Plenty of parking on the street, municipal lots, or the paid lot nearby. Space is cute. Nice seating inside and out. I got a scone, cinnamon roll, and cookie. Also wanted a brownie, but they sold out when I got to the counter. Might try the preorder system next time, as they sell out of items pretty fast. In terms of flavor, good all around. Cookie was my least favorite, as I don't like a soft cookie. Scone was super moist. I got the scone for my wife, but I was surprised how good it was. Cinnamon roll was also tasty, especially the sauce and topping. The texture of the roll itself was on the firmer side but still good. I don't have any dietary restrictions beyond being an octo-ovo veggie, so this is coming from someone who eats dairy. Prices are on the higher side, but I think that's kind of expected because of the quality. Service was good. Rating? Probably a strong 4, but I'm rounding up because places like this are rare.

You would never guess that they are gluten-free and vegan. It's cute you walk in there are pictures and quotes and post-its from all over the place from people who have visited. There are a few tables and chairs outside and inside and the bakery is air-conditioned. When you walk in to the left is their display case which mainly has cookies donuts muffins bread. Then you have the ordering window, which has some of the hot items like the pizza roll. Everything that I've had has been 10 out of 10 as far as gluten-free baked items go it is great texture. Good quality made fresh. I noticed that the cookies are crunchy on the outside. Chewy on the inside, the muffins are delightful, sweet and light. The bread is quite heavy in terms of weight but as you eat it, it taste light so it is very nice and filling and has a subtle mochi or tapioca starch texture, which I love, especially if you're going to toast The bagel or the bread. This is an absolute jam when it comes to accommodating those with dietary restrictions, but even if you are not eating a restrictive diet, the baked items are really delicious too. You can order a gluten-free cake as well. Given at least five days notice ordering ahead. They don't have a designated convenient, free parking stall, but there is a paid parking open air lot across the street and also a covered underground parking structure right next-door and there's ample Street parking nearby .

You can generally find parking in the lot or nearby on the street (metered). The inside of the shop is relatively spacious with seating throughout; it can get a bit busy in the afternoons after school finishes. I ordered the mochi taro milk with boba and no sugar. The staff member helping me was polite, and my order came out quickly. I really liked my drink! The mochi layer had a soft, pleasing mouthfeel, and the boba was nice and chewy. The taro drink was creamy and not too sweet either, pairing really well with the mochi. Would definitely be interested in coming back to get the other drinks on their menu!

The parking lot was pretty empty on a weekday afternoon and there was only one person working. I really appreciated that they offered some snacks as well as their pretty extensive drink menu. There are so many boba places I would frequent more often if they also offered snacks. Uni offers cup noodle, freshly make bubble waffles, takoyaki and curry with rice! They even have combos that will save you a couple dollars if you get a milk tea with the food. Genius. I got the takoyaki and mixed fruit tea combo for $13. It doesn't sound like a deal, but I end up paying way more and wasting time going to two different stores when I want food and tea. The takoyaki was piping hot, piled with toppings and served in a little box that was really convenient for take out. The fruit tea was one of the better fruit teas I've had. I like that it had chunks of oranges and watermelon. The service was a little slow because there was only one worker, but she was really nice and trying her best. I think I'll be back if I'm in the area. They have cute looking desserts too! And plenty of places to sit with free wifi!

You see, last Christmas I gave you my heart and the very next day, you gave it away. This year, to save me from tears........no, no. This never happened to me but Wham's "Last Christmas" which was written by George Michael, is overly played during the holidays in Japan. On a serious note, last Christmas I was jonesing for a yule log. I saw posts on IG and when I attempted to order one at a bakery on S King St, I was advised it was too late. At a Japanese themed bakery I was offered the option of a Christmas cake but wasn't in a mood for strawberry shortcake. I was on a mission. I recall attending a Christmas dinner at my cousin's a few years back where someone brought Yule logs and found that they were from Elvin's Bakery (EB). I also did a search on EB's photo gallery and saw one posted so I gave them a call. Placing an order via telephone was literally a piece of cake. It was confirmed to a tee and was also advised their closing on Christmas Day so pick up would be on Christmas Eve. I made payment over the phone. All done. The Yule log was a hit at Christmas dinner where it was visually stunning and tasty. It was not overly sweet nor dry. Well executed and decorated beautifully. So why not 5-stars? Picking it up was a shocker when the Yule log was placed in a cake box that clearly was meant for a 1/2 sheet cake (?) size so you had to be extra careful when transporting and storing. There was no support nor fillers in the box for the quite empty box as the Yule log was not meant for the box provided. In closing, I'm grateful EB came through with an amazing dessert for our holiday dinner but was caught off guard with their boxing. I'll need to think twice about ordering a Yule log again from them and will definitely order earlier and seek the options on Oahu before deciding on where to go.

I have traveled a great deal and have acquired a taste for specialty cakes. I was looking for a specific flavor, Dubai Chocolate, and a specific look and, for the most part, Honolulu Rose Cake Shop did not disappoint. The cake looked amazing. I'm sorry that I don't have pictures but if you look at her work on Instagram, then you'll know that she's an artist. We were a little out off by the frosting because it was a bit thick and buttery, definitely not recommended for eating leftovers on the next day. I don't think Dubai Chocolate is an easy flavor to deliver, to be honest, as a cake. Without the frosting, we loved the cake. I would have enjoyed myself just crunching away at the filling.

I don't come often, mostly for my better half's birthday and valentine's day as it is a bit of a splurge. However, it is absolutely worth the money as the quality of the baking, decorating, and ingredients can be tasted. This is not mass-produced stuff that you'd get at a certain blue and white themed bakery up the street. As for the only real nearby competitor, Beyond Pastry, they're more pastry and savory rather than cakes and confectionaries. Both are delicious but different niches. You can order online or just drop in and see what's in the display case for the day. Usually there's a good mix of whole cakes, cake slices, cookies, cheesecakes and other stuff you probably should not eat in one sitting alone. Everything I've gotten from Rose Cake Shop, from a strawberry cake to matcha cheesecake, to the cookies has been delicious. The owner is polite and easy to talk to. Parking downtown is as always, a gamble, but there is some street parking and the post office. 4.5 Stars
