Came here for the Christmas pop-up bar and I was so pleasantly surprised! The entrance is cute, concept of ordering your drinks very fun and kitsch. I think the space is a little small. You're definitely squashed in tightly like a can of sardines. But it does seem cozy and intimate. Booking during holidays must be miserable, so glad I wasn't in charge of that ha ha ha! I thought the staff were very nice and sweet, and so was the manager so not sure about all the negative reviews. Maybe I had a good night? Weird eclectic crowd of patrons though. It was fun and didn't bother me so much! I loved the interior design of the bar space. Drinks were so fun and the food was a pleasant surprise! Steak over pickled red cabbage, nice large chunky pieces of mochiko chicken with a nice sauce, smoked fish dip with okinawan sweet potato chips, deep fried gyoza. I ordered a gingerbread mocktail (since I don't drink) and it was delicious! A spicy cream soda!! I thought the ceramic mugs were the cutest! Wish I had ordered more just to see the penguin and other mug designs lol. Price points are so high though *cry. This is not NYC or LA!!

This place is located in Downtown at the AC Marriott hotel on Bishop St. Valet parking is available for $15. The speakeasy is down the stairs before you enter the hotel. Although we had reservations, apparently there is a different system for the speakeasy. We got the main bar area. However, it was definitely a better area for us as we were able to see what the speakeasy looks like, and it is very small. Almost where you would only take another person does the tables look like therefore parties of two and maybe six parties total? It was definitely a cute Christmas theme though. Being in the bigger lounge area was more comfortable, albeit it is not a big lounge area. But we were definitely comfortable. The drinks were delicious as well as the food. We had great service as well. I will definitely come back if in the downtown area and not looking for a loud bar scene.

Christmas themed cups.. I'm a fan!

Stopped in for drinks with the girls and to experience the Christmas themed speakeasy. Things to know before you go- if you wish to sit in the speakeasy side of the bar then please ensure to select that area when you make your reservation. If not, you'll sit in the area by the bar. Not to worry, both spaces are equally awesome. We weren't too hungry but of course we had to try their food in addition to their drinks. We happily enjoyed: Taste of aloha- huli huli filet tips, karaage chicken bites, mandoo, ahi dip, and sweet potato chips. Great choice of you can't decide on which appetizer to order. All of these dishes were tasty and perfect with our drinks! Deviled eggs-crispy onion, chives salmon roe, and togarashi. Perfect dish if you're a deviled eggs lover. Drinks- oh pear tree and an old fashioned. Beautiful presentation and you can't really go wrong with any of the drinks on the menu. Great vibes, friendly servers and bartenders.. I'm a fan!

Heard whispers about a new speakeasy in town, so of course I had to grab a few friends and check it out. Speakeasies are pretty rare in Hawaii--I've been to a couple (RIP Blind Ox, still my fave... Gaslamp's holding it down though!)--but this one definitely stands out as one of the more interesting spots. I won't spoil the secret , but let's just say the entrance alone is part of the fun. Our server was awesome--super friendly, gave solid drink recs, and walked us through how to place our mysterious little orders. The apps were decent--classic bar bites, nothing crazy--but the drinks? Super fun. I loved the creative glassware--think jungle vibes, tiki mugs, maybe even a skull or two. The drinks weren't very strong though... which I'm pretty sure is by design so you keep ordering more. We made it through two rounds before our wallets tapped out. Giving 3 stars mainly because of a disappointing interaction with one of the bartenders (a female staff member). She had a noticeably snotty attitude toward my friend, which definitely affected our experience. Also, just a heads-up--parking is valet only, which can be a bit inconvenient depending on when you go. The place itself has potential, but a little more warmth and better service would've made a big difference.

    Cool bar

I've wanted to stop by Yours Truly in Chinatown for a while: I'm glad I finally did. We had a drink in the main bar, but there is also a speakeasy that you can make a res on Open Table. It is located below the newly opened AC Hotel. We had one of their sig drinks. It was pretty cool watching the bartender use a torch to give the drink a smoky flavor. They also have a good liquor selection if you want a basic drink. The bartenders are super chill and so is the ambiance. Yours Truly is a great place to go after dinner and chill. I look forward to returning.

Yours Truly is an absolute gem of a speakeasy in Honolulu and the kind of place you wish you had back home. The food is thoughtful, comforting, and quietly creative--executed with care and a clear sense of identity. The menu leans into familiar flavors done really well, with dishes that feel both elevated and approachable. Everything is balanced and satisfying without trying too hard, making it an easy spot to settle into whether you're grabbing a casual bite to go with your drinks or lingering over a longer meal. The cocktail program is a standout and clearly given just as much attention as the food. Drinks are imaginative, well-balanced, and beautifully presented, often served in custom-designed vessels that add personality and a sense of occasion to each order. The glassware feels intentional rather than flashy, enhancing the experience and making each cocktail feel unique. One of the most charming touches is the drink ordering system via the mailboxes, which adds a playful, interactive element. Dropping in your drink order feels fun and unexpected, and it pairs perfectly with the creative cocktails and their distinctive presentation. With a warm, inviting space, friendly and relaxed service, and a thoughtful approach to both food and drinks, Yours Truly delivers an experience that feels personal, memorable, and effortlessly cool. A must-visit in Honolulu.

$60 a glass of El Jolgorio from the Cortez family.

Yours Truly is located on the bottom level of the AC Hotel on Bishop Street. It's a cool addition to the area and an option to grab a drink. I came recently because I heard they had a variety of mezcals. It wasn't busy when I visited, but I opted to sit at the bar. I ordered a glass of the El Jorgorio, which I've been wanting to try. It's an expensive drink to have and all I wanted to do was enjoy it. The vibe of the bar was killed immediately by the bartender in dreads. He was extremely condescending to me and other patrons. Not only that but during my short visit, he dropped a couple of glasses on separate instances. As much as I wanted to sip my El Jorgorio, I ended up shooting it and leaving. I won't be returning.

Chinatown Choice. February drink special. Delicious

The bad reviews are SOOOO irrelevant. The staff was absolutely amazing. From the moment we walked in to the moment we left, we were treated the absolute best! The bar bites were delicious. Not much to choose from but we were really there for the vibes and the drinks. I loved that the hostess explained everything to us. I absolutely loved loved loved the speakeasy vibe. Despite being asked to move out to the main bar, everything was amazing! Would I go back again? Most definitely!! And I most definitely recommend if you're looking to explore Speakeasys

Yours Truly is located at the new AC Marriott Hotel in Downtown Honolulu (where the old Remington College was). The bar is located downstairs so not on street level. We made reservations a head of time for the speakeasy. Inside was very nicely decorated in traditional tiki bar vibes. I love all the details put into it the space. Inside only accommodates about 16 guests and they currently do not serve food in the Speakeasy. For the most part it's all self-service. They don't have a waitress or bartender inside. You order by filling out the post card on the table and you place it in your mailbox. Once your order is ready your mailbox light will turn green, then you have to go and pick it up from the mailbox. Overall, it's a cute concept. I totally see myself bringing friends or family visiting the islands here for fun. This would definitely not be like an everyday kind of place because the prices are a bit high, each drink ranged from $17-$21. However, I found myself ordering drinks just because of the cups it came in! I absolutely could not resist.

They have a mail theme throughout. You can even buy a bottle and they'll keep it for you in your own box.

What an amazing night out! First of all, I'm in LOVE with this new AC Hotel by Marriott!! Downtown HNL needed a hotel option for tourists who are tired of waiks and business people who don't want a long commute. And foodies! Chinatown is one of my favorite places for a night out... but I digress. Anyways, we went thru various layers of this hotel because we arrived an hour early for our reservation on a rainy Friday night. The staff at the Main Street level bar were really nice and they even bring you downstairs to show you were to find "yours truly". Pro-tip: just go downstairs yourself! They suggested we use the elevator to get there bc the stairs were wet and they didn't want us to fall (how sweet?!). Upstairs bar vibes were cozy with live chill acoustic music. We hung out in the lobby for a bit and the front desk staff were so nice. The bathrooms up there are GORGEOUS!! Then we made our way downstairs to Yours Truly and we're still 30 minutes early so we were seated in the truly yours main bar and I think the drinks were EXCEPTIONAL. I'm not easy to impress and if you're charging ~$20 per cocktail it better be wonderful. And these were!! The cocktail menu has a lot of unique and interesting flavors and options. I love that they have a few mezcal options so I ordered the Ail Mail. It had ube, Parmesan mezcal, egg whites and a bunch of other ingredients. Did I mention I love to order the weirdest thing on the menu?! My friends also got wonderful drinks, one even came with a fiery presentation! Unfortunately the video was trimmed by this app so you'll have to see it for yourself. Then it was time for our reservation and we were presented with a key and instructions and there were mailboxes involved. I won't spoil the surprises... I'll just say I loved how they had the letter/ postal theme throughout! Well played yours truly!! The inside speakeasy bar is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT than the outside bar. Our party of 4 tried 4 different drinks and we hated them all. They were really artificially sweet and flavors didn't really work BUT they serve them in cool glasses and it's more about the experience. They also have a fun Photo Booth and decor is quirky and kitschy. Overall I think this place is a fabulous addition to the downtown/ chinatown scene!

We had such a fun experience. Glad we came to try the holiday drinks. If you like strong drinks then get the North Pole potion. Pupus were the perfect starts for our night out. Ordering was fun. Mark the postcard and place and in the mailbox, then pick up drinks from the box when made.

    Horrible experience.

PATRONS BEWARE. Despite reading the negative reviews, we went anyway... being the only Christmas speakeasy we haven't checked off the list. It lived up to the lowest expectation. First red flag... Waited 11 min at the "please wait to be seated" sign with only glances from the bartenders and no acknowledgement that we would be attended to, even as he walked right passed to speak to 1 of the 3 patrons in the bar at the time. Second red flag... One of the couples seated got up and said, "I don't want my drink anymore, cancel it." (Could they also be frustrated with the wait time?) Third and final red flag... I asked the group that was exiting if it was fun inside & they half-way smiled with no teeth and did a one shoulder shrug while saying, "eh- it's small." When Derick finally came to us asking for our reservation... it turns out- that we needed to reserve not the first, nor the second, but the 3rd area on OpenTable... so we were irritatedly SOL. Got festively dressed up and drove all the way out here for nothing.

Service 1000% this crew is amazing! They MAKE the ambiance -- okay the mailroom theme helps too but still. The team is so good, super friendly, super on it. No food but they got a bit of bar snack if you ask for it - I think some wasabi peas etc. little munchies. The cocktails are so, so good -- gotta try them all, because you gotta know how they taste! And the presentation? Chef's kiss. People who were here opening night were THE BOMB too, good vibes all around!

Return to Sender. Smoky, smooth, spirit forward cocktail - old fashioned style

To my surprise, on a Sunday evening after having dinner nearby at Maze, my wife and I walked over to Bar Leather Apron and we were able to get seated right away! In fact, around 7:30 p.m. when we stopped by, there was actually a ton of seating available in the bar. Who would've guessed. If you're in the same boat as me and are unable to find a reservation for your upcoming visit, I would encourage you to stop by and try a walk-in. The first page of the menu lists a wide variety of whiskey based cocktails. Most -- if not all, of the cocktails are pre-fixed with BLA (Bar Leather Apron), and represent a collaboration with the named distillery. If you're fan of whiskey, you'll definitely have a difficult time picking only one. I ultimately ordered their "Take Warning" -- 2021 BLA Knob Creek BLA Single Barrel, Cynar, Carpano Antica, Mezcal, Bergamot Salt. Drinks here are not cheap -- averaging $20 to $25 per drink. Although my drink was very spirit forward, it still felt very well balanced. I appreciated the hint of smokiness from the mezcal that rounded out the end of a sip. Service here quick and friendly. When we received the check, a cute small chocolate snack was brought over as well, borrowed from the menu at Maze. Overall, I can see why Bar Leather Apron has earned so many accolades in its field. Definitely worth a stop by if you enjoy the art of mixology.

That's a shame because it has the potential to be very good. When you start with a cocktail concept that is deliberately kept low key with no signage, and a drink menu that rotates and evolves, you have a pretty good floor to start. Having a cozy place to settle in and being able to enjoy food from Chris Kajioka should give 430 Pkwy a high ceiling. If you like an espresso martini try something a little different. Their Espressing My Love batches espresso with Averna, black walnut bitters, and a unique monkeypod syrup. Unfortunately, there is no espresso machine so you cannot get fresh drawn espresso to make a Carajillo the way Cafe Miro use to. The ahi brioche is a carry over from all Chris Kajioka places. The grilled cheese is excellent. Hotdogs are kicked up - it used to be a black truffled miso chicken sausage but the current one is a little different. The problem is the food preparation totally undermines the whole place. Without a separate kitchen you have frying being done just a few feet away from where cocktails are made. If you sit on the right side of the bar you will quickly understand why this doesn't work. I would come here more frequently if i didn't have to smell like cooking oil afterwards. Fix that problem and this place would rock.

Therefore I believe that there are still kinks to be made with their reservation system. We waited at the bar until it was sorted out. You walk through a whiskey wall and walk upstairs to the speakeasy. They used a lot of the decor from the former location known as Harry's Emporium. We were the only ones for about an hour so we were able to maximize the bartender's time. Max is an excellent bartender and informed us that they are only open on the weekends for now. He's the only bartender and they are still working out staffing issues. No food at the moment. The theme is New Orleans/French. The drinks and music all have that vibe. The room is dim but not too dark. We left around 7:30 PM when two other couples showed up. We will definitely be returning.

Best to make reservations, especially later in the night. Got lucky and sat at the bar…read more Food was good. I got the burger and mushrooms appetizer. Drinks were tasty. Well made. There's a speakeasy inside the restaurant. Hostess said it's by reservation only and these no food.
