My sister mentioned this ice cream spot recently opened near her house, and when I looked at the flavors, I definitely wanted to check it out. We stopped by at around 2:30 on a Saturday. I tried the mango sticky rice and Laie snow cream, and also ordered a mint mojito iced coffee. The mango sticky rice was just okay but I really liked the snow cream. The mint mojito coffee was great too (reminded me of Philz coffee) but could have used way less ice in it. The people working here were really nice and patient as we decided what we wanted. I decided to get 2-scoops: cookies and cream and coffee Oreo, and my husband got 2-scoops: cookies and cream and chocolate haupia. This is a great ice cream shop for our community in Kapolei/Ewa Beach. The shop is located in between the Hoopili and Uh West Oahu Skyline stops so easy access! We ventured out to Wahiawa for lunch at noon and I hoped to surprise my wife with some delicious ice cream once we were done. She loves hojicha and matcha so I assumed the mix of both would be amazing. Parking was thankfully easy to find on the street. We waltzed into the shop. Clean, wood accents. Friendly staff. And a sign that says "Hapa Matcha Sold Out." We were too late, but luckily for us... they have a lot of other flavors. Lemon Crunch caught my eye. It's been quite a while since we'd had the opportunity to have that moment where you taste a new flavor of something and immediately love it. We opted for a scoop of their lilikoi honey ice cream ($6) and took it outside to eat. It was a nice treat, I liked the flavor combination but wished the passionfruit flavor was a bit stronger. First off, how dare people say Sage Creamery is expensive. I get it, Sage costs more than that chain with 31 flavors or a huge tub of Meadow Gold ice cream, but those ice creams don't compare to Sage! The ice cream flavors were delicious, but for that size I would rather go to Black Sheep and feel more fulfilled. Our strategy is to get two double scoops to try as many new flavors as we can and then grab a pint of our favorite. This month we have grabbed a pint of Makaha Sun (which is mango and guava) twice so far. Their ice cream is fantastic (rich, creamy) and flavors are thoughtfully crafted. But what really deserves a special shoutout is their sorbets because the ice crystals are very fine which gives it a creamy mouthfeel. And the flavors are bold and refreshing. We came to try the Lychee Rose and on a hot evening like today, it was a great way to cool down. If you're into floral flavors, you need to try the pikake oat tea latte. I know this sounds odd, but it tastes exactly like how pikake smells (in the best way though!). The drink is well balanced with their homemade jasmine syrup and the drink is not too sweet. Another highlight is that they are dog friendly! There's a water bowl right at the entrance and they even offer Rolo's pup cups (goat yogurt, banana, peanut butter, carrots, seaweed and smelt). My pup wasn't sure at first because it was a bit too frozen for her liking, but once it softened up, she was able to enjoy it. Staff are very nice and welcoming when you enter. Service is quick. There are tables outside with umbrellas so you can enjoy your treats and kinda beat the heat of the Westside sun. The Strawberry Guava flavor tasted tart-y, though it isn't a favorite of mine. Thy also offer some drinks. We have now been coming here as a usual thing every Friday night. Looks like they do update the menu with new things! So know that your favorites might not be there next time. I'd say these guys are consistent with great ice cream. The flavors hit hard and you don't get too much of that dairy after taste. Usually I come here for the ice cream, but this time I tried the iced matcha latte (with coconut milk) and it was delish! They make their own syrups, which are subtle and not overpowering -- the perfect balance. A little pricey, but honestly worth it. I came in to get an end of the week treat. Me and my kids each picked out a different flavor ice cream. We had the ube crinkle cookie, coffee oreo, kulolo and I also got a mango sticky rice for a friend. Everything was delicious and creamy! It really was hard to narrow it down to the best one. I also needed a pick me up so I went with their suggestion of an ube latte. It was so good that it didn't make the short drive home. The strawberry matcha was for my friend and said she loved it as well. The employees who helped us were very patient and extremely kind. They even made my son's ice cream extra special with sprinkles and made a face with a mouth. He was so excited about it! Thank you THANK YOU! It made his whole day. Everything is perfect! Customer service is amazing, its adorable and clean and smells So good! The iced vanilla bean latte is killer! Their syrups are made in house, and it was it was a perfect balance of vanilla. Vanilla ice cream is so ridiculous! We got the Affogato and I must admit I do regret sharing it my hubby! It was absolutely Perfect!!!! All coffee local and freshly roasted! Park in the back in guest parking in the apartment building and walk thru the little door walk way by the mailboxes to walk inside.
