Fantastic little ice cream shop right next to Costco. Parking can sometimes be a challenge depending on the time of day but it's definitely worth the visit. You can even make it a pre-Costco shopping delight stop. The menu is always changing but it feels like there's always something delicious to be had. My favorite is the Rocky Road where they actually add marshmallows on top and toast it for you. The Buttah Cakes has also been a recent gem that we've tried lately and it's absolutely delicious. Since it's freshly made, it's rich, creamy, and even a little scoop goes a long way. They even make waffle cones in store if you want to spruce things up for your dessert experience. The staff are friendly and handle rushes of customers well for the size of the shop. We're lucky to have a great shop like this in central Oahu so you don't have to drive all the way to town for a great ice cream fix. read more

I have been coming here since they were first open but I have not gotten around to reviewing them until now. I was craving ice cream. Let's just say this place changed A LOT over the past years. Service: 3/5 Waited about 5 minutes to get my order taken. There was a couple in front of me and the worker was chatting with them only. I was not aware of what she was doing until I realized I was waiting for a bit so I looked for myself and saw she was making a waffle cone. Would have appreciated if she told me "Be right with you!" She at least said thank you for waiting. Service used to be a bit more efficient from what I remembered in the past. While we were inside and eating our ice cream, 2 parties came in. They were waiting for about 3 minutes and I saw one of them looking around for the worker who went to the back. All we did was just shake our heads at this moment... Food: 3/5 Holy, these scoops though too. My sister and I paid $11 total for these tiny kid looking scoops. Ice cream tasted good but tastes mediocre now. I wanted a fruity flavor so I got the honeydew flavor that tasted like a melona without the stick. My sister's peanut butter and strawberry one was pretty good. However, I remember when they used to have flavors that I could not get elsewhere but it feels pretty basic nowadays. They give bigger single scoops at Baskin Robbin's for the same price or even a couple cents more. Ambiance: 5/5 I say there's ample enough seating and it feels clean and comfortable. I like sitting near the window but I just don't like that their one and only trash can is right next to that table. Verdict: I am not sure if I will be coming back. Black sheep has a great rotating selection of ice cream! It's nice they have some "anchor" ice creams as well. I believe this location just started servicing coffee as well which opens up options for affagados, one of my favorite combinations for ice cream. Five stars for the Guava Girl flavor!! It's a vanilla ice cream base with homemade guava butter cake chunks throughout, and it's SO good! We ordered the flight, which I love that they had that option, so we also tried their black sesame and the rocky road. The black sesame was good, and definitely true to the flavor, but kinda wish it was given something a little more unique, like some cookie crumbles or something additional to give it texture. While for me it depends on the parking situation and craving this place never misses when it has a flavor you'd like. If you like thicker ice cream with more of a savory taste this place doesn't miss! Like a lot of ice cream places not chains this place rotates their flavors on a decently constant clip and while I don't go enough to see what they got all the time when they don't run out it's the bomb. The only couple issue I got is the parking issue as it's on a side-street next to Costco which on its own is bad but with constant post Covid traffic has been a big factor in me going or not. Also while most places don't do this I've come to value places especially craft like this one updating on social media what flavors have run out or are new. While this place doesn't do that flavor alone with these factors aside is enough to put it on a rotation. read more

Usually love the ice cream but ordered buttah cakes, and there was ice crystals all through it. It tasted like it defrosted and was refrozen. I politely informed the employee who happily replaced it, but again ice crystals all the way through. It tasted old or not, kept right. Take Out Review: Love Black Sheep and its creative flavors since day one. However, we went back for the first time in a in a while and the cups got smaller, the prices higher, and unfortunately they make it difficult to enjoy their ice cream scoops to go. No covers, the freshly scooped ice cream was already melting on the way to the car (our visit was in the evening). While I think they stopped offering plastic covers a while ago, they used to offer a shallow box for the scoops to go and it would catch any melting ice cream, but instead now offered a 2 cup holder that was too deep to put the cups in. We ended up holding 3 uncovered cups for the 10 min drive home. Maybe they want customers to eat it on site, or buy their pints as the solution to taking scoops out. But by the time you realize that there are no real take out options, the ice cream has been scooped and paid for. Really have loved Black Sheep since they opened in Waipio. Hope they can find a solution that works for their business and customers. read more

Black sheep Cream is by far top 5 creameries on island. They make their cones to order and flavors changes weekly I believe. Camryn's service here was very professional and top of the line. She let us sample a few flavors they had before actually buying our cone with two scoops. Atmosphere here was very calm and overall my experience here was amazing. My husband and I are huge ice cream fans so Black Sheep catered at our wedding! We got Dirty Lickins (Oreo brownie), Buttah Cakes, and Honey Boo Boo Dew You flavors. It was a huge hit and we even got to pick up the equivalent leftover ice cream from their shop the next day! They have unique yet tasty flavors that rotate every so often, and the catering pricing was very reasonable, especially considering that this is specialty ice cream. We were sad to see the H-Mart location close since we live in town, but stoked to see a sign that a new location is opening up in Kakaako under the Koula condo! We got a double scoop in a waffle cone. They have a classic cone or a chocolate cone- made fresh! The cone is on the thinner side, reminding me of a stroopwafel. The two flavors we got were the cereal killer and strawberries + cream. The cereal killer had a cereal milk cream base with a cornflake crumble, which was my fav! The cornflake crumble added a salty and buttery bite which was delicious! My boyfriend picked the Guilty of Strobbery, strawberries n' cream. Not my favorite or as creative as their other flavors, but still good! They're open daily until 9 pm and I came in about 35 minutes before closing after a date night! Service was quick and I was really impressed with the freshly made waffle cone. They have a ice cream flight where you can choose 4 different flavors and a sauce (either chocolate or caramel). Here is what we tried: - That Good Good: Mint cream with chocolate butter cake ....this flavor was very good and very minty! -Dirty Blonde: dark roast coffee cream with blondie bits....this one was my favorite! Loved the coffee ice cream and the blondie mix-ins. - Go Shawty its your Birthday: cake batter cream with rainbow sprinkles.....this one was very sweet and tasted exactly like cake or cake frosting - Tropic Like its Hot: coconut cream and ube butter cake.....this one was very refreshing and delicious! I was surprised how much I liked it. - Sugar Daddy Got That Dough: brown sugar vanilla cream and cookie dough.....I was let down by this flavor. My husband and I were craving ice cream and this place was the closest to us... I was excited for the reviews and initially we really liked the ice cream. The matcha flavor was great, not overly heavy on the matcha flavor but the longer we kept eating it, the more it ended up a gummy texture where you kind of had to chew. I didn't think that was possible with ice cream.. but somehow this managed to do that. It was literally like we were chewing gum. The melon flavor was just horrible. It was chalky, overly sweet, and not very melon flavor forward at all. We went with: Honey Dew You, Boo Boo; The Banana One, Unicorn Poop, King of the Cookie and a Peanut Butter + Chocolate one. My favorite was the Chocolate + Peanut Butter. I want to start out by saying I love their ice cream. It's the perfect thick and creamy ice cream that I crave on a hot day. Today I tried their flavor of the month which was the peanut butter flavor and I got a second scoop of their cookie butter flavor. Both were excellent but my favorite was the cookie butter. They regularly rotate their flavors so there's always something new to try. The only reason I knocked a star off was because sometimes they can be inconsistent with their scoop sizes. Last time I came I got a double scoop of ice cream but it barely looked like one scoop. But today I got the same double scoop and it was overflowing in my cup. Cute little ice cream shop that is hidden behind the Waipio Costco. Not much parking but I don't usually have trouble finding a spot. The ice cream here is amazing! Super decadent, rich and creamy. Personally, my stomach can't handle this kind of ice cream but my husband loves it. We've been here several times over the years and it's pretty consistent. Staff is friendly and the ambiance is chill. Main constructive criticism is that the cones are warm when they serve it and very thin. Once they hand it to you, the cone starts cracking and the countdown begins before you're a sticky mess. Not ideal for kids, so we ended up dumping my toddlers cone into a cup.
