The Irish Rose Saloon is a no-frills Irish pub away from Waikiki's main drag. Located on the second floor it has a dance floor, a stage, and dart boards. They have live music every day at 9pm with no cover and currently open at 6am on Sundays. They have $5 mai tais everyday and daily happy hour until 7pm with $4.25 wells. Cash is preferred as there is a 3.75% fee for credit cards. It was pretty much empty when I came here and the bartender Dean was great! He gave me a list of recommendations in the Waikiki area and we passed a slow morning by playing some trivia with other patrons. It was a fun place with a local crowd and a casual vibe.

    Great band!

Went for a cocktail and loved it! Hidden gem that a lot of the locals go to. Drinks are great price, staff is very friendly and attentive. They had a band that played great music. Recommend!

I had this place bookmarked prior to visiting Hawaii. I always try to explore new areas that involve good reviews, relaxed atmospheres, not super expensive, and not far off the beaten path. Irish Rose Saloon is one of those places. We walked there later in the evening so it was kind of difficult to find. I was on Google Maps while walking, in case we were not paying attention. We finally arrived and it was like a little obstacle getting there because I seem to remember walking upstairs to get there. I am not sure if the downstairs was connected or a different business. Where we were though, had a massive space and a stage for musicians. We decided we wanted to sit at the bar and luckily found 2 seats right as people were leaving. It took some time for the bartender to greet us and we ordered some draft beers. I really do enjoy environments like this. There was live music on the stage. People were dancing, singing, and you know-doing people things lol. We enjoy people watching and actually had some laughs because there was a guy in there who looked like Garth in Wayne's World. We did not spend too much time here but the vibe was great. The prices were reasonable as well.

Even when they had like 15 customers and 2 bartenders it was tough to get a beer. Seemed to snub tourists. Spent to much time on their phones.

What kind of band is KaiRoots?

    90'2 rock covers!

    Where do we park?

There is street parking along Hobron Lane, a parking garage at 444 Hobron Lane (Eaton Square Garage), or a small outdoor public parking lot at 444 Ena Road. Parking in this area is a bit of a premium and most people opt for walking over.

Do you televise live Premier League football?

Yes, they sell cigars and will give you s cutter and a ashtray with it.

    Can I smoke cigars here?

It is illegal to smoke in any establishment with a full or partial roof and you have to be 20' from any entrance. If HPD finds anyone, they get a court summons which usually ends with a $50 fine.… Read more

JJ was also the mastermind behind Dolan's famous pizza...the hook they devised to distinguish their Irish pub from that of their former boss and fellow Irishman, Don Murphy, owner of Murphy's across the street from Black Shamrock. When an opportunity to take over the former O'Toole's location opened up, JJ jumped at the chance, and split from Dolan's to hang his own shingle, now known as Black Shamrock. JJ bought his pizza expertise with him, and in my opinion, is now the best pie in town...plus his Duck drumsticks can't be missed, which aren't available at Dolan's. JJ, Danny Dolan, and Don Murphy are all still friends, so have no worries, Chinatown is still the place to go for St. Patrick's day because they're still joining together to sponsor the annual festivities...and of course Murphy's is still the place to go if you're looking for Corned Beef or Shepherd's Pie downed with Guinness...but if it's a New York slice you're looking for, there's no need to go up to Bethel anymore, just stumble across the street to Black Shamrock.

The turkey was exceptionally tender, flavorful, and covered in a rich, savory gravy that soaked into the soft bread and paired perfectly with the creamy mashed potatoes. The sides were excellent too. We had a friend visiting from Scotland and wanted to give him an authentic pub experience, and Murphy's delivered in every way. Fridays after work are especially great here, the place fills up with energy, and for some reason the Guinness just tastes better. We grabbed seats at the bar, always the right move, and were taken care of by bartenders who were friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. My buddy and I stuck with pints of Guinness while my wife enjoyed a dirty martini. The food did not disappoint. Corned beef and cabbage, a breaded pork chop with mashed potatoes, and a salmon Caesar salad all hit the spot. The back bar is packed with memorabilia and old photos, so much history that you could grab a pint and wander for an hour just taking it all in. The shuffleboard was another highlight and quickly turned into a few competitive games. What really stood out was the crowd, so many regulars stopping in, greeting each other, and chatting with the staff, it truly felt like a Cheers-style place where everybody knows your name. Murphy's works just as well for lunch or dinner, and it is perfect for both locals and visitors. Thanks, Murphy's, for making it such a great night for our Scottish buddy.

Last…read moretime I could remember eating around there was at Murphy's...man does time fly quickly than usual. So my expectations were a bit curious with a place like J Dolan's. I've seen people say that they serve one of the best New York-style pizzas in Oahu. After today, they certainly delivered on that promise. So...as far as what I ordered there, with a friend, this was a good place to share a pizza and salad today. I got their mixed green salad alongside the Boardwalk pie. Wow...was it so good. Salad - Loved it...felt very fresh and unique, especially with the snow peas and broccoli, two ingredients I wouldn't have expected to be on a salad, but it works. Pizza - Dynamite. The crust was so crispy and definitely was beautiful to look at. Flavor was excellent...as it made me feel like I was experiencing a taste of New York right there. I can't say much more about this place, but man...they really brought the 'wow' factor for a pizza pub. Would I recommend this place? Totally. If you want to experience a good slice of NY style pizza, this is a good place to look at. Maybe sometime if I do come back, I would love to try their Giacomo pie. Thanks J Dolan, you really brightened up my day. 10/10
