    coconut loaf

American Floor event sold out at Palama Market so walking back to car. Stopped by and purchased a coconut loaf and a custard tart. Not too much coconut but the bread is soft. Custard was ok. I asked what they were known for but staff pointed to coconut loaf and an pan loaf and custard. Maybe the smaller versions are better. Small shop.

Nagoya Bakery lives up to its namesake, eliciting reactions like "where is it?" And "what is it famous for?" You should check it out at least once. Chances are, you'll be back. Described as a bakery specializing in scrumptious pastries, azuki loafs, coconut leafs, white bread, raisin bread and more. Nagoya Bakery is the best spot to pick up a box full of savory and sweet pastries for a work meeting or social gathering. You can easily pack the box with generously stuffed manapua, cream filled pastries, and other treats that will liven any event. There's plenty of parking out front in the Waimalu Shopping Center. Just be sure to check the traffic flow, so you don't drop knee on the traffic wave going out the wrong way.

Pastries in Aiea, Oahu, Hawaii... I've always wanted to visit Nagoya Bakery... it's an old-school, inconspicuous shop at the beginning of the strip mall, Waimalu Shopping Center. The adventure began when I picked up my friend from her dad's house in Manoa. She was visiting from Virginia. We've been friends since the first grade! I wanted to show her this cool store: VH07V, but they were closed for vacation... so, we ate Hawaiian food at Jackie's Diner. As we were leaving the free parking lot, I saw Nagoya Bakery and told her that I never had a chance to try their products. She said, "Let's go!" I parked in front of the bakery and we entered the cozy shop. It was afternoon, and they had sold out of the Custard tarts. Shucks. However, there were still a bunch of goodies to choose from! The prices were quite reasonable and everything looked good! My friend got a haul for her family, and I picked up a Custard Bun and ensemada... yummy! We'll be back - especially since the service was efficient and friendly! Thank you!

This is quaint bakery nestled within the Waimalu Shopping Center. You will find a variety of sweet and savory baked goods to choose from. Not wanting to limit myself since it was my first time here, I bought a bag full of items to try by grabbing whatever was pleasing to the eye. No lapse in judgment here! I enjoyed everything lol Items were also reasonably priced, and service was friendly. I'm pretty sure they didn't have all of the items listed on their website. But like at any bakery, you snooze, you lose! You'll need to come as soon as they're open if you want the best selections. This place is worth your time if you enjoy quality baked goods. From their website menu: Pastries - Spam & Cheese Bun Custard Bun Hot Dog Bun Charsiu Manapua Custard Roll Coconut Cream Bun Hong Kong Bun Coconut Cross Raisin Bun Pineapple Custard Bun Ensemada Snow Mountain Bread (Chocolate, Custard, and Matcha) Specials - Egg Tarts Lotus Cake Red Bean Cake Cinnamon Twist Apple Turnover Pineapple Strudel Stick Breads - Azuki Loaf Coconut Loaf White Bread Raisin Bread

My other craze is the Almond Cookies! Funny thing is I don't usually eat almond cookies. Look how thick they are - and not sweet at all. The almonds are thinly sliced without a lot of crunch. Delicious dessert or snack. These also make ideal gifts for the holidays. I still stop by at least twice a week for the coconut cream bun. The lady behind the counter hasn't gotten tired of me yet! Lol. She's quite a conversationalist in fact who always provides excellent service. BTW, lady said the almond cookies can keep up to a week, then they'll start to soften up.

I remember bookmarking this place awhile back because I saw a pic of their Portuguese egg tart. I stopped by this small, locally owned business early in the morning and it smelled so heavenly inside. Lots of baked goods, both sweet and savory fresh out of the oven. I ended up buying their baked char su manapua and 3 egg tarts. The bread was nice and soft and slightly sweet. The filling in the manapua is not the typical red meat. It was a brown color and kinda sweet, so it was their own take on it. I really enjoyed it! I ate the whole thing. The egg tarts were really good. Not too sweet and the crust and buttery and flaky. Overall, if you're ever in the area. Check out this local bakery. I guarantee you'll find something you love.

Hmm tried stopping by here since I was in the area. Other reviewers were correct about minimal or no customer service from the owner (?) who's was busy sitting looking at her phone. Maybe I will try their Mililani or Kamakani location. I'm on a search for the best custard buns to take to the mainland. Ending up buying so from Brug.

First of all, they're closed on Mondays. We discovered this gem of bakery through a box of pastries that was given to us. When I saw the name I know I've seen it somewhere but I couldn't recall. Good bakeries are hard to come by in Hawaii for some reason. Although this place has a Japanese name, their pastries are more like Chinese/Asian pastries. It's a tiny place but they have very familiar pastries like hot dog bun, Hong Kong bun, melon bun, azuki swirled bun, ham and cheese roll etc. They are little over $2 but it's worth the price because of generous size. One of my favorite is the azuki swirled bun which is fluffy, light, and perfect to my taste and it's not overly sweet. They have this other fluffy sponge cake that's lightly layered with strawberry jam. It is eggy, light, and yes very fluffy. This bakery is located two doors down from Chun Wah Kam. If I remember it correctly. Parking is free. It is a tiny place as I mentioned so don't hangout in there all day. I will be back for more.

I'm not one to make or bake any snacks so places like CeCe Patisserie is the place for me as they're located in Pearl Kai which is right across from Pearlridge Center and with lots of free parking the convenience is very easy and you can find them right behind Jiffy Lube. Walking in the vibe is so festive and bright with a staff who I believe is a family friend was such a delight describing just about everything in the shop and not missing a beat it was so difficult to decide and I needed quite a bit of snacks...6 to be exact and not refrigerated so it did illuminate a few which made the choices much easier for me. After much browsing it was the tub of Chex Mix as it came in Hurricane, Ranch, Tajin or Everything Bagel seasoning. Love the various flavors and I got three of Hurricane and Everything Bagel and with multiple purchase there was a little discount that's really appreciated :) There was quite a bit of baked goods many are a bit more sensitive and wished they had more of the snacks as they do make great gifts as well but there are cupcakes, banana bread, brownies and cheesecake...so many options is incredible. It seems like they have a food truck as well making this little shop a busy spot in so many ways. Thank you!

I used their website to place an online order the day before, which was pretty user-friendly including pics of the baked goods available. I wanted to get a few pastries for myself to try and bring some poi malasadas for my volunteer group. I saw they also sold sandwiches, which I was unaware of & was happy to see they had a chicken salad sandwich that I ended up ordering. Pick-up was scheduled for 9AM. They are easy to find and located across the street from the Halawa rec center. As other yelpers have mentioned, parking can be tricky but there is ample parking. Just be sure not to park in any stalls marked reserved. When I got there, there were only 2 customers ahead of me, a man in the store, and a lady just outside the door. Apparently they limit the amount of people in the door because of how small the area is and probably same set-up from covid time. Plus if there are already people at the register, there's a sign on the door that says, "the line starts here." So even though I ordered ahead, I still had to wait to get in. They should at least have another employee help with just pick-up orders to move the line along in case customers in front of you have huge orders. After I stood there waiting, 3 more people lined up behind me. Once I got to the counter, the girl had to go in the back to get my order which was already bagged when she brought it to me. It took about 10 minutes altogether from waiting in line to leaving. She was nice and friendly and the front area was kept clean. Poi malasadas, $2 each - good sized and ono, nice & soft, not overly sweet. Blueberry scone, $3.60 - meh, on the dry side & looks like they use frozen blueberries or preserved, not worth it. Butter roll, $1.45 - meh, on the dry side even after warming it. Long john, $3.90 - ono, hands down one of the best I've had. It is a little pricier than other bakeries but it is huge. They do not skimp on the custard, filled to the max & it was tasty, not overly sweet. The only thing I didn't like was there was way too much powered sugar topping, which made the donut part too sweet. Still worth getting & way better than Zippy's. Chicken salad sandwich, $9.75 - one of the best I've had. Wasn't sure what to expect from a bakery but it was delicious & the price was very reasonable. Comes on a soft, sweet bread type roll and packed with chicken salad & lettuce. They also did not skimp on the chicken salad, which was also very flavorful. This sandwich was huge & barely fit the container it came in. I could only eat half because it was so filling. All sandwiches come with a bag of chips. Unfortunately, the website doesn't give you a choice of what you want, they just stuck a bag of fritos in the bag, which I was ok with. I would get this again. Overall, I was pleased with most of the food. Ordering online ahead of time was easy, friendly service at pick-up with a clean area, & ample free parking. I plan to come back and try some other goodies. Support local!
