Sunny Side

I had an eye appointment in Wahiawa, so decided to drop in at this locals favorite spot. The order: Son son: Waffle which came out hot and crunchy on the outside and soft interior Daddy's order: Teri Steak Plate Lunch with Mac Salad and sauce all over the rice. The Teri steak had that great sweet umami blast. Some prices were tender and soft, but there were a few chewy pieces mixed in. Service was on point, came in, greeted with a smile, ordered, sat down, and food was out in a jippy. The interior seating area is cute and honey vibe with a view of the kitchen. We'll definitely come back if we are on this side of the island.

Fried Rice Special

This little mom and pop breakfast spot in Wahiawa is truly a hidden gem. It's the definition of a true local roots business... you can feel it from the moment you walk in. Everyone is so friendly. There is a small seating area and you order at the counter. There's no real sit down service and food is served on paper plates, but the quality for the price is what you come for. The fried rice special comes with one egg and hot dog and was pretty good, not amazing though. I was however, super impressed with the pancakes. Genuinely, I think it was the best pancakes I've ever had in my life! The batter is so tasty. They're so light and fluffy yet the edges have a little crisp to it. The chocolate pie was homemade, super fresh and so rich and creamy. In my opinion, come here for their pie and pancakes! Wow what a standout!

Bacon and egg sandwich

Update 8-8-25. Didn't know what to eat so I remembered when I review themway back then I said let's eat pancakes . My husband said let's go. So I did order their pancake and a bacon and egg sandwich. They ask how I wanted the egg I said easy over boy that was a mistake yolk gushing out of the sandwich dripping too. Lots of bacon but only thing the bread was crumbly not too fresh and not to soft. When I was biting into the sandwich everything was falling out. Oh well... Now for the pancake it was good light and fluffy not heavy. The kind of pancake I like. Will go back and order it again. The service was excellent they come to your table with the food you order and even bring the utensils if you forgot to take them after you pay.

Welcome to the remodeled interior of comfort, country, down to earth ambiance for dine in B & L from 6 AM-1 PM! I thought it was amazing to have the entire dining area to myself for 25 mins. Where are all the early morning risers? Free parking in private lot. Take out window is open from 6 AM-2 PM. You're welcome to call in your to go orders for B/L and their pies. Big thank you to all the employees from kitchen to front of the house crew for excellent customer service and delicious meal. Dine in: Order and pay first with the employee at the register. Payment methods accepted are cash, debit and credit card. No extra fees. Offer 10% disc with presented, valid military ID. Server will bring meal(s) to where you're seated. Help yourself to choice of stainless steel or recyclable utensils and cutlery. Help yourself to paper cups pending on your choice of fountain Coca Cola beverage(s). I loved the multitude of flavors from fried rice with oozing sunny side egg and tasty, grilled, open face hot dog! I'm not really a fan of hot dogs. Not heavy and not oily. Sorry peeps, no substitutions. Next time I shall preorder their whole apple, pear-peach and blueberry cream pies. All of their pies are yummy with sturdy crusts pending on preferences.

Decided to pick up a pie and have Breakfast. We order a chocolate cream pie for our upcoming party. Also ordered two bacon and egg sandwiches. The sandwiches was delicious. Full of bacon, lettuce and one egg. The over easy egg just burst in your mouth. we shared one piece of pancakes. My wife and I thought this was one of the best on the island. Enjoy

First time trying Sunny side, to begin I walked in because our family wanted to dine in, there was only 2 people inside eating and grateful they weren't crowded, I stood at the register for a few minutes and wasn't greeted and no one made eye contact with me and about 5 workers walked passed me, I didn't know if I could just seat myself, only one guy approached and asked what I wanted to order, asked if we can dine in for a party of 6, without saying yes or no I was told "you order here and you choose your table" I said okay and just sat myself. The place was small, they offer take out from the window outside and they did have a table outside, the decor was cool and is air conditioned. While ordering, my dad got an Eggs Benedict and he was asked how he wanted the egg?? Totally confused cause typically an Eggs Benedict has a poached egg, but my dad didn't know what it was called and he told the gyal that they could make how they usually would, she responded "so how would you like the egg?" He just ordered it as over easy, after paying she said that the drinks/condiments/utensils were self serve, which I didn't mind. When our food was brought to the table, the food looked mid but the Eggs Benedict was terrible, the plate was messy and the hollandaise sauce was not correct, it tasted too sour and just looked sad honestly, we ordered a loco moco, the patty was small and it was mostly rice, but the prices were good however not worth it if this is there quality of food, during our experience my little brother asked the server if he could have ketchup and instead of telling him that it was at the front to grab, he was ignored and she walked away. Our family were told that they had very good pies and my grandma had ordered the blueberry/chocolate/apple and honestly they were okay nothing exciting, when we finished eating I assumed we also had to clean up after ourselves as well so I trashed our paper plates and the utensils weren't disposable so I thought to leave the utensils on the table but when I got to the trash there was a bucket to put the utensils in, I didn't know how to feel about it but it was laughing moment. Overall I wouldn't go back, Wahiawa locals have told me this place isn't the same and I wished I knew what that meant but I wanted to love this place it just came down to the service/food that was disappointing.

Get your pie fix here! This place is famous for their delicious pies! But, get there early before they sell out! We love their Chocolate Cream Pie! But, they do have other fruit pies and even a Chocolate Haupia pie! We visited here after going to the Christmas Tree Farm nearby. Besides pie, they're known for their plate lunches & breakfast items. Their menu is huge so there's something for everyone! We got a variety of things. Here's what we got: 1. Loco Moco: my dad ordered this and it came with lots of dark gravy with an egg on top. He devoured it so fast! 2. I ordered corned beef hash with eggs & hash browns. Everything was so flavorful! The eggs had lots of butter! The hash browns were thin and crispy. 3. My hubby ordered Chicken Cutlet but he was disappointed to see there was no gravy on it! I'm not sure if you have to ask for gravy? He said the chicken was flavorful but, still needed a sauce. 4. Fish Sandwich: My mom ordered this & it was okay. It was just a fish patty with tartar sauce & lettuce. Overall, if you're in the Wahiawā area during breakfast/lunch, be sure to pick up a pie and plate lunch!

Pork Chops

First time here for lunch. Cashier and all the staff greeted us and was very friendly. She gave us the rundown and recommendations of the menu. I met the owner Lucy and daughter Laura. They gave us a brief history of the restaurant. We had fun and laughter with a little magic entertainment. It had a nice comfortable and relaxing ambiance. Parking was easy right in front. We had the Pork Chop and Hamburger Steak plate. Both were outstanding and flavorful. They really smothered the onions over the pork chop, so good! Portions were good size with leftovers for another meal. And of course, we couldn't leave without ordering chocolate pudding pie. That topped it off, so delicious! I will surely be back and try other menu items soon.

Waffle, French toast, Portuguese sausage, fried rice, egg, Jasmine rice
Stephanie T.

Portuguese sausage and fried rice were surprisingly bursting with flavor, while the presentation did not seem so. It was absolutely delicious! The waffle was about in par with other waffles, nothing special, but loved the homie and cozy ambiance. Definitely a local family restaurant feel and service reflected as such. Would definitely go again for the sausages and fried rice!

Gee, I was so wanting to try Shige's Saimin in Wahiawa that I convinced Jamie W. to take a 90-minute ride on a public bus to get there from Waikiki. It was delicious and worth it (review: https://yelp.to/ZIMH533vrM), but then we found we had a half-hour before the return bus. I had recalled from a local vlogger that this was the place to get some homemade pie. Well, it sounded like a good way to kill time. It took us about fifteen minutes to walk over to this modest breakfast cafe. Indeed they had five different pies on display, and slices were sold at $5 a piece. Jamie and I shared two slices - the perfectly cut Pear-Peach (photo: https://yelp.to/XiAqQvijFW) and the fallen apart Blueberry Cream (photo: https://yelp.to/4p7JbxTw7m). Didn't matter because they were both delicious, but man, we have to catch the bus. Gulp. FOOD - 4 stars...very good homestyle pie...they know how AMBIANCE - 3 stars...just a plain coffee shop SERVICE - 3 stars...rather unspirited TOTAL - 4 stars...not worth 90 minutes on a bus but if you happen to be in town... Ube mascarpone pancakes!…read more I've dined here and at the Aiea location a few times. To my surprise, Guieb was introducing an updated menu when my friend and I visited earlier today. Our server explained that the menu is more streamlined with favorites. He mentioned that all pancake dishes can be interchangeable to waffles and that the waffle in their chicken and waffle dish can be any flavor! can My friend and I ordered new menu items, the Aria Plate for her and Da 3-Bite Feast for me. We enjoyed our plates! I love when restaurants offer samplers of sweet and savory breakfast items. The ube mascarpone pancakes were as legitimately ube and not too sweet as ever. The crab cake Benedict was great with a crispy crab cake patty and the poached egg a good medium (huge improvement from the bao bun Benedict I ordered for takeout years ago). The egg from the Wagyu loco moco was cooked exactly like the over easy I requested. The meat was moist and the gravy was flavorful. Good to know I don't always have to get the same ube mascarpone pancakes every time! One of our servers seemed a little hurried when my friend just arrived, even though the restaurant wasn't busy. I gently reminded him that my friend needed time to look at the menu. (Maybe he got too excited, haha!) The rest of the staff were friendly and attentive. I seem to forget about Guieb's parking in the back, or even the 1-hour parking around the block. The closest untimed street parking I'm aware of is near First Hawaiian Bank a couple blocks away. Guieb Cafe Wahiawa is always a favorite whenever I have visiting family and friends, or for loved ones moving away.

****CHECK YOUR RECEIPT PRIOR TO PAYING****…read more ****CHECK YOUR RECEIPT PRIOR TO PAYING**** I had lunch with my wife and had a wonderful experience (she had the country fried steak and I had the Korean rib-eye with an order of 4 beignets [2 of the Ube and 2 of the Strawberry])... ...until I got the receipt for our meal. The cost for the whole meal was reasonable until I saw the price for the beignets that were the special menu item. THEY TRIED TO CHARGE US $25.00 for 4 beignets. (For reference: Price was: 1 for $2.75 or 4 for $10.00) I only ordered 4 (two of the Strawberry and 2 of the Ube so my wife and I can try both flavors), which should come out to $10.00. I confronted the waitress about the mistake, and was very apologetic about the error. She returns to the register to fix it and the total came out to $11.00, not $10.00. The math doesn't make sense. So I approached the waitress and she said and I quote: "We charge the $2.75 price because you ordered two orders of two different types of beignets. Since each cost $2.75, the total comes out to $11.00". THAT WAS NEVER MENTIONED WHEN THE WAITRESS TOOK OUR ORDER OR WAS NOT PRINTED ON THE MENU WHEN WE WERE LOOKING AT THE ORDER I asked her why wasn't this mentioned while we were ordering it, even though she was present when I was having the discussion of the beignets to my wife. All she did was apologize but didn't change the ticket. I didn't want to cause a scene, so I paid the bill and took off. I only state this because even though it is only a dollar, this could have been going on for a good amount of time where they can rack up a good sum of money from customers if they kept this act going. And restaurants wonder why people don't go to their establishments: because occurrences similar to this dissuade people from going out to eat. This is why I check my receipt before paying. *see picture* Don't get me wrong, food was wonderful and the ambiance was laid back and relaxed, but they should make it known of their EXACT pricing before advertising a food item on the menu

The chai is pretty sweet on its own so I add 2 shots of espresso to cut thru that sweetness and add a teeny bit more caffeine to the drink. My favorite seasonal drink was in the summer -- I believe it was a haupia latte (cold foam on top was sooooo good with the coffee). Food: If I order food, it'll be the bacon burrito w/sauce. They also have other sweeter options for food (mochi waffles, avo toast, etc) Of the countless times I've been to Surfer's, there's a mixture of people - some locked in doing work, others catching up with friends, people reading their Bibles, tourists passing through checking out a local coffee shop, etc. Because of this, it can get pretty loud for a coffee shop, so just FYI if you plan on going there to do work!
