It's great to see their cups are being filled with business. Soon as I walked in I was greeted & was helped immediately. The lady who took my order was very pleasant and greeted me with a smile. For myself I ordered an iced white chocolate mocha large. Came with 4 shots of espresso and choice of milk. I got it with heavy cream. Let me say it was made perfect! Oahu is a small island; small enough that one may not consider it having areas that are considered the boondocks. Local Joe ( West ) is in East Kapolei which is technically a part of Ewa Beach. East Kapolei is developing so it may no longer qualify as the boonies, but it's close to it. Local Joe has been on the corner of No Hope St...make that...Nana Hope Street and Hoomohala Avenue for three years. It is situated within the apartment complex, The Element: the element is heat. I ordered via the mobile app, Save A Bite - which promotes sustainability and affordability while preventing ( in their own small way ) food waste. They've partnered with Local Joe to provide mystery boxes at a fixed price. The consumer doesn't know what they're getting for their small, medium, and large boxes. I ordered a small mystery box. I got a small Iced Thai Tea and a breakfast burrito for $7...mentioned that I don't care for seafood. There isn't any way ( that I know of ) to alert an establishment of allergies or preferences via the app. Burrito was excellent: egg, bacon, potatoes, spinach , and sausage. Thai tea was ok. Employees were cool and accommodating - which was good because outside...it was scorching hot. Arrived early, around 230p; the time frame for picking up your Save A Bite mystery box is from 300p to 500p. Hours are from 600a till 500p on weekdays. Open 700a till 500p on the weekends. Ambiance- 5 stars Food and drink- 5 stars Service- 3.5 stars I visited this coffee shop yesterday after my morning workout and this made me want to habitually discover a new coffee shop every Wednesday ! First, this spot is located on the corner of Ho'omohala and Nana Hope street near the Ho'opili community. Btw, this area blew up! Such a family friendly and cute neighborhood! Second, there is no designated parking for this coffee shop so you will have to find somewhere on the street to park. Beware, there are nparking signs across the street that indicate "No parking " so be sure to pay attention to signs. They tow! Third, the service was slow because there are only two baristas who worked as efficiently as they could so I wouldn't come here if you're in a rush to go somewhere. I ordered a large, French toast hot latte and their breakfast burrito that came with a small container of salsa. Everything was delish and believe that nothing went to waste after the calories I burned at the gym. Hehe. I love this little coffee shop! I recently tried a few items through Save a Bite and it's allowed me try things I wouldn't normally order. The strawberry matcha is delicious - that's coming from someone who doesn't even like matcha lol I've gone back and ordered it at least twice. The abc bagel is really good and I enjoyed the croissant as well! Grateful to have a local coffee shop right in Ho'opili! This time around my wife and I went and a jog around our neighborhood and last minute decided to stop by Local Joe's for a quick bite to eat. The best part of the drink was they offer fun pics to put on the foam. You scan the WR code, pick any pic from your phone. You will get a number. Before picking up your drink let the barista know the number and it goes in a cool machine and you end up with such a cute detail! I only gave 4 stars as I felt the coffee was a little biter. Local Joe is such a cozy little coffee spot tucked away in a residential area of Hopili. It's not a huge chain like Starbucks and because of that it feels much more personal and welcoming. The space is small but clean and has very comfortable vibe. I usually stop by for a drink (sometimes with a salmon bagel) and then take it over to the nearby playground where my kid can play. They have a latte art printer what could print any picture on your latte. They once did it for me for free, and it was such a cool surprise. The staff is friendly and helpful. I asked about the pumpkin latte and they were honest enough to say it was on the sweeter side, so I skipped it. I ended up with a chai latte instead, and appreciated that they offered the option to make it less sweet. They also have milk alternatives if you need them. There are a few tables inside if you want to sit down, plus a couple outside. The outside ones are cozy, but since they're right by the road, it's not the best option if you have a little one running around. There is no official parking and technically there are "no parking" signs nearby, but everyone just stops quickly to grab their coffee. Overall, a friendly local spot with good drinks, thoughtful staff, and a welcoming atmosphere. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area! read more

The free wifi gives it 5 stars. I looked on Yelp and it said the popular drink was the Toast latte? I didn't care for it unfortunately - it just tasted like a burnt coffee.... But I sampled another drink (White Chocolate Mocha) and this was really good! Since this is definitely farther from where I usually traverse too I also sampled the Strawberry Matcha Latte and that was delicious as well. I would definitely come back, the seating area outdoors was very relaxing. This was a very nice place to relax and chill. I am a fan. If I'm ever in the area again I'll make it a point to stop by again. Service was fast and kind, and it seemed to get pretty packed with lots of people lining up. It's time for a review update! ***If you order hot food, expect a wait, or best to order ahead online!*** Local Joe West's kitchen is small as it shares spaces with their espresso machine and drink ingredients. There tends to be a bottleneck if customers order food at the same time. Keep that in mind if you're in a hurry. Even a simple slice of banana or mango bread may require a wait as they require oven time too. The slices are made so you have to heat them in the oven. Drinks alone come out in a reasonable amount of time. Even with the wait times, I still enjoy grabbing coffee or a light breakfast from here. Their iced vanilla lattes still have that simple goodness I've enjoyed at their flagship Chinatown location. Many of the drinks are reasonably priced. Don't sleep on their monthly special of coffee, matcha, non-caffeinated drinks, and food items! What really compelled me to update my Yelp review was the amazing customer service my husband and I received last week. We ordered one of their July specials, their Palms Meets Pines. I posted the drink on my Instagram and tagged Local Joe's. About a couple hours later and after we left the shop, the owners saw that the drink seemed to be missed espresso, so they refunded us! The owners didn't have to do that, knowing that small businesses aren't easy or inexpensive to run, but they did! I really enjoyed the other July special we ordered, the Island Gold. I'd describe Local Joe as a cute yet kind of a hidden cafe on the west side of the island. For reference on how hidden it was, my friends and I who live in Ewa Beach didn't hear about this place until earlier this year! It's now slowly becoming my weekly breakfast/lunch spot, especially when I need a kick of caffeine to keep me awake during the weekday. I work within walking distance so it's awesome that this place is close by! Out of all the iced espresso drinks I've tried, I like the white chocolate mocha drink the best. I tried it both iced and blended, and I think I prefer it blended because maybe it reminds me of a frappuccino from Starbucks. Price wise, it's similar to other cafes and that includes Starbucks itself. Instead of hitting up Starbucks, just support local! They even have an order ahead system on their website that's very convenient to use. As a side note, know that parking is not just limited to what's in front of the cafe. Decided to make a last minute online order since we were near by. Easy to retrieve our order. Just walk in and tell them you have an online order and they will get it to you. They were really busy with walk-in customers, so they were still trying to make our order after the stated pick up time. I got the iced strawberry matcha, which I really enjoyed. It was just the right amount of matcha flavor which paired with the slight sweetness of the strawberry flavor. For me it was 10/10!!! My boyfriend got the Vietnamese cold brew, which he didn't really care for much 3/10. For him, there was not much sweetness to it even though there was sweetened condensed milk in it. I think it's because it's a cold brew, which made the flavor a little off. For breakfast we shared the breakfast burrito. It was very flavorful, and enough for us to share. It was about the length of an iPhone 14 Pro Max. It had the right amount of saltiness from the bacon and creaminess from the feta cheese , cheddar cheese and eggs. I ordered their seasonal drink, maple spiced matcha latte, and I enjoyed the fall flavor. The latte was crafted well; it didn't taste milky and the tea quality in the drink was strong enough but not too overpowering where it drowns out the rest of the flavor. Staying near home this sister-Saturday brunch since everywhere is gonna busy this last weekend before Xmas. From my home, Local Joes is just 3-miles away but it took us a little longer to get there because I made a mistake by driving past Kamakana Alii. Local Joes is located at the corner of The Elements apartment complex near the UH West parking lot for the Skyline. Love this location and making the turn onto Nana Hope St to see little bistro tables outside. Just what we wanted, a nice, quiet and shaded cafe to enjoy brunch. Turn into the parking lot for Elements and there will be four parking spaces allocated to Local Joes. If you can't find parking there. Street parking is available a half-block away and a quick walk. Upon entering the establishment, you'll be greeted by the helpful cashier. They have a great selection of coffees, lattes and teas both hot or iced. While waiting for your order to be completed, just relax and enjoy the quiet neighborhood, the cool quiet breeze outside, or enjoy looking at the art hanging in the cafe that you can purchase. Artwork is affordable and done by local artist kick starting off their career. Also, pet gear also for sale. I believe my sister got a mocha latte while I got an iced matcha drink. My sister enjoyed her lamb gyro. The portion was actually large. A server came out to see how we were doing and if we wanted water. We learned that she was the one that assembled the gyro and put only a little bit of the balsamic dressing but a lot of the feta cheese which was great because the pita didn't get soggy when she ate the rest for dinner. I enjoyed my turkey pesto on ciabatta. Both items came with a bag of chips. If you live in town and want to be a little adventurous, take the Skyline. Exit Station 2 - Keone'ae - UH West. There's not much parking so we double parked outside and it wasn't an issue. Service was friendly and the coffee was strong. Decided to make a quick coffee run to start our day. I had a hard time deciding between the Royal Hawaiian mocha and the pumpkin pie latte. The lady helping me had suggested the Royal Hawaiian Mocha. I got my son a keikiccino. This was perfect for him as he wanted a drink just like mom. It was a steamed milk and you can add different syrup flavors to it. Super disappointed in this matcha latte that I ordered. It is literally all milk and no matcha. Mine tasted like milk with condensed milk inside. I was so excited to try this place out to be let down. My finance also got a strawberry matcha that tasted just like strawberry milk. Paid $13 for two drinks... could've went to Walmart to buy a gallon of milk for $6 instead, if I knew I was just getting milk for a drink. I typically like to give an independent shop a couple of tries before giving a review and even then I try and avoid any negative reviews. Unfortunately, Local Joe was so bad on my first go that I'll never be back and felt a review was needed. The worst offender was their cold brew coffee. Imagine what you think the water would taste like coming out of your coffee machine without coffee. Just dirty old coffee water. Now add ice and milk and you have Local Joe's cold brew. Two sips and in the trash. Parking is a pain with 3 spots in the lot of the part meant building next door. The cashier seemed confused about what was on the menu.
