Food: saw that Amanda and Felix went here so wanted to give it a try. We got the mushroom pork and also the garlic chicken pastries. Amazing! It so flaky and buttery. We also tried the cinnamon roll and pandan cake. I like that the cinnamon roll was a bit lighter and not overly sweet. I never had pandan cake before but it was pretty good, kind of like pandan flavored rice cake. Service: all the works are so friendly and helpful. We even took a pic with the owner. Great experience. Ambiance: I like the simple look with the small chairs and table. I imagine it's similar to being in Vietnam at a small food stall. Price: it definitely can add up if you're trying multiple things, but definitely worth it for how good it tasted. My wife even went back to buy more since she enjoyed the garlic chicken one so much.

Pastries with a Vietnamese twist? Actual Vietnamese pastries I had when I was a kid? TOTAL WIN. I was pleasantly surprised with the stuffed savory pastry with the curry in it. It was still crunchy and delicious a few hours later. Vietnamese coffee cinnamon roll? Say no more, I'll gladly gobble it up. Keep an eye out on their social media to find out where they are! They're at Fishcake on Saturdays from 10am-2pm. Parking can be a challenge but it's worth it! I love the family who baked this and allows us to purchase these goodies. Makes my heart warm and fulfills that Vietnamese craving I get. Support local and show your love!

My picture with the owner didn't come out. She was so sweet! My daughter in-law bought one of everything. It was all so delicious! They have a turmeric tea drink that's amazing! It does have a kick to it so be prepared but it so good!

Outstanding! First, rather than listing the Vietnamese names of each, let's stick to the lay terms to minimize the time between ordering and eating. Puff pastries are a must. The homemade pastry is extremely buttery and flaky but unlike their European counterpart, the pastry will quickly melt in your mouth versus having a crisp chewy texture. It works perfectly with the fillings. --Pate - No liver, rather pork puree blended with mushrooms, root veg and herbs. Smooth and moist. --Curry - Vegetarian. Gentle heat. Bold flavor that blends well with the buttery crust. --Apple - A turnover on steroids that pairs perfectly with a strong cup of Vietnamese coffee. Very good Spring roll loaded with veggies and glass noodles. Devour these right away while they are still warm and crisp. Finally a not too sweet, chewier than mochi, beautifully scented pandan flavored steamed mung bean treat. An almost refreshing finish to all the rich baked and fried goods. Service is extremely friendly helpful. Don't be surprised to have mama herself wanting to take a selfie with you. Located in the Fishcake incubator parking lot. Plenty of metered street parking a couple of blocks west in Kakaako. Worth all the effort getting through traffic, detouring around closed roads, driving over steel plates as a result of all the construction in the area.

Mahalo Li Y. for your First To Tip and alerting us to this pop up. We arrived at 10 a.m. and there was already a line! They were so busy with customers that they didn't even have their tent assembled yet. Thankfully they had plenty of baked goodies for sale. The only item we didn't see, was the layered pandan mochi. Our haul included two full boxes of delicious pastry and a container of colorful steamed coconut mini cakes. All the ladies were super sweet and the Owner's mother wanted to take pictures with customers before leaving the line. The pate puffed pastry was tasty and super flakey. The two flavors of honeycomb cake was also a nice treat. My favorite was the vegetable curry puffed pastry. The sesame donut will pair well with a bowl of warm rice soup!! This was quite a treat! Will gladly return to try other baked goods next time.

Vietnamese treats... Ten Tomorrow and Daily Whisk Matcha owner Summer has. Always kept things Kaimuki and supporting small local biz has Anh Chi Em Bakery this Sunday and what a treat. Along with Web's Banana Bread on this Father's Day made it a wonderful and easy as they have both savory and sweet options all freshly made with this new biz freshly new as well started in January currently does only pop ups and was so happy to have found them here at my happy place. This family biz showcase their culture with pride with lots of hugs and energy which is so infectious I got a whole bunch of items that I couldn't resist besides whe. Will be their next pop up...follow them on Instagram to find out @anhchiembakery and see what they have to offer. Thank you!

Wonderful bakery pop-up in front of Fishcake on Saturday mornings. Fantastic variety of items from vegetable egg rolls to pork and mushroom puffed pastry savories to desserts. I purchased the pandan sticky rice, the vegetable curry puff and vegetable egg rolls. My sole purpose for visiting was the pandan honeycomb cake, which is divine. This is my second visit exclusively for the hunt of the pandan honeycomb cake. Success! I bought for myself and for friends. Well organized, lots of variety, friendly and welcoming, like your family they haven't seen in ages! This sweet and savory store has my heart!

Discovered Anh Chi Em Bakery pop-up on IG recently and had to go check them out. Look for them outside of @Fishcake in Kakaako. They have the friendliest team working. I can tell a lot of love was put into the pastries and baked goods. Find them on Saturdays from 10am until 2pm outside of Fishcake Hawaii. As I was born in Vietnam, though grew up here. Many of these treats remind me of my childhood and snacks my parents would bring home for me. The nostalgia brings me joy and I enjoyed these sweet and savory treats. My first bites were their Chả Giò Chay (veggie spring rolls). Sorry, no pictures as I inhaled them in the car. Flavorful and satisfying, even though there was no meat. Their Pâté Sô was crispy, flaky, and buttery with layers of homemade puff pastry. Filling is made from pork and vegetables. Shitake mushrooms and onions. The traditional ones come with a pork and pate mix. I don't believe there was pate in these ones. Also had a Bánh Tiêu - fried hollow sesame donut, they are a little sweet and little savory. Try these with jook. They make a great pairing. Finished with a Banh Do Lợn - mung bean pandan layered mochi. Gotta appreciate anything layered as it is more labor intensive. For those not familiar with pandan. It is very prevalent in Southeast Asian cuisine, especially desserts. Think of it as their version of vanilla. Extracted from pandan leaves. Pandanus amaryllifolius is a tropical plant in the Pandanus genus, which is commonly known as pandan. It has fragrant leaves which are used widely for flavoring in the cuisines of Southeast Asia. They mentioned to look forward to Banh Bao (Vietnamese manapua) in the future. Those are my absolute favorite and hard to find. They contain a savory pork with vegetable filling, half a hard-boiled egg and lup cheong slices. Go check them out and go early before they sell out. IG: https://www.instagram.com/anhchiembakery/

I stumbled upon this place after I picked up my order from Eden in Love. It's a booth right outside of fishcake next to the Eden in Love building. There was small crowd of what seemed like regulars. The mother of the baker drew me in when I was walking by. She spoke with such pride about how her daughter made everything and explained each item. They had a variety of Vietnamese bakery and fried items with some vegetarian options. I decided to get a vegetarian curry pastry, pate pastry, sesame donut, and a veggie spring roll. The mother of the baker was SO CUTE and explained how the sesame donut was her favorite; she even rang a bell to celebrate the fact that I bought one! ALL items I bought were so delicious. The service, the taste, the quality of items, and the hospitality of the baker's mother is the reason why I'll be returning to try other items! If you're in the area on a Saturday during 11-2, I highly recommend stopping by!

The food is unbelievable! Sometimes there's a line out the door, but the team is efficient--so always wait! This location is in Chinatown on Maunakea. If you're lucky, you can snag a metered parking spot nearby. Pho Que Huong is super clean, and I love how they decorate for holidays. Family-owned, this local business is very welcoming. Plenty of tables. Clean restrooms for paying customers. The food and drink are made with utmost care. The produce is always fresh and clean. The pho broth is unmatched. Not too sweet, lovely and aromatic. Portions are generous for the price point. Vietnamese coffee is a must! Strong and sweet--yum! The spring rolls even taste "healthy" here in that they're not too oily, and made with fresh ingredients. The customer service is always on-point, whether eating in or taking out. Note: They do not offer XL size for takeout. I think it's sweet they don't advertise otherwise, since they don't have the proper containers for that amount of food. The service here is quick and efficient. And even though they can get really busy at times, they're still cranking out the food and beverages in a timely manner. As for the food, it's definitely comforting and delicious. The different pho broths (chicken, beef, etc) are all just right, not too oily, not too salty. I didn't even have to add in any condiments to enhance the flavor. The Banh Xeo is a huge portion, that can be shared amongst a party of 2-4. Street parking is located right out front, there's also a parking structure out back, with an entrance into the establishment directly from the parking structure. I will definitely be coming back here for more!

I heard they will keep this space for special events. The restaurant is quite busy and I'm glad we had reservations. Good thing I was there prior to lunch hour opening, otherwise we may lose our reservations since the person who made reservations tends to be habitual in arriving late. We dined in May, but it's been awhile since I first dined here. I preferred dining in Chinatown during lunch time than at dinner. Our waiter was really nice and helpful. I forgot his name, but I remembered that his eyeglasses that he wore was cool/funny, since the frames for each eye didn't match the other eye! lol. Funny it wasn't me who first noticed it. One was square frame and the other was a round frame! The restaurant doesn't do anything special for birthdays except may write Happy Birthday in chocolate on the dessert plate that you purchase for the birthday person. Their desserts are unique and refreshing. I think there are some rotating desserts /flavors like their seasonal menu for their main menu. I guess you can always keep coming back without being bored of the menu! I was bummed to see a previous dish posted of a pasta that I wanted to try that wasn't on the current spring seasonal menu! When we dined for brunch over the weekend, I was able to get the Hainan chicken with the crispy roast pork combo. It was very filling , tasty and satisfying. I do love ginger sauce on the cold ginger chicken but sometimes the chicken is just okay. This Hainan chicken was really good and the chicken was really moist! I thought it was the best I've tried! It was good that I wanted to takeout one last time in August before they moved! No more the 50/50 combo with the crispy roast pork on the lunch menu during the weekday. It was on the spring menu. Of course it's best to eat it in the restaurant than for take out. Bathroom is a must for me when dining out and they had only one shared bathroom for everyone! There was a guy who tried to make several attempts but wasn't successful, since there was always someone in the restroom. I'm glad the waiter told me there was a bigger separate bathroom with several stalls for men and ladies upstairs. You go straight through the kitchen to catch the elevator and to another kitchen /storage area! Thank Goodness! Best wishes at your new location. You offer yummy and tasty food!

When we arrived, we were the first guests so got to pick our table. When we sat down at the pretty wooden booth, there was a happy hour menu on the table. What?!? And YAY!! There was a 2-for special on the cocktails and you could select from the full menu which featured an extravagant and eclectic selection. There were wine and beer specials too but we were here for the cocktails. From the happy hour menu, we ordered the vegan spring rolls, chicken wings, and the Bo Ne Steak--a Vietnamese breakfast with bone marrow, cubed steak, sunny side eggs and a baguette. I can vouch for the spring rolls, light and crunchy without being oily. I don't eat land animals but my friend said the wings were divine. And they give you gloves to eat them. So civilized (ha) and a nice touch! She loved the bone marrow and steak. There was so much food she didn't finish it so I took it home to the hubby who devoured it. No complaints and only smiles from him! I wanted to try a couple pescatarian dishes from the regular menu so ordered the lemongrass clams which was AH-mazing! Could have been my favorite dish of the night because the flavors were unexpected but undeniably good. And, the garlic salmon bun (vermicelli noodles) was fantastic. The fish was cooked perfectly and the sauce was savory yet light. I've never seen this option at any other Vietnamese restaurant and it certainly elevates the traditional dish which usually comes with meat, tofu, or spring rolls. (You can still order the bun with these options and they let you choose your protein combos.) Finally, (I told you there was a lot of food) we ordered the banana blossom salad. I rarely see this offering at other Vietnamese restaurants. It's hard to describe but I refer to this dish as the red-carpet version of the green papaya salad. It's more dressed up and sophisticated. A real treat and a must-have if you're dining at An Di Dzo. Parking was easy since it's at Ward (by the theaters or you can park anywhere in the village). The restaurant is clean and modern.
