The colorful cakes, cookies, layered puddings and candies are just so pretty and tasty. It's hard to not buy it all! You just can't stop at one bite. Service is friendly and helpful! Ambiance is bright and delightfully pretty! Dessert makes everything better!

We chose their LITE Package, and it was the perfect option for our intimate wedding. It gave our guests variety while still allowing us to have a beautiful cutting cake. Everything was absolutely delicious! Our guests couldn't stop talking about the desserts, and we loved that there was something for everyone. The cake shooters, panna cotta, and cupcakes were all a huge hit. Our mango cutting cake deserves a special mention because it was incredible! It was so fresh, and flavorful that I'm still dreaming about it today. Not only was it beautiful, but it tasted just as amazing as it looked. The ordering process was seamless, communication was great, and everything arrived exactly as planned. Thank you, Kristin and team, for making our wedding desserts so memorable!

Think of a cross between a meringue and a marshmallow but 1000x more beautiful as they are edible flowers. Next up, I had to hope someone on Oahu could make it and pray I didn't need to order online or through Etsy to be mailed here. I was so excited to see Zarina makes these out of Kapolei!!!And she delivers. After drooling over the instagram page, I contacted Zarina to begin the ordering process. She is super quick and professional in replying. She handcrafts all her zephyrs - no molds here! She can do carnations, hydrangeas, matthiola, lilies, chrysantheums, and more. I chose an assortment of flowers to be done in boxes as I wanted to easily share marshmallows with my loved ones while celebrating. Zarina can make bouquets if you want too! Zarina also makes cakes and cookies. She can do honey cake (medovik), meringue roll cake, pavlova cake, and classic biscuit cake with different fillings, layers, and creams. I'm huge on layers so you know I ordered a honey cake. It is not an easy cake to make and I was soooo impressed with how this came out. It was decadent, moist, and melted in my mouth. My family members who usually don't do dessert thought this was amazing and all talked about the quality. This was top tier. Just look at the layers in the photo. Since my zephyrs were in boxes, I decorated my cake with them for my birthday photos!!! Soooo gorgeous to look at. It was a little sad to eat them because they were so pretty but my taste buds loved it. Light, airy, fluffy, not too sweet, and the right amount of zing from the strawberry puree. Also, Zarina delivers!!! She drove across the island and delivered in the time frame we agreed upon weeks ago. No issue at all. And we just went through a huge storm. She was super communicative the whole way through and made this birthday so special for me. Spasibo, Zarina!!!

Pick up was supposed to be from 12pm-1pm. I messaged her at 11:36am giving her a heads up that I was on my way. Arrived at 12:01pm (right on time) and she informed me that she still wasnt ready. Waited until 12:50pm and had to leave. She wrote back saying she was rushing and "these things take time". Why let me know when I drove 40 minutes to the pick up spot???? If you know you aren't able to make it by the pick up time then why not give me a different window time for pick up or offer delivery? There was no way for me to drive back to Kapolei before my daughters party. I paid $377 for absolutely nothing. She didnt even offer to drop it off to me after making me wait for 50 minutes.

There's a small lot in the back that's monitored but free for 20 minutes or less parking. The lot is not one of my favorites since it's very tight but it's fine in a small car. I wanted to try a variety to get an idea of what their best options are so we got one cream puff and two different cake rolls, one strawberry and one Okinawa sweet potato. When we went at 7 pm they still had about 6 options in the case, with the majority being cake rolls. The double cream cookie puff was hands down my favorite and absolutely delicious. Coco puff who? Just kidding, but both are delicious in their own way but I do prefer Malu, especially the dough on the cream puff. The cake rolls were not too sweet and very soft. We tried the strawberry and Okinawa sweet potato, the sweet potato had actual chunks of potato in it. The strawberry had one fresh strawberry and some bits in the piece. The prices were very reasonable, I think we got all 3 for under $14. The worker/owner? was sweet and got everything packed quickly. It's small but there are a couple of tables if you want to eat in, I chose to take home. I want to go back earlier in the day to try some of their other specialties. They have beautiful displays of fancy desserts and on shelves cookies and Madeleines. I picked a few fruity desserts to try macarons, lemon tart, mango pudding, tropical fromage. I wanted to get their fruit tart but the fruit on top looked dry and not as pretty and glossy. My favorite was the tropical fromage which was light and airy with a really nice fruit flavor. The mango panna cotta was my second favorite which included the mango bits on top - a nice touch - and the cream nice and rich. Lemon tart had an odd taste to it. Should have went with the mush peach tart that didn't look as appetizing but probably better. The macarons were my least favorite especially the yuzu and passion fruit flavors that didn't taste anything like those fruits. For $2.50 I wish they were better and not as dry. I am glad I tried them but the prices were a bit much for me.

When arriving, there are many cozy chairs inside, with a collection of board games to choose from. I noticed that UberEats type of delivery service were picking up orders consistently throughout our time here. We ordered the Strawberry Panna Cotta, thinking that it was a parfait dessert or served on a plate. Though when the gentleman taking our order asked for the sweetness level, we knew it must've been a drink. And it did not disappoint! I've never had anything like this before. It was the perfect blend of strawberry on top, not too sweet, not too sour and the panna cotta smooths it all out from the bottom up through your straw. The gentleman working there was very friendly, very kind, answered all our questions. One being that they do not serve food/desserts here anymore because of the shelf-life and unpredictability of people ordering these items, I get it. He truly seems to love his job and it shows. Walking each order out to everyone, whether they're waiting inside or outside the shop, he's hustling, not sauntering around. And in between, he's straightening the stuffed animals on the couches, so that they look presentable. It's the little things that count, and I appreciate that. Nevertheless, we will definitely be back to try other flavors!

Which makes this review frustrating to write. The rice is exceptional. The sourcing is thoughtful, the seasonal varieties are genuinely special and if you care about Japanese rice, this place deserves its reputation. The service does not. On my latest visit I walked in with my family, including my two and four year old. If you've ever shopped with kids that age, you know you're already working overtime keeping little hands off displays, making sure nothing gets broken, trying to be respectful of the space. Not once did anyone greet us. No hello. No welcome. No acknowledgment that we'd even walked through the door. When I asked what I thought was a perfectly reasonable question whether I should buy the limited seasonal rice or the variety I'd enjoyed on a previous visit the answer felt dismissive, almost like I was wasting their time. If you're building a business around expertise, helping customers understand the differences shouldn't feel like pulling teeth. That's the entire point of having knowledgeable staff. Yes, the parking is inconvenient. Yes, the prices are premium. I can live with both because the product is genuinely excellent. What I can't understand is why a store built around craftsmanship seems so indifferent to hospitality. I still bought the rice because it's that good. But I left feeling like my business was expected, not appreciated. I sincerely hope they improve because I'd rather support them than look elsewhere. But if another shop opens with rice of this quality and people who simply smile, say hello and take a minute to help customers make a decision, I'll switch without thinking twice. The rice earns five stars. The experience earns one.
