EDIT: Now I'm getting cyber bullied by the staff on my Instagram. See pic. -- I had an absolutely horrible experience at Manifest. The music was extremely loud from the moment we walked in. We even joked with the bouncer that we probably wouldn't last long because of the volume. I went toward the booth area just trying to figure out where the DJ was so I could politely ask if it could be turned down a little. Instead, I was yelled at by the bartender, patronized in front of other guests, and told I needed to apologize, even though I was just trying to ask a simple question. Then the DJ proceeded to call me out and mock me in front of everyone for wanting the music quieter. I have never cried in a bar or club before, much less because of people I do not know who work there. It was humiliating and completely unnecessary. I was there with friends on vacation and ended up crying before we even finished our drinks. The only person who was kind was the bouncer, who helped calm things down. Staff should be trained to handle simple customer requests with basic professionalism and empathy. A guest asking about music volume should not be yelled at, mocked by the DJ, or embarrassed in front of the room. Clearer boundaries around the DJ booth and better communication from staff would also help prevent situations like this. Really disappointing experience. Manifest is a bit of a versatile space. For starters, it goes between a cafe, bar, and nightclub depending on the day and time. They do have some events throughout the week, including Pub Trivia and Karaoke on Thursday evenings, and live music and dj sessions during the weekend. I personally come here every Thursday for the Sporcle Pub Trivia at 6:30 PM because the vibes are just that good! Drinks are fantastic! Tyson the bartender does a fantastic job every time I come by. I highly recommend the espresso martinis as they use local coffee and you can't beat a $12 espresso martini. They also have a great variety of spirits and beers. As for food, their kitchen is closed at this time but they do allow outside food; Pizza Mamo and The Daley are both within a minute's walk from here, for example. Parking is typical for Chinatown; your options are street parking or municipal parking. They also have art pieces up from local artists that are on sale. This place is all about good vibes! And I love it! [Location] Manifest is in Chinatown so parking can be tricky and you have to be aware of your surroundings. Manifest is worth the trip downtown. This place is a chill cafe in the AM, and a trendy bar in the PM. I visited on a Friday night. There was a friendly security guard at the door who checked bags and IDs. Made me feel safe. Not sure if they have a restroom on-site, but I think they do. [Ambiance] The best kind of energy. The type that reminds your you're young and have so much to live for! Live music. Eccentric art on the walls. Christmas lights and beyond-cool bartenders. The staff is amazing. They make you feel welcomed and care for, but in a comfortable kind of way. Lots of places to sit but also room for people to stand&mingle or even dance. Be warned: This place can get loud, which can be fun. But may not be to everyone's tastes. [Drinks] I ordered an espresso martini and it was smooth and dangerous. I couldn't tell there was any alc in the drink! It was delicious and classy. Made me feel like a true adult. I was there after hours for the night club event. I purchased a round of alcohol and paid with my card, I literally cross out the tips section and gave the bartender $20 for $75 bill. Today upon checking my credit card statement, they charged me $92. This type of scam and cheating your customers are absolutely not tolerated. Breathe...then Manifest an escape from adulting. Tucked in downtown on S Hotel Street is The Manifest and stumbling along this place had piqued my curiosity as I've heard about this place which instantly manifested signs of interest. Walking in the industrial lofty vibe is quite stunning as the brick walls with bare floors to string lights and red lanterns as the Lunar New Year is approaching it give such a spacious chill vibe and as you make your way to the back the which I almost thought was an outdoor area is actually a plastic corrugated like material so the sun beams through creating a stunning natural light that just shines bright for yet another unique decor all under one roof. Everyone has chosen their own place and since I was just passing though for a break as downtown doesn't really have a place for that I was so pleasantly surprised how relaxing it was as soon as I entered and actually had to use the bathroom which was in the back was no issue. Grateful to wash up and relax I sat at the bar to see what they have to offer. Impressive drink menu with categories from House Cocktails, Featured Classics, Beer, Wine and yes Coffee. Many I've heard do come here for coffee as they use local Waialua beans as I scanned this section I noticed "Espresso Martini" (Vodka, Cynar, Espresso and Demerara) I just had to have and wow it was very delightfully light "tasting" this darling little drink packs a punch and got me "happy" pretty fast but what a stunning presentation! I needed something to pair with my drink and as I scanned a pretty decent sized menu filled with many bar type of snacks from Chips and Hurricane Popcorn to Wedge Salad, Housemade Meatballs to Bahn Mi which I decided to have Vegan Pesto Aioli Bahn Mi to be exact. A vegan veggie ball is topped with house made cucumber, red onion and Serrano pickles with vegan Mac nut pesto sprinkled with the load of cilantro all stuffed in a baguette. Short of stuffing it with too much cilantro for my personal preference this sammy was just a light and refreshing bite that perfectly compliments my drink. We didn't take advantage of the pool table because it was taken the whole night. The DJ was pretty good, we enjoyed some afrobeats to dance to. Bartenders super friendly. I recommend coming early if possible to avoid the door charge if you can help it. they start to take the stools away and the tables around 11pm I believe, that's when we started to dip. This was such a breath of fresh air from the touristy Waikiki crowd. Whenever I come to the islands, I always want to find a new spot that mostly locals enjoy. We were recommended this bar by some guys we met at the beach who had been living there for a few years, and we honestly loved it. We're from the Bay Area in CA, so when we heard the music we usually do and saw the younger crowd, we were in there like swimwear. What an odd night lol. I went here with some friends because we looked at some pictures online and saw there was a pool table and games. Let me just say sometimes a picture is NOT worth a thousand words. I mean if you love waiting in lines to play games, then this is the place for you. If you love not being able to bring drinks from one area to the next, then Manifest/Royal is perfect. They're conjoined though so idk why weren't able to bring drinks around, it's weird. I'll be leaving the same review for both places since they're literally connected. The place wasn't even all that busy when we were in and the security inside kept asking people to move against the wall? Likeeee we're on the dance floor and it's not even busy. The atmosphere of the place is a 10/10! It's very lively, and there is also a bar hidden in the back where you can also order drinks! They have a decent-sized dance floor, but there aren't many tables inside (which might be because of COVID restriction). The night that we went on was super packed! And the Dj was BLASTING the music! But it was such a vibe, and we all had a lot of fun! As for drinks, I normally don't order lemon drops, but oh my god, do they make the best ones. I remember one night I thought I would try something new, then get just a neat shot. So, I looked into a lemon drop because I like tart and sweet things. The bartenders whipped up the perfect ratio of lemon juice, simple syrup, and vodka. It didn't taste overly sweet or too overwhelming from the alcohol! It was the perfect balance of tart and sweet! I walked in looking for a nice place to chill at and this place seemed cool and they were having a comedy show with no cover so it seemed like a win win. My ID and CoVID proof was thoroughly checked at the door but I should've known something was off since it took her 3mins to find my DOB on my license check my back pack didn't see the knife but made me toss my water. I was seated right by the window as you enter the door. I sat there for 41mins yes FORTY ONE MINUTES and NO-ONE absolutely no one approached me to even offer water... I got up and left. The door lady was like the show is about to start I said I sat for 40mins and wasn't even offered a water this has been the worst t ice I've received in FOREVER!!! She and the guy agreed it was bad service yet neither apologized. This area is swarming with bars take your pick. I'd skip this one. read more

I rarely post reviews, but this venue is subpar. I encourage you to avoid this "club" because the "bouncers" at this venue are a joke. The bouncers are intentionally rough with patrons - They seem to enjoy pushing people out of the way rather than asking people to move out of the way (or by using a flashlight to indicate they would like to pass by - like any other club that operates in this decade). After I left the venue (because the floor was sticky), while waiting for my Uber, I saw a woman get thrown out of the venue into a street light pole - she was already leaving the venue while the bouncers threw her and laughed at her injury. Guys... you're at least double the size of this woman... do you really enjoy throwing people out that much? This is the worst venue I've ever visited - I encourage you to avoid Manifest Hawaii. read more

Manifest is a nice little bar close to Chinatown where you can grab a drink. When I went (April 2021), their happy hour was from 4-8pm, so you can drop by early and possibly beat any rush occurring later in the night. Service was great for my drinks, and they came out perfectly! Many years ago, I had what I remember was the best whiskey sour of my life and have since then been searching for a joint that can replicate that experience. I am happy to say I found that here! The whiskey sour was a perfect mix of sweetness and sourness without drowning out the taste whiskey. It's topped with a pillowy smooth shaken egg white that only makes it that much better. This review is for their happy hour (6pm-9pm daily) which includes $2 off menu cocktails, $1 off local beers and wine glasses. This place is a coffee shop during the day and a bar at night. I walked into a very nice space inside. I don't react much to the interiors of businesses but when I saw it I gave a little "ooh". I think it was a combination of the brick walls and the lights on top which gives a really cool vibe. My first drink was the empress me ($12) which was tart and only slightly sweet. There's a bit of that whiskey taste but overall it was a delicious drink! It really was one of the best cocktails I had during my trip here and I definitely gave the bartender the props for it. My second drink was the MF old fashioned ($15) which is cherry smoked. There's hints of sweetness and it's not overpowering or spirit forward. It was nice and balanced. Note that there's a $20 minimum on credit cards. Also, beware that the happy hour special does NOT apply to the MF old fashioned even though the happy hour says it's for all the menu cocktails. What a unique joint! We intended to stop by and enjoy their small-bites menu, but they were unfortunately closed so we went elsewhere nearby. We did come back the next day while walking around the area and stopped in for an espresso and cocktail. Their whiskey selection is absolutely bonkers. I've never seen a more complete collection of Irish whiskey in a non-Irish bar. I'd love to come to this place in the evening with music playing and people dancing. It's just such a unique vibe with all the exposed brick, the hanging plants, and the skylight above the dance floor. Originally I wanted to come here for the nightlife, but I didn't end up making it. I was surprised to discover they do morning beverages too! Stopped in real quick for a tea, and was surprised to see all the options they have available. The barista/bartender was knowledgeable and friendly. There's an ATM in a corner, some tables, and a bright clear skylight in the back that makes this place cozy mornings and nights. Hands down our favorite place to get drinks to-go! During COVID, they have done everything possible to keep people safe - you can order online, choose your pick up time, and do curbside pick up; or if you live downtown, order delivery! They deep cleaned the restaurant before reopening, and all the tables are more than 6 feet apart and allow for only small groups (maybe 3-4) to sit there at a time. Masks are required to enter, and there are 6 foot markers to show where to wait to be seated. I'm not vegetarian, but I love the lentil sandwich! The bourbon BBQ sliders are amazing too! Any of the sliders are great, really, especially with a drink. Pre-COVID, my coworkers and I would go to Manifest for the straight whiskies. Perfect downtown escape! If you're having a rough day, come down to Manifest for friendly service and a killer cocktail. I got the Pink Lady, and it was so refreshing and well-balanced. I came here last weekend. It was my first time visiting Hawaii and unfortunately I got my ID confiscated at the door because the bouncer said it was a fake ID (which it is not, I'm turning 27). I had to call 911 because they refused to give me my ID back. I ran into a couple of other people who were also over age and having the same exact problem. It honestly seemed like the police were annoyed as well. Their exact words were "Apparently the bouncers don't feel like doing their job tonight" I would like to point out that there was no actual validation of real or fake IDs. No scanner. Nothing they could do to prove it was fake other than a "feeling?". It was really jarring to have my drivers license confiscated because if I didn't call the police to get it back I would have no valid ID to drive and also fly back to the mainland. This has never happened to me before. I wouldn't encourage you to go here for a good time. This whole ordeal ruined my night. read more

I was there on professional business and was already reaching for my ID and I politely introduced myself to the bouncer that I booked there that evening. And in a Sarcastic Dry non eye contact response , I got " I Still have to see your ID. No official welcome and had an attitude like I was trying to avoid happily complying or we were at CCC and he was in corrections. Since I was on the clock I had ice coffee served in a clear capped TO GO container. We were stopped OUTSIDE after walking a few seconds, and we hear HEY by the same dry guard saying we can't leave with "that" He was about 20 feet from his post sitting and I found it dumb for 2 reasons. Have manners at least once ,address me with simple respect. He didn't get up just raised his voice to avoid politely walking and asking us a redundant question ( why have to go cups with liquor if they never do that) Chinatown is a tough area but I've visited McDonald's in Seattle with friendlier guards for the first impression.
