It's been a while since we've dined here. But now there is a new location (actually same complex but different store front). So much bigger than the previous place. They opened at 8am and we were there a little after 8:30 on a Sunday and yes, there was a line. But not too long a line and after we were seated there was no line but then a long line when we were leaving. So it is hit or miss in terms of wait time. Cross your fingers and the seating gods may be generous and kind to you. Menu id basically the same. And although there were four females to help with answering the phones for takeout orders, bussing and serving as well as taking orders and payment their system is efficient. When your table is ready you order and pay (if you order a drink a cup for your coffee or drink will be given). It saves time for you to wait for someone to take your order and later to wave someone down to pay. I know other places use this system (like Joe's on Nimitz) but it seems very practical here. Every table had a cold bottle of water waiting for the diners (so no wait help had to refill glasses) and I saw one of the wait help exchange the one on the table for a new cold bottle (that table was vacant for a while). The food is plentiful (most people had at least one take out container) and delicious. My corn beef wasn't from a can and cooked so there was a crisp but still soft on the inside. The spinach and mushrooms were fresh (once had canned mushrooms in my omelet at Zippy's -ugh). read more

Breakfast was ordered here through Grubhub for Grandparents Day from the kiddies. While waiting for the order to arrive the time changed from 9:30 am delivery til after 10 a.m. Then the order was cancelled. I'm surprised the restaurant didn't notify us that we wouldn't be receiving what was ordered since we waited with anticipation for over 2 hours and were hungry. The kiddies' mom had to call Button Up to find out the status of the order, tell them to hold onto the order, pick it up herself and deliver it to us. Tsk tsk tsk. The order consisted of ube French toast, short rib Benedict and fried rice with omelette. The French toast and potatoes were the best to me. Yeah, no I wasn't impressed with the new expanded version. Went at 12:30 so we missed the lunch crowd so that was a plus but they operate like they're still the little 16 seat restaurant from before. When you walk in you better know the menu because 1:how many in your party? The restaurant was nearly empty so what did it matter? I was told so they could set up the table. Felt like they were saying so we can remove all the extra silverware so you don't take it home. 2, order at the counter with the same person that just asked how many in your party. I guess if you change your mind and want something in addition you are SOL because you need to pay right then and there. 3, apparently they close mid afternoon but the workers start wiping down the seats and sweeping the floors right next to where your sitting and eating. Not sure that's exactly sanitary to the people still eating. The associates are polite however I left think there's a lack of a welcoming attitude. I didn't need or want a half plate of fried potatoes along with my corned beef hash which was sparsely put atop an English muffin and two of the smallest poached on top. Something fresh would have been good. Did I feel it was worth $19.95 plus tax plus tip? Not without table service and a different way of handling the entrance....no wonder there's a line at the door, if you get behind a slow person trying to read the menu you'll be backing up that line. read more

Finally able to try this place (sometimes hard to find parking or line appears too long)! But what i learned was that they are fairly fast, so take out is worth it too, if youre able to find parking. Simple process to dine in-- name on list, wait outside. She'll call you when table is ready. Decide your order while you wait. She'll give you menus when your table is ready but you order and pay at the front register. That's nice so you leave whenever youre done eating. I was very impressed with how patient she was with everyone. She remained calm, cool, and provided terrific service to all. Menu is fairly small but definitely get a French toast. Majority chose all the fruits and whip cream (so fully loaded), even though that added over $7. The stuffed one looked good too but more people ordered the fruit ones. I've been ordering through door dash for their food. We've had their food before. Someone is not checking customers orders. My Ube cheese cake French toast is delicious. The only gripe I have is they don't include everything that it should come with. On the menu is shows it had blueberries and strawberries and they somehow always forget to one or the other. Sometimes no blueberries sometimes no strawberries. So it's not consistent. So if you want to order the Ube cheesecake French toast in the future, just expect you'll have something missing in it. Whoever making them is not checking at all. Last time I'm ordered through door dash they forgot the whole order. Door dash driver is suppose to check if get everything before driving off. But I guess they don't check anymore. I love all their food here at this restaurant. It's better to dine at their restaurant Vs going through door dash bc there is always something missing. Heard so many good things about this place decided to give it a try and was not disappointed. I had the stuffed strawberry french toast which was really good and the spinach mushroom cheese omelette. Omelette was a good size portion couldn't finish the whole thing. Id give the french toast 5 out of 5 stars but the omelette 3 out of 5 there were pieces of egg shells in the omelette. My husband and I tried this place for the first time back in December 2025 and we shared the short rib Benedict. Thank god we shared it because it was the perfect portion to start our day. The short rib was so moist and tender. We also got it with fried rice and that definitely enhanced the flavor and taste of our meal. The wait was about 20 mins. There's limited seating inside but it was definitely worth the wait. I am definitely putting this spot on my list of places to visit when we come back. Some friends told me about this place and even showed me the photos but I wasn't sure if I was going to be able to go. However, my Sunday morning plans changed and Janey and I trekked out to Pearl City to find this gem...hidden gem is more like it. It is located in a small commercial center on Nimitz. If you don't know where you're going, you will miss it, however, look for the people waiting. There's plenty of parking which is great! The inside is small and cozy but they do a great job. It's also not a place to sit and talk story. Eat, talk a little while eating, and then leave cause people are waiting. We decided to share the Korean short rib benny and the ube stuffed cheesecake french toast. I also had a small side of the homemade corned beef hash. That benny was soooooo good! We were first timers to the recently moved Button Up Cafe; from the location off the main road to the newer addition behind the old cafe. Confused at first about the check-in: first you give them your name and party number. They give you the menu and have you sit in the waiting area, while you look over the menu and decide. When they call your name, you place your order at the counter, pay and then you get a table number where you go to await your order! Seems very efficient this way. Mini restaurant gets packed with people, main door is kept open, while ambiance gets warm even with ceiling fans running. It was so ONO!! The short rib was so tender and flavorful, we also got it with fried rice which had bacon and spam in it that was good as well. Service was great. My mom had the hamburger steak and I had the poutine braised short rib French fries because the Braised short ribs wasn't available. When our food came out it was huge amazing portions. Honestly we both couldn't finish our plates. The food was amazing, the portions were large and the service was good. There was one thing that I didn't care for and it was when we walked in, we were handed menus and told to order (fast food restaurant style), after ordering we were directed to take a table. Because we had never been there before I felt a little rushed when reading the menu and felt like I had to order right away as there were people staring to trickle in behind us. It's a small restaurant in sort of a hole in the wall spot. We were lucky to be seated right away. They had a sign in sheet outside but when we checked in with the waitress, they told us to just sit. The food here is absolutely delicious! I get the hype... the stuffed French toast has the right amount of sweetness and the eggs, Portuguese and rice hit the spot for my son. I loved the poutine fries. The only downfall here was that it was scorching hot sitting in here. There's no AC and the flies flying around was just a turnoff. Button up Cafe has been on my bookmark list for a while now. Managed to check out the Button Up Cafe in Pearl City during a rare weekday visit because I was having my car serviced nearby. It's a small cafe in the Pearl City Plaza. I remember the plaza from small kid time when I went to an orthodontist for braces. Inside it's a little cramped, with only 6-8 two person tables that can be combined for bigger parties. Set up is streamlined. Order and pay at the counter, and if you're dining in, they'll bring the food to the table. Heard a lot of good things about their corned beef breakfasts, so it was a no brainer to order a CB hash classic breakfast. Upgraded to fried rice and added on a side of bacon. Total without tax & tip was about $19, average these days. A short time later, my food was delivered, piping hot and smelling like heaven! Generous portions of fried rice and bacon! The corned beef hash had nice-sized chunks of corned beef in it. Dug in and eat my fill, there was enough leftovers for a good sized snack. Good food at a good price, that's what anyone wants. BUC can get crowded, especially on the weekends. I'm glad I tried them, they have in my opinon one of the top 3 corned beef dishes on Oahu! Will keep BUC on rotation when I'm in the area!
