What makes this to go bakery different from others regarding delectable sweets on O'ahu? Stick donuts: Baby size or mini glazed donuts that you're able to pull off from the long skewers. Sweets in increments or mini bites. Chocolate fans can celebrate with chocolate stick donuts and sprinkled chocolate stick donuts. Not pictured. Sweet Potato Turnover: Baked mini shaped empanadas filled with Okinawan sweet potatoes. One of my faves. Not overly sweet. Light in weight. Doesn't crumble all over the place. Azuki Turnover: Baked mini shaped empanadas filled with red azuki beans. Another fave for the same reasons above. Butter Danish: Light custard cream with some glazed sugar on butter roll. Bread Pudding: Thick in height and tasty. If you prefer more traditional eats, there's butter rolls, brownies with powdered sugar, chantilly cupcakes, and ensaymada. I must note that their butter rolls and ensaymada tastes lighter in comparison to other bakeries on O'ahu. Casual ambiance. Prices are color coded. Courteous and thoughtful customer service from the two elderly ladies. Line moved swiftly. Orders packed in a pink box. Cash and cards are accepted. Arrive early for ideal selections. Free parking in the lot and via street.

Great donuts and pastries! Always a spot to look foward to W-F since its nearby. Favorite is the all butter danish!

Old fashion cake donut

Had an appointment in Wahiawa and made a "quick" stop at Kilani Bakery... which turned into a full-on donut moment. I grabbed their old-fashioned cake donut and OH MY GOODNESS--where has this been all my life?! It was huge (like, who needs lunch?) and so dang good. Moist, perfectly sweet, and totally nostalgic. Then I got bold and tried the one with chocolate too--and yup, also a winner. At this point I was basically having a donut tasting party in my car. No regrets. Kilani Bakery, you've officially raised my donut standards. 10/10 would donut again.

Beatrice Takara is the daughter of Chosei Zukeran, who baked bread at the Alexander Young Hotel (Fun Fact: ok, Baby Boomers, who remember the lemon crunch cake from there?), and he was called the "king of the French bread." Chosei went on to be the founder and opened 9th Ave Bakery. She met her husband, Walter Takara when he was baking for her father. Beatrice and Walter Takara opened Kilani Bakery in Wahiawa 66 years ago in Aug 16, 1959, the year when HI became the 50th state. The original site was a 2-story building across from Wahiawa General Hospital, which eventually moved to its current site a block away. Both worked together daily until they were sidelined with health issues. The Takaras' son, 2nd generation son and daughter-in-law, Sidney and Dawn Takara took over 15 years ago and now have their 3rd generation son, Gavin Takara, leading the baking section; and their daughter, Ashley Nelson who helps manage the business, creates new pastries, and decorates cakes. This family-owned bakery's philosophy is to keep it simple and old-school. But sometimes, you have to change with the times. Dawn noted that back then, azuki bean pastries were very popular, but now, the younger generation don't eat it, but instead want the sweet things, like Chantilly and eclairs topped with chocolate. So, azuki pastries are baked only on weekends now. But for the most part, there has been minimal change over the years. Kilani Bakery is known for their iconic brownies, Chantilly pastries, stick donuts, custard pie, and lemon meringue pie. Their extensive dessert offerings include: cookies, donuts, Danishes, malasadas, ensaymadas, long johns, turnovers, pies, bread pudding, chiffon cakes, butter rolls, decorated custom cakes, breads, and more. Go early, as many items sell out quickly. Some of the pastries we've tried include: * Brownies. So addicting, chewy, moist and delicious! They come in 15 rectangular pieces in a plastic see-through container ($12.50) or smaller pieces in a white bag ($9.50). They come with or without walnuts and choc chips and dusted heavily with powdered sugar. A winner! They also have Brownie Bites with Chantilly frosting in the middle, which I have yet to try. * Chocolate-centered glazed donuts. A huge dollop of real chocolate placed on top of the donut. Yes, real chocolate and not choc pudding like other bakeries. * Glazed stick donuts. You don't find stick donuts around anymore, as this is really old-school. Something about eating donuts off of a stick makes it heavenly! * Ensaymada. Topped heavily with butter and sugar, it looks very delicious. However, texture and consistency of the ensaymada somehow is not light and not how I know what an ensaymada should be. I have not tried the lemon meringue pie, but it looks incredible with its sky-high meringue! Hope to get this one day! Staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and efficient with many being long-time employees. They are very welcoming and ready to assist you. The interior is clean and bright, but dated; however, it serves its purpose as an old-school bakery. Display cases appear to be the original ones. Hours of operation are: Wed to Fri 6:00a to 3:45p, Sat/Sun 7:00a to 3:45p, Mon/Tues closed. Kiliani Bakery is located in the heart of Wahiawa on Kilani Ave. They have free parking in their private parking lot on the side of the building, but sometimes it gets crowded during peak times. They participate in the Five Stars Program where you earn 1 point for every $1 spent that can be used as discounts on future purchases. Be sure to sign up! Because I live so far away, I always make it a point to stop at Kilani Bakery for a special treat when I'm in Wahiawa. This bakery will certainly be part of the old school nostalgia remembrances. Support local!

Okay like of course we are going to start with their BROWNIES!!!! That is all I come here for lol it's the best brownies I've had. So soft and they put peanuts in it? Yes please! They also have reg without. But wait it's not over, they have brownie bites with a chantilly frosting in the middle. So so good!!! They of course have donuts because they are a regular bakery but they are known for their brownies. The service is good. Aunty is super nice. The store is not that big so I would just buy and eat your goodies elsewhere. Every single time I'm in Wahiawā I have to make a stop!

Kilani Bakery in Wahiawa has the best brownies !! They have excellent customer service!!

I came here for the brownie bites and they did not disappoint! The brownie bites came in a cup and had a dollop of Chantilly on top, and a chocolate mousse and sprinkles in the middle. It was definitely tasty!

Expensive. Maybe it's because I didn't grow up eating it, but it's not for me. Quick service and my employees liked it. That's all that matters.

I don't get out to Wahiawa often, so Kilani Bakery is not an establishment that I frequent. Their reputation precedes them which is why I went today...helps that they are one of the few small, local bakeries open on Christmas. They are on Kilani Avenue, off of Kamehameha Highway. Dedicated parking lot has a dozen stalls. They are known for their brownies (and I do recall enjoying them very much around the pandemic) but today, I picked up a Pumpkin Custard Pie, which was excellent not eggscellent...sometimes the custard has a pronounced egg flavor. Chocolate Haupia Cake is tempting...for another time.

Custard pie!!!!

Ok probably already know about this place. Brownies yes are a must. Pastries yes. But have you had their custard pie? Lee's is my favorite but this, this pie might be right there next to Lee's. What it has going for it is its accessibility. Parking is right in front. In and you're out. I would gate keep this but damn this pie is worth sharing with everyone.

Located in Wahiawa and they are know for their brownies and Dobashi cake, we stop by to pick up some items, since we live in town and when ever we are in Wahiawa we try to stop by and pick up something. But if you go later in the day most of the items are sold out by then so you need to go early or call in your order. The brownies are always good as normal and we also picked up the Orange Chiffon which was very lite and tasty. The apple & blueberry turnovers are also very good the crust is thicker than the normal and lots of filling.

Jason M.

The brownies are always on point but then you find them in a cup with chantilly on them...OMG! Wife and I love these brownies and yes we got a bag of the OG brownies as well! Keep up the great grinds and the fast and friendly service!

Shane A.

Stopped by for some of their infamous brownies...came out with these. It's puff pastry filled with chocolate cream topped with their chantilly and powdered sugar. O...M...G! Light and flakey with a smooth chocolate filling and their savory chantilly. It was gone in a few bites. Not sure if this is a normal item or only on Sundays. Would pick these up for my next gathering so everyone can try these and support local. Customer service was excellent too. Parking easy.

You can't go wrong with "The Original," which is creamy n' not too tart. Just the right amount of sweetness n' always feels like a special treat. I immediately thought of Pua Cake Studio located in Wahiawa and went to the website. They have everything online including flavors, pricing, ready-made cakes and cupcakes, and a price inquiry form. I found it super easy to order. Once I requested a quote, they replied quickly with the price and availability. I was able to pay online and I was set. My family was so impressed and some that don't even like cake ended up eating an entire slice (Mom wanted vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream). The frosting was sooo light and soft, I loved that it wasn't overly sweet like most frostings. The cake itself was so moist and flavorful. It was just perfect! Highly recommend this cake studio and I will definitely be ordering here for future celebrations. Thank you so much!! Highly recommend and would give 10 stars if I could.
