I ordered there, with a friend, this was a good place to share a pizza and salad today. I got their mixed green salad alongside the Boardwalk pie. Wow...was it so good. Salad - Loved it...felt very fresh and unique, especially with the snow peas and broccoli, two ingredients I wouldn't have expected to be on a salad, but it works. Pizza - Dynamite. The crust was so crispy and definitely was beautiful to look at. Flavor was excellent...as it made me feel like I was experiencing a taste of New York right there. I can't say much more about this place, but man...they really brought the 'wow' factor for a pizza pub. Would I recommend this place? Totally. If you want to experience a good slice of NY style pizza, this is a good place to look at. Maybe sometime if I do come back, I would love to try their Giacomo pie. Thanks J Dolan, you really brightened up my day. 10/10

Brick fire tavern is good but European style and not the staple NY style. Much to my delight I finally tried this place - the hub had told me that it was opened by one of the original owners of JJ Dolan. Well he must've been the one who knew how to make real pizza. This Jersey tomato pie was so friggin delicious I coulda finished the whole thing myself except that I had also eaten some of their excellent and perfectly cooked fish and chips. First the pizza - it was almost like grandma style bc he drizzles more tomato sauce on top of the cheese. Not truly grandma style bc the toppings and cheese don't go all the way to the edges but honestly I'm a crust lover and their crust is super delicious and crisp. The sauce is amazing. It's not a huge slice like a real NY pizza but the flavors are all there. Fish and chips - I'm never big on this dish but these were cooked perfectly. Came out hot and crisp and light not oily. These fries were perfection - crispy, hot, seasoned but not too salty and potatoey on the inside but not too much. The fish was not oily and hot and perfect texture. The ambience is an Irish pub with character not a dive. There's a pay parking lot steps away. And for lunch it's practically empty on the weekday.
