I ordered the Cheeky Monkey and it was exactly what I wanted: sweet, warm, and fun -- and the banana-pineapple-coconut foam on top was such a nice touch that made each subsequent sip enjoyable. This is the place to go for craft cocktails. The lavender-infused vodka Moscow mule was refreshing and perfectly balanced, and the espresso martini was smooth, rich, and well executed. Debbie D and I were the first ones there and we had to come in through the back because the manager who had the key to the front had not arrived yet. All good! Stopped in for a quick drink around 5ish on a Wednesday before our dinner reservation nearby. It was happy hour at that time (Wed-Sat, 5 to 7). They have some cocktails for $12, wines for $14, beer for $5-$6, and discounted bar snacks. There was something called "cocktail of the day" as a part of the happy hour menu, which I don't think they really set because when we asked the bartended about it, she said she could just make us whatever we liked. So she asked what our liquor of choice was (whiskey) and if we liked more sweet/sour/strong. My husband and I each told her our preferences and she expertly made us each two very different drinks that we both enjoyed. You could tell she was a bartended who was actually good at her job, and not one just pouring alcohol. Let me preface this my saying that we did not purchase anything on our visit. This review is strictly to compliment the service from the bartender/server Maya! We stopped by hoping for some good music to dance to after a work Christmas party on a Thursday night. However, the place was nearly empty and she told us that the DJ had cancelled. I have passed on weekends and know it gets busy. We didn't order food as we already ate. The server was unclear as to the special was which I thought odd as patrons would want to know. She did though, try to describe it. The mixologist came by and offered us a drink that he just made (the navy swizzle which was go) and we thought that was nice. I swear, this place has the best craft cocktails in the state... I take all my friends and visitor's here after my yoga or dance classes! The bartenders there are knowledgeable and seem to love what they do. It's fun to talk story with them and get suggestions on new spirit concoctions. We ordered the punch bowl, which was shareable among 4-6 people. The large bowl is priced at $110, but split amongst 6 people it's roughly $18, which is definitely worth the price - very comparable to singular cocktail drinks. When I was there, they had a live band. It wasn't too busy, so the vibes were very casual, but it was the chill night that we needed after arriving from our long flights. We came back tonight after a few years away from Bevy, which used to be our favorite neighborhood spot. We won't be back. First we were served rotten oysters, which they took back and confirmed were spoiled. They took the oysters off the bill thank goodness, but offered 10% off our drinks as a comp (we had one martini each). Then we tried to use a gift card and they told us they no longer accepted gift cards and didn't have a system for old gift cards, so we were just out of luck. Serving someone rotten oysters and then not even comping 1 out of 2 drinks AND refusing to accept a gift card to the same restaurant bc of a "new system" is a new low for what used to be a neighborhood hotspot. The owner happened to swing by tonight, and man do I wish he stayed for a little longer... he has an elite team of workers under him, and he deserves to be happy about that. Each one of them deserves a raise, I've seen some careless "tips" all around the bar. They have incredible teamwork and they know what to do without supervision. The service here was awful, but the food was good. I wanted to make reservations for a Wednesday evening for a party of around ten people. Their website says to text a number, which I did the Friday before. They called back later that night, but I missed that call. The days leading up to the reservation, I called at least three times to try and confirm the reservation, but they did not get back to me. Luckily, on the day of the reservation, the restaurant was completely empty, and they were able to accommodate our group. I ordered the shawarma tacos with the lamb and falafel. Food was delicious because it was from Doner Shack. The reason for my low rating is what happened when we were paying for our food. The waitress offered to ring us up separately because the restaurant was completely empty. We decided that this would be best for us, so she walked around the table with her handheld device. When it came to me, she confirmed what I ordered and asked for my card. I handed her my card and she tapped it for me. What a mistake. She didn't confirm the amount, and THERE WAS A 20% TIP THAT WAS AUTOMATICALLY ADDED. I only realized this when she gave the device back to me to sign, and there was suggested tip amounts of 3, 5, and 7%. I was wondering why it was so low and then realized it was because there was already a tip added. Too late to do anything about it. She did not mention the automatic 20% to anyone in my party. And there is no mention of an automatic gratuity for large parties. This was just greedy and rude, and I will never be coming back here. Also, just a friendly reminder that when you are dining out to always check your bill. This is not the only place I've been to that has added on charges that were not fully transparent. read more

It was citrusy and perfectly boozy. The only thing is there was more ice than punch. I ordered the smoked salmon. It was not my favorite. I felt bad to send the plate back and the waitress made me feel uncomfortable by asking everyone at the table if they wanted it... when I had already asked them... she then proceeded to say "Just eat it". After that interaction it felt like she was avoiding our table. I waited a bit and decided to order carne asada tacos. Which I enjoyed. The flavor was good. A friend ordered the steak which was delicious. The steak had a nice rub and was very tender. The pickles were also very delicious. I wish I had ordered this for me! My wife had the carnita tacos. She said they were good and juicy, not greasy. Another friend ordered the birria tacos. She was satisfied but had had better birria and elsewhere. We arrived a little after happy hour started and for a Friday night it wasn't busy! To eat, I had the Happy Hour Tacos, which comes with three tacos and your choice of protein. I ordered the Carnita, Chicken, and Califlower tacos. They also offer Carne Asada and Baja Fish at an additional charge. The tacos also come with your choice of salsa on the side, ranging from mild, medium, and spicy. Out of the three tacos, the Califlower Taco was my favorite. It was my first time trying a cauliflower-based taco, which was superb! The Carnita and Chicken Tacos were good but the meat was a little oily. I found the tortillas to be small, soggy, and all of them broke easily. Although, one thing that I liked was how all three tacos were piled high with protein and toppings! My coworker ordered the Crispy Brussels and Empanadas. They enjoyed their food and often frequent this establishment. Nowadays, it's hard to find places that offer reasonably priced happy hour deals on Friday and Saturday nights. The chic yet casual restaurant is conveniently located in SALT Kakaako. They offer seating both outdoors, which is open and casual, as well as indoors, which gives off more of a dimmer and lively ambiance. Service is good, vaccination cards are checked, and parking can be validated for the structure. Bevy is worth a visit for their happy hour items but it wouldn't be my first choice to dine at if it were during their regular hours. read more

This review is for weekend night drinks. Tl;dr: DJ, club vibe but too small to truly be one, decent but not great drinks. Good for going out with friends to dance, not the right place for conversations. Came with a friend and we were gonna go for the small punch bowl (recommended for 2-3 people). Bartender told us even the small size was proven to be challenging for two to finish. We appreciated that tip and promptly switched to individual cocktails. My issues with cocktails on Oahu which isn't unique to Bevy, is that everything is made too sweet. I'm not a fan of sweet cocktails so I stick to the dry ones, but even the seemingly dry drinks (based on ingredients) come out pretty sweet. I haven't had many well balanced cocktails on the island and Bevy wasn't an exception. Nice place for pau hana. I went here on a Tuesday evening for pupus and drinks. Gather around folks and have a seat, I will breakdown the experience for you. First, the food and drinks were very good! I had a Pimm's #5 Cup. It was a mixed drink that contained whiskey. It was very good! For food I had the NY steak, crispy pork belly, and mahi mahi tacos. The steak was thinly sliced and cooked perfectly! It had a nicely seasoned "crust" cooked on it and the inside was perfectly pink. It comes with two sauces and a few very thinly sliced cucumbers-- it's perfect for sharing. The crispy pork belly was also very good. It comes with caramelized onions and a little bit of wonbok cabbage. The caramelized onions go really well with the steak if you order these two items. The order of tacos comes with 3 soft shell street tacos. They had red cabbage and mango salsa on them. They are super generous with ingredients, so you will need to eat like half of the filling with a chopstick or fork before you can properly pick up the taco. Second, the service was excellent! Our server (her name was Keelie, I believe) was outstanding! She was very friendly and attentive and recommended my drink which I thoroughly enjoyed. The hostess at the front was polite and friendly as well. The wait at about 5:30pm on a Tuesday was about 40 minutes. Third, the experience was nice. It was a little bit loud with the live music, but the music was good and it would really depend where you sit for the volume. I was seated inside near the stage, so it was in the loud section. There were also some seats outside that may not have been able to hear the live music at all. Lastly, parking was convenient in the Salt parking structure. With validation, parking was $2. This place is a cool, hip, and fun spot with a wonderful selection of food and drinks. I will definitely be back for more after work shenanigans. read more

Did they expect one person to just eat it? We had to remove the kernels ourselves for everyone to share. The whole experience of ordering a lot with a small table and trying to take off the kernels of the corn was really uncomfortable. COVID review: Visited Bevy last night for their happy hour. They open at 5pm. Some sites I saw had them opening at 4pm. Maybe pre-covid? Now it is 5pm. Bevy has a really cool vibe to me. I feel like its a place you want to go to get a super fun mixed cocktail by some really cool guys. We were the first ones there and when we left at around 9pm, there were only 5 others in the restaurant. They have their tables nicely spaced apart for social distancing and all of the workers had their masks on the entire time. Drinks: I chose the happy hour prosecco, $7 ($10 non happy hour price) for a nice full glass and it was very tasty! My friend just got Corona and they were $5 each. ($6 non happy hour price) Food: We started with the Chips and salsa and guacamole. We couldn't decide if we wanted chips/salsa or chips/guacamole- No need to choose! Just get one of them and they will do a small upcharge and bring you a nice big bowl of both salsa and guacamole. ($10 happy hour price) We also got their "Ploughman" which is their charcuterie board. This board was VERY good. From truffle cheeses to the meat selections to their housemade pickles.. everything on the board was great. The best part is they give you a side plate of toasty garlic bread to go with it. Nice touch! ($24.00) For two of us, easily was our meal. Three people it is enough for a good size pupu for each one. I will say this.... the person next to us got their pasta dish and that..oh my... that smelled like heaven!!!! Our mouths were just watering. I definitely will try that the next time! Parking: This was the only UGH of the night. You would think that buildings would waive parking fees to try and get more people to visit the local retailers and restaurants, not so at Salt. With validation, it still was $9. I know there is street parking around the area but police are very strict with enforcing so you need to make sure you know when your meter will run out.
