Tropicakes made my Dad's 90th birthday extra special. I had been searching for a specialty cake to celebrate my Dad's big day. When I saw Tropicakes, I knew it was meant to be and was going to be extraordinary just like my Dad. I was late in placing an order. And I think I flustered Tamar because it was so last minute (2 days prior). But she had the numbers and came through in a big way. We had a brief discussion about my preferences and she offered suggestions and promised it would be beautiful. Let me just say, when Tamar sent me a photo of the cake, I had tears of joy. It really looked amazing. You can just tell that this cake was made by a true artist who has great pride in the end product. My Dad was so happy when he saw the cake and my family just ooh'd and ahh'd over the cake. According to my parents the cake was delicious! They enjoyed every single bite. Prices are on the higher end. But it is truly worth every single cent. And best of all, it tasted just as amazing as it looked. I couldn't be happier with Tropicakes. Celebrating mommy moms birthday in Hawaii meant having to purchase a cake there. tropicakes came in cluth! The service was great. The owner texted me a picture of the cake when it was finished. I guess it was a cake but like a cookie cake? It was in the shape of a pineapple. When things are pretty you think ... hmm what if it's not good. But it was actually pretty good. Almost too pretty to eat, but i had to sell my arm and my leg to pay for it. Lol. It was definitely pricey, but I appreciate that she include a tiny happy birthday sign and candles. That was super sweet. I don't remember reading what the cake included but nonetheless I appreciated that. I had the cake delivered to our hotel and that was $15. There is also Hawaii tax on the cake which was $10 or some sort. So it just felt so expensive not even having all the extra decorations. But had to be done and I got the cake. All in all, just do it. You most likely won't regret it. Still kinda hurting from the price and the fact that we threw half of it away because it was too big to eat in the 4 days we had left read more

We celebrated my daughter's first birthday away from home so I wanted to make sure she had a great birthday cake. I reached out to tropicakes and they were easy to work with and great with communication. As soon as I booked the cake the owner reached out right away to work with me on the design. We picked up the cake on my daughter's birthday and it was beautiful. The owner even gave us a set of candles and happy birthday cake topper. There is a lot of attention to detail as the cake has hidden treasures on top like handmade chocolate shells and glittery macaroons. As we ate it in our hotel lobby people would pass by and comment on how beautiful the cake is. If you want a memorable beautiful cake I highly recommend tropicakes. read more

My hubby ordered me a cake from this place in July 2022. I was very happy with this cake, it was really cute and really yummy. Not too sweet but not lacking flavor at al! I didn't get too many pics but here you can see it was a lipstick and lips. Also the texture and details to add was very original and was perfect for my taste. I'm always very excited about confections and cakes etc. I appreciate she added candles and "Happy Birthday" cake topper with the order. My hubby ordered this for me as a surprise and it was really sweet of him but also beautiful and made my birthday extra super special. I highly recommend this cake provider to anyone. I ordered my sister's 18th birthday cake from Tropicakes prior to visiting Honolulu from Arizona. Response time to messages were super quick and easy. Service throughout the experience was amazing, and the cookie CAKE was DELICIOUS! The flavor profile was "chef's kiss"! My sister loved the presentation and everyone loved how it tasted. Service was excellent! I planned my baby's birthday in Hawaii and what's the best way to do this!!! Support a local small business! Omg the cake tasted excellent first and foremost! When I took the cake to the restaurant the staff was swooned away at the cake's beauty! I ended up passing a few extra slices out to the staff and they agree that the taste was amazing! It was a nice balance of sweetness and tasted super fresh! The process was very easy to order which is all online and simple instructions after ordering for pick up. I said it before I picked up, at pick, and will repeat again; the cake looks AMAZING!!!! Truly exceeded my expectations. The online ordering process was easy peasy. Pick up was fast and I didn't even have to get out of my car! I chose the teal, white, and gold option and asked for a little pink to be added. She did what I asked, so this review is well deserved! I randomly found this shop on Yelp and I'm SO thankful I did!! From beginning to end, the process of ordering a cake for my sister's big 30th birthday was smooth, timely, and full of kindness! I ordered the customized cake online, then confirmed my order a week later. The rep was very responsive, quick to follow up, and super friendly. The day of the surprise delivery, the rep made sure to contact me earlier to set up a way to surprise my sister (I live in LA). The delivery was on time and the rep was super sweet to my sister upon receipt. I wish they had a branch in LA! Tropicakes is so well run. Excellent communications. First rate customer service. And a truly unique, gorgeous and yummy product. They literally made my mom's birthday. Covid prevented me from being home to celebrate with her but Tropicakes made her feel so special and loved. They were even kind enough to honor my request for photos of the masterpiece before it was delivered. Above and beyond. :-) And .....At the risk of others following suit, I will also admit that I did not give them much notice but they still pulled it off. Thank you. Tropicakes was heaven sent! So we had a miscommunication and she made the cake for me on a wrong date, totally misunderstood and communication on my end. So she made another cake for me on the date I needed. Omg! She was the sweetest ever! Such a genuine person. The cake was absolutely beautiful! My daughter loved it and so did family! This is something you definitely need to see for yourself! The cookie/cakes are made with so much care and love!! Made exactly how I asked for it to be made ( and on the shortest notice!) They are also picture perfect and never seem to have a droopiness that some cakes have over time. Also, the arrangements often have edible glitter on them which I absolutely adore. I always wanted to try this type of cake but I wouldn't really call it cake it's more like cookies with frosting in between in a form of a cake. I ordered this cake black theme but the day of pick up I was asked if it was okay if they could add brown and gold. Even though I was kind of disappointed I said it was fine I mean it was almost time for pick up anyways I didn't have a back up cake. What was I supposed to do. The cake came out cute though! Not bad When I picked up the cake I was told to refrigerate it and I can see why because it'll start falling apart if you don't. I picked up some stuff at the store right after and I probably should've taken it straight home because some of the toppings came off but it was easy to put back on. My husband and I thought the cake tasted okay but my lil sister loved it so idk depends on what you prefer. read more

Her theme was hydrangeas which is her favorite flower with mostly blue (her favorite color) and white. The picture doesn't do it justice as it came out perfectly. In her words, "this is the most beautiful cupcake bouquet I've ever received." Picking up was very easy and quick and I even came early. -To anyone looking for a beautiful themed cake/cupcake I highly recommend HI Angeltreats.

I wanted to try a variety to get an idea of what their best options are so we got one cream puff and two different cake rolls, one strawberry and one Okinawa sweet potato. When we went at 7 pm they still had about 6 options in the case, with the majority being cake rolls. The double cream cookie puff was hands down my favorite and absolutely delicious. Coco puff who? Just kidding, but both are delicious in their own way but I do prefer Malu, especially the dough on the cream puff. The cake rolls were not too sweet and very soft. We tried the strawberry and Okinawa sweet potato, the sweet potato had actual chunks of potato in it. The strawberry had one fresh strawberry and some bits in the piece. The prices were very reasonable, I think we got all 3 for under $14. The worker/owner? was sweet and got everything packed quickly. It's small but there are a couple of tables if you want to eat in, I chose to take home. I want to go back earlier in the day to try some of their other specialties. They have beautiful displays of fancy desserts and on shelves cookies and Madeleines. I picked a few fruity desserts to try macarons, lemon tart, mango pudding, tropical fromage. I wanted to get their fruit tart but the fruit on top looked dry and not as pretty and glossy. My favorite was the tropical fromage which was light and airy with a really nice fruit flavor. The mango panna cotta was my second favorite which included the mango bits on top - a nice touch - and the cream nice and rich. Lemon tart had an odd taste to it. Should have went with the mush peach tart that didn't look as appetizing but probably better. The macarons were my least favorite especially the yuzu and passion fruit flavors that didn't taste anything like those fruits. For $2.50 I wish they were better and not as dry. I am glad I tried them but the prices were a bit much for me.

So I ordered a Classic Milk Tea regular sweet. After I received my drink I was curious as to what kind of black tea they used for the classic milk tea. I asked and the person working at the register at the time just looked at me and said, "I have no idea" and walked away... Anyways, the milk tea is drinkable although, after sipping at my drink for awhile it kind of coats your tongue with a heavy cream flavor? It wasn't pleasant and the tea flavor doesn't linger. Also regular sweet is way too sweet, so I recommend doing 50% or even 25% sweet as a normal sweet. Overall, I don't think I'll be coming back.

So I asked about it and was given the name of the baker and her company. Since that date, I've ordered cakes from her twice. Both cakes were the Mont Blanc chestnut flavor. Hitomi (Owner and Baker) informs me she has other flavors indicating the local folk in Honolulu like her Mango and Passion Fruit flavors. I will try one of those flavors next time I have an occasion to purchase a special cake. As a side bar I learn Hitomi has a store located in the Marco Polo where other baked items are available for purchase. The store has restricted hours so I've yet to get a schedule to stop in however, it is on my hit list for next time I need special gifts. Her store is located in the Marco Polo condominium on Kapiolani Blvd. A definite must try if you haven't already. The cake runs about $50. But a infamous local pies run about $40. Both good, both in a similar price range but entire different styles of baking and flavor...
