I bought the cake pop, do it yourself cookies with edible icing, lilikoi layered pudding cake, Oreo layered pudding cake and mini cheesecake. The desserts are light but rich with flavor. Unfortunately, our experience was very different from the positive reviews we had read. Kristin was wonderful and provided excellent customer service throughout the process. The cake itself also looked beautiful and exceeded our expectations visually. However, the quality of the cake did not match its appearance or price. We spent approximately $730 on our wedding cake for our daughter, and unfortunately, the cake layers were extremely dense and dry. Not a single guest at our table finished their piece, and many commented on the texture. What should have been a highlight of our celebration ended up being disappointing and somewhat embarrassing. After the event, I contacted A Cake Life to share our experience. While they did apologize, there was no effort to address the issue beyond that, which left us feeling that they do not stand behind their product. For a cake costing $730, I expected something exceptional. Instead, I would rate the cake itself a 2 out of 10. It looked amazing, but the taste and texture were far below expectations. So many better bakeries won't do it, as if no one is born or gets married in December. A Cake Life came through. Plain vanilla was preferred and the Classic White Cake fit the bill. There are a number of other flavors available. Ordering the smaller size (5-10), thought it would be a moderate sized layer cake. It was huge, so heavy, I weighed it, five and a half pounds! Many more servings than ten. Quality. The real buttercream icing was slathered on like buttering brick mortar, thick. Believe the cake had at least three pounds of butter. The cake layers tasted buttery, like homemade from scratch. Cost. Yes, it was pricey, but worth it. Looking through their photo gallery, there are other options, including sheet cakes, that may not be as massive and costly. One quibble, tried to convey that I wanted a holiday motif, red and green decoration. A simple Christmas tree piped across the top would have been fine. But couldn't get that across over the phone. Instead, they offered red, white and green floral decorations. Thought that meant flowers made of icing but turned out, they were real flowers and foliage. Not Christmassy at all, BUT classy. Location. Thought I knew where the bakery was. Stopped by there years ago, unsuccessfully seeking a ready made cake. They only make cakes to order. But this time, it didn't appear to be clearly marked. It's in the interior Makai-Ewa corner of the strip mall. Look for signs that say knock for deliveries. Think that's the kitchen door. read more

Our wedding cake & cupcakes were done beautifully & were delicious! However, I have to knock down 2 stars due to Kristin Kato's unprofessionalism during the process of ordering it. After carefully picking out the design & flavors of our cake & cupcake, I submitted an order request in October 2022. My then fiancé & I were out of state, & our parents kindly agreed to give her the moneys for the order on our behalf. I stated that the payment should be paid in full by the end of November 2022. Long story short - a slew of personal life events happened, & I was not notified that the payment was not received. My Aunt/Wedding Coordinator followed up in the beginning of January 2023. My cousins were meaning to add some surprises to my order as their wedding gift to us. However, Kristin was unfortunately snide in her replies. I understand that she never got the payment, but there was no form of follow up whatsoever until my Aunt inquired. After convincing Kristin to not increase the delivery fee (per website it's $50), we finally paid the invoice in full. So, "thanks" Kristin for not only being rude and incapable of decent communication, but also ruining the surprise. It's a shame knowing that you were so sweet & easy to work with in the beginning.Oh well, everyone was happy on our wedding day. For those of you reading my experience, I just want to clarify that I still recommend A Cake Life to cater your cake, cupcakes, & other sweets for your special event. Where do you go for someone special who has tried all the cake shops on the island? Upon the recommendation of a friend we decided to try this tiny shop located across Old Stadium Park opposite from Kozo Sushi. 5 stars for the cake which was a foot high? Nicely decorated enough, the cake itself was just the right texture and density. I'm not usually a huge fan of vanilla cake but the baker does such a good job that I ate it all up and wanted more. But my waistline advised me against it. The frosting was also good and again I'm not usually a fan but this one was smooth and not too sweet, nicely complementing the cake. We didn't order anything fancy, but looking at the website it looks like they do amazing decorations!! Not cheap but you get what you pay for! Quality! I want to minus half a star for lack of convenience but I guess it's owner operated so the hours are limited. I was instructed to pick up my cake at 9:00 sharp before the delivery guy left. Wanted a cake for my hub's Yakudoshi. I'm not a dessert person so am probably a pain since I don't understand cake/dessert talk. Kristin and Gina, and everyone else I may have had to deal with, were very patient with me and accommodating. Due to covid, didn't want a cake that was exposed to everyone else, and since we split the families into 2 different parties, couldn't have a half cut cake for the 2nd party. They made me a deer head topper, and then my last minute decision was to add on cake cups. Everyone was really impressed with the topper and loved the cake cups. I had some of chocolate cake one and it wasn't overly sweet, and was soft and I ate much more than anticipated. We have yet to bust into the deer head. Location was really convenient in that little food strip mall like place that has Kozo, Golden Eagle, Sweet Home (I think they are still there) and L&L. At normal times the parking lot gets crowded, but on a Saturday morning, it was very easy to get in and out. Kristin Kato, the owner had a virtual cookie decorating session via Zoom, and thanks to Emi for coordinating this event. Kristin and her assistant was so patient and didn't move on until everyone joining in was comfortable. They repeated the process numerously even though the event was going beyond the hour. Thank you for a fun time of cookie decorating, and then eating! We bought the cookie decorating kit for their online class last weekend. What a great idea! I love iced sugar cookies but have never gotten up enough energy to make them myself. So this was a perfect way to enjoy them, with premade cookies and everything you need to make them even better. The kit was very affordable, considering that decorated sugar cookies are at least $3 each. At first I was worried that there wasn't enough frosting to decorate all 12 cookies, but there actually was an ample amount for all of them plus a few more. And I love that their cookies and frostings didn't have any preservatives! Kristin and of course Emi made the class enjoyable and relaxing.
