Came here on Father's Day. My boyfriend put his name on the wait list at around 9:00 am. The hostess said it will be around 30 mins. He received a text just a few minutes saying he was put in the waiting list. Decided to just wait in the car. At around almost 40 minutes after, my boyfriend received a text message saying he was no longer on the wait list. So he decided to walk up to the hostess and ask if our table was ready. Hostess said, I'm sorry I don't have you on our wait list. She asked if it was 2 adults and one child, and he said no as it was under the same name. She just said, it might have been someone on the inside that took us out of the wait list. She said sorry and my boyfriend said nevermind, we'll just go somewhere else. I asked if we could go back on the wait list, but she said yes, but you'd have to wait again and thought it wasn't worth it. She said Happy Father's Day to us. I said Thank you. Holy moly! I don't know what I was expecting when I stopped in here for a mommy-daughter breakfast date, but my mind was blown! This place has exceptional service, delicious food, and the cutest atmosphere. There's a small parking lot in the front but we always manage to find a spot with good luck and timing. You get there and wait outside until the hostess comes out to put you on the waitlist. Our wait was about 40 minutes when we got there at 10:30 am. We ran some errands across the street and when the table was ready a text was sent to my phone. Came to MyCafe for breakfast on a Sunday morning. We got there before 9, and we had to wait about 10 minutes for a table to open up. There's lots of parking in the lot, but the signage about where not to park is a little confusing. I got the flight of pancakes, loco moco, and lox bagel. The flight of pancakes is always a must. We arrived around 9:30 AM and even though there were about four groups ahead of us, the wait wasn't long at all. There's no sign-in list, so just be mindful of your spot in line-the staff periodically comes out to seat guests and check who's next, which keeps things moving smoothly. They have an early morning breakfast special available before 9 AM so I decided to go that route. It included two eggs, pancakes, and your choice of breakfast meat. I chose bacon. It was very simple, but excellent food. The macadamia nut coffee was fantastic. I loved it. If there was any part about my experience, that was less than superb it was probably the middling customer service. A couple times I had to flag down the server just to get some basic assistance like extra napkins or butter for my pancakes. Another time I had to flag someone down to ask for a refill on my coffee and my water. He was early and the place was really not that busy so there was really no good excuse for not paying attention to the customers that you have. But we all have off days so I didn't let it bug me. My overall experience was still pretty good. I would come back here again. My Cafe is more than just incredible food -- it's about the love and aloha the staff put into everything they do. Every time I visit the island, I come here for their Country Fried Steak. I grew up in Virginia on true country fare, and I've had Country Fried Steak from coast to coast -- even make my own -- but nothing compares to My Cafe's. It's the best I've ever had: crispy, tender, smothered in perfectly seasoned gravy, with eggs and potatoes that round it out beautifully. For me, it's reason enough to get on a plane. But what makes this place unforgettable is the people. On my last day before flying back to California, I told the staff this was my last stop before leaving the island and how sad I was it would be awhile before I could return. Just before I drove off to the airport, they came running out with a Banana Mac Nut Waffle -- free of charge -- so my kids could enjoy one more taste of Hawaii. That small act of kindness meant the world to me. It wasn't just food; it was family, it was aloha. That's why I'll always come back. My Cafe has been a breakfast staple for me since my husband and I moved from Pearl City into Kapolei about 10 years ago. The food is consistently good (I'm a huge fan of their benedicts-the hollandaise is next level and has ruined all other Benedicts for me lol). Pre-pandemic my husband and I used to eat inside a decent amount, but there was always a wait (you know it's good when there's a consistent wait!). Nowadays I usually just do takeout and eat at home. It's a small place overall so the tables inside are fairly close together but there are spacers in between that popped up during the pandemic when they were able to reopen for in-restaurant dining and they have kept them. Me and wifey got seated right away; got there around 930ish am but by 10am, the line had about 10 ppl already. Since space is limited, you're pretty close to the table and ppl dining next to you. So if you're into having your space and all that, you might not like the spacing here. So glad I decided to make the trek out to Kapolei to try My Cafe because everything was amazing! I was drawn to this business initially because of their pancake flight, but seeing that they have chicken fried steak as well cemented my decision to go. We were told there was a 30 minute wait when we arrived, but it actually only took about 15 minutes to be seated. The interior is on the small side, with plastic dividers still in between each table. Of course I had to get the pancake flight, as well as the chicken fried steak & eggs. Tip: you can sub one of the pancakes in the flight with their malasada pancake for extra. Definitely do this because the malasada pancake was the best thing we ate and honestly one of my favorite things I've eaten this year so far. It featured fried exterior pancakes dusted in sugar sandwiching a light custard cream. I LOVED how creative and delicious this dish was; it really reminded me of eating a cream filled malasada. It was the perfect size and not too sweet either. I also really enjoyed their cookie butter pancakes. The chicken fried steak I got was huge and really yummy as well. Their gravy is super creamy and rich. I recommend getting their home fried potatoes as a starch. Okay, I did it. I told you guys I was going back with my family! This time, it was a party of 10 and a baby. They were still able to accommodate us on a busy Sunday afternoon, even with the post-church rush. They quoted our wait time 45 mins, which was pretty accurate. I tried the iced coffee, flight of pancakes, and kalua pig hash. Iced coffee does the job well (it's just coffee and ice but I'm fine with that), the flight was so flavorful. I'm not a fan of lilikoi so I can't speak on that. But the cookie butter and coconut haupia? So moist, soft, and just enough to share samples around the table. The kalua pig hash was so delicious as well! It definitely trumps the brisket hash as my new favorite. Only critique is, I don't care for the fried rice. It's over saturated with too much flavors, and it's a little too wet for my taste. But again, you might love it. After dining (since we were the last party), a man who seemed to be either the cook or the owner, asked us how the experience was. I also overheard him telling the girls on staff "great job today". Awesome leadership right there. Pretty cool to see as well some encouragement written on the walls, as they have the fruits of the spirit a part of their decor. Just a nice reminder to be a decent human to others, you know? The family agreed that My Cafe (although pricey), is a new favorite spot. I ordered the Flight of Pancakes and my gf got the Keiki plate. Tip: the Keiki plate portion is a like full size plate for most adults. The regular plates have huge portions. The Flight of Pancakes consists of Mini style Cookie Butta Luva, Chocolate Taro-haupia, & Lilikoi pancakes. This place is known for pancakes they didn't disappoint. There were delicious!
