The colorful cakes, cookies, layered puddings and candies are just so pretty and tasty. It's hard to not buy it all! I bought the cake pop, do it yourself cookies with edible icing, lilikoi layered pudding cake, Oreo layered pudding cake and mini cheesecake. The desserts are light but rich with flavor. You just can't stop at one bite. Service is friendly and helpful! Ambiance is bright and delightfully pretty! Dessert makes everything better!

The cake itself also looked beautiful and exceeded our expectations visually. However, the quality of the cake did not match its appearance or price. We spent approximately $730 on our wedding cake for our daughter, and unfortunately, the cake layers were extremely dense and dry. Not a single guest at our table finished their piece, and many commented on the texture. What should have been a highlight of our celebration ended up being disappointing and somewhat embarrassing. After the event, I contacted A Cake Life to share our experience. While they did apologize, there was no effort to address the issue beyond that, which left us feeling that they do not stand behind their product. For a cake costing $730, I expected something exceptional. Instead, I would rate the cake itself a 2 out of 10. It looked amazing, but the taste and texture were far below expectations. Quite honestly, it felt like I was eating dry, stale bread covered with frosting. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend A Cake Life.

Puʻuwai Bakery has been on my radar for a while because I was curious about their vegan offerings…read more I'm not vegan myself, but I do enjoy trying vegan options from time to time. When I learned they also make custom cakes, I decided to order one for a coworker's farewell. I needed a cake that was gluten-free, dairy-free, and nut-free. She can tolerate gluten and dairy with consequences later, but she has a severe nut allergy, so finding something safe for her was the top priority. I wanted to make sure she could finally enjoy a cake without worrying, since she's eaten other farewell cakes in the past, but suffered later. I reached out about two weeks in advance, and Franceska was incredibly kind and helpful throughout the process. Mondays are limited to custom cake pick-ups within a 2-2:30 pm window, and the day I went happened to coincide with a forecasted storm. I texted to confirm they'd still be open since other businesses were closing, and she reassured me they would be. The cake itself was adorable. The simple design and color palette were beautiful, and my coworker loved it. She chose chocolate ganache with lilikoi buttercream, and the lilikoi flavor was especially lovely; subtle but bright and balanced, and it really tied everything together. Texture-wise, the cake was a little drier than traditional cakes and had a slightly different aftertaste, but that's understandable given the dietary restrictions. It actually grew on me, and most importantly, my coworker was able to enjoy it safely and loved it. If you need desserts that accommodate dietary restrictions, especially vegan or allergen-friendly options, Puʻuwai Bakery is definitely worth considering.

You can generally find parking in the lot or nearby on the street (metered). The inside of the shop is relatively spacious with seating throughout; it can get a bit busy in the afternoons after school finishes. I ordered the mochi taro milk with boba and no sugar. The staff member helping me was polite, and my order came out quickly. I really liked my drink! The mochi layer had a soft, pleasing mouthfeel, and the boba was nice and chewy. The taro drink was creamy and not too sweet either, pairing really well with the mochi. Would definitely be interested in coming back to get the other drinks on their menu!

The parking lot was pretty empty on a weekday afternoon and there was only one person working. I really appreciated that they offered some snacks as well as their pretty extensive drink menu. There are so many boba places I would frequent more often if they also offered snacks. Uni offers cup noodle, freshly make bubble waffles, takoyaki and curry with rice! They even have combos that will save you a couple dollars if you get a milk tea with the food. Genius. I got the takoyaki and mixed fruit tea combo for $13. It doesn't sound like a deal, but I end up paying way more and wasting time going to two different stores when I want food and tea. The takoyaki was piping hot, piled with toppings and served in a little box that was really convenient for take out. The fruit tea was one of the better fruit teas I've had. I like that it had chunks of oranges and watermelon. The service was a little slow because there was only one worker, but she was really nice and trying her best. I think I'll be back if I'm in the area. They have cute looking desserts too! And plenty of places to sit with free wifi!

You see, last Christmas I gave you my heart and the very next day, you gave it away. This year, to save me from tears........no, no. This never happened to me but Wham's "Last Christmas" which was written by George Michael, is overly played during the holidays in Japan. On a serious note, last Christmas I was jonesing for a yule log. I saw posts on IG and when I attempted to order one at a bakery on S King St, I was advised it was too late. At a Japanese themed bakery I was offered the option of a Christmas cake but wasn't in a mood for strawberry shortcake. I was on a mission. I recall attending a Christmas dinner at my cousin's a few years back where someone brought Yule logs and found that they were from Elvin's Bakery (EB). I also did a search on EB's photo gallery and saw one posted so I gave them a call. Placing an order via telephone was literally a piece of cake. It was confirmed to a tee and was also advised their closing on Christmas Day so pick up would be on Christmas Eve. I made payment over the phone. All done. The Yule log was a hit at Christmas dinner where it was visually stunning and tasty. It was not overly sweet nor dry. Well executed and decorated beautifully. So why not 5-stars? Picking it up was a shocker when the Yule log was placed in a cake box that clearly was meant for a 1/2 sheet cake (?) size so you had to be extra careful when transporting and storing. There was no support nor fillers in the box for the quite empty box as the Yule log was not meant for the box provided. In closing, I'm grateful EB came through with an amazing dessert for our holiday dinner but was caught off guard with their boxing. I'll need to think twice about ordering a Yule log again from them and will definitely order earlier and seek the options on Oahu before deciding on where to go.

I have traveled a great deal and have acquired a taste for specialty cakes. I'm sorry that I don't have pictures but if you look at her work on Instagram, then you'll know that she's an artist. We were a little out off by the frosting because it was a bit thick and buttery, definitely not recommended for eating leftovers on the next day. I don't think Dubai Chocolate is an easy flavor to deliver, to be honest, as a cake. Without the frosting, we loved the cake. I would have enjoyed myself just crunching away at the filling.
