    They had a pop-up at Whole Foods so I bought their furikake one. It was delicious and so satisfying. The egg was cooked to perfection and the rice was flavored perfectly. It was tasty and delicious. I wasn't hungry anymore after I ate one. I highly recommend trying them and I'm looking forward to trying their other flavors.

    Ajitama is a cute shop in Ward that sells unique lattes and musubi stuffed with a whole ajitama (marinated egg). I wasn't expecting much from it, but the musubi was so delicious! We got the shiso rice and signature shoyu rice -- although I personally liked the shoyu rice better with the ajitama, which was perfectly cooked with a yolk soft like jelly. Their cold brew and black sesame latte were refreshing, but a little on the light side. I would definitely come back for their yummy ajitama musubi! Vibe: The shop is small, so they only do takeout. The workers are super friendly and nice. They're only open on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday 11am-3pm. Parking: There's street parking in the area -- no parking lot.

    I'm a total ajitama person. I love those seasoned soft boiled eggs. I usually get it in my ramen, but now I can get it in my onigiri. This place sells the onigiris and drinks made with oat milk. Yes, they're dairy free which is a plus. Their onigiri comes in three flavors: sweet soy, furikake and shiso. I love the purple shiso, so I had to get that one $6.49. My hubby wanted the sweet soy, but they were out, so he got the furikake $6.49. We also got two drinks. We got the black sesame hojicha latte $7.29 and coconut latte $6.59. The eggs in both onigiris were perfectly cooked. It had a soft center, but wasn't runny. I could taste the mild seasoning on the egg. Each onigiri had a decent amount of rice as they are pretty big. The drinks also had a mild flavor and are not overly sweet. If you want your drink more sweetened you can ask for more sugar. I prefer less sugar, so it was fine with me. I grew up eating black sesame paste, so it's right up my alley. The drink was just slightly grainy, but hardly detectable. It's to be expected from ground up black sesame seeds. I've eaten black sesame my whole life and that's the consistency. The coconut syrup for the latte settled on the bottom of the cup, so make sure you stir it good with the straw before drinking it. I love this stuff and will be back to get more.

    As a huge matcha and hojicha lover, I'm always on the hunt for a great drink -- so when I came across this spot on Yelp and saw they offered one with black sesame, I knew I had to stop by no matter what. After checking their hours and seeing they're only open on weekends, I made it a mission to visit today. I hopped on their website and loved that you can order online -- super efficient! They open at 11am, so I placed my order and set my pickup time for 11:30am. I arrived around 11:25am and since everything's made to order, I had the chance to chat with the owner, Mao -- she was the absolute sweetest! She even gifted me a free sticker (which I will proudly rock on my tumbler). I also got to hear a bit about how they started at local night markets, and I love that kind of origin story. Supporting small, local businesses with heart behind them always feels good -- and with drinks this good, I'll definitely be back!

    I love ajitama (jammy egg) on everything, especially ramen and rice so I was excited to try this new place. The location is small, just enough room for a few people to stand and order but there are a couple of tables outside. I walked in and ordered on the screen and got the original sweet soy. Service was super quick and delivered in about a minute. It was good, althoughI could have done with a slightly lower rice to egg ratio, but I'll be back. Would love to try their drinks next time. It looked good. Parking is on the street and can be difficult to find based on the day and time but I found an empty meter spot nearby.

    Refreshing beverage in Honolulu, Hawaii... My bestie, Irene M., was very enthusiastic about this new business: Ajitama. Located in the Kaka'ako area, there's metered street parking right in front - and free covered parking if you're able to walk from South Shore Market or Ward Village. Ajitama specializes in the onigiri with soft boiled eggs. However, I was more interested in the hojicha (roasted Japanese green tea). All of the lattes are made with Oatmilk. The decision on which flavors to choose was challenging. Ube? Coconut? Strawberry? I finally got the Dark Chocolate hojicha latte! It was great! I efficiently ordered on the tablet. Service was cheerful and helpful! I'll be back to this cozy takeout business!

    Tama Tama... In Japanese it means "by chance" and though Ajitama has been on my mind several times the chance of finally giving them a peek has been more of a challenge for me as the hours are a struggle for me. Not today as I was struggling with my hungry belly and YAS the perfect place to take care of that is this cute spot in Kaka'ako and with a simple yet very crafted menu items I really wished I came here much sooner. On the menu are three types of Ajitama which are seasoned egg cooked half so the yolk is still very soft and jelly like it's then tucked and surrounded by rice to form a Musubi with various rice seasoning and today sadly their signature was sold out so it was the Furikake or Shiso and it was definitely the Shiso for me as it's always been a personal favorite of mine. So did not disappoint as the yolky softness is definitely there though I usually don't like my yolk raw but well done this was something out of my box that I tried and did like it but still like my yolk well done (don't judge). Pairing it was the best ever as they have both Hojicha and Matcha and several kinds to choose from 10 types to choose from to be exact omg! So I didn't want to go with the usual Strawberry but chose the Black Sesame and was told it was one of the most popular choices and I can see why, ordering is a cool process as if you're paying by credit or Venmo you use the iPad and is a great order system as it shows all the pictures if you're a visual person and is very easy to use, while I wondered why it didn't send me to a tip section they are a tip-free biz...so humbling! Absolutely a wonderful staff so cheerful and friendly as she help navigate me though their ordering process and so happy to finally made it here as it was the perfect brunch spot on this lazy Sunday afternoon, unlike me Tama Tama give them a try. Thank you

    We ordered online from Ajitama and were so impressed! When we arrived, our food was already packed and ready, and they were just finishing up my blueberry matcha latte. I really appreciate that it was made fresh to order. We tried the shiso and furikake musubi, and wow! They were savory and we loved the jammy egg inside. The blueberry matcha was delicious. The syrup paired with the matcha beautifully, and it was super refreshing, well balanced, and not too sweet. For parking, there is street parking outside of the store, a paid parking lot next to the store, and if you're willing to walk a bit there is free parking at WholeFoods and at the South Shore Market. Everything from pickup to the last bite was smooth and delicious. Definitely coming back to try more!

    There was a lot of hype on social media about Ajitama! Before they open this shop they were a pop-up at different farmers markets. Honestly, super disappointed with them.. :( We ordered one of each ajitama musubi. Each costing pretty close to $7. In addition we also tried their Hojicha and Matcha latte. For all the flavors everything tasted REALLY subtle and it just tasted like an ordinary musubi. The real disappointment was the fact that each musubi was given cold.. we expected that it would be a little warm and have a gooey texture in the middle (because of the egg), but that wasn't the case. It was served cold and the marinated egg was underwhelming.. As for the drinks, everything is pre-made. I was not a huge fan of any of the drinks. The matcha was gritty and basically tasted like milk. Also the color of it was a little disappointing, but what can you expect from something that's batch made... as for the Hojicha, it was pretty gritty as well and tasted way too sweet. Overall, I would not come back here. It's really expensive for what it is and underwhelming. :( I was definitely expecting more.

    Stopped by for the egg musubi and a matcha latte and loved both. The egg musubi was warm, fluffy, and perfectly seasoned, and the matcha latte was smooth and comforting -- not too sweet. Simple menu done really well. Great little spot for a quick, satisfying bite and drink. Would definitely come back!

    Tried this new joint featuring onsen eggs musubis and drinks. The flavor of the egg inside was great but the only thing they need to work on is the nori that wraps around the rice ball. It became soggy really fast and not even crunchy. I tried the black sesame hojicha latte but the black sesame flavor wasn't really strong. Neko kaneko's black sesame latte was stronger.

    Ajitama Musubi has had many pop up's - at Fishcake and Nordstrom at Ala Moana Center. Now, they've opened a brick-n-mortar on Kamakee Street across from a public storage establishment, in Kakaako. They offer three types: Signature Soy, Shiso, and Furikake. And they are all eggcellent ( I just had to be corny ) and filling. It is a novel idea to place a seasoned soft-boiled egg into the center of a musubi; an Ajitama much as one expects in a bowl of ramen at an authentic shop, I am partial to the OG Soy, which I had at Fishcake, last November. They have offered special musubis at their previous pop up's...probably just a matter of time. They also serve matcha and hojicha lattes, as well as coffee beverages. I got an Iced Coconut Matcha Latte and it was alright. They plan to provide an online ordering service...still working on it. You can contact them via email: @ajitamahawaii.com or their IG site. Street metered parking is available. Hours are temporarily, 1100a till 300p. Now, as an aside, if you are a pig like me while eating...and your initial bite can break into the soft-boiled egg in the middle...then it is straight-up food porn, enuff said.

    I enjoy the limited garlic ajitama musubi! Preordering for the shoyu ajitama musubi is a must since they rarely have it in stock! I wish they had more hours available though -- and parking!

    I stopped by here yesterday morning for a coffee and a malasada. This might be one of the only places in Waikiki open at 4 AM which is perfect if you've just arrived the night before from the East Coast. The inside of the shop feels homey. They have a display case full of pastries along with additional baked goods set out nearby. For my coffee on this morning I decided to go with a coconut latte and then ordered a blueberry malasada while my father went with a custard-filled one. At Maleko, the malasadas are pre-made but not filled until you order which I think is a smart move. I first tried my blueberry malasada and thought it was good. The dough was light and fluffy and the filling had a great flavor. As for my coffee, I have to agree with other reviews that the syrup made it overly sweet. I still drank it, but I definitely would have preferred something less sweet. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again for the malasadas. As for the coffee, I would probably pass unless you prefer your drinks on the sweeter side.

It was less than three dollars including tax, so definitely affordable. The guava filling was great, but the donut itself was kind of bland. If it weren't so cheap, I would have given it three stars.     Ala Moana location - closed. Royal Hawaiian Shopping center…read morelocation - closed. This is the only standing Kulu Kulu and I hope this place does not close, or if it does relocate, come closer to Central Oahu where the rent is cheaper, haha (hint). This location is on the outer edges of Waikiki on Hobron Lane in Eaton Square. I rarely venture to Waikiki, and if I do make the dreaded drive to "town", this place and Kan Sushi will be the only regular places where I will make my stop(s), because its so worth it. I've had a long-standing love-affair with Kulu Kulu from the Shirokiya Food Court location with it's waffle bears and Hello Kitty waffles, the takeout Nama Chocolate cups stocked at Mitsuwa Marketplace and now here, in town. The Ube Coconut Mousse $6.95 blew our minds, it was THE best tasting thing, ever. Both the ube and the coconut were not cloying, and as with all of their treats, not overly sweet either. That's why I love Japanese pastries, they get the sweetness just perfect and I have no idea how they mastermind that ratio! Strawberry Panna Cotta $5.95 was creamy, flavorful, delicious and surprisingly light and refreshing for such a creamy dessert. I normally don't get this kind of combination of flavors, and it tasted like something you'd get in a Michellin-rated establishment. Looking back at the photos, I see vanilla bean seeds in the panna cotta, so every loving detail and nuance shows through with each mouthful. Nama Chocolate $5.75 is my go-to chocolate LOVE. It's cut into cool creamy semi-sweet squares dusted with cocoa and it melts in your mouth! This is my favorite of all things that Kulu Kulu makes. I actually enjoy this better than the famous Royce Chocolates from Japan. We ordered another seasonal Strawberry dessert slice cake but it was eaten before I could review (and/or taste it); I've heard it was very very delicious. This place is so good that I plan to bring my friends who will be visiting from Virginia here to try their pastries. I also plan to support this business for as long as I can and make more frequent trips to town just to get these amazing desserts.
