Sumo pizza is the thing to get! I took off the pepperoni and olives so I could taste the pork underneath it and it was delicious!

Looking for something different from the usual big chains like Pizza Hut or Papa John's? Big Kahuna Pizza by the airport is worth a try. They've been serving up their pies for years, and they've got some fun specialty options you won't find anywhere else. Just a heads-up: their pizzas run a bit smaller than the typical "large" from the other guys, but the flavor makes up for it. You might want to grab a few of their famous garlic cheese balls. They come in a 6 or 12 pack, and honestly, the 12 is the way to go since most people end up eating more than one. Guilty as charged!

Custom: Pep, Sausage, Mushrooms, Red onions.

I can just taste the Paisano pizza toppings as I look at the photos. There is absolutely NOTHING bad about Big Kahuna's! Fresh ingredients assembled by the finest pizza makers in the state, reflects in the flavor of the finished product. A friend orders the sandwiches and said they are also very good. Two sizes depending on your appetite. Usually really busy at lunch sometimes not making any more pizzas bc they sold out, but still do sandwiches and famous cheeseballs. These delectable buttery, cheesy balls are soft and fluffy. Once paired w marinara sauce, it's game over. No sharing! Get your own!! Lots of stalls in the gated parking lot. Take a ticket and get it validated. Restaurant is not very spacious inside, however, there are several places to sit and eat. Thank you, Grubhub for offering delivery!

The worst pizza place. They don't honor their promotion.

Tiny overpriced Pizza. And they don't honor their advertised promotion. There's so many better pizza places nearby

Big Kahuna's Pizza located on Paiea St near the airport. Love their Pizzas . The crust makes it cravable. Oh and the Garlic Cheese Balls are to die for . Wonderful baked pillows of dough topped with lots of garlic and ooey gooey cheesy goodness. We had the Barbecue Chicken and Pepperoni 6" pizzas as well. Everything was amazingly delicious . Service was great. Nice casual dining room decorated with nostalgic memories.

Haven't been here in a very long time. Lucky for me, my kids picked me up from the airport and came straight here for dinner. First time I had to eat were their garlic cheese balls. Delicious just as I remembered. The kids ordered two kinds of pizza: the chorizo one and a sweet chicken one. Both tasted good because you can't beat homemade pizzas but I'm more of a spicy girl so the chorizo one was the winnah! Best welcome home dinner yet!

I used to love this place so much but I haven't been in years. Was in the area so I was so excited to eat it again. Honestly, it was just ok. Not bad but wasn't as good as I remembered it being. I was most excited for the garlic cheese balls. They didn't have as much flavor as they did before. I feel like it used to be almost too garlicky but now it's kinda bland. Pizza also is kinda bland even though they put a lot of sauce. Not a lot of toppings (see picture) pork was a little light. I would come back to try something else like a sandwich but I would not get the same pizza or the garlic cheese balls again. Service was fine, not very friendly but quick considering they make the food fresh, around 20 min.

With so much good local cuisine who comes to HI to eat Pizza? Apparently we do. With the number of reviews and ratings we couldn't resist. It's small, 6 tables with a long wait time. About 25 mins for our 12" Sumo Special. We were told up front there was a wait. In reality it only took 15 mins for our hot, messy & gooey pizza to arrive. No complaints, it was ridiculously delicious. The thin crust was completely covered with ingredients( too many to list) The only reason we saw cheese is because it was on top. I was a little skeptical about the $26 price tag on a 12" pie. That ended at the 1st bite. I've been eating pizza for more years and in multiple countries than I'd like to admit to. This was, by far, the best pizza I've ever eaten. I don't rave about much, these guys earned it. If you're reading this review you're looking for great pizza. Look no further, this is it. They also support our armed forces. If you're military or veteran bring proof for a small discount.

I been coming here since they first open & I must say, it gets better & better with taste. The "white" pizza is BOMB! As for their chicken wings & garlic balls, to die for. I would eat here everyday if only I live closer...

Haven't had big kahuna in years. My friend insisted on going so we ordered a couple pizzas. Got the sumo which has lots of meats and veggies on it. It was loaded with toppings though I wish it had a little more kalua pig. The kanaka had bbq sauce and kalua pig on it. The bbq sauce was overwhelming and too much. The garlic cheese balls were just as delicious as I remember it. Prices have risen by a few dollars since I last visited but it was still decent quality and service.

Soooo good We ordered online to skip the long lines and pickup was easy. The staff was super nice and even hooked us up with an extra pizza because they made one too many, mahalo! We got the Sumo, White Cheese, and the extra pizza was sausage & pepperoni. All of them were straight bangers, serious kanak attack after. Garlic cheese balls + BK's Triple D's cheeeeehooooo broke da mouth Inside feels welcoming and family vibes. Parking's a little annoying and we missed our turn, but this spot is 100% a pizza staple. Gotta come back for sure!

Tried some new items! Their Sandwiches have excellent soft toasted bread. Ham & Mushroom sandwich with a 5 cheese blend : Provolone, Cheddar, Mozzarella, Romano, and Parmesan. Really good. The New Yorker sandwich was great with a slightly charred Pastrami, pickles and cheese. Lots of flavor! TRY THIS! Pulled Pork sandwich with mayo and BBQ sauce was filling! Very flavorful! A local fave! Chicken Wings with BBQ & Ranch dipping sauce on the side. Pretty Large Wings. Refrigerated Brownie with white chocolate ganache was a sweet treat! :) MAHALO!

I'm amazed how fast they were when making sandwiches for me and my parents. The workers were attentive and swift. There was an assembly line of them making the sandwiches in house. It was towards the end of the day so they ran out of most of their choice's of bread , tomato, and sprouts (complimentary toppings) which is no biggie. Ordered three "Vinny" which is like an Italian sandwich with wheat bread (which all they had that night) my choice of seasonings, oil and red onions. It was well made sandwich wrapped nicely, no spills since I had some oils, however I prefer to try that sandwich with a different bread next time and wish there was a little more protein. Inside the shop, was very clean, but bright like being in a yellow blue submarine that's trying to be tropical. Overall, it's a friendly atmosphere with the walls giving "military on tropical island vibes" lol I mean it is near base and they do have some variety of vickies and utz chips at the front of store. Will be back next time to try other options.

First off, their sandwiches are thickkk! Thick slices of homemade bread, tons of fresh meats, and veggies. This place has been on my hubby's places to try list and we finally checked it off the list! We went with their Turkey Avocado Bacon sandwich. He was so impressed when he saw the worker slicing the turkey fresh onto the sandwich. This sandwich is pretty basic and includes turkey, avocado spread, bacon, lettuce, tomato, & mayo. You can add on more veggies at no charge such as cucumber, onion, oregano, & even hot mustard. The sandwich itself was good but for $13.99 I wish they had fresh avocado or added more avocado spread because I didn't taste any of it. Second, the bread was really soft with a bit of a chewy crust. It's made fresh daily so you know it's quality. Overall, it was a pretty good sandwich but nothing special. Maybe we have to try a different sandwich with different meats next time!

Owned by husband-and-wife team, Robert and Leah Roberts, both have always had a passion in their hearts in starting a bistro-style sandwich food truck. They left Spokane, WA to move here, with Leah's family and friends calling her "Lei Lei," which is how the name of her food truck came about. People were skeptical of their plan to open a food truck specializing in sandwiches, as they were told HI is a land of plate lunches and not of sandwiches, but they are serving a niche of followers. They serve breakfast in the morning hours that include: breakfast croissant, loco moco, and breakfast plates. Their lunch menu includes: patty melt; French dip; hot pastrami on rye; tuna melt; London broil; cracked pepper turkey, bacon, avocado with provolone; BLT; loco moco, smash burgers. They also do catering and offer sandwich platters. We've had the following as takeout: * Hot pastrami on marble rye. The sandwich also included fresh cole slaw with a house-made Russian dressing, and sautéed onions. Their most popular sandwich, it was delicious and filled with generous amounts of Boars Head pastrami, Swiss cheese, cole slaw, onions, and a creamy Russian based sauce using Leah's secret recipe. It was a hearty and filling sandwich! It came with generous amounts of addictive and freshly fried, crispy house-made potato chips! A free drink was included, and I chose a large cup of refreshing unsweetened iced tea. * Clam chowder in bread bowl. Because it was takeout, the clam chowder was placed in a separate container. The freshly made creamy chowder was very flavorful and loaded with clams, potatoes, bacon, round onions, and topped with green onions. The bread bowl was good, but you can't beat authentic sourdough bread from Boudin Bakery in SFO! No skimping on ingredients, and I loved it! Customer service is excellent and is extremely friendly by the two owners! Both are welcoming and ready to please! They know what the Aloha Spirit is and exude it to the max! Both are faith-driven and openly declare that if it weren't for God, they wouldn't be where they are. Scriptures adorn the food truck, and colorful stickers are used on their takeout containers. The open front passenger area of the truck has free Bibles for those wanting any. They advertise Hope Calvary Ohana on their truck, but when I asked if they were members, they said they were members of Anchor Church in Kaneohe, but they help to advertise Hope Calvary Ohana that is location right in back of the food truck. And diners are free to post personalized messages on colorful fish on their inner fence, as the fish symbolize abundance, evangelism, and discipleship in the Bible. Hours of operation are Mon to Sat 10a to 2p, closed Sun. Located in a busy corner of Kalihi, they have an advantage over other similar lunch take-outs, as they have around 5 free parking spaces on Hau St. The front of the food truck on Mokuaea St. is blocked by a wooden fence at curbside with two outdoor picnic tables if you desire to eat there. Love their food truck with actual colorful photos of their menu items! Lei Lei's Bistro Food Truck brings a nice change to the local plate lunch scene in Kalihi with hearty sandwiches and homemade potato chips and fries and clam chowder. Owner Leah and Robert look forward to sharing with you their Aloha Spirit, as I look forward to trying their other sandwiches as well. My thoughts: - French Dip on a French roll with truffle aioli, London broil roast beef, picante provolone, sautéed onions and mushrooms, and au jus: I enjoyed this! Lots of meat and the bun was soft which is how I like it. When I brought it home and opened the au jus container, I thought they didn't give enough BUT it was...whew! The portions overall are massive. Two mixed plates and a side of garlic fries turned into dinner plus two extra meals. The tossed salad was good, and even as someone who's picky about mac salad, I thought theirs was really good. The garlic fries were also crisp to perfection. I'm also obsessed with their strawberry and lemon crunch cakes. They're soft with the perfect amount of toffee crunch. I've brought them to work a few times, and they've always been a crowd favorite. This place is comfort food for us. Huge portions, consistently good food, and a spot that keeps us coming back!
