Okay, so you're asking why would you go to a water park or lagoon when there's so many awesome beaches in Hawaii and Oahu. Well the simple answer is because we're all looking for something new and different to do once in a while with family and friends. And that exactly why we ended up at Wai Kai. It was a chance to hang out with our kids and friends before they returned to school after the winter break. The obstacle course was a ton of fun, we took advantage of the other water activities too, and we also opted to get a couple cabanas too so we could all hang out. It was perfect for our group of 20. Some of the restaurants were closed the day we went, but the takeout food at The Lookout was delicious. We also enjoyed some cold beverages too. BTW, the Nalo Lounge is a great option for $25/person if you want to store your belonging and take a shower before heading to your ext destination. For local families, take advantage of the kamaaina rates. The family is already excited about going back when the kids are back home this summer.
We had so much fun here! Ironically we were watching Wipeout on TV in the beginning of our trip and here we had our own Wipeout experience. We did the Aquaventure obstacle course and had a blast! You will fall, slip, and be humbled real fast. You need to wear a life vest and there are lifeguards watching. If the obstacle course is not your thing, there is a simulated surf experience or you can kayak, paddle board, or go on their aqua bike.
I was sent out to this place called - "Wai Kai" for work, and as I headed down to the Ewa Beach area, I originally thought I was going to a Golf Club, because "Wai Kai" sure sounded like one of those fancy schmancy golf clubs! Lol! Little did I know, as I approached the property, I realized I wasn't heading to a golf club, but I was actually going to a surf water park. Lol! It was rather slow the day I arrived, I guess because school is already back in session out here in da 808, so all I saw were a few tourists on the property. Wai Kai has an array of fun packages where you can rental a cabana & enjoy your day at the park. There is a man made Lagoon, perfect for water activities like - stand-up padding, kayaking, or even doing the water obstacle course. If your hungry,I noticed there were a few food vendors on the property, as well as a restaurant. The property looks like a great place to hold parties, as park is pretty spacious & clean. If your into surfing, there is a man-made surf park on the property, but you will probably have to see what the rates are to use the surf pool. Overall a really nice property, and you you love water sports, this is the perfect place to check out.
Very fun atmosphere! Great pricing too. We got there at 10 AM and there were plenty of spots still available on the beach. I didn't think it was too crowded either. All of the water activities are very fun and they seem nice and well maintained too. We just did the two inflatable "obstacle courses" and had a blast! Lots of diving platforms, slides, and places to climb around. It was very easy to spend the full three hours in the water. A lot of people complain about the lifejackets that you were required to wear, but I actually was very grateful for it! It made it so I didn't really have to work hard on treading water when I was in the water and I did not get as exhausted as I otherwise would have! We also did the farmers market on Thursday afternoon and it was great! Lots of delicious food truck vendors, plenty of outdoor seating, good prices, plenty of parking too. Overall, a very fun way to spend a day on the island! TIPS & TRICKS: * Be sure to check out all of the fun places to eat!! * We brought waterproof phone cases that we swam with, but there are spots you can reserve a locker. * The big slide is so fun! It took me a while to get the courage to jump, but once I did, it was awesome!!
I'm thinking back on my experience there n am still just wtf so let's just go from start to finish.... 1) Arrival 9am: 4 people sitting there with iPads and papers. Bunch of people arrive and instead of someone just having everyone stand in a line... no it's one worker helping one person, but then stops to help another, forgetting their assisting the first person n it just loops. Everyone waiting learned quickly what needed to be done and just told the workers what they needed to get through. **At no given time does any employee tell us what the packages r what the wristbands r or how just anything even works there** keep this in mind as u read... 2) your finally through! But wait...everything's closed till 12:30. Yes it's not a typo u read that right. 3) you get to ur spot tents up with zero shade. Ask me how... but you'd figure a business would work that out but no. Tied down tents like for parties, some fans around.... No.... 4) getting help: u ask a worker what's the protocol to jump in. Response: idk not my job.... 5) wing it: u go to the a life jacket place, guy looks at u, u look at him, awkward silence. It's like i was just better off going in grabbing a size that would fit and go. But wait! 6) course kiosk: before u jump on they ask u for a party. U say the party u say no, u say well it's under this wristband, they look at it as if it's an alien rock... rolling eyes, bad Attitude... must of got rejected from Hawaiian Air, I mean Alaska.... Idk what's worst.... 7) course: fun, could use a deep clean. Water looks sketch. Lifeguards on their phone behind the floaties. 8) so u pay to go in but everything is Ala cart and timed slots... claps to the chat gpt mba prompt manager. 9) u book a floating cabana... yet randos r just coming up on it as if its not paid for... yet their so strict on party names, wrist bands. 10) food: someone went to Safeway but all the microwaveable and baked pizza wings fries etc. that's what it is. Musubis... just don't.... The food place has about 5-6 workers doing nothing. But look how dirty it is.... 11) the new "store" is a closet of Ross brand rvca surf stuff This place needs new management esp new workers. This place can be amazing, so just get rid of the chat gpt MBA prompter director n someone with real experience n it'll be good
Amazing relaxing place with water fun activities for the young and young once. Place is well maintained and with restaurants , good food and hospitable staffs. Had wonderful sunset with my family. Lots of people visit this lovely place. Thank you to my daughter Ivy and her husband Karlo for bringing us again to wonderful places here in Hawaii.
We have gone to Wai Kai a few times, this was our 2nd time to the Food Truck Thursday evening event. Really enjoyed the location for it. Food trucks set around outside and crafts and market in middle row within the parking lot. The large grassy space was ideal for taking your food with you to sit on provided Mats. We brought chairs. There so many food choices it was hard to decide. We settled two different types of paella split orders from Santi's Paella. Both types were hardy and so Ono, feeding us both with one meal. After filling up on Paella, we found space for a dessert from Hit the Spot Sweets. We built our own with mini slapjacks, bananas, strawberries, whip cream and drizzle of chocolate. By this time we were busting at the seams. The early evening turned to night with beautiful soft colors in the sky and lights from Wai Kai with DJ blaring oldies in the background. Such an ideal way to spend an evening.
As always, Sunday football mornings at The Lookout at Wai Kai is where it's at. Everything here is so much better than going to town. Mahalo Shayla for taking care of our family!
A fun beach getaway if you don't want to fight the traffic to the North Shore or Waikiki. No issues parking, tons of parking. They have a dedicated parking lot. Lifeguards were attentive and made sure that everyone was following the rules, and the staff were very personable. I loved the obstacle course. We did the 3 hours and it was just perfect. It was like its own workout because if you fall in, you will have to lift yourself out or get help from a buddy. Even if you are coordinated, you will get wet. But it was superduper sunny. Make sure you bring sunscreen and reapply often. They have an adult course and a kids course. The kids course start as early as four and life vests are included, so everyone can enjoy regardless of skill level. The cafe had really good food. We enjoyed the chili and cheese nachos. The local drinks seem kind of expensive, but everything else seemed reasonable given today's prices for a takeout lunch. I didn't get to try the wave pool because it was closed for a private event, but it looked super cool. Would definitely come again! Don't forget to check their website for discounts.
What a fun place. We found WaI Kai because there was an ad playing on Hawaiian Airlines as we were landing. Our family had a great time here. The 3 hour pass is plenty of time. If you have older kids, I recommend getting the 2 park pass for the peaks and aqua adventure. It's not just an obstacle course, but lots of slides and things to jump off of. We went on a weekday when it wasn't busy, but I could only imagine what this place is like on a busy day. There is not a lot of shade for people that are just watching. So, get there early for a table or lawn chair. The food is decent and decent prices for kids meals as well. Barrett was our server/bartender and he was so nice and helpful. Overall, we had a great time. Tip: Bring water bottles full of ice and you can refill them with water at the drinking fountain.
This was a fun place to walk around and enjoy the Farmers Market. It was good that this side of the island was dry. Because back in Honolulu it was raining. It was fun and relaxing to get food either at the farmers' market and/or at the food trucks. It was also enjoyable to sit on the lawn and people watch. The backdrop was gorgeous. My wife and I enjoyed watching some people surf.
Our youth group decided to check out Wai Kai for our end of summer activity. It just so happened that it was the weekend before school started and it wasn't overly crowded, surprisingly. We had a group of 6 and many of us had never been here before. Wai Kai was quite easy to find; just plugged into my GPS and drove. I was surprised to see that area and how much development has happened in the last 10 years but I digress. We had purchased the day pass which was all day, from 10:00am - 4:00pm. The full day was a good call cause we lucked out and snagged the last 4 lounge chairs and umbrella. Since we were between the cabanas and the life vest distribution, we got to see all the action. ;D Everyone wears a life vest, which is awesome cause I got tired at one point and was just able to float without having to work hard. I had looked up photos of the space but not any reviews and I thought I knew what to expect...boy was I wrong. I was not expecting to play American Ninja Warrior as I made my way around all the obstacles. I was so worried about having to get up if I fell in so I was really careful in the beginning. I'm old so I went at my own pace and let our kids just go wild. When it started getting hard to get out of the water I took it as a cue that I need to take a break and enjoy being old. I loved watching all the kids run around and play and make friends with other kids who were there. I think many of us really enjoyed the giant slide (I certainly did) and the trapeze swing (which I didn't do). There was a great cafe for lunch that had sandwiches, burgers, and pizza with shave ice and ice cream for the dessert-a-holics like me. :D I enjoyed the club sandwich and kalbi plate. We ate it all! Our kids got Hamburgers and Fries which made me re-think my choice but I was happy with what I got. There was a short break at approximately 1pm so everyone had to come back in. This was nice because it gave time for the people who had only a half day to return their life vests and the people who were just coming in could find seating and get their vests. I relished the short break because it made our kids have to sit and hydrate and talk to one another. Everyone also recharged so that we could go back for more! At around 3:30 I really was feeling my age so I called it quits but the rest of the group stayed out. We had so much fun! This is such a wonderful place to be with family and friends and I HIGHLY recommend. We decided we want to come back again next summer so figuring out how to incorporate it into the already busy summer schedule. read more

We had such a fun time surfing on the wave pool! The drinks are also really good. I wish they have more family friendly tables/seating to watch the surfers but overall really enjoyed it read more

We celebrated my daughter's 12th birthday at Wai Kai and it was everything we hoped for and more! We booked the 10am-1pm AquaBana Mega Lounger, invited a bunch of her friends, and had the ultimate birthday bash on the water. The inflatable obstacle course was a total hit--the kids (and adults ) had a blast. The AquaBana gave us the perfect shady lounge space to relax, eat, and reset between runs. Super comfy, surprisingly spacious, and honestly felt a little VIP. We even tried the fish spa experience in the lagoon... weird but cool! The staff were friendly, facilities were spotless, and everything was really well organized. A few of us were already talking about coming back before we even left. Pro tip:b ring water, and someone with energy--your kids will tire you out! Wai Kai was the perfect mix of fun, chill, and "mom nailed it" energy. Aquaventure review & deets~ Keiki Course- Ages 4-6 years old and adult supervision is required. It's a small course.. Aloha Course- Ages 7+. Tons of obstacles, jumping platforms, and helpful stairs to get back up onto the floating course throughout. Waterfront cabana- So worth it!! I'm so glad we booked the last cabana because boy was it hot. There were some umbrellas over the beach lawn chairs which were free but they seemed to have been taken before 10! Lockers were $5 each. There is also a transportation option to and from your hotel. Life jackets are required no matter how good of a swimmer you are. They close the course twice for breaks during the 10am-4pm session. It's about 30mins long. There were multiple lifeguards stationed around and throughout the course. I called Wednesday and a kind lady picked up and helped answer my questions. If you're a local, make sure to sign up for the Kamaaina membership ID! Also, when planning and gathering those who RSVP'd, call to ensure they have availability if you have a date set in mind. Sometimes they sell out. We celebrated my son's birthday here with his football friends. The boys had a blast! We picked up lunch & desserts at the Boardwalk Cafe. Time seemed to have flown by and I'm so glad we opted for the 10-4pm session instead of the sunset session 4-6pm. The music was bumping, vibes were great and the weather was perfect, we couldn't have asked for anything more. Hubby and I are already planning our next visit. If there was a con, I would probably have to say the green water. It wasn't as stink as I had imagined on the day we went, but up close, it did have a smell..like rotten eggs.. My aunty said there is a free boat on Thursdays where they inform you about the water filtering in and out, if you're concerned. We'll probably swing by as there are night markets here on Thursdays. read more

The AquaVenture Park obstacle course fun as an adult -- for about 20 minutes and then I was done. The kids were able to go for hours, but I will say that it grew more and more crowded as the day went on. In the afternoon, there were some very rough older kids who were being very aggressive with a group of nine and 10-year-olds. When we complained to the lifeguards, they talked to them briefly, but really didn't do anything, and it was clear that the lifeguards were paying no attention to what was going on whatsoever. Furthermore, I do not understand how you can have a water activity oriented place that has bathrooms but no changing room so that you end up with these huge lines for the bathroom because everybody is using the bathrooms to change?! It seems really obvious and like something that these guys should get on fixing right away. read more

We had an amazing time at Wai Kai! The Aquaventure is absolutely worth the price, especially if you're old enough to enjoy the full obstacle course. Make sure to get there before the first break at 12-12:30 to maximize your time. They have two 30-minute breaks from 12-12:30 and 2-2:30. I highly recommend visiting on a weekday to avoid the crowds. I've heard weekends can get so busy that kids have to wait for life jackets--imagine paying $30-$40 just for your kid to wait around half the day! The boardwalk cafe is fantastic with great food at reasonable prices. Although I was shocked that the shave ice is $8, I still wanted to buy two because of how hot it was and how refreshing I knew the shave ice would be. It's the perfect spot for both locals and tourists, and well worth visiting over and over and over again. Next time my husband and I come around, we'll be taking pre-workout and drinking a protein shake because man, that was a workout! Falling will occur, but it's a lot of fun. I suggest bringing a group because it's the craziest game of tag you could play! Don't forget to stop by their Thursday night markets with the most and best local grinds that the west side can offer. Do I think it's better than a waterpark? Honestly, yes. Especially for the price and the simplicity! Overall, Wai Kai is a must-visit! We'll definitely be back. read more
Hands down the best physical activity on the island for the whole family! Such a wonderful atmosphere and all the employees seem pretty happy. It's good that they added this to the west side of the island, added more jobs and gave some people a fun thing to do. We had a nice drink at the lookout restaurant and watched the surfers try the wave pool. They have pizza you can take out as well for the kids. The time to come is at opening, it's empty and you'll have the whole place to yourselves until about 11am. It can get chilly if the wind picks up, my friend used a spring wetsuit when she goes and it's a smart idea. Everyone going to the obstacle course needs to wear a life jacket as well. I forget how fun it is to just wear a life jacket and just float around, I honestly could have done that all day. It should really be an added attraction, just float. Have a fun time and remember, take it easy! You will injure yourself. It's so funny seeing people slip and slide, it's the best thing. Be safe and respect everyone's space and tip well! read more

Great place for family fun for all ages. My family booked the Aqua Venture which is basically a huge inflatable obstacle course on the water. They had a separate section for the smaller kiddos. You need a ticket for the Aqua Venture but if you just want to watch there are tables near the restaurant without paying for a tix. In order to chill by the sand you do require a ticket/band which really didn't seem enforced. There's a coffee shop with snacks and cocktails and a restaurant so you do have options for food. They have a really cool wave pool as well. read more

What a cool place... Wai Kai is a place I was really curious to visit and what better time to spend it than with my bestie's mom since staying in Ewa than to do a short drive to this amazing location she kept asking if we were still in Ewa lol! This super extensive piece of land that only just a fraction is being used has a great start of an idea to create an area for most which is quite an experience. The main level is the attraction "The Lineup" with two channels 30ft and 65ft is a spectacular vision that can be viewed just almost every angle is a sight to see as they surf using the provided surfboard or body board as well and it's open for all skill levels. Surrounded by umbrella shaded tables and with a bar nearby you're able to chill as you watch your loved ones or others ride the waves, food is available at The Lookout that's right above The Lineup giving it's obvious name. On the lower level is the Wai Kai Lagoon where I see some stand up paddling, kayak equipment and even a few paddling out in a swan vessel looks like such a serene way to enjoy the fabulous water views Ewa has to offer and in the midst of that are a few floating cabanas but apparently the site states they have so much more fun items for use this it's amazing! Along with my bestie's mom we were just at awe of it all and wished that her family had found out about this place earlier as it would be a great option for everyone to find their place here to relax, enjoy and have fun. Lots of parking and will definitely be back as every Thursday night they have a Farmers Market with a bunch of local vendors making this place a environment to celebrate all things local. Aqua Adventure today! Went with my friends to take their kids to Aqua Adventure obstacle course & they LOVED IT! Tucked behind the boutique, makai side of the LineUp. Pros: -Family friendly -Something for all ages from keiki to kupuna -Onsite snack shop and bar -Lounge chair seating area (limited umbrella coverage) -Beautiful view of the lagoon Cons: - LIMITED Umbrella coverage If you don't want the CRISPIEST TAN ever , bring sunblock and come swiftly enough to get a lounge chair with an umbrella Lounge chairs are on a first come first serve basis -No Offsite Food or Drink - Small kine price I think the food is overpriced , I wouldn't hype it up to be "spectacular" but it is satisfying enough after all the fun activities . Lol..they are shorthanded which makes them very busy! If you live on the island, faster to go down in person and enjoy the ride...
