I had the wonderful experience of staying at Lanikai Studios for a week over the New Years holiday…read more First off, Pixie and Andy are amazing hosts. I can't say enough great things about them and how welcome they made me feel. From the moment I booked to, when I sadly had to leave, Pixie and Andy took every opportunity to go out of their way and ensure I had the best possible experience. From making thoughtful recommendations, to dropping off delicious snacks, they really made my experience at Lanikai Studios special. As for the location, it is ideally situated across from Lanikai Beach. It's on the end closest to Kailua which is great as it's just a short (not to mention beautiful) walk or bike ride to Kailua town. The beach access is directly across the street making it easy to enjoy the spectacular sunrises and moon rises on one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. The entire place is charming, decorated with island decor inside and out that sets the Aloha vibe. The rooms are clean, very well maintained and most have lanai or balconies. It's the perfect place to unplug, relax and enjoy the ocean. From my room I could hear the waves breaking every night. Lanikai Studios is a magical place in a spectacular location. If you have the opportunity, stay here. You won't be disappointed. It provides a more relaxing, personal and authentic experience than the mega hotels of Waikiki. Mahalo Pixie and Andy

We had most recently booked our stay for our 20th anniversary this month after the state re-opened to visitors. Because of a heartbreaking bureaucratic mishap, we were turned away at the airport and had to fly back to our home in California the next day. Pixie was so understanding and empathetic and told us not to worry about anything. I can't thank her and Lanikai Studios enough for their understanding and delicate handling of a devastating experience. We will be back and will always make Lanikai studios our second home. Mahalo

The big unit has a full kitchen with a dining room table, full fridge, a stove, and an oven. It has a washer and dryer, multiple beds, a TV, a huge couch, and a love seat. The big unit is very spaces, with a parking stool. If you want to park in the parking stool you need to go done the drive way which is narrow, or you can park on the road, which is really safe! The small unit has a queen or king size bed, a mini kitchen, no oven, microwave etc. It has a full size bathroom, and it accessible. I would say the small unit is for two people, ike a couple or a small family with one child. I would 100% come again! You should definitely stay here!

I found this place while searching for bed and breakfast establishments. **Note to readers** Make sure to check for only registered lodgings, Hawaii is having issues with unregistered establishments. Checking for availability was a simple e-mail inquiry, though I could have called as well. Response was prompt and concise. Reserved room through e-mail and called to give them the credit card info. There are two units, both sectioned off from the house with private bathrooms, one with more space and a kitchen. We chose the smaller unit which was cheaper, only $75 a night for the end of January. The place is two blocks from the beach and there are two beach access points nearby. I was nervous, given the low price and my unfamiliarity with Kailua. All my fears were gone the minute I saw the place. A large bed, a private bathroom, a mini-fridge, microwave and toaster oven. Even a television with cable and room for our stuff. While not top of the line, the room was everything I expected. Barbara and her husband were gracious hosts. We had immediate answers to any questions and a nice patio with a pool at our disposal. Bottom line: if you want a nice, simple starting point for your daily excursions, check into Auntie Barbara's now. For the price and amenities offered it can't be beat. It missed four stars for only one reason: parking. The house is set back from the road down a narrow driveway flanked by a concrete wall and a fence. Parking next to the house and getting back out is a nightmare. Thankfully we were able to utilize street parking and walked down the driveway to our unit after the first day.

However, I just decided to see what they had for lunch. There's a bar and a meal place in the back of turtle Cove. Turtle Cove is where you check in for the lodging, and then they also have shops and that type of thing. I wanted to see if the bar could make me a virgin Mai Tai, but they didn't open for another two hours. She said that they open at 3 PM. I'm not sure if that's every day of the week.... So instead, I went over to the snack bar, and I ordered a spam musubi, and an açai bowl. What a combination, eh? The spam musubi was very large, and it was delicious! The rice was tender, and the SPAM was done just right. It took a little bit longer to get my açai bowl, as they are made to order! When I did, I took it out back so I could eat overlooking the ocean. What a beautiful view, just so absolutely peaceful. This is just such an amazing place. The açai bowl was amazing. They were very generous with the toppings, the granola underneath the fruit was very good, and the açai itself was very slightly frozen, it melted perfectly as I went through the meal. Just a total home run. Bellows is a wonderful place for military recreation, let's hope it stays that way. Thank you for being there.
