This is our favorite pizza place, we go there a least 1 time a month, the ambience have a positive and cheerful vibes. The pizzas are delicious and the ingredients are always fresh, the service is always great!

I'm from NJ and this hits pretty close! The white pizza was soooo good. Everyone was nice, service was easy. Decor seems a little random but I think it's owners choice! Definitely going back.

I've been to Black Shamrock Tavern a few times and loved it. They open at noon and my group of friends arrive by 12:30pm. We order fries as the appetizer and 2 pizzas to share. The pizzas are made fresh and it takes about 20 minutes for the kitchen to make them. The crust is thin and slightly chewy. The toppings are generous. I've done take out before and the pizza is still good. Their cheese and pepperoni pizzas are priced at $18 each which is a good deal. You get 8 slices from each pizza. Most of the people who dine-in work in the downtown area. The lunch crowd is chill but if you go after work, it's loud. If there's a party happening on 1 side of the restaurant, it's even louder but all good. This is all part of the bar vibe and pau hana time.

Great little pub downtown. Great beer and good eats. We didn't get the pizzas but they look great! And we saw so many people enjoying them! We loved the duck drum sticks, crispy full of flavor and the dipping sauce was awesome!!! Service was great low key and fast! Perfect little break to enjoy a good cold fresh beer and bits!

We started coming here for the pizza and beer. This time we added the Fried Duck Drumsticks and they were the bomb. There's plenty of street parking or there's a public parking lot across the street. Give them a try when you in the downtown Honolulu area. They also just renovated their bathrooms, so that's another plus. Aloooooooha and happy eating.

Pi Day - 3.14 I am not one to rave about pizza too much, but WOW!!! The joisey pie was amazing. I would have never thought that broccoli would taste so good on a pizza. With ricotta and garlic, this pie was top notch. Our table also ordered the Da Mo (since my hubby is a meat lover). It was also delish. I loved how you could pick up the pizza, fold it in half, and eat it without making a mess. Talk about perfection. This restaurant is located on Nuuanu - right across from Murphy's bar and grill. There is street parking and also a big municipal lot that charges $3/hour at night. I loved the atmosphere of this Irish pub - it felt so welcoming and everyone seemed to have a good time. Would 100% recommend and can't wait the other pies.

Family friendly spot perfect for a date night. They have a great selection of drinks with exceptional pizza. One Da 'Mo was a perfect size for two of us. It is not too loud inside and it is clean and decorated tastefully. We enjoyed the music and the staff were attentive and took great care of us. Special thanks to April for your hospitality!

Best pizza we've had in a very long time, we even ate our leftovers cold the next morning and still delicious . We will eat here again no doubt!

Ordered the Joisey white pie (broccoli, garlic, ricotta). The pizza came out hot and the crust was a good thickness. Appreciated the big dollops of ricotta and garlic flavor. Pretty good, but didn't hit the spot like J. Dolan's spinach and garlic. The Caesar salad had a nice dressing and crisp fresh lettuce with cherry tomatoes. Chicken fritters were pretty much chicken tenders. The fries and bleu cheese dressing were yummy. I liked how the dining area was separated from the bar area. Overall, it felt well kept for and had a relaxing pub theme with TVs around. There were lots of families with young kids.

Located across the street from an iconic Irish Pub, Black Shamrock is another iconic Irish Pub with a different vibe in downtown Honolulu. One of the attractions about Black Shamrock is the kitchen makes and serves pizza - on the day I visited, J (owner, chef, great all-around guy) decided he wanted fired noodles and katsu...and made it into a pizza. Really? Yup, and it was actually tasty - great flavor, texture - not something I would make/order, but it was recommended and it was truly good. We also had the "traditional" pepperoni pizza - thin crust, great texture and flavor. Additionally, instead of chicken wings, duck wings are served. A different flavor and texture compared to chicken wings...its definitely good, something to try - and I would say, much more tasty than traditional chicken wings. As with all Irish pubs, it's only as good as it's pour of Guinness - it's poured to standard, meaning it's good. Irish whiskeys? Check (selection of Bushmills, Jameson, Red Breast); Bourbon? Check. Scotch? Check. A great selection of beers and whiskeys. Parking is available on the street or a public lot close by...check it out, you will not be disappointed.

Located on the makai end of Nuuanu across from Murphy's. Large parking lot next door and street parking. Typical Irish bar with great selection on tap as well as a wall full of spirits. Here you'll find specialty and regular pizzas as well as salads things out of the fryer and signature cocktails. Staff is friendly, owner is awesome and super friendly. This bar always has great community events and people love to hold celebrations here.

A good friend and fellow Canadian (I'm also American) and I met for drinks and a White Pizza to drown our sorrows after the election results. Love this place, it's clean air and Celtic vibe. Ashley, our server and bartender, was able to come up with a couple of drink suggestions so we could forget what was happening politically. The first was a Jameson's Scotch and Ginger Beer (too sweet) so I changed over to Jameson's Scotch and Soda (much better). While we chatted we watched a hockey game and more people started coming into the establishment. Love this spot. Love it, love it.

To my surprise, on a Sunday evening after having dinner nearby at Maze, my wife and I walked over to Bar Leather Apron and we were able to get seated right away! In fact, around 7:30 p.m. when we stopped by, there was actually a ton of seating available in the bar. Who would've guessed. If you're in the same boat as me and are unable to find a reservation for your upcoming visit, I would encourage you to stop by and try a walk-in. The first page of the menu lists a wide variety of whiskey based cocktails. Most -- if not all, of the cocktails are pre-fixed with BLA (Bar Leather Apron), and represent a collaboration with the named distillery. If you're fan of whiskey, you'll definitely have a difficult time picking only one. I ultimately ordered their "Take Warning" -- 2021 BLA Knob Creek BLA Single Barrel, Cynar, Carpano Antica, Mezcal, Bergamot Salt. Drinks here are not cheap -- averaging $20 to $25 per drink. Although my drink was very spirit forward, it still felt very well balanced. I appreciated the hint of smokiness from the mezcal that rounded out the end of a sip. Service here quick and friendly. When we received the check, a cute small chocolate snack was brought over as well, borrowed from the menu at Maze. Overall, I can see why Bar Leather Apron has earned so many accolades in its field. Definitely worth a stop by if you enjoy the art of mixology.

It is why you've searched for EP bar, looked over various reviews, and randomly found yourself reading thru the first few lines of this review. Well, welcome Dear Reader, and I hope what I'm about to share peaks your interest to visit EP Bar. I had my 2nd visit to EP Bar earlier this month with friends for some after dinner drinks. We did make a res, but there were some walk-ins while we there, so it's probably recommended but not necessary. We perused the menu, and our 1st round consisted of: Ringo Star Strawberry Fields Forever Pho Us By Us Hail Mary Any guesses on the drink I chose? It's related to the Beatles. If you guessed Ringo Star.....take another guess. The Strawberry Fields Forever was very refreshing. Recommended. My partner ordered the Hail Mary, which (sadly) wasn't to his liking, and he happily "helped" me finish my drink before ordering his own in the next round. I chose the Ringo Star as my next drink, and I'd say if you're a fan of Mr. Star and/or apples, this drink is right up your orchard. Recommended. SERVICE The service is friendly, mixed with a splash of polite, and served with patience and knowledge. BOTTOM LINE A great place for drinks. Casual ambiance/vibe and relaxed atmosphere. Recommended.

Fifteen minutes west of Waikiki, you'll find yourself in a completely different Hawaii…read more Honolulu's Chinatown feels worlds away from the beachfront resorts and postcard-perfect sunsets. The neighborhood is vibrant, gritty, and alive--a mix of Chinese, Southeast Asian, and Native Hawaiian influences layered over historic buildings, glowing neon signs, art galleries, and hidden cocktail dens. It reminded me a bit of New Orleans: worn facades with stories to tell, creative energy around every corner, and the sense that the best experiences are often tucked behind an unassuming door. Which makes it the perfect home for EP Bar. "EP" stands for Extend Play, a fitting name for a place built around music. Long before listening bars became fashionable in Los Angeles, New York, and London, there were the jazz kissa of Japan--small cafés where people gathered not to drink or dance, but to listen. Records spun through carefully tuned sound systems while patrons sat immersed in the music. The music wasn't background noise. It was the main event. Walking into EP Bar, you can feel traces of that tradition. The room is intimate and inviting. Reservations are highly recommended because the place fills up quickly on weekend nights. Once inside, the atmosphere hits a sweet spot. The music is loud enough to create a mood and provide privacy for conversation, yet never so overpowering that it dominates the room. Loud enough to muffle the secrets being shared between old friends. Loud enough to drown out the office gossip that somehow followed everyone from the coffee machine into happy hour. The soundtrack isn't just playing--it's setting the tone. As an Old Fashioned guy, my choice was easy. I ordered a Oaxaca OF, which swaps traditional whiskey for mezcal. Smoky, balanced, and memorable, it felt like the kind of drink that rewards slow sipping between tracks. Another member of our group went with the Pho Us By Us. To nobody's surprise except perhaps her own, it tasted a little salty. Considering the ingredients--Green Chile Vodka, Sake, Pho Spice, Lemon, and Soda--it was probably the most honest cocktail description I've ever seen. The drink tasted exactly like its name suggested. That's part of the fun here. The menu doesn't hide behind clever marketing. Drinks like Thai Me Down and Candy Rain practically dare you to order them. Not every note landed perfectly. Service was a little off-beat during our visit. But like any live performance, sometimes the rhythm isn't flawless. Thankfully, the vibes, decor, music, and overall experience more than carried the set. What I appreciated most was that EP Bar doesn't feel like a gimmick. It feels like a genuine continuation of a tradition that began decades ago in Japan's listening cafés, traveled across oceans, and found a home in Honolulu's Chinatown. It's a place where music matters, conversation flows, and the pace of the evening slows down just enough to appreciate both. The place slaps for what it is--and for what it isn't. In a world increasingly filled with distractions, EP Bar invites you to do something refreshingly simple: sit down, have a great drink, listen to great music, and be present. I'll definitely be back. After all, every good record deserves another spin, and I'm curious to see how the needle lands next time.

Food highlights the soft scrambled eggs w/ cheese - if you prefer the soft scramble this is for you - the salmon was cooked to perfection- breakfast meats of Portuguese sausage and chicken sausages were both fantastic- grilled veggies was good but served cold and I prefer it served hot - grilled corn on the Cobb very sweet - strip loin is excellent and I loved the chimichurri and horseradish served on the side makes it yummy. my sisters loved the lemon blueberry French toast too and another favorite the coconut lime scones and mango tart!!! I think the only item that didn't send us to the moon was the pork ribs as it lacked the flavors we were hoping for but didn't get. They kept both our plates cleared and water & coffee filled. Coffee is excellent and we enjoyed our mimosas. The staff are helpful and friendly and a return is scheduled for the next trip to Hawaii

Love his helpful suggestions, his pineapple shaved ice drink is not only an art piece but delicious! Tart, lightly sweet, icy, the scent, texture, the beauty! I'm a horrible photographer so I can't capture it to show you but just get it! You're welcome! I love their bourbon, candied bacon... the best! The Sunday brunch is simple, easy, and reasonable. Don't bring more than a table of 4. Also, not for kids. This is a magical, quiet place for adults, an oasis in the midst of the Ala Moana noise and craziness. My new favorite spot especially when I'm alone.

And came in right when they opened. Had to wait a little while they set up but they quickly took our drink order and started making them. Our bartender was super friendly and kind. I recommend. Would come again if in the area and looking for drinks and some food. If the rest of their menu is as wonderful as the escargot, this place is a gem.

Walking in I do love the slight dimly lit vibe as it gives me the feeling of relaxation and escape though it's not dark but just a calmness as we were taken to our table the staff is very nice and welcoming. Their menu offerings as I enjoyed a unique twist like Crostini Al Porcini which is a crostini topped with mozzarella and mushrooms was a fresh bite as some of the arugula that is topped off gave it a nice bite. The Rib Eye steak which I still dream about which we asked to be sliced for us was done perfectly and the Demi sauce was very delicate yet so flavorful and what a hearty bite along with our Caesar salad a classic that you just can't go wrong. I've also had the Puttanesca which was delicious as the linguine cooked just right scooped up all the sauce and yes this was two different nights but enjoyed just a wonderfully as I'm so grateful to have thoughtful friends I'm so thankful for, thank you Terry K and Nadine C as Mezzo was a wonderful place to escape. Cheers my friends as I'm beyond happy for these moments as hearty and amazing as the food is here so are the memories. Thank you!

Had a glass of wine and baby had watered down lemonade. Her drinks were put in plastic cups with covers and those horrible paper straws. Eyes always bigger than my stomach, we ordered: - Cornbread - when i grabbed it I thought would be super dense but really wasn't. I thought it was very corny and tasty. Lightly toasted. Honey drizzle which wasn't too sweet...or maybe I just ate the parts that didn't have. Baby ate almost 1.5 pieces and even liked the Jalapeno Butter that I just dabbed on her bread. She said wasn't spicy but think she just didn't have enough. - Bone Marrow - lit it on fire to burn off the alcohol. Pretty sure it ddin't get it all so I cut baby off once I realized it. Other than needing some salt, really good. Choke mushrooms on top. One half was scrawny, but hubs had the other half for leftovers and choke marrow. YUM. - Sunchoke and Brussels - YUM. Baby ate some but was not really thrilled about it. I loved it. - Scallop and Mushroom Risotto - YUM. Delish. Baby liked it too. So much leftovers of everything. Realized when we ate it for leftovers it was all pretty oily and needed a pinch of salt. But otherwise great. Staff really nice and helpful. Love that the place is spread out and open. Bathrooms are not assigned which I'm sure can get gross, but is great to not have to wait for just the women's. There is a big stall which was perf since baby is potty training and had to go #1 and #2! Only thing missing was a hook to hang my purse and her bag. Great dinner...but if anyone is listening...bring back the shrimp and grits!!!

Ordered several different things and shared it with my husband. The blue crabcakes were tasty, the…read morescallop and mushroom risotto was just okay and a bit on the watery side and didn't have that much risotto. I am not accustomed to risotto being watery. The smoked octopus was sliced in pieces that were too thick and a little too chewy and the andouille sausage and black pepper overpowered the dish. Ordered the bourbon and bone marrow mostly for the presentation. It was WAAAY too rich and needed more bread to go with it. They should've served it with bread that wasn't buttered because the buttered bread even though tasty by itself was just too rich in combination with all of that bone marrow. The dish needed more balance. The ice cream sundae was unremarkable. Would have preferred it served with a choice of hot fudge or the caramel drizzle and since it was plain vanilla ice cream they could've drizzled a lot more caramel over it. The waitress did bring us more nuts when we asked, but they were busy at the time and she was the only server so it took her a while to get to us, and the ice cream was pretty melted by the time she delivered. We got there when they opened at 5 PM and they had two servers at that time. The place wasn't busy so it seemed like they had enough help for the amount of tables that were being seated. An hour and a half later, though, one server was missing (possibly taking a lunch break) and the only server remaining at several big parties to take care of which slowed down her responsiveness to the other smaller tables like ours. The music playing in the background seemed to fit the environment and was pleasant to listen to. It's a pretty casual atmosphere. The prices for what you get are a bit on the high end. Probably wouldn't go back unless someone else is paying. We didn't feel too bad this time because we had a gift certificate which covered most of our bill. Maybe we were choosing all the wrong items and should have just stuck to ordering meat dishes, which they might be better at making (with a name like Livestock). You'll have to check this place out yourself and see if they do a better job with meat and if the prices for those dishes are more reasonable. I gave this place four stars instead of three because the servers were friendly, the atmosphere was pleasant, and the food was mostly okay (tasty enough and filling).
