Getting there took us some time- A) my husband and I were driving from the Aiea area to Ewa Beach... on a Friday afternoon, and B) parking was a pain, but we were able to find street parking pretty quickly. We knew what we were getting into before our drive, and I'm so glad we did because it was well worth the trip! The ice cream shop is fairly small- can't hold a lot of people and no seating inside, but there's plenty of tables outside, and the weather outside was just perfect with some sun and a breeze! The line moves quickly, so ordering isn't a pain at all! I ordered their calamansi dreamsicle and my husband got their root beer float, and both were 10/10! I wish I had a bigger stomach so I could've tried more of their flavors (like their strawberry guava one)! First off, the calamansi dreamsicle was really refreshing and creamy; it had hints of citrus, with a lemon/orange taste, perfect for a warm summer afternoon! My husband had the root beer float, which had their house-made vanilla ice cream and root beer from Maui Brewing Company (I didn't even know they made root beer)! It was delicious as well- I loved that I was able to see little black specks of vanilla bean in the ice cream, and the root beer had hints of honey in it! My husband and I knew the root beer tasted different (in a good way), but couldn't put our finger on it until I read the ingredients and saw that honey was one of them! Super yummy!! I finally visited Sage Creamery's brick-n-mortar. They are situated in East Kapolei: east of Second (son) City; west of 'eva the beaccch; north of UH West Oahu and Hawaii Tokai International College. Parking...I was searching for it. Street parking is available but difficult to come by near the store. They are in a plaza on the corner of Hoomohala Avenue and Kauluakoko Street. Domino's is a neighboring tenant. Small inside...but there are tables outside the storefront. They offer beverages: lattes and such. But I was here for Sage's ice cream. A single scoop is $6; double is $9; a pint is $14. Got a single scoop of one of their signature flavors, Kaua'i Kulolo. Fantastic with bits of kulolo imbeded in each sweet and creamy scoop. Hours are from 12 noon till 800p, from Wednesday thru Friday. Weekends they operate from 800a to 800p. Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. read more

My sister mentioned this ice cream spot recently opened near her house, and when I looked at the flavors, I definitely wanted to check it out. We stopped by at around 2:30 on a Saturday. I tried the mango sticky rice and Laie snow cream, and also ordered a mint mojito iced coffee. The mango sticky rice was just okay but I really liked the snow cream. The mint mojito coffee was great too (reminded me of Philz coffee) but could have used way less ice in it. Decided to come here and there wasn't much street parking, so I parked in the guest parking in the townhome area. Luckily it was allowed! There were 3 workers and the line was moving quickly. Unfortunately they were out of the hapa matcha, which was the one I really wanted to try, but there were many other flavors that I wanted to try as well. While we were visiting O'ahu we did some research on Yelp and found this fun ice cream spot in a new housing development. We found street parking and walked over. The store is small, but they have some seating outside if you'd like to enjoy your ice cream right away. Thay had pints and drinks available in the cold case as well as scoops, coffee and keiki milk. We opted for a scoop of their lilikoi honey ice cream ($6) and took it outside to eat. It was a nice treat, I liked the flavor combination but wished the passionfruit flavor was a bit stronger. This is a great ice cream shop for our community in Kapolei/Ewa Beach. The shop is located in between the Hoopili and Uh West Oahu Skyline stops so easy access! One viral clip got me searching for this special creamery outside of town. Their Hapa Matcha was our target, but not before we ate lunch. We ventured out to Wahiawa for lunch at noon and I hoped to surprise my wife with some delicious ice cream once we were done. Since our daughter usually brings us our Sage fix (she lives right behind) I asked if I could just put the purchase on her rewards account. Hubby got Lemon Crunch (he likes this flavor - has gotten it before) and I got the mango sticky rice. His has such a nice light flavor, and mine was coconutty (is this a real word?) ice cream with mango syrup drizzled over the top - so good! No sticky rice (I was forewarned) but it didn't matter, it all came together and was very reminiscent of mango sticky rice. I would definitely get it again! First off, how dare people say Sage Creamery is expensive. I get it, Sage costs more than that chain with 31 flavors or a huge tub of Meadow Gold ice cream, but those ice creams don't compare to Sage! Instead of thinking "Sage is expensive," think "oh goodie! I'll treat myself to special ice cream!" Surely, you can't expect Mango Sticky Rice ice cream to cost as much as mass-produced Jamoca Almond Fudge or Costco ice cream? Hubby and I live dangerously close to Sage Creamery that I've lost count how many times we've picked up treats from here. It's a cute little ice cream shop. I went in on a Saturday afternoon and was the only customer. There was a bunch of street parking in front of the store so parking was easy. There were two girls working the front and they were really friendly! The sad part about this shop is that they don't give any free samples, but we weren't disappointed with what we got. I got rhe Strawberry Matcha Latte and my boyfriend got two scoops (Ube Crinkle Cookie & Diamond Head Torte which is PB+Banana+oreo). It all cost around $18. What knocks down the score are the outrageous prices. The signature latte was off of the small menu and didn't have a price. The drink tasted mostly of strawberry. The ice cream flavors were delicious, but for that size I would rather go to Black Sheep and feel more fulfilled. We try to visit Sage Creamery at least once a month to try the new rotating flavors. Our strategy is to get two double scoops to try as many new flavors as we can and then grab a pint of our favorite. This month we have grabbed a pint of Makaha Sun (which is mango and guava) twice so far. Their ice cream is fantastic (rich, creamy) and flavors are thoughtfully crafted. But what really deserves a special shoutout is their sorbets because the ice crystals are very fine which gives it a creamy mouthfeel. And the flavors are bold and refreshing. We came to try the Lychee Rose and on a hot evening like today, it was a great way to cool down. If you're into floral flavors, you need to try the pikake oat tea latte. I know this sounds odd, but it tastes exactly like how pikake smells (in the best way though!). The drink is well balanced with their homemade jasmine syrup and the drink is not too sweet. Another highlight is that they are dog friendly! There's a water bowl right at the entrance and they even offer Rolo's pup cups (goat yogurt, banana, peanut butter, carrots, seaweed and smelt). My pup wasn't sure at first because it was a bit too frozen for her liking, but once it softened up, she was able to enjoy it. Staff are very nice and welcoming when you enter. Service is quick. There are tables outside with umbrellas so you can enjoy your treats and kinda beat the heat of the Westside sun.
