Bevy, we met in November 2014.
Ah, we remember it well.

Ah, we remember it well.
Since then, SALT At Our Kaka'ako developed around Bevy as this cocktail bar continues to draw residents and visitors in along with its neighbors, Village Bottle & Tasting Room and Moku Kitchen. Bevy is a regular part of SALT's Bar or Beer Crawl as they serve up craft cocktails and beers.
Bevy is located right at the corner of Keawe and Auahi Streets. There is validated parking in the SALT At Our Kaka'ako Parking structure or you might be able to find metered street parking (after 6PM, it's FREE).
We enjoy their Happy Hour (4-7PM) and their diverse menu. Our recent visit here was because we signed up for SALT's Bar Crawl and enlisted a couple of good friends to join us. As we walked up to the entry, we all noticed their featured cocktail "Watermelon Margarita" but focused on the Beer Crawl Event.
As soon as we entered this dimly lit bar with its somewhat industrial-look and we were greeted by Lindsey. He said it was open seating so we meandered to a high-top nearest to the bar. Lindsey returned with menus (beverages and HH small plates) and explained Bar/Beer Crawl selections. Knowing that there were 3 participating establishments, we tempered our orders as Bevy was our first stop.
BEER:
- Lanikai Brewing Dragonkine Saison w/Dragonfruit: pale ale with light fruit flavor. Um, IMHO, dragonfruit doesn't seem to have a particularly sweet flavor and is sort of bland. This ale was also low-alcohol which was a good start to our evening.
FOOD:
-Oysters on the half shell: Fresh, clean-tasting and very plump oysters were served on an iced platter with a ramekin of mignonette. I thought the mignonette was sort of bland but maybe it was because these oysters were really plump and huge. We slurped them and it required at least 2 to 3 chews to aerate the oyster in our mouths before swallowing. Not sure of these oysters' origin but they were sweet and luscious. $1.50/oyster at HH.
-Fried Calamari with aïoli: deep-fried, golden brown and delicious crisp crusted tentacles and body rings were served with lemon and a dash of smoky paprika. The calamari was fried perfectly as each piece's crust crackled upon bite which exposed tender and well-seasoned squid. It was a great accompaniment to our beers/ales. $8 Happy Hour
-Padron aka shishito peppers blistered with black vinegar served with buttermilk aïoli: These blistered peppers were tender, not-too spicy and were easy to eat like popping in popcorn. A light squeeze of fresh lemon juice added a nice zing or freshness. $8 Happy Hour
-Patata Puffs: fried crisp potato croquette balls mixed with Parmesan, Béchamel and herbs. These fried potato-cheese balls were served hot from the fryer on a pool of Béchamel. We had our thoughts set on melted or gooey cheese in its center but alas, these balls had its flavors mixed in to its structure. It was okay but I don't think that we'd order them again. $8 Happy Hour
-Give Us Your Daily Pasta: Carbonara was the sauce of the day. The pasta was served al dente and its ethereal creaminess from the eggs was balanced by the addition of salty-smoky bacon. The portion was large enough to share.
There are more and other delicious menu items to try and we're not shy about trying them. Bevy is just one of those cocktail bars that is casual, serves up delicious food and drink and has great service. Truly a wonderful Pau Hana stop or just sharing the evening with friends. read more
