Through some error in communication, I was driving back from the North Shore early on a Saturday. As I was driving past Mililani, I remembered that Lee's Breakfast Wagon has been on my to-do list for the longest time. Given their limited hours, and the location of my home & work, going to Lee's on the weekday wasn't possible. But now time+opportunity meet, so let's go! Despite its address in Yelp & Google Maps, LBW is located on the CostCo Waipio side of Moaniani Street across from Tony Group Autoplex. LBW is open 5-10 am Monday - Friday, Saturday 6-10 am. Arriving at 7:00 am (1 hour after they open) on a Saturday, there was a small line. It went fast though, and I put in my order. The basic breakfast of rice, eggs, & meat can be customized with: crispy meat, extra rice, extra egg, extra meat, even double breakfast! My order was pretty easy after hearing that their corned beef hash is homemade - breakfast with corned beef hash and add cripsy bacon ($15). Soon after my order was ready, piping hot, and heavy! There wasn't really any place to sit down and eat, so I went back to my car. The wonderful smell of fresh eggs & bacon filled my small car! I dug into the meal, the crispy bacon & corned beef hash really enhanced the taste! Quickly wolfing down about 2/3rds of the plate, I got full. Really impressed with the quantity, they even had additional rice underneath the meats in the small compartments normally used for sides. Ended up taking the rest home as leftovers. Finally able to knock this one off the list. I had to get up EARLY to take my Mom and sister to the airport so took advantage of that. Headed over about 5:30. Had a couple people in front of us waiting on our order but we didn't have to wait long. Got 3 orders of the double breakfast and my wife added the corned beef hash to hers. Paid with cash though I think I heard another customer pay via Venmo. While we were waiting a few people came to pickup phone orders and a few more came to order after us. I'm sure there are many regulars who come here. I think when one of the guys was ordering they already knew what he wanted. Definitely customer focused. Parking was super easy since nothing else was really open at the time. We just rolled up behind the wagon. There was enough food for 3-4 meals for me (I'm not as big an eater as I used to be LOL). One plate had no meat only rice and eggs and the other was bacon and some other sausage. I got royally ripped off (paid $13 for a plate with no meats). I paid $25 for this crap. They weren't even busy so there's no excuse!! Son said his plate was "junk", the meat to rice ratio was off. Said the meats were like dressing on the rice (too much rice) and wasn't that good either. Said not to bother driving all the way over there and to just go Zippy's or McDonalds (closer to home), especially when I told him about the other $13 plate with no meats. Guess I won't be returning to this food truck. I used to go to Lee's when I worked in Campbell Industrial Park for breakfast and lunch almost everyday and never had any problems with the food or my orders. I guess times have changed and the quality of service and food has gone down. Too bad, I used to like getting food from them. Ok, I'm definitely not going back. My husband saw YT video that reviewed this lunch wagon and being breakfast people we had to go and try it out. They give you a massive amount of food and per my husband it was worth it (Hubby paid so I don't know the actual cost) He had 3 eggs over hard and 3 meats bacon, Portuguese sausage and corned beef hash. Since we were quite early, and hungry, we decided to checkout the breakfast food truck parked along the side of the road between Costco and Tony Autoplex. This food truck was constantly quite busy. Although the food looks good for breakfast, being a first timer, I wanted to ask a few questions before ordering. I called 1-1/2 after opening and they were already sold out of my #1 want - corned beef. So I had a # 2 item ready to request and that was taken. Upon pickup, a half hour later, there was no wait. The portions in my 2 orders (polish sausage with 2 eggs over medium and 2 scoops rice) were generous and cooked as requested. Pricing was very reasonable at $10/plate. I call their number (808) 800-1630 before I leave my house and it's ready by the time I get there (about 15 minutes). I keep coming back because no matter how busy they are, they always answer the phone. Nice local guys working this wagon. Old school charm where they recognize you after little while haha. Hard to find places like that nowadays. FYI, they only accept cash so go prepared! Might be a deal breaker for some but nothing major to me. Cash is king. They provide condiments at the wagon (ketchup, sriracha , Tabasco, shoyu, pepper etc.) so you can put whatever you want on your plate.
