We love to stop into Brug once a week to grab a sweet or savory treat (sometimes both) for the day. We've been to multiple locations but the Kapolei location has the largest selection to choose from. We've tried a little bit of everything from Brug and it's always delicious and satisfying!! There is something for everyone here. The service is great and the ambiance is warm and inviting.
Cute bakery on the inside with many options to pick from. We chose teddy bear chocolate filled bread, mango custard bread and monkey bread. All options were stale and lacked flavor- possibly came during change outs for these items but 3/3 options were not good in our experience. Besides the mango custard, the other two breads were stale and very dry. The mango custard was slightly better but still just ok. Service was also ok, we knew from experience how to work around the bakery goods but no one asked if we needed help at any point. We did see a few people walk in just for the Hokkaido Bread so that might be a better choice or any of the savory options. The strawberry milk and the iced strawberry matcha latte were better than the pastries we selected. Both drinks had real strawberry chunks and were sweetened to our liking. Would recommend either drink to enjoy! One highlight was seeing each pastry had a time limit for how long they could stay out before being pulled. Overall I would come back to try other options and hopefully enjoy pastries that are fresh.
Been coming to Brug Kapolei ever since it first opened. Before that, we went to 85c Bakery in Kapolei to scratch our pastry itch. However, Brug is our favorite. Shelves are always full and the have a wide selection of pastries, breads, and other treats. While it's not big, it is clean and service is fast and friendly. Also like the recent addition of three tables out on the sidewalk. Nice to see families sitting down and enjoying themselves.
Our go to bakery! Love everything here! It's best to go in the morning to see a wide selection of fresh bakery stuff.
Decided to stop in on way back from Target and was glad we did. The store reminded me of a 85 degree bakery or any asian bakery really. The Japanese buns and pastries did not disappoint and were pretty pleased with the selections and service. We got an assortment of mochi donuts, curry bread, apple pies, croquettes, and a Kouign-amann (super buttery and crispy pastry). Everything was good no complaints from anyone in the house. Would be back again to try more stuff.
This Brug bakery is located next to Verizon Wireless & same side as Ross Dress for Less in Kapolei. It's an amazing place for a quick breakfast. They have delicious pastries and drinks. A sitting area right outside and a restroom nearby. Lots of parking. Must try: 1. Strawberry matcha drink (10/10 it was delicious & refreshing but a little pricey. Only comes in 2 sizes medium $8+ & large $9+) Matcha mixed with milk of your choice and diced strawberries on the bottom) Savory: 1.Sukiyaki (10/10) June special 2. Bamboo & umami cream roll (9/10) 3. Kitaguni focaccia for veggie lovers (8/10) 4. Pastrami & cheese focaccia (9/10) 5. Spinach & Kale Cheese croissant (8/10) 6. Pastrami cheese croissant (9/10) 7. Tomato & Pesto focaccia (9/10) Sweet: 1. Mochi donuts (tried their matcha, strawberry, & chocolate flavor. All were good 10/10) 2. Choco custard (10/10) 3. Panna cotta (Chocolate (9/10) or vanilla flavor - never tried) Want to try: - melon pan - other specialty drinks I noticed selections can vary at each location and on a monthly basis. We love Brug! So many different pastries to try, both savory and sweet. Our family loves the beef curry pan, the pizzas, and the mochi donuts. The bakery seems very clean and the staff is very friendly. Everything we've had from here is delicious. We also received free samples of the white bread and a free tote!
Brug Bakery on the west side? What? Can't believe we finally have one on this side of the island. I've always been to this bakery whenever I go to town side, and I'm glad I'm able to just drive close by and get pastries and goodies anytime! Located right by Massage Envy and Ross Kapolei. Lots of parking space, and the sign is big for you to see. I went at 10 a.m. before my massage appointment next door, and the selection was amazing. They were surprisingly still stocked, and the workers continued to fill the items. I love how it's a good mix of savory and sweet treats, and I'm excited to try more. My hands-down favorite is the tuna bread and mochi donuts.
Brug Bakery on the Westside! I'm guessing many who come to Brug Kapolei would visit the next closest Brug in Pearlridge. This is like any other Brug--you sanitize your hands, grab a tray, parchment paper, and a pair of tongs, and pick away! Brug Kapolei is definitely more narrow than Pearlridge. While Pearlridge's is open and square-shaped, Kapolei's is rectangular, hot dog style. It's like customers would have to form a single file line to pick pastries, then wait to pay, then walk up to the cashier. This set up would be tough for those like me who like to survey all baked options before picking pastries. Along this narrow walkway, you'll see the savory or meat-filled pastries, followed by the sweet pastries. I picked a piece of monkey bread, a chocolate croissant, and the seasonal strawberry cream cheese danish. While waiting to pay, customers get a good view of the bakers busy making yummy treats in the kitchen, along with displays of all sorts of kuma (bear) themed cakes. It was surreal seeing a view of bakers while staying on the Westside. Of course, they serve coffees and locally made teas. On a Saturday morning, only one cashier was in front, but she worked efficiently, switching from one POS machine to the next between customers. Brug doesn't have my favorite taro bun (but I kinda knew that)! Come here for croissants and their famous monkey bread. Go to 85 Degrees for the taro bun and more Chinese-style pastries. Apple Maps has this Brug location wrong. If you're exiting H-1 through Kalaeloa, you can see the Brug signage at a corner between Down to Earth and Ross. Thanks for opening up on the Westside and saving us a trip to town or Pearlridge, Brug!
Checked out this new Brug location in Kapolei. Right next to the Verizon store. The shop had all the usual breads and pastries from their other shops. Everything looked appealing and freshly baked. Some pastries seemed pricey but comparable to similar bakeries in Honolulu. Convent location for the west side. Service was fast and friendly. The hype has died down from their opening so it was a quick visit.
My first visit to the newest Brug Bakery located at the Kapolei Commons. I went at opening, there was a line, check out was pretty quick. There's 3 types of Anpan Jumbo, Koshi and Hokkaido. My favorite is the Jumbo Anpan. If you like a good Anpan this one's for you.. Jumbo Anpan consist of double the amount of red bean. I purchased 2 Jumbo Anpans and 2 sausage rolls it's an arabiki sausage wrapped in a soft Japanese bread. Both were warm and satisfying! Baked goods are in a bakery display case, personally I think It would be better if these were individually wrapped like their other locations. Other than that it's great to have a Brug Bakery in Kapolei. Welcome to Kapolei & love the cute bear stickers!
Welcome to Kapolei... What a surprise to find that Kapolei Commons is home to the newest Brug Bakery and what a treat literally to see them here. You can find them at the opposite end of the theaters near Ross's as this newest addition does have some items that are unique to this location. Though yes once you walk in you'll find rows of individual keeping pairs of various pastries with a sign beside each item with name and price with a brief description some with time constraints has a made/pull time so there's no stress about its information. Along with some grab and go drinks and some merchandise of jelly and loaves of bread that you see at all locations what they have here are crafted drinks from their barista menu with teas and coffee it's pinkies up to pair with you pastries as well. What's also unique about this location is they have a display case filled with some cuties Kuma which is bear in Japanese are found here in Kuma Puffs where it's a round cream puff all dressed up like a bear and Cheese Kuma Cotta...their version of a Panna Cotta. The vibe here is just so nice and friendly with staff greeting you right when you enter and to wrap your pastries so nice and ready to travel is greatly appreciated and know that it's the spot that many have already enjoyed as well. Came to the grand opening. Showed up a little before 10 and made it in the bakery by 11:50 am. The staff did a good job of letting a certain amount of people in at a time. This location has certain items other locations do not have. Like their strawberry stuffed bear. They also had a bear with a heart stuffed with banana cream for Valentine's day. I was excited to try all the strawberry things including their fresh imported strawberries from Japan. My mom came and she got the cranberry loaf which was stuffed with cream cheese. It was soo good! I got a matcha mochi donut, fresh fruit cheese danish, chocolate croissant, mini baguettes, monkey bread, potato croquette, hotdog bun for my hubby. Strawberry pastry filled with red bean paste. I also wanted to try their panna cotta bear. It's so cute! We get one free on our next visit. We also got a free black tote bag. I wanted the chocolate cup but the girl at the front misunderstood me. My mom ordered us some drinks. She got a matcha frappe and I got a Strawberry matcha. She liked hers, mine was ok, too much ice. Spent around $80.00. The strawberries were pricey. I'm glad there is a Brug Bakery closer to me! I'm excited what other goodies they get in.

My wife bought this Mango Mousse bear and brought it home for a small dessert. We both agree that Brug knocked this one out of the park. It was absolutely delicious! To start, the presentation was well done. The texturing of the bear looked like fur. I think that it was well done. The bear was laying on "wood" which was a type of crust with a glaze on the surface and there was an herb, thyme perhaps. A nice stack of mango compote and whipped cream rounded out the design. It all presented well together into a cohesive and cute scene. The flavors were beautiful. Of course, the mango was center stage with the mousse and compote. The mousse was smooth and a piece of mango embedded in the head and body added nice textural contrast. The whipped cream balanced very well with the mango components and the herb was a splendid touch that paired well with the mango. This was a wonderfully delicious and balanced dessert that we would absolutely get again. It was a great treat to top the evening off with and we highly recommend that you sample this dessert. I came in today around 4:40 PM, and once again, it was the same two people who always take such great care of me. The lovely lady who warms up my bread and the guy who made me the best banana latte last time (and helped me with their birthday special) are just so consistently kind and welcoming. Their hospitality is genuine through and through. They're a big reason I love coming back to this bakery, along with how adorable and thoughtfully designed everything is. Today I got to try the coffee jelly, there was only one left! I added whole milk and coconut cold foam, and it was absolutely delicious. I also got another burger, and this time she remembered to ask if I wanted it heated. Such a thoughtful touch. And of course... I had to bring home the monk seal with glasses and the little bear because they completely matched the vibes. I also noticed they have new Shaka Butter flavors in stock! The coconut peanut butter and espresso peanut butter all sound amazing, and they even have guava jam. I'm definitely giving those a try next time. I love places that make me feel like I'm truly in a tropical paradise. If this is even a small taste of the bakery culture you get to experience in Japan, then I'm even more excited to visit one day. Good thing there are tables and chairs outside so we can enjoy the beautiful Hawaiian weather as we indulge in these delicious treats. read more
BRUG is such a charming Japanese bakery that instantly makes you want to come back. The space is incredibly cute, clean, and modern, with a bright, welcoming atmosphere that makes browsing all the beautifully displayed pastries even more enjoyable. Everything is kept spotless, and you can tell they take great pride in maintaining such a clean and inviting bakery. Shayna was exceptionally friendly and helpful, greeting customers with warm smiles and patiently answering questions about the different baked goods. Her hospitality made the experience feel even more welcoming. Truly the sweetest and the best. I'm so glad they opened a Brug in Kapolei. This was my first time visiting this location and I was impressed. Located in Kapolei Commons next to Massage Envy, there is plenty of parking out front and a wide variety of pastries, bread and sweets to choose from. Compared to their other locations, I thought that this location had more options to choose from. They have cute strawberry and chocolate kuma cottas, new cakes and my favorite chocolate kuma puffs. My other favorites are the cranberry and cream cheese bread, mochi donut, tuna bomb, custard bread, curry pan and cream cheese bomb. The staff are helpful and the interior is wide and well lit. I recommend putting in your phone number when checking out to earn points for future purchases. read more
Love that Brug Bakery will be opening soon, January 2026, in the Kapolei Commons (next to the Verizon store). This location will be the largest location on Oahu. This new store will be the only location selling BRUG Kuma Cakes! Make sure to check for more updates! read more
2/15/26 The last time I was there was during their soft opening. Being that their grand opening was yesterday, I waited to go today and there was no line. There were a lot more baked items, and this time around, items seemed fresher and several items were still warm. I was much more satisfied. *Customer service needs to improve...reason for 3 stars. read more
Finally open in Kapolei! I usually go all the way to Ala Moana Center to get this Japanese bread, so I was really excited to hear they opened a location in Kapolei. I went on opening day, and there was a long line outside and inside the store -- clearly a lot of people were excited too! They had a big selection of bread, but unfortunately I couldn't find my favorite, the custard bun. I did see melon bread, but it didn't look like a traditional melon pan, so I decided not to get it. Since it was opening day, they probably made a large batch of bread, and some of it didn't look as fresh as I expected. I was a little disappointed this time. All staffs are ok. Plenty parking. That said, they just opened, so I'm looking forward to seeing how they improve. I'm still very happy we finally have a Japanese bakery on the west side! read more

Excellent location in Kapolei. I normally go to the Ala Moana Brug. We arrived around 10:00am and many items were on display. I did revisit around 12:00pm and many items were being restocked. Go early for the best selection. Employees were very friendly and efficient and helpful. Everything was delicious! read more
We tried this bakery on a whim as we were shopping in the area and we are SO happy we did. I recommend going before noon as there are usually more items available. An absolute must is the mochi donut. Both the original and chocolate are amazing. It's like a super noise almost oily (in a good way). The chocolate is like a homemade dark chocolate that melts in your mouth. If you get anything. Get this! You can get your own items and then pay at the end! Nothing we had was bad!! read more
Such a Fan of Brug Bakery, Happy to have one in our Community of Kapolei. Located at the Kapolei Commons next door of the Verizon store and Ross's. We literally waited in line for 20 minutes but it was so worth it. They are going through a soft line opening this month and was told that they are still in training from 9:30 am to 3 pm everyday. So go get your haul and enjoy those fresh delicious baked goodies. Lots of parking. read more

I love a Japanese style bakery and so glad Brug opened in Kapolei. Came here at 9 am and everything was filled and fresh. I got a sausage pastry, mochi donut and garlic bread. All my pastries were delicious and warm. I also ordered a strawberry match which was disappointing though and I would not order again. They put way too much strawberry which made it overly sweet and I could not taste the matcha at all. I'll stick to the baked goods next time I visit. read more
Great new location. Amazing selection, easy parking. Would be nice if they opened earlier in the weekdays-I stopped by to pickup snacks for work and they were not open yet-had to go to the one up the street that was open. read more
I love Brug! I can't wait until the grand opening and hopefully they get into the groove of things at this location. I came at 2pm on Sunday and almost everything was sold out. They also would not accept my gift card at this location for some reason? That was disappointing. I'll probably stick to Pearl Ridge until they work the kinks out. Although I do like this location, it's pretty big and they have the largest drink menu I have seen. read more

My wife and I enjoy Brug quite a bit, and were excited to try out the new location in Kapolei - unfortunately we were disappointed by the staff and service. People working the front seemed largely uninterested in answering questions, or being of any help while we were trying to use things like gift cards and coupons specifically provided by Brug themselves. Considering the food and atmosphere are nearly identical to every other location - the "largest Brug yet" claim seems more of a technicality than a feat - I don't see any reason to come here instead of any other location on the island. FYI They are open from 8am-6pm but hours are subject to change (thats why they havent posted it yet). Come early if you'd like the seasonal stuff cause they sell out fast. I came around 11 and they had a ton of breads out but no banana custard puppy seasonal bread :( The cashiers and staff were nice, coffee came out timely and was good! My favorites were the beef curry pan (crunchy bread on the outside, flavorful curry on the inside), the Bear panna cotta (creamy sweet custard with some raspberry bits inside sleeping on a sugar cookie you can eat) and the strawberry matcha (comes with chopped strawberries inside). Will definitely come back at an earlier time to try more treats. read more
Woohoo! . They're finally Open! Albeit a Soft Opening but definitely in business. Grand Opening February 14th! Self service / Take Out only. Their selection of delicious pastries expands each day as the staff learns from the Master Chef how to bake new pastries daily. They have some awesome specialty drinks that go perfectly with their pastries and breads. The Lemon Custard danish was a New find for me, I dont remember seeing it at the Ala Moana bakery. Modest showroom, just wide enough to go with the flow till you circle back to the registers. read more

I was really excited for this new bakery location to open since we've always loved visiting their other spots around town. They offer a great mix of both sweet and savory baked goods, which is one of the reasons we keep coming back. One thing to keep in mind is timing. I stopped by right when they opened, and unfortunately not everything was ready yet. Some items were still baking, so the selection was a bit limited. Safe to say, the early bird doesn't always get the worm here! I'd recommend going about an hour after opening if you want the full variety of options. I also tried one of their coffee drinks, the coconut foam cold brew latte. As a coconut fan, I really enjoyed it, and it was a nice addition to the visit. They definitely have some kinks to work out When we first went in we were so excited that there's a location closer to us finally. And the excitement slowly died down the longer we stayed. The pastries are cute yes, but I saw employees refilling them not doing F.I.F.O. They were just putting fresh pastries in the front. So word of caution don't grab from the back - they're probably stale... I can say even some of our pastries were more soggy than crunchy. Flavor was great though. I also like when a bakery has allergens on the info placard. This bakery doesn't just FYI. Lastly....dont get drinks from here. Really. I got a strawberry matcha and husband got a caramel latte. Upon first sip of my matcha - it was so sweet it literally hurt my teeth - and I have a sweet tooth haha. The matcha was also just weak. I came home and added more matcha from my own collection which made it great lol. If you're a matcha girly - skip the matcha from here. I promise. My husband said his caramel latte was also overly sweet. Drinks - 0/5 I promise skip it. Pastries - 2.5/5 - textures wrong but flavor was good Service - 5/5 Price - 2/5 ($50 for two drinks and 8 pastries) Overall- 2/5 I'm sure they're just learning but for now - I won't return for a little while. A Brug opening Kapolei! How convenient and in a great location. I had to stop by Fujiokas and noticed they were serving people! I ran my errand and quickly met my family inside. It is very cozy so try to quickly make a selection quickly. Upon walking in, take a right to browse and grab your items. The store's direction flows one way. Treats that left an impression on my family Dry Kase $4.20 - Custard filled sandwich. My fave. 10/10 will be buying again. Bought (2) and it was still good the next day! Kuma Choco Custard $4.20 - Chocolate Custard filled bun shaped like a bear. Bacon $4.50 - Bacon wrapped with Twisted French Bread bread wasn't soft. It was hard and chewy. Perfect for a teething baby! Chocolate Kuma Cotta $8.50 10/10: Chocolate flavored pudding shaped like a teddy bear. Sweet but not overly sugar shock inducing sweet. My 4yr old was so excited to eat it. I liked the crisp on the bottom! Very smart! I have an appreciation for things that taste as good as they look. Brug never disappoints. I'll be going back to try their drinks. Note: if you spend $40+, your reusable bag is free. read more
