Great little pub downtown. Great beer and good eats. We didn't get the pizzas but they look great! And we saw so many people enjoying them! We loved the duck drum sticks, crispy full of flavor and the dipping sauce was awesome!!! Service was great low key and fast! Perfect little break to enjoy a good cold fresh beer and bits!

We started coming here for the pizza and beer. This time we added the Fried Duck Drumsticks and they were the bomb. There's plenty of street parking or there's a public parking lot across the street. Give them a try when you in the downtown Honolulu area. They also just renovated their bathrooms, so that's another plus. Aloooooooha and happy eating.

Pi Day - 3.14 I am not one to rave about pizza too much, but WOW!!! The joisey pie was amazing. I would have never thought that broccoli would taste so good on a pizza. With ricotta and garlic, this pie was top notch. Our table also ordered the Da Mo (since my hubby is a meat lover). It was also delish. I loved how you could pick up the pizza, fold it in half, and eat it without making a mess. Talk about perfection. This restaurant is located on Nuuanu - right across from Murphy's bar and grill. There is street parking and also a big municipal lot that charges $3/hour at night. I loved the atmosphere of this Irish pub - it felt so welcoming and everyone seemed to have a good time. Would 100% recommend and can't wait the other pies.

Family friendly spot perfect for a date night. They have a great selection of drinks with exceptional pizza. One Da 'Mo was a perfect size for two of us. It is not too loud inside and it is clean and decorated tastefully. We enjoyed the music and the staff were attentive and took great care of us. Special thanks to April for your hospitality!

Ordered the Joisey white pie (broccoli, garlic, ricotta). The pizza came out hot and the crust was a good thickness. Appreciated the big dollops of ricotta and garlic flavor. Pretty good, but didn't hit the spot like J. Dolan's spinach and garlic. The Caesar salad had a nice dressing and crisp fresh lettuce with cherry tomatoes. Chicken fritters were pretty much chicken tenders. The fries and bleu cheese dressing were yummy. I liked how the dining area was separated from the bar area. Overall, it felt well kept for and had a relaxing pub theme with TVs around. There were lots of families with young kids.

Located across the street from an iconic Irish Pub, Black Shamrock is another iconic Irish Pub with a different vibe in downtown Honolulu. One of the attractions about Black Shamrock is the kitchen makes and serves pizza - on the day I visited, J (owner, chef, great all-around guy) decided he wanted fired noodles and katsu...and made it into a pizza. Really? Yup, and it was actually tasty - great flavor, texture - not something I would make/order, but it was recommended and it was truly good. We also had the "traditional" pepperoni pizza - thin crust, great texture and flavor. Additionally, instead of chicken wings, duck wings are served. A different flavor and texture compared to chicken wings...its definitely good, something to try - and I would say, much more tasty than traditional chicken wings. As with all Irish pubs, it's only as good as it's pour of Guinness - it's poured to standard, meaning it's good. Irish whiskeys? Check (selection of Bushmills, Jameson, Red Breast); Bourbon? Check. Scotch? Check. A great selection of beers and whiskeys. Parking is available on the street or a public lot close by...check it out, you will not be disappointed.

Located on the makai end of Nuuanu across from Murphy's. Large parking lot next door and street parking. Typical Irish bar with great selection on tap as well as a wall full of spirits. Here you'll find specialty and regular pizzas as well as salads things out of the fryer and signature cocktails. Staff is friendly, owner is awesome and super friendly. This bar always has great community events and people love to hold celebrations here.

A good friend and fellow Canadian (I'm also American) and I met for drinks and a White Pizza to drown our sorrows after the election results. Love this place, it's clean air and Celtic vibe. Ashley, our server and bartender, was able to come up with a couple of drink suggestions so we could forget what was happening politically. The first was a Jameson's Scotch and Ginger Beer (too sweet) so I changed over to Jameson's Scotch and Soda (much better). While we chatted we watched a hockey game and more people started coming into the establishment. Love this spot. Love it, love it.

If you're looking for a low-key hangout spot with just the right amount of background chatter and a relaxed, dim-lit vibe, Black Shamrock Tavern nails it. From the moment we walked in, it felt like the kind of place you could kick back and relax after work. Drinks: Black Shamrock has some cool finds when it comes to beer. We went with the Harp (European Pale Lager, $8) and Smithwick's (Irish Red Ale, $8). Both were light, refreshing, and perfect for washing down some classic pub eats. The Grub: For pupus, we started with the jalapeño poppers ($9). They were generously stuffed with gooey cream cheese! My one minor gripe: they were missing a bit of that spicy kick. These were more like "bell-peppery poppers" than "jalapeño poppers," but hey, that might just be the newbie in me talking since this was my very first time having a jalapeno popper! The real winner of the night was the pork belly burnt ends pizza ($23), which, luckily for us, was on tonight's menu. Our server hyped it up, and the crust absolutely delivered--it was pillowy, with just the right bread-to-cheese ratio. However, the pork belly could've been a tad crispier, as most of the pieces leaned more "roasted" than "burnt," and a little more demi-glace would've gave it the extra flavor it needed. Still, we polished it off and enjoyed every bite! Overall: If you want a no-frills, cozy night out with great drinks, Black Shamrock Tavern should be on your list. Will I be back? Absolutely!

Craft pizza and a pint! An Irish Pub in Chinatown Honolulu with the charm and feel you'd expect walking in. Went in for lunch and happened to stumble in on the final day of Restaurant Week, so an extra special surprise on the meal deal...we ended up ordering two pies, pepperoni and the lump crab andouille sausage, buffalo fritters which came with fries, and chose from the wide selection of draft pints. They offer a full bar with local and imported beer, wine, whiskey, tequila, Mezcal, etc. If you want to catch a game, they have TVs in both the bar abd restaurant areas, and the owner/chef mentioned they had aired the fight that had been on this week. Their Instagram is kept up to date on the menu and hours and fun activities.

The atmosphere of this tavern is really inviting. The service was very good. As for the food, I do not recommend getting the tater tots. It looked like it was the leftover bit of tater tots at the bottom of the bag. It didn't even fill up the bottom of the basket they put it in. The soft pretzels were good and the horseradish mustard that it came with was tasty. We got one of the special pizzas which included sausage, arugula, and gorgonzola cheese. The pizza was tasty. The drinks were also pretty affordable compared to the bar right across the street and they had quite a selection to choose from.

I love coming here! When I found out O'Tooles closed and it was under new ownership, I came to check it out with my Hawaii posse. Great place that has just evolved into a really cool place to meet up with friends! We were lucky because it was J.J's birthday! So meeting the owner was pretty cool! They have a great collection of whiskeys and beers and some really good food. I had never seen duck drumsticks on a menu before and they came with a delicious hoisin sauce. The chicken pizza with blue cheese was really good as was the meatball. But it was the wings that really blew me away! They were soooooooo effing tender and that crispy coating...cheee ho! Mahalo Black Shamrock! Always great stopping in!

To my surprise, on a Sunday evening after having dinner nearby at Maze, my wife and I walked over to Bar Leather Apron and we were able to get seated right away! In fact, around 7:30 p.m. when we stopped by, there was actually a ton of seating available in the bar. Who would've guessed. If you're in the same boat as me and are unable to find a reservation for your upcoming visit, I would encourage you to stop by and try a walk-in. The first page of the menu lists a wide variety of whiskey based cocktails. Most -- if not all, of the cocktails are pre-fixed with BLA (Bar Leather Apron), and represent a collaboration with the named distillery. If you're fan of whiskey, you'll definitely have a difficult time picking only one. I ultimately ordered their "Take Warning" -- 2021 BLA Knob Creek BLA Single Barrel, Cynar, Carpano Antica, Mezcal, Bergamot Salt. Drinks here are not cheap -- averaging $20 to $25 per drink. Although my drink was very spirit forward, it still felt very well balanced. I appreciated the hint of smokiness from the mezcal that rounded out the end of a sip. Service here quick and friendly. When we received the check, a cute small chocolate snack was brought over as well, borrowed from the menu at Maze. Overall, I can see why Bar Leather Apron has earned so many accolades in its field. Definitely worth a stop by if you enjoy the art of mixology.

One part of the restaurant looks like a classy upscale whiskey bar, with bottles that stretch from floor to ceiling and a sliding ladder to access the rare bottles located at the top. However, the other side of the restaurant looks like a Dave and Buster's, with a shuffleboard table and multiple large TVs broadcasting sport games. It feels like they're trying to cater to all audiences -- which is fine, because they're located in a hotel and that's how you capture more customers. However, if you're looking for a more relaxing vibe, you might want to look elsewhere, since it's entirely up to chance if you'll have a family with a screaming child halfway across the restaurant.

Note: I am not a part of their staff. I'm a customer who loves this place and can't stand letting this lady go on bad mouthing it and spread lies.

The music was extremely loud from the moment we walked in. We even joked with the bouncer that we probably wouldn't last long because of the volume. I went toward the booth area just trying to figure out where the DJ was so I could politely ask if it could be turned down a little. Instead, I was yelled at by the bartender, patronized in front of other guests, and told I needed to apologize, even though I was just trying to ask a simple question. Then the DJ proceeded to call me out and mock me in front of everyone for wanting the music quieter. I have never cried in a bar or club before, much less because of people I do not know who work there. It was humiliating and completely unnecessary. I was there with friends on vacation and ended up crying before we even finished our drinks. The only person who was kind was the bouncer, who helped calm things down. Staff should be trained to handle simple customer requests with basic professionalism and empathy. A guest asking about music volume should not be yelled at, mocked by the DJ, or embarrassed in front of the room. Clearer boundaries around the DJ booth and better communication from staff would also help prevent situations like this. Really disappointing experience. We left feeling upset, embarrassed, and completely unwelcome

Had a glass of wine and baby had watered down lemonade. Her drinks were put in plastic cups with covers and those horrible paper straws. Eyes always bigger than my stomach, we ordered: - Cornbread - when i grabbed it I thought would be super dense but really wasn't. I thought it was very corny and tasty. Lightly toasted. Honey drizzle which wasn't too sweet...or maybe I just ate the parts that didn't have. Baby ate almost 1.5 pieces and even liked the Jalapeno Butter that I just dabbed on her bread. She said wasn't spicy but think she just didn't have enough. - Bone Marrow - lit it on fire to burn off the alcohol. Pretty sure it ddin't get it all so I cut baby off once I realized it. Other than needing some salt, really good. Choke mushrooms on top. One half was scrawny, but hubs had the other half for leftovers and choke marrow. YUM. - Sunchoke and Brussels - YUM. Baby ate some but was not really thrilled about it. I loved it. - Scallop and Mushroom Risotto - YUM. Delish. Baby liked it too. So much leftovers of everything. Realized when we ate it for leftovers it was all pretty oily and needed a pinch of salt. But otherwise great. Staff really nice and helpful. Love that the place is spread out and open. Bathrooms are not assigned which I'm sure can get gross, but is great to not have to wait for just the women's. There is a big stall which was perf since baby is potty training and had to go #1 and #2! Only thing missing was a hook to hang my purse and her bag. Great dinner...but if anyone is listening...bring back the shrimp and grits!!!

The interior was beautiful with perfect lighting, ideal for a date night. The food and drinks were both excellent, and the service really tied everything together.
