Just found this place recently after many years of just hitting the Foodland next door and it never disappoints. Plenty of flavors to try, but we keep going back for the taro and melon flavor yogurts. The toppings are plentiful and constantly stocked. I like the indoor and outdoor seating. The self-serve aspect is nostalgic and the cashiers have always been kind. Will be back here to try more flavors and combos.
This place is always super packed but very organized. The staff is tremendous and friendly and keeps the line moving along. My only regret is they don't have green tea flavor often enough. My grandkids love this place and so do I. And I like the ambiance. The place is clean. It has a variety of great flavors to choose from and we have become regulars. Please add green tea flavor more often is my only request.
This place is reminiscent of Yogurtland, Menchies etc. where there are several flavors to choose from and the toppings are self-serve. The flavors when we were there included Tart, Strawberry Shortcake, Lychee, Coffee, Taro, Blue Vanilla, and Cotton Candy. There are many toppings such as various fruits, cookie dough, mochi, marshmallows, brownies, nuts, and crushed Oreos. It's also one of the only frozen yogurt places on island so it gets very busy. The tables inside are usually full so it's best to eat outside or in your car. The parking can also be tough if you go during a busy time (like Friday nights). But if you're craving froyo, it's worth it!
In shopping strip, so there's lots of parking. Lots of local flavors like Samurai blue vanilla & honeydew, lychee and dole whip. Unsure if you can get samples since there are no sample cups by the bowls. Also liked the li hing sprinkle. Sad tht Menchies is gone and this is one of the few froyo places on the island.
Always hits the spot. Went here with the family after dinner and it always hits the spot. They have many flavors to choose from, many toppings to pick from... just be careful cause you don't really think about the price when filling your cup and next thing you know, cups overflowing and you're spending almost $50 on 3 people for just desert. Cherry on top is always packed with people... crazy busy even when it's near closing so be prepared to eat in the car because seats are very limited. It is self serve and line isn't usually long nor is the wait. It is a bit noisy in there due to the fact that everyone hangs out after getting their frozen yogurt. It's a great place to get desert and it has always been one of our go to for desert but like I said... don't go crazy when filling your cup. It's funny because I go crazy when filling my cup but often times I end up grabbing way more than I should... make sure you have water to wash all that sugar down.
Great and fun place to chat with family and friends! Yummy solid flavors like Dole whip and Hawaiian Blue Vanilla! Theres also classic toppings such as fruits, sprinkles, mochi, Oreo, etc. Come with your family for an after dinner desert treat and enjoy!
I love froyo and honestly didn't know this place was here lol. So many frozen yogurt shops closed down through the years and I forgot how good it was. I got the taro and plain/original flavor. The taro is still one of my favorite froyo flavors. They have a lot of toppings to choose from here and there are plenty of tables to sit outside at.
Dessert in Pearl City, O'ahu, Hawai'i... My nieces were so excited when my sister offered to take us to Cherry on Top. It was amazing that these townie girls knew what this was! I had been to this self-service, soft-serve frozen dessert shop in the past, but i didn't get anything because it was so crowded and I didn't know if there were any dairy-free options. This time, the cozy shop wasn't that packed, so we got a chance to see all of the flavors and all of the toppings. We even got a seat inside! It's a clean, bright space with lots to look ar and ponder over. At the end, the cup gets weighed and that's how the price is determined. I got Dole Whip with Fruity Pebbles for color and crunch... and mochi balls for their chewiness. Yum! This was a fun experience! Thanks for the friendly, efficient service and free shared parking!
Five stars. The selection of frozen soft serve desserts (food) were incredible. They have the original tart, honeydew melon, dole pineapple, pumpkin, & much more! The service was friendly and fast to checkout. Great stuff! The ambiance was clean and neat. No mess at the toppings bar and clean.
Cherry On Top is hands-down my favorite froyo spot on the island ! They have such uniquely Hawaiʻi flavors - you won't find this lineup everywhere. Taro completely surprised me (never thought I'd love it in froyo form, but wow), and the lychee is light, clean, and insanely refreshing. It's always busy when I stop by, which tells you everything you need to know. My cup usually lands around $10, and it's absolutely worth it with the generous toppings and quality
Hands down everyone we come here.the best. Parking: lots of parking so don't worry. Service: everytime we come here no matter what time it is. ALWAYS the best service. The workers there are super friendly & nice. Very neat & clean. The looooice getting my usual my original tart with mochi balls & white chocolate chips. My kids always gets a different flavor but we love that they have lots of flavors to choose from. Also so many toppings to add on top. My kids just loves adding so much lol. Would we come back? ALWAYS!

I loved the Hawaii-exclusive flavors. All refreshing, not too sweet. Delightfully tart! I always get mochi as topping, so I was happy to see it was offered. Fresh fruit is also a must for me! Delicious! Lots of seating, though it gets pretty crowded quickly. You can sign up for their rewards program with a phone number for discounts!

It makes my heart happy to see a locally owned business thriving after so many years! Cherry On Top is always busy and it is entirely well-deserved. What amazes me most is how spotlessly clean and well-kept everything is. Food safety and cleanliness are huge for me and there is always a worker diligently wiping down counters and keeping the topping station tidy. Speaking of the toppings, the selection is incredible! The fruit is always incredibly fresh, and the variety of choices seems endless. Plus, they always have a wide range of frozen yogurt flavors for every taste type and the machines are always fully working and ready to go. Even when the line is out the door, the friendly staff keeps things moving fast. While indoor seating is limited, there are a few spots outside, or you can easily do what we do and pack up your sweet treat to go and enjoy it at home. Honestly, writing this review is making my mouth water, guess I know where we're heading sometime soon. read more
Froyo is back! And cherry on top is taking off by storm. Definitely gives me the nostalgia of yogurtland and menchies. Build your own bowl to your liking. It's .79/oz and that actually comes out to be very cheap. Lots of flavors like tart, banana, samurai vanilla, honeydew, lychee tart and others! Toppings include almonds, granola cracker, fresh fruit, cheesecake, sprinkles, and many more. It's an adorable dessert stop and would recommend. It was packed when we went! We had dinner in the area and stopped by for dessert. Judy C. showed us this place a while back and we liked it. This place is always busy. People must love frozen yogurt. You grab a bowl, fill it with the soft serve of your choice and put on your toppings. It's charged by weight. It's $0.79 for an oz. When you check out, they put the bowl on the scale and they tell you how much your bowl is. Our bowl came out to 13.8 oz. and we paid around $11. The flavors they had today were vanilla, chocolate, coffee, yellow cake batter, strawberry, original tart, taro, lychee tart, Hawaiian Delight, Dole Whip, Samurai Blue Vanilla and Samurai Honeydew. We got the Hawaiian Delight and Dole Whip swirl topped with tiny mochi bits. Both of the flavors blended well. The Hawaiian Delight tasted like strawberry guava and on the sweeter side. The Dole Whip was pineapple and on the tart side. It was perfect on this hot day. read more

YES!! Loved this placed so much! The frozen yogurts are super yummy and they have a big variety of toppings to choose from. It is self serve so you make it just how you want it!!! Cute fun fresh vibe. Love the location of this place. So convent, perfect for a stop on after grocery shopping at Foodland. read more

Cherry on Top is a great place for families! My kids have been loving this for as long as they've been open. The flavors they offer now are somewhat unique - as far as what I know about frozen yogurt - and they sure are sweet & delicious! If you're a toppings-lover, you'll be pleased with the variety. Toppings range from the standard peanuts and sprinkles, to popping boba and canned lychee. I also spotted marshmallow drizzle! If you plan to dine in, there's a few tables inside and outside, and the place is kept quite warm so you can eat in comfort. Usually, there's a young adult working the front. The other day when we went in, the person was working solo and she definitely held that place down. She stayed busy cleaning around the machines and toppings station in between working the register, and she was friendly!! 5 stars for her! :) The prices are listed on the wall when you grab your bowl. For myself and 2 kids, the total came out to $24... yikes!! Guess you pay for the freedom of trying the variety and customization. That's my only reason for knocking off 1 star. Enjoy! :) read more

I've been here a few times and decided to treat my sister in law and niece to this wonderful place. My favorite soft serves are chocolate and coffee topped with brownie chunks and chocolate syrup. My sister in law had 4 different soft serve flavors with sprinkles and my niece 2 different flavors also with sprinkles. Whichever soft serve or toppings you choose you won't be disappointed. You get to serve your own soft serve and add your own toppings. The price is by weight. The store is small and cozy. The team is very friendly and pleasant. My sister in law and niece loved their soft serves and are looking forward to coming back soon. And I will be right there with them. read more
It's been a while since we came here and we decided why not since we were in the area and not completely satisfied from the meal we just had at OH My Grill. The 1st thing that I noticed and did not like was that they did away with the sample cups. This wouldn't be a problem if they always had the same flavors but they don't. This almost made me not order anything at all but I decided I would just get a small cup of the strawberry and original tart mix because I knew I liked that flavor from ordering in the past. My kids loaded up their cups, but also stuck with what they knew because they didn't want to try something new that they couldn't sample and regret it. I like that they offer pre packed toppings as well as self serve options. I would come back again for my usual frozen treats but would really like if they brought back the samples because that would make me want to come back more often to try the different flavors. I also wish they would change up the decor and add more comfortable seating options. read more

Came here on a Saturday for something sweet. It was really busy and filled with teenagers. Located in Pearl City by Foodland Farms in the corner. The line took a while as it is self serve frozen yogurt & the condiments/toppings are also self serve. The fresh fruit toppings are great as you see them slicing the strawberries and restocking right there too. The staff there are nice, it was a clean place, and lots of lighting with few seating available. Would recommend coming here again but if you don't like the crowd, don't come a weekend night since this might be the go to hang out spot for teens. read more
Cherry On Top in Pearl Highlands (right next to Foodland and Oh My Grill) is the kind of classic froyo spot we used to have everywhere--and I'm so glad this one is still around! They have a solid variety of flavors and all the toppings you could want, making it easy to build your perfect bowl. Pricing is pretty standard for self-serve froyo--around $10-15 for a normal-sized bowl for us--but it's worth it for the fun of mixing and matching flavors & toppings. We stopped by on a Saturday night, and there was a line, but everything moved quickly, and all the flavors and toppings were fully stocked. If you're craving a classic froyo experience, this is the place to go! Definitely a great little dessert stop in the area. read more

Cherry on Top is my go-to frozen yogurt spot and for good reason. I almost always get the original tart flavor, which is perfectly tangy and refreshing. If I'm in the mood to switch it up, I'll go for lychee or pineapple which is Dole Whip; both are equally delicious. Toppings? I don't mess around. My usual lineup includes sliced almonds, fresh strawberries, fresh kiwi, lychee, fresh pineapple, mango jelly, and a mix of popping Boba (mango or passionfruit), finished off with a few maraschino cherries because it's not Cherry on Top without actual cherries on top. Pricing is by weight, which is great when you want to control portion size (or not). The place is usually pretty clean, and I've noticed the staff is always walking around tidying up, which I really appreciate. It's a chill, satisfying stop every time. read more
The service was good. Greated promptly and asked if we understood how their system was. The place was clean, but lacked a friendly vibe. Maybe it was the lack of color or music? Not sure, but didn't give off a fun atmosphere. The food was really hit or miss. I got plain reliable ones like vanilla and dole whip, but my husband got more exotic flavors that were terrible. Ended up throwing away the one that tasted like capri sun. It was too sweet. The lychee would have been good, but it was yogurt instead of soft serve which was pretty gross. Price was a bit expensive, so I wish they let you sample the flavours before committing to one. read more

Once upon a time, there were a handful of soft serve frozen yogurt (froyo) establishments that took the nation into a craze. While growing up in the islands, I recall Yami Yogurt, TCBY, and recently Menchie's and Tutti Frutti that sadly all closed. As a townie, I loved going to Ward with family and friends to have a cold and sweet treat. Last week I drove to Pearl City to celebrate a friend's birthday and during our meal I shamelessly blurted "Where are we going for dessert?" Several places were mentioned but after factoring in convenience and parking, it was agreed that we'd head over to Cherry on Top (CT). Located in Pearl City Gateway with well known businesses as Foodland Farms, McDonald's, Rokaru Shabu Shabu, and Petco, CT offers froyo where you customize your cup with a combination of flavors and an impressive selection of toppings. Just gotta love this location with ample free parking but we were in awe as we noticed CT was packed with so many people inside and outside their store. I appreciate the bright yet simple decor of CT. It was very spacious, inviting and upbeat with their heavy foot traffic. Luckily, 2 tables vacated as we entered and that was just right to sit our group of 9. We lucked out again as there wasn't a line so our group easily maneuvered their self serve station. For me personally, I don't like to mix sweet flavors and fruity combination so my decision was made when Dole Whip was the first flavor in the lineup. It's been YEARS since I last had Dole Whip. ***happy dance*** My other choices were taro and lychee to make it a trio of flavors. Although it's unconventional and clashing in my books, I spooned chopped peanut butter cups and topped it on my froyo. I was first in line of my group so I was ready to pay for my cup but a huge Mahalo to Allen N. for picking up our tab. Had I known ahead of time, I would have used the larger cup and pile my froyo higher! Hahaha... The froyo was so refreshing and absolutely delicious. The Dole Whip brought me back those road trips where I would take out-of-town guests around the island and make a pit stop at Dole Plantation. The taro was also delicious - so creamy with a subtle taro flavor that didn't have that starchy texture. The lychee was semi tart but still sweet - a good balance that had me spoon froyo into my mouth. My friends also enjoyed their froyo and realized I forgot to top my cup off with a maraschino cherry. No cherry on top for me. Awwwww....... Overall, a fabulous first visit where I'd be game for a return visit. CT resembles Yogurtland in California. Sadly, I'm a townie and rarely go to Pearl City. I don't see myself making a special trip to CT from town just for their froyo but wouldn't mind to make a pit stop for a cool treat should I be on that side of the island. read more
What can I say this yogurt place is pumping. For a Sunday night it was crowded. Cherry on Top is located next door to the Foodland Farms in Pearl city They have all kinds of flavors as you can see in my video. I selected Honeydew Melon, Blue Vanilla and cake batter. My topping was Cherry, sprinkle, white chocolate chips and that's it. They go by weight so I didn't want to keep on adding before my yogurt will be $20 lol . Several tables are available inside the establishment and tables outside as well. I believe this is the only self service yogurt place still in business . I know Tutti Frutti next door to Black angus is close . If you're in the area stop on by Cherry on Top you won't be disappointed. Support local read more

Our group group decided to try Cherry on top for our after dinner dessert. This is a build your own BYO frozen yogurt place. It was very busy when we got there, so we waited a few minutes outside until the line got shorter. One from our group spotted an open table of four open up, so she sat there to save it. I saw another table open up, so I sat down there. When I went thru the line, I selected Melon as my flavor. The selections of toppings were numerous, although I would of like fresh fruit like pineapple and melon. In all the service was excellent. Fast and friendly. Enjoy read more

I've been craving froyo for so long, and I was finally able to make the drive out to Pearl City for Cherry on Top! It was so delicious and refreshing, and definitely hit the spot. I miss the Tutti Frutti in town. There's a Yoajung in town too, but it's not the same--at Cherry on Top, you get to create your own froyo bowl, which I love. You grab a cup, fill it with your choice of flavors and as much as you want, then head to the toppings bar to load up on candies, sauces, fruits, and more. Afterward, you weigh your cup at the register and pay by weight. I found that the original tart flavor makes a great base if you want to add toppings. Otherwise, I felt like the toppings overpowered the taste of other flavors I tried, like matcha and coffee. The lychee tart flavor was by far my favorite. Unfortunately, they don't give out sample cups anymore due to COVID, but all the froyo flavors I chose hit the spot regardless. There's plenty of seating both indoors and outside. I wish they had a location in town, but maybe it's for the best since I'd probably go all the time! read more
