Went the other day and they had a variety of cupcakes and kava cakes. Birthday/Specialty dishes are all special order. They are not open everyday, and orders can be done online. Bought a lava cake and it was good...4 out of 5, pumpkin cupcakes were okay. It was small in size like a muffin. Best part was the cream cheese on the top. If these are sold as "cupcakes" in my opinion, they need to be much larger in size and not a small muffin. The crew here are super friendly! They have limited items but each scone, cupcake, lava cake, cookie, etc. is phenomenal! They also have coffee, espresso and specialty drinks. Lyn has done miracle work with our daughters 6 year birthday Bluey theme cake! We walked in on a friday and she was kind enough to accept our order for a next week pick up. It was $115 base + filling + design + rush fee for 6in 2 layer cake but Well worth the price. She showed us custom bluey cakes shes made in the past and my daughter picked her style, colors and flavor of cake. Despite it being a busy time with superbowl weekend and valentine's day coming up Lyn was great with communication and responding to our texts timely. Absolutely incredible cakes and brownies! We received so many compliments from our guests, and everything was beyond delicious. For our son's Transformers-inspired cake, she truly went above and beyond our expectations with the design--it was detailed, creative, and absolutely perfect. We chose a strawberry cake with fresh strawberries and cream filling, and hands down, it was the best we've ever had. The cake was incredibly moist and actually tasted like real, fresh strawberries. So, after the baker I usually used informed me that she was booked, I started to frantically search my trusty Yelp app for bakers late Monday evening (28 November 2022). Luckily, I came across Oahu Cakes!! I was skeptical of the short notice, getting what I wanted, the price, and the taste. Well, Yelp, I am happy to inform you that I was not disappointed with any of my desires. Submitting a quote was easy and straightforward. The online submission form made the step by step process easy. I selected the flavor I wanted, the size, the theme, the pick up date (this is based on a pop up availability calender on te site), and any additional notes to get an accurate quote. And I was able to submit a picture of something similar to what I wanted. I had to submit my request for a quote on Oahu Cakes website (I couldn't find a direct contact via Yelp). But once I submitted it, I received a copy of my request to my email. Since it was late Monday evening, I impatiently checked my email every few minutes the following day (Tuesday). I finally got a text message late Tuesday morning from someone who identified themselves as Ashli from the bakery. (Honestly, I was a bit skeptical because I automatically thought scam... since it's the holiday season, increased vigilance is necessary). Anyway,  Ashli's text had a copy of my quote and asked that I confirm accuracy. If everything was accurate, she asked that I use the provided link to make a deposit to solidify my order (another reason I thought scam...hey, you can't be too cautious!!). The link looked legitimate, so I proceeded and made my payment. Thursday (1 December 2022 at 1231pm), I had not received any updates, so I sent a text to the same number confirming my pick-up time. Yelp,  there was no response to my text all day, so again, I think, SCAM. Lmao. Yes - I was catastrophizing!! I went on the website, checked the business number, and of course, it did not match the one I received the text from. However, the guy who answered was able to confirm that the cake was baked. They just needed to put the finishing touches, but I was good to pick up at my requested time. Whew! Friday morning, I received a picture message of the cake from Ashli. It was beautiful!! I transported the cake to my event and that was that. Not only did it look amazing, but it also tasted great. It was chocolate with unexpected but pleasantly surprising chunks of chocolate. Yummy. I was also surprised that the cake was bigger than I expected and had 3 layers!! I wished I had taken a picture showing the inside while it was cut, but I was too busy enjoying it. I just gotta say one praise, "TOTAL FOODGASM!!!" First off, I started a food vlog not too long ago and I wanted to celebrate accomplishing a personal milestone on my channel. I figured, go get something that I know I like but never had the chance to try out yet. So, I did some research to look for who got some baked goods. I ran across this location, and I found it interesting. I got in my car with all my vlog gear to check this place out. When I arrived at the location and smelled the freshness of the pastries, I just know that this place was going to be goooood!!! For my review, I placed my order for a 1/2 dozen of various flavors of cupcakes (Cookies & Cream, Pina Colada, Salted Caramel, Strawberry, Red Velvet, and Chocolate), 1 chocolate chip cookie, 1 chocolate lava cake, and 1 brownie. The owner of the restaurant was absolutely kind and extremely patients with me while getting my order ready. Once I got back in my car to tape my review, I started with trying out the cookie, and it was super tasty. Even though I tasted a little bit of oats in it, I didn't mind because I love oats in my cookies. Next thing that I tried was the brownie. And that's when I realized that I was truly in paradise. Biting into that warm chocolatey, ooey oh so gooey brownie made me go in to full foodgasm!!! It truly was the absolute best brownie I have ever tasted in my entire life. I was so disappointed that I had no choice but to not finish it at that time. I still had 1/2 dozen of cupcakes and a lava cake left to try. Once I got my composure back from that heavenly brownie, I tried out the lava cake. Let me tell you, it was so moist and rich in that chocolatey goodness as well. It was a pretty easy design so I thought it would be ok considering the way more complicated designs I saw in the reviews. Let me tell you it was the most sloppy job I've seen in my life, uneven edges, everywhere seemed like it was made in a hurry, free handed, no stencil by someone with zero experience, how you dare to charge like a professional when your job isn't professional level?. oahu cakes is one of the very few bakeries on the west side located in kapolei. stopped by once and tried their red velvet cupcakes and brownies, and OMG sooo delicious! i was sold on ordering a cake there !! it was easy to order online and within a day i get a text reconfirming details on the order from ashli. she said she was pretty flexible regarding small changes if i do change my mind on a few things. i told her i wanted to change the flavor of one of the cakes and had to wait till the next day or two to receive a text back saying she got the changes and would do so. a day or two before the pick up i get an invoice and it did not reflect the changes we discussed via text and i told her again, but it was no problem and she was able to change the flavor of the cake! no biggie. i guess just make sure that you check the invoice details to ensure it's what you want. also prob best to not be as fickle minded as i am lol. the cake was beautifully done and pick up time it was ready! and just exactly what i wanted! although i was a bit disappointed with the cake. it was a chocolate cake but it was quite dense. we had to use two hands to slice down into the cake since it was so thick! it was like the cake's inside was like a cake pop texture inside instead of that cake texture..? just very thick...almost like play dough.. i'd hate to say. but their cupcakes were soo good though and airy and not dense like that at all so i was surprised when our cake came out like that. i would still come back for their brownies and cupcakes though and still grateful for a beautiful cake. hopefully next time the cake will be lighter in texture. read more
