This place is a tiny cute cafe with a few outdoor seats. Unfortunately it's hit or miss on if the staff is upbeat friendly or just there to do their job. The coffee is decent though. And it's super cute that you can add your own latte art. Big hit for the kids. I will say actual photos don't show up well but their preselected designs come out really well. Found this gem by accident. I usually bike thru Ewa/Ewa Beach but a biking pal said to try Ho'opili. I saw Local Joe West as I was about to exit the area by the second rail station. Tables and chairs with umbrellas outside, A/C inside. Since I'm supposed to avoid caffeine, I normally drink decaff. They have mamaki tea! I never tried and it doesn't have caffeine. Surprise, I like it. Slightly sweet, mild flavor, it's now my drink of choice at Local Joe. It's stocked as loose leaf so it's prepared in a French press. The staff is very friendly, always greeting me by name. Almost always, they'll start brewing my cup as soon as I walk in. They have a food menu but I haven't tried anything yet. I came out to Hoopili this afternoon because my daughter had a massage booked out here. Since I was going to be waiting, I decided to see if I could find a place for coffee near by. I'm so glad that I spotted Local Joe as I was driving by. I went in and found a place with very friendly and helpful staff. They had lots of great looking coffees and teas on their menu. I opted for a large Royal Hawaiian Mocha which was a delicious delightful blend of their Mocha with caramel, creme de cacao, heavy cream, and your choice of milk (I chose whole milk). It was prepared for me in a little over a minute and was just wonderful. The barista included some really cute seasonal coffee art that you can see in the picture I included. The coffee was hot and satisfying. It wasn't overly sweet but was very rich. I don't get out to Hoopili very often, but I will definitely stop at Local Joe when I come back. What a hidden gem in Kapolei! I stopped by this cozy little coffee shop and was blown away. I ordered the French Toast Latte (Iced) with half-and-half, and it was so good--perfectly sweet, creamy, and full of that warm cinnamon-maple flavor. I also tried the ABC Bagel on an everything bagel (avocado, bacon, and cream cheese), and it was amazing. The bagel was fresh, the flavors were balanced, and it hit the spot. The only two "downsides" for me was that the shop closes early (2pm) and there's not much parking stalls. This isn't your ordinary Local Joe! A belated congratulations on your second location in The Element Apartments which is just a fabulous place to do it all! A great place to get work done as they have a long bar seating along the windows or a covered patio with a few tables right outside it's such a great place to chill catch up or get work done. The staff here is just so friendly to answer any questions I do see many similarity in the menu items which I absolutely love love love their Turkey Bacon Burrito from their town location that I have the most difficult time finding parking to grab some breakfast but here they do have a few dedicated stall in the back and decent street parking available as well. New location so I had to try something new and knew instantly when I saw it "Gyro"...whaaaaa!? Yass this is so loaded filled with lamb and beef meat blend with lettuce, diced tomato, red onions and feta with a nice amount of the yummy tzatziki sauce oh my wow wow goodness!! It comes with a bag of chips and yes I had to try their "regi's strawberry matcha" as well. Both are just the best comforting meal to start my day and gave me that much needed energy from a long exhausting work, adulting, and all of the above moments which is why I just love it out here it's so chill and relaxing, they do have a restroom as well. Came to try the coffee and see what they offer. The ladies greeted us with a smile. The menu is a good one but I love my coffee hot -fresh pressed and beans have to be flavorable. Ordered the Vietnamese coffee but asked for it to be hot. Made it French pressed with some condensed milk-it was good. My daughter had the strawberry matcha and we ordered a bagel (bc she told me it is made in house) & banana bread. Both food items were Delicious -bagel was perfect! Service was great, all super sweet employees. Parking can be a challenge since they share with the apartment complex next door but theirs street parking. I got the matcha latte which was not overly sweet, and I'd give it a 6/10. Didn't have too much flavor but was still good enough to get again. My friend got the strawberry matcha latte which she would rate it a 8/10. It has a nice strawberry flavor that adds a perfect sweetness. The breakfast croissants are okay, nothing to rave about... if you're in need of something quick it's a good choice. This cute little coffee shop is a perfect addition to the Hoʻopili neighborhood. Always looking for a local java shop to support! I had a hard time finding parking, so I just parked on the street about a block away. I met a friend for breakfast, and it was the perfect place to chat, eat, and catch up. They only have limited seating indoors, and we sat on the counter by the window. Even though it was close to the counter, it felt private enough. There is a pretty good amount of outdoor seating too. I ordered their large cold brew coffee with sugar-free vanilla and cream. It was strong - pow! I actually had a hard time sleeping that night. It did the job though and kept me happily caffeinated throughout the day. I also ordered their bagel with bacon, cream cheese, and avocado. It was huge! My friend also ordered a cold brew and she got the lox bagel. We shared our dishes, half and half. I must admit, her lox bagel was really tasty. I highly recommend that dish over mine. Never been to the location but my other half bought me a gyro from this place and it was good. Lots of flavor, bread was soft, decent amount of veggies and meat that balanced each other out. It also came with a bag of chips so that was a plus. There was no complaint about the service so I'd like to think the service was good if I didn't hear anything bad about it from him. Do not park at the apartment complex. Location: it is located at The Element. Where is the Element apartments you ask? When you are on Kualakai Parkway, KMA bound(going to Ka Makana), you take the second left. It's the one that goes under the rail tracks. Anyway, take that left and you will see The Element apartments, and the corner will be Local Joe. (Of course of you are coming from Ewa on Kualakai Prkwy, it's the third right). You're welcome. Ambience: LOVE the modern, but local Cafe vibe! Tables are available outside. The place plans on expanding the menu to mirror its Chinatown location! This cafe is in Hoopili and they have a few stalls in The Element apartment parking lot. I always get an iced latte of some sort and it's good but usually warm. Not sure if they pour the shots over ice before adding milk but it's always sparse on ice. I even ask for extra ice but it doesn't help. Lol! Despite that, I have been back a few times when nearby. French toast latte is pretty good. Food is usually good! There is a bit of a long wait when ordering food, but I don't mind. Gyro and breakfast burrito/sandwiches are really good! I would come here to eat more so than the lattes. Staff are nice enough and the outdoor seating is a nice chill place to hang out. My husband sends me a text on his way home from his morning run, "Hey, you wanna go to Local Joe's with me? It's good!" My initial response, was, "Sure, I'd love to!" Then I thought... wait, this guy went before, without me!?! Knowing my husband, he must've really liked it to even recommend this place. He may have brought me here, but the Regi's Strawberry Matcha is what hooked me to this place! It's legit matcha tasting and not too sweet with the strawberry. Close enough to Japan's that I have nostalgia. I ordered the breakfast croissant and now that is my go-to whenever I come, I now also add spinach. YES, I did it because it popped up as an option on their app. The best! My husband really likes their breakfast burrito, with a side of bacon, which I must say is also tasty. On different visits I've had their Thai Latte, White Chocolate Mocha, and Royal Hawaiian Mocha. All are good choices, but my faves are Royal Hawaiian Mocha with Oat Milk and definitely the Regi's Strawberry Matcha. I've really enjoyed this coffee spot a lot, that I've brought my mom and a friend of mine here on separate occasions. My mom loved her bagel & lox and my friend really liked her coffee. In fact my friend enjoyed it so much she ordered another coffee for the road and then took her sister to Local Joe's the following day! As I mentioned above, they have an app! So you can order ahead. Either way the wait isn't very long. Everyone that works here is always so friendly. Makes the experience even more pleasant. I've been saying that we don't really have any café like places in the Kapolei area. So, glad to have Local Joe's in Ho'opili, just a quick drive for me. I stumbled on this place while waiting to pick up my brother from the Skyline. The outside seating area was full of people so I figured this must be a good spot. Located in the Element residential complex nearby the UH West oahu skyline stop. I've been to this spit a few times. A friend pointed it out. They have great coffee and I usually get a Chai Tea Latte. I started trying their breakfast burritos, and I had to call the fire department, because the explosion of flavor in my mouth was overwhelming. They really strike a great balance between presentation and flavor. The only problem is, the burrito is so good that I forget to use the sauce. I am all in for supporting local coffee spots over the big corporate options, but this place needs to work on a few things before I would make it a permanent fixture or even a common stop. Coffee prices are standard, but the cost for the food is above what you get in hand. The girls behind the counter are nice, but there was no sense of urgency when the line got long. It took more than 20 minutes for me to receive a latte and a bagel. There's also no real parking since it sits on the corner of an apartment complex. I am not saying don't support them. Normally I love going to Local Joe and typically have a great experience. This time, not so much. When I got there was so excited because I was finally able to meet the owners Jess and Jeff. I wanted to tell them what an awesome team they have and how they should feel so lucky. Instead I was talked down to as if I was a toddler and left feeling really uncomfortable by the owners. I went on a busy Sunday. Got a matcha latte and it came out very watery. Had to wait outside because it was so busy and it's a small place. When I went to go wait inside no one bothered to check my order. It actually separated in the cup which I have never seen that before. It tasted like water and matcha powder. I want to start by saying this review has nothing to do with the service we received. The staff was pretty good at answering questions and nice enough It's the prices. We spent $45 for two drinks and two burritos. We literally went out to eat last night and spent less and came home with leftovers. The burritos are $15 and pretty small. The ingredients are quality though so I'm assuming that causes that price point. Additionally, $7 for a cortado....?! That's actually crazy lol. I didn't know the price cause it was one of their specials until after we already paid. I wouldn't have gotten it if I had known a 5 ounce drink was $7........ Anyways, cute as a one time date but won't come back Also didn't want to add this but there was a small hair in my burrito too. I didn't complain to staff about it, I just ignored it and threw the rest of the burrito away. The only reason I bring it up on the review is because I saw another review with a similar complaint. Tried out one of the foodies... did not disappoint, I appreciate the crispy bacon bits. My fiance on the other hand wasn't a fan of it, due to the feta cheese it also has. Kind enough to pre-cut it! FAIR WARNING, the sauce it comes with is very spicy... I can handle to a certain extent, it pairs nicely with the Cholula but personally would opt out of the sauce the burrito it comes with just because I can't handle. Tried out another of their drinks too. New fav from them, the royal Hawaiian mocha! Can taste the coffee at the end and it's not too sweet, did ask them to adjust to 50% sweetness. Def sticking to it. Fiancé tried foggy bottom cold brew. The name itself is def it, it's like slushie frappe blend on the top and coffee at the bottom that stays separated... Definitely bold, dark and foamy. If you enjoy boldness, yes, unless your a coffee sweet tooth like me, avoid and try out the royal hawaiian mocha instead!! read more
