I have been wanting to go to this café for a long time now it has been in my "Want to go" bookmarks for the longest time especially because they close at 2 PM so you really have to make an effort to go in the morning. I got the chicken karaage which was actually good but sadly the rice was mush. Our second youngest got the flight of pancakes and it looked delicious... she actually finished her food which she rarely does. The eldest got the kamaaina scrambled and it was just ok for her. My fiance got the Belgian waffles and she said it was nothing special.. she actually didn't even finish the one waffle. Food overall was ok. Price wasn't bad but at the same time, portion wasn't that great. For instance, the Belgian waffles only came with one waffle for $12 and to add fruits it's $3 per fruit which they don't top it with much. I'd probably rate it 3, possibly 4 stars if it was just based off the food alone. The service... kind of non existent. So we got seated and checked the menu out but it took a while till someone actually took our order. They only gave a small pitcher of water so it was really only enough for 2 people and even that took a while till someone refilled it. Workers didn't pass by our table very much and so I had to flag down a worker who was helping someone else in order to get water. Rarely do I ever think of not tipping at all but I thought about it here... in the end I did tip but in my honest opinion... I really shouldn't have caved in. Overall... I would go back for take out maybe but only if I'm already near there. Food alone I'd give them 4 stars but because of the terrible service I'd have to bring it further down. If you want the definition of a hole in the wall, come here for sure but don't let the ambiance turn you off. When coming in the doors I was a little turned off by the looks of the place. It seemed a tad run down with everything not spotless, and deliveries piled up in the corner (not food). However, the food smelled amazing and the menu art quality on the walls was amazing. We stayed for the EPIC reviews it had gotten which is what drew us in. The food is incredible! Every dish was cooked to perfection and the flavors were on point. From savory to sweet they have it down. The fried rice moco loco was ENORMOUS and all of the meats were perfectly cooked - not a single dry piece throughout. It's a Saturday early morning and all the tables were taken. Well except for one-two seater which was perfect for me. As busy as they were, the staff was friendly and accommodating. It's a nice mom and pop feel with a pane of pexi-glass between tables. It feels like private tables. I had a cup of coffee served in a nice ceramic cup labeled with their name on it. I had a bowl of loco moco which was very good. The gravy was well seasoned and it went well with the white rice. The hamburger itself was flavorful and heavy, just the way I like it. Holy moly! I don't know what I was expecting when I stopped in here for a mommy-daughter breakfast date, but my mind was blown! This place has exceptional service, delicious food, and the cutest atmosphere. I love all the artwork and chalk drawings and painting on the walls, and the menu is presented so creatively on the wall too! It was clean and everyone was very kind. There's a small parking lot in the front but we always manage to find a spot with good luck and timing. You get there and wait outside until the hostess comes out to put you on the waitlist. Our wait was about 40 minutes when we got there at 10:30 am. We ran some errands across the street and when the table was ready a text was sent to my phone. My son ordered and loved the banana pancakes that came with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. My husband ordered the Kamaaina scramble that has all the local meat favorites, garlic and cheese in it. There's lots of parking in the lot, but the signage about where not to park is a little confusing. I got the flight of pancakes, loco moco, and lox bagel. The flight of pancakes is always a must. My Cafe has been a breakfast staple for me since my husband and I moved from Pearl City into Kapolei about 10 years ago. The food is consistently good (I'm a huge fan of their benedicts-the hollandaise is next level and has ruined all other Benedicts for me lol). Pre-pandemic my husband and I used to eat inside a decent amount, but there was always a wait (you know it's good when there's a consistent wait!). Nowadays I usually just do takeout and eat at home. I finally got the chance to eat at My Cafe after having it on my "to dine" list for years. We stopped by at 9 am on a weekend and were able to get a seated with no wait. The restaurant is relatively small and cozy and started to get busy as we ate. We took a while to decide on our order but service was accommodating and attentive. I loved that they left a water carafe at the table because I always need refills. The Country Fried Steak was delicious and served with a thick, homemade chorizo gravy. The B.E.A.S.T. Came here on Father's Day. My boyfriend put his name on the wait list at around 9:00 am. The hostess said it will be around 30 mins. He received a text just a few minutes saying he was put in the waiting list. Decided to just wait in the car. At around almost 40 minutes after, my boyfriend received a text message saying he was no longer on the wait list. So he decided to walk up to the hostess and ask if our table was ready. Hostess said, I'm sorry I don't have you on our wait list. She asked if it was 2 adults and one child, and he said no as it was under the same name. She just said, it might have been someone on the inside that took us out of the wait list. She said sorry and my boyfriend said nevermind, we'll just go somewhere else. I asked if we could go back on the wait list, but she said yes, but you'd have to wait again and thought it wasn't worth it. She said Happy Father's Day to us. I said Thank you. I'm not sure if it's there check in/online message system that was not cooperating. Hopefully if we do plan on coming here and trying again, we don't end up with same experience. I was recently at My Café in Kapolei. I had stopped by for an early breakfast before getting my day started. I happened to be by myself this time so I thought I would keep things simple. They have an early morning breakfast special available before 9 AM so I decided to go that route. It included two eggs, pancakes, and your choice of breakfast meat. I chose bacon. It was very simple, but excellent food. The macadamia nut coffee was fantastic. I loved it. If there was any part about my experience, that was less than superb it was probably the middling customer service. A couple times I had to flag down the server just to get some basic assistance like extra napkins or butter for my pancakes. Another time I had to flag someone down to ask for a refill on my coffee and my water. He was early and the place was really not that busy so there was really no good excuse for not paying attention to the customers that you have. But we all have off days so I didn't let it bug me. My overall experience was still pretty good. I would come back here again. And I don't have a problem recommending this place for people that just want good fresh breakfast at the type of place the locals eat at. read more

(Late Review from April 6, 2025) This is a late review from my visit in April, but the experience I had at My Cafe in Hawaii was so memorable I had to share it. My Cafe is more than just incredible food -- it's about the love and aloha the staff put into everything they do. Every time I visit the island, I come here for their Country Fried Steak. I grew up in Virginia on true country fare, and I've had Country Fried Steak from coast to coast -- even make my own -- but nothing compares to My Cafe's. It's the best I've ever had: crispy, tender, smothered in perfectly seasoned gravy, with eggs and potatoes that round it out beautifully. For me, it's reason enough to get on a plane. But what makes this place unforgettable is the people. On my last day before flying back to California, I told the staff this was my last stop before leaving the island and how sad I was it would be awhile before I could return. Just before I drove off to the airport, they came running out with a Banana Mac Nut Waffle -- free of charge -- so my kids could enjoy one more taste of Hawaii. That small act of kindness meant the world to me. It wasn't just food; it was family, it was aloha. That's why I'll always come back. But now that all the other eateries have raised prices, understandably so because of employee raises and supply increases, this doesn't seem pricey. I don't think they've raised the prices as much as other places. So with prices in line with Zippy's but better tasting AND with large portions of food, this is looking like a good deal. The draw backs are 1)parking is often hard to find since there are other eating places and popular businesses and 2) the wait time. The restaurant is small so unless you go on "off times" there's going to a wait. But it isn't too bad as there is quick turn over, no one lingers. read more

While it's a beef patty and not steak, the crispy fry and delicious gravy really make this dish. The pancakes are also super good and way better than traditional ones. If you're staying in Ko Olina it's worth a visit to nearby Kapolei for breakfast as their offerings are way tastier and more reasonably priced than what the resorts have to offer.
