My friend and I decided to revisit Amuse Wine, a place we used to love back in college and when we landed our first jobs. We had so many great memories here, and the food and wine selection were always top-notch. Naturally, we were excited to return. When we arrived at 6 PM on a Friday, the restaurant was completely empty, which felt unusual. We thought maybe the crowd shows up later, but by the time we left, no one else had come in. Looking at the menu, we were disappointed to see that many of our favorites were gone--the small burger sliders, charcuterie board, and truffle fries were all missing. We ordered the ahi dynamite, but it tasted different from what we remembered--almost like it wasn't fresh. The presentation was still great, but the flavor was off. The wine, however, was just as good as always. For a $100+ bill, the food did not live up to expectations. When I asked if they'd bring back the old menu, the staff mentioned some items are available during happy hour (Monday-Thursday), but I'd honestly be happy to pay full price if they just brought them back permanently. I'm not sure why since the shareable food options were delicious and very reasonably priced. We came here on a Saturday night and surprisingly, there's not too many people. They were able to seat us earlier than our reservation time too. The ambiance is really intimate and elegant and the service was really quick. They made sure we're good and constantly check up on us. We got the wine tab where we can pick from a variety of wines using a card. It'll give you about 1 oz each, but you get to try a tons of wine! Some of the wines didn't taste the best, but it was a lot of fun trying them! We didn't have a chance to try their food, but we tried out their burnt tiramisu and man, it was delicious! A middle of the week (Wednesday) experience. We were one of 2 tables in the whole restaurant. Our server was very attentive and prompt with service! The wine dispenser had malfunction issues and is not recommended for wine lovers. Besides "measuring each drop of wine", the walk to the dispenser can be a deterrent. Our kalua pig bao buns made up for the wine dispenser challenge. My friends and I stopped by Amuse for a little girls' night and it did not disappoint! So fun to pour our own by the oz glasses and sample a bunch of different white and red wines at our leisure. The bar staff were incredibly friendly and explained the menu and "wine modules" to us as newbies, and were kind to check in with us every now and then in case we had questions. It's been a minute (10 years+) since I've been to Amuse, fortunately the staff there was able to reactivate my wine card that still had a balance of $18 from all those years ago to give us a head start. Love the concept where you load $$ onto your Amuse card and then are able to self serve yourself a large variety of wines at different price points. Pours are in one ounce increments which allow one to taste a wide array of vino from the different regions. The Great: The large selection of wines is the obvious draw but Amuse also has a nice selection of very well prepared dishes to enjoy with your wine. This evening we enjoyed a nice charcuterie platter, salmon tataki, patatas bravas, and finished with the Kula Lavender Tres Leches Cake. Service is always fantastic and their crew do an awesome job. The Good: Besides the self serve wine islands, you can also order flights and pours by the glass. They also offer several unique cocktails and offer a full bar. The Okay: Large seating area filled with lot of high top seating options which make it a great spot for groups. We do like to sit in a nice comfy booth so wish there were some available. Overall: Located within the Inspiration Design store, this location offers easy access and lots of free parking. I was too busy trying different wines and didn't stay at the table much, totally destroying the cool chill atmosphere of the place. The food was great. We only had Salmon Tataki as we went to the Stage Restaurant that is adjacent to this bar to have dinner. But since it comes from the same kitchen, I'm sure the rest of the food items are wonderful as well. The portion is very small, though. The wines were great but they could be very expensive. I tried a few $4.75 per ounce wines and those were definitely better than cheaper ones, though I understand the price doesn't always equal to the taste and quality. Parking is easy if needed at the inspiration furniture store parking and just take the elevator inside the store to the second floor. The ambiance is great and it's usually not too loud enabling great conversations. The seating is consists of nice comfortable chairs and tables like a home living room or at a long solid granite bar. Though the bar stools are not the most comfortable ones. A friend of mine and I had a bottle of Italian red and their daily special anchovy brochette which was very good but you must like anchovies. My sister lives in the building that Amuse Wine Bar is in and I have been wanting to try it because all of the wine on "tap" looks like so much fun. According to their website Amuse "features an innovative wine preservation and serving system which allows us to offer wines from around the world with the flexibility to do tasting portions of a rotating selection of over 60 different wines". It's like a self-serve wine tasting experience but even better. It's so cool to have so many wines that you can try and it's instant gratification (think, all you can drink wine buffet) - no waiting for someone to help you. Can I give this 6 stars? Had a Fabulous (with a capital F!) NYE 4 course dinner. Food/drinks: Best meal I've had in a while! We enjoyed an amuse bouche, lobster and purée 1st course, Chilean sea bass 2nd course, peach yuzu sorbet pallet cleanser, lamb lollipop 3rd course, ice cream and vanilla meringue 4th course, and a little chocolate and nut nibble to end. They did an incredible job of portioning enough but not too much; I was too stuffed to finish dessert but felt very satisfied. We opted to do our own drink selections and I enjoyed a glass of champagne, the yuzu sake cocktail (very refreshing), and the sweet tooth dessert wine flight (it's pretty sweet). The best part of the food (besides everything being fresh)?! They made very thing gluten free and dairy free for me, and accommodated all my dietary restrictions. I mean, wow! Service: Fantastic. Very attentive host. Changed out our used silverware each course. Explained everything to a t. My only complaint would be that I felt a tad rushed. We did arrive a little late so I think they were trying to keep us to a certain time so they could close. Ambiance: Love! My friends and I visited this place for a girls night out. It was the weekend and this place was great to unwind ourselves with wine and tasty small plates. Charcuterie plate: This plate has two different crackers, three different cured meats, we ordered just brie cheese, and grapes. This goes great with wine. Truffle fries: The fries were crispy and addicting. The garlic herb butter was flavorful. I wished there were more garlic on the fries. Escargot: Very good dish. Good amount of snails and mushrooms. The garlic butter sauce and red wine demi glacé made this dish shine. Cauliflower purée was tasteless however. Ahi dynamite: Our favorite go-to dish every time we visit Amuse and Stage. Their dynamite sauce is amazing. Grilled New York steak: This dish was amazing. Their truffle garlic soy sauce was the star of this dish. Stage sliders: The sliders were good. There were 3 sliders. The patty was very flavorful. This dish would be better if they added some greens or grilled onions in the sliders. It's just cheese and patty. Lilikoi creamsicle: I love this dessert. There was the right amount of vanilla ice cream and lilikoi sorbet. Both compliments well together and it wasn't overly sweet nor sour. The strawberry purée was delicious. It would be great if they added more of it. The downside, however, was the shortbread crust. It was very bland and hard that my fork could not break through. Birbet red wine: This red wine was good. Went for happy hour with a few friends. I made a reservation easily on Open Table and they accommodated some last minute changes when I wanted to add an extra person. HH is from 5-6 pm and we arrived around 5:40 to enjoy the last rounds of HH. The bar is located inside Inspiration furniture store. Park in the same lot and head to the 2nd floor. We were seated quickly and our waiter made sure to get in a few drink rounds before HH prices ended. The drinks were $7 house wine (red, white, sparkling), a $10 cocktail which was a Sangria when we went, and $5 beer (one option). After HH the drink prices aren't too bad and they do offer wine flights and craft cocktails. Although the selection is small, HH pricing is reasonable and the drinks were great. We also ordered some bites from their menu to share - truffle fries, patatas bravas, and pizzas. The truffle fries were more like garlic fries - although I'm not complaining because how can you go wrong with fries - I wish it had more of a truffle element to it. The patatas bravas is served with bonito flakes, ao nori, mayo - kind of like the toppings of takoyaki but on top of potatoes. It was an interesting twist and definitely not what I was thinking when we ordered it! It is a good dish to share and for everyone to try. We also had the truffle mushroom pizza and italian meat pizza. They are served like flatbread style cut into slices. The truffle mushroom pizza did have a nice subtle truffle taste and of course meat pizza was great - you can't go wrong with it. For dessert, we tried the tres leches and a banana dish. These were very unique desserts. The tres leches came with a lavender cream topping and blueberries. Also the presentation of the desserts were top notch - def try at least one of them! The food portions were a bit on the smaller side - between seven people, we ordered two of the fries and potatoes and one each of the different pizzas. Another tardy review ....but had to write one! Been wanting to eat here for a while now and I finally did. Had a daytime conference on a weekday at the Stage Restaurant (yes, there is a large up stairs area if you're interested in a venue ...can seat 100 people comfortably), then afterwards, had to do some follow-on meetings, so we decided park ourselves on one of those tables just outside the dining area adjacent to the wine bar. They were flexible in that the wine bar was not open yet, but they were able to serve us if we ordered bottles, which we happily did. The selections were varied and by giving some examples of what we liked to drink and our price range, they made some great recommendations that we liked! Then afterwards some of us decided to dine there, and despite not having reservations, they were able to accommodate us. It started pretty empty since we were the first seating, but by the time we were finished, the room did get somewhat busy for a Thursday night I thought. Bar area was pretty busy at 8:30 is PM as we were leaving! Kind of an upscale place. Food was great! I ordered mainly appetizers and I thought the escargot was one of the better ones I've eaten. Not overloaded with butter and garlic like other places! Just the right balance of seasoning with a bit of bread. I enjoyed my wine, the company I was with, the aesthetics of the business and the food! I would've given it a 5-star but I find that customer service seemed a little slow for not having much people. I took a couple of friends and my man to Amuse for happy hour on a Friday night. They have something like 80 wines on tap at varying process per ounce. They tend to be wines you've never heard of, or I haven't anyway, so it was really fun to just try things. Happy hour is the only way to start. The cards are $30 with a $50 balance which is kind of a big deal because at $2 to $9 per ounce, this can get expensive really fast. Go in, buy or recharge your card then order some of their yummy happy hour appetizers. We shared garlic truffle fries with the table. They're not fried separately, but also not battered, so they didn't bother my stomach. Three of us ordered the steak tacos special. They were small but really delicious. Then we had to order dessert because our server told us something about the chef being some sort of award winning dessert creator. Let me tell you, at $16 for a dessert, it had better be damn good. I chose the lilikoi creamsicle which our server assured me was gluten free. It came out and was absolutely gorgeous, presented almost like sushi. I felt bad eating it, but I persevered because it was spectacular. Service was friendly, engaged and super helpful. Our server went back to the kitchen at least 3 times to verify things were gluten free for us. I was impressed. He also showed us his favorite wines and why. None of it was pretentious or snobbish, more eager to share something he was excited about. Way cool. I love the chic ambiance of the place. We love red wine, preferably a bold Zinfandel or a Cabernet. There were about 2 wines from California but we seriously could not tolerate ALL OF THEM. We had to pour them down as we could not tolerate even to drink an ounce of it. Majority of them, I've never even heard of and I'm an avid wine drinker. One bottle was even from Lebanon... what in the world? Why can't they at least have a variety of very good quality wine with some cheap wines mixed in? Who's ordering these wines? As for the food, we took advantage of the happy hour items. Had the truffle fries and they were just too soaked with oil. I'm not sure if it was because of the cheese on top or not. I did not enjoy eating those at all. Plus the cheese plate we ordered was really small. What's even more of a bummer is that you can't use the card to order food. You could only use the card for the drinks from the dispenser. There was a California wine that we were interested in from the menu and when we asked where we could find it on the dispenser, they said we had to order it from the bar. Since this wine was from Sonoma County, I thought, "okay, lets order it with the card." -No, you cannot use your card to order wine from the menu. ONLY FROM THE DISPENSERS. This place is not worth it if you know good, quality wine and definitely a rip off for the price they charge on those dispensers. Will not be returning ever again. I'm giving the extra star because the service is great here. The servers all had good personalities... it's just too bad the wine's so horrible. read more

Can I just say how the dessert here always blows me away! This is legit my favorite place to recommend to friends visiting the island and looking for a fun spot to enjoy light dinner and drinks all night. We ordered the lilikoi creamsicle and it was very refreshing. I'm always hesitant of lilikoi being too tart, but this was done so very well. The cookie crust has a great texture as well, not too crumbly. read more

Located in Inspiration along Kapiolani Blvd. Very easy to find and parking is free. The atmosphere is great and works have always been nice & helpful with wine information. Love this place because they have a self serve wine area, though UPDATE recently due to Covid they had go close it...which is unfair because other places are still able to do self serve. Anyways, they do have a nice substitution for that with their wine flight. They have 5 options to choose from & is priced pretty well. A nice sampler option. I've always loved their foods. Brussels are always amazing & stays crispy, with great flavor. I could honestly just order that all night as my main food. Then who doesn't like truffle fries as a go to finger food. read more
